Chapter 22: Who is Mysterio?
New Bubble York City has been relatively quiet. There have been no incidents with supervillains in recent days. That was something that relieved our protagonist. Because he took advantage of that time to advance his multiple investigations. For example, solving the enigma of the mysterious "Big Man" and his involvement with Oscorp and his multiple incidents such as the Electro case and now, the discovery that the Nonny incident turned out to be a failed murder attempt that ended up turning that good guy into a cold criminal popularly known as Doctor Octopus. Whoever this Big Man is, he has already caused too much damage to several lives. And Spider-Guppy was the only one who could get to the bottom of this mystery.
However, even superheroes need a little respite and focus on their private lives. And that's what our protagonist is doing right now. We will focus on a very tall building where a guppy with light brown skin and pink hair was waiting for someone. And just at that moment, everyone's favorite superhero guppy appeared: Spider-Guppy with a delicious cargo.
"Special delivery for Molly Jane-Watson!" The masked hero said funnily.
"(giggle) It's about time, my hero" Molly said with a smile. Her boyfriend placed the pizza box on the floor so they could both sit together while taking in the view of the city.
"Tell me, miss...Who do you want to have the date with? With Spider-Guppy..." He asked before he took off his mask "...or with Gil Parker?"
"Hmmmm I don't know...I wish I could date both of them" Molly joked with him. Both of them laughed.
"(sigh) Nothing like eating Tony's pizza with the most beautiful girl in school" Gil said sincerely "I value these moments of calm as if they were gold. Without having to stop some crazy person with a ridiculous suit or with powers"
"Yes, I think so. Now that you're talking about insane people...I wanted to ask you out of mere curiosity...Who has been the most difficult villain for you to defeat?" Molly asked intrigued. Gil just bit his slide of pizza and he thought about it carefully.
"Hmmmm….Hard question….To be honest, any subject with very advanced technology or superpowers is a very difficult enemy. I can't afford to underestimate them. We have Vulture, Shocker, Scorpion...And let's not talk about the heavyweights like Rhino, Electro, Sandman…..Lizard…."
"Yeah…they are very thoughts…..But...if you had to choose the most difficult of all…." She asked again.
"I would say that the three most difficult would be...(sigh) Doc Ock...I mean, Nonny...He is too difficult to beat because of his advanced arms and superior intelligence...Besides, Fighting him is emotionally difficult, because I know my best friend is still there..." Gil said with sadness "The other would undoubtedly be Eddie Brock...or rather, Venom. You and I know why...He managed to imitate and surpass my own powers...In addition to putting you in danger in a very personal way...And...then there is the Green Goblin... ...I think he is the most difficult of all...because he has been the only one I have not been able to capture. "We'll find out soon, I'm sure. But for now, let's enjoy this great pizza like a "normal teenage couple" Hehehe" He winked at her and she giggled "Anyway…..How have you been lately? About your stuff"
"Huh? Do you really want to know? I mean, your stuff is a lot more interesting than mine. Well, you're the hero, and I'm just your average girlfriend" She said touching her neck.
"Hey! Don't say that. Your things and affairs are important to me too. I don't care if they are normal or extravagant...I care about you a lot and I care about what you do and what you have" Gil said with a tender tone of voice.
"Awwww….That's sweet" She smiled and felt appreciated by her partner. Unfortunately, before she could say another word, something interrupted them.
"WEE-WOO-WEE-WOO-WEE-WOO"
"Oh….Here we go again…" Gil said when he knew that sound was the police sirens. It was evident that they were carrying out some operation and something told him that they were going to need Spider-Guppy's help "Uhhhh…Molly….I…"
"It´s okay. Go save the day once again, tiger!" She winked at him. He smiled and blushed before he put on his mask. It was time to be a hero!
Through the streets of the city we can see a police chase. Some patrol cars were chasing a couple of suspicious cars. These vehicles were driven by criminals who were dedicated to vehicle theft and robberies of commercial premises. The police pursued the criminals, but could not stop their advance. Just then, Spider-Guppy arrived on the scene and landed on top of one of the police cars.
"Hello, officers! What is the situation?" Spider-Guppy asked quickly.
"Spider-Guppy, we're glad to see you again. We have a chase against some members of a car-stealing gang. We think they will go to 34th Street" The patrol co-pilot responded.
"34th Street, I got it!" The masked hero said before jumping out of the car and using his webs to swing through a shortcut to reach said location before the fleeing criminals arrived. This way, he could take them by surprise. When the thieves were driving at full speed, they were going to reach that street. But they were greeted by a huge spider web.
"Spider-Guppy is here! Brake the car!" One of the criminals ordered. His partner decided to stop the car. The subjects who were in the second car also braked. The criminals decided to get out of the cars and prepared their weapons to kill Spider-Guppy who was in front of them.
"This spider will never leave us alone!"
"Let's finish him!"
"Please, guys. Violence is not necessary. Just surrender to the police peacefully. If you decide to attack, you will end up losing...Like all the criminals I have known" Spider-Guppy said sarcastically.
"Don't make fun of us! We will be known as the criminals who took down Spider-Guppy" Some of them took out their submachine guns and pistols. Spider-Guppy prepared for the fight. However, something very unexpected happened.
"Not on my watch, evildoers!" Everyone present was surprised to see a very extravagant character. He was a mysterious lobster man who possessed a green armored suit with a purple cape. But the strangest thing was his helmet that was shaped like a glass sphere (and yet, his face was not visible). This man appeared descending from the sky, floating like some type of classic superhero.
"Great, another weird guy in a weird Halloween costume" Spider-Guppy said sarcastically.
"Fear not, my dear wall-crawling friend. I will take care of these ruffians" The new guy said with a heroic tone of voice.
"What a weirdo! Let's finish him off too!" The criminals decided to shoot the new character. Spider-Guppy wanted to save him quickly. However, this new guy extended his hands and created a mysterious green energy field that protected him from the bullets.
"But what..?" Spider-Guppy was surprised.
"Hehehe…It´s my turn" The mysterious subject decided to fire some mysterious green energy projectiles that impacted the criminals. They screamed, because it was a projectile with an electric discharge. They dropped their weapons and fell to the ground. Those who were still standing thought about fleeing, but the new hero flew towards them and managed to stop them easily. The people who were witnessing that event came out to applaud the mysterious new character.
"Yoohoo! The new one defeated the criminals!" Civilians celebrated the defeat of the criminals who were easily arrested.
"Wow….That was...a very good job, sir...And you...who are you? I see you're new here" Spider-Guppy asked him curiously.
"Oh! It's an honor to finally meet you in person, Spider-Guppy. It seems there is a new superhero in this city. You can call me: "Mysterio, the Master of the Mystical Arts!"...Or simply Mysterio. I am a sorcerer from a distant world. And I have been trapped in this dimension. I have been hiding as an ordinary person...But when I saw you, I realized that I should use my talents to help others. You are my inspiration, Spider-Guppy" The new guy who called himself Mysterio introduced himself. All of that sounded very strange to our protagonist. I mean...magic? It was a joke? However, he has seen advanced technology, mutants and even aliens...so magic could be real.
"I am very flattered, Mr. Mysterio. It's good to know that there is another...hero in this city. However, there is a lot you need to learn and you are still very new to being a hero. I think you should leave this to a professional" Spider-Guppy explained.
"I appreciate your concern for me, but I'm not a child. I have come to help you cleanse this city of evil. I hope that the city gives me an opportunity to show them that I am what this city needs" Mysterio said bravely. People began to applaud him and celebrate him.
"Mysterio! Mysterio!"
"I will show you that I can be a great hero. I'm going to prove it with my facts. Until next time, friends!" Mysterio said before flying off heroically and everyone screamed in joy. Spider-Guppy was very confused. He wasn't used to there being another superhero in town besides himself. Normally, people with powers or technology tended to become villains. Maybe this Mysterio will be an exception.
"The Mysterious Mysterio saves the city! The New Hero of New Bubble York!"
"This is incredible! Finally a real hero has come to town! Surely he will stop that masked Spider-Guppy menace!" It was Grumpfish Jameson in his office. He was excited by the sales and visits of the newspapers and news about him. Now Mysterio was the sensation of the moment. Everyone was talking about the heroic acts of this new hero.
"This has been one of the best sales of the season, sir. And all thanks to that Mysterio" Robbie Robertson said quite surprised.
"It's true. That Mysterio guy has done a good job in the short time he has been a hero. Plus, I have to assume there's someone handsome under that helmet" Betty Brant said with a special smile.
"It's true that this new hero is great and all...But he is someone completely strange and everyone loves him" Gil Parker commented. It's obvious that he didn't feel very comfortable.
"Please, Parker. He's a guy who wears a cape and flies. Saving people, old ladies and kittens from trees. What else should we know to consider him a hero? I just hope he finally captures Spider-Guppy...Ahem! Parker, this time I need more photos of Mysterio. And if possible, continue to expose Spider-Guppy as the threat he really is!" The green fish said loudly.
"(sigh) Alright, Mr. Jameson" Gil agreed, but it's not like he liked the idea.
In one peculiar event, Spider-Guppy swung around the city, performing a popular "spider patrol." Which he did to monitor the city in case any criminal act or emergency occurred. At one of those events, he heard about a fire emergency in an apartment building. He arrived at the scene as quickly as possible and found the fire out and all the people evacuated. They were relieved because Mysterio arrived before Spider-Guppy.
"Thank you very much, Mysterio!" An old lady thanked him.
"It's always a pleasure to help" Mysterio said with a heroic tone and flew away, receiving applause from the crowd. Spider-Guppy could only see all of this when he arrived at the scene.
"You're late, Spider-Guppy. Mysterio took care of everything" A firefighter said to our masked hero.
"I…I´m sorry…I guess I wasn't fast enough...At least Mysterio arrived on time" Spider-Guppy apologized. Unfortunately, this would not be the last time he would "disappoint" the town's inhabitants.
From that day on, the fight against crime was greatly facilitated. Mysterio managed to capture several criminals and hand them over to justice. Spider-Guppy also managed to do his job, but Mysterio was much more effective than him. The criminals now feared the new hero more. It didn't take long for people to start loving and praising Mysterio more. That generated a feeling of annoyance in Spider-Guppy. Well, when he started his superhero career, he did receive certain praise. But public opinion (because of Jameson) ruined his image. And now, Mysterio is loved by both the citizens and the press. All attention was on Mysterio, while very few still remember Spider-Guppy. The social conversations were no longer about the actions of the masked man, but rather the flying magician.
Of course, thanks to that, Gil Parker managed to take advantage of more of his free time to work on his pending investigations and for his private life. Still, he resented all the attention the new superhero was receiving. One day, Gil was working in his secret laboratory that was hidden in an abandoned warehouse. Someone entered the laboratory.
"Hi, Gilly!" Gil didn't worry at all. He knew that she was the only person who knew the location of his private laboratory.
"Hehe Hi, Molly…." The blue-haired guppy said without taking his eyes off his personal project.
"Gilly, is everything really in order?" She asked him
"Of course. Why do you ask?" Gil replied without taking her seriously.
"I do not know. I feel like you've had more free time. It's strange. Normally you spend all that time patrolling the city or catching a criminal" Molly explained her reason.
"Yeah….Mysterio may have taken care of all that. Thanks to him, I haven't had to work much as Spider-Guppy...The city has been very...quiet since he arrived" He said that, but not in a very happy tone.
"Gilly, is something bothering you? I thought you wanted the city to be safer. And now that it's safer, I don't see you happy" Molly asked him.
"(sigh) I don't like all the attention and adoration towards Mysterio. It's true, he has saved many people... but... why do people adore him more than Spider-Guppy?! I have fought crime for a long time...Much longer than Mysterio...And what do I have in return? To the press against me! This city is very ungrateful! After all the sacrifices I have made for the city...and they forget me for a stupid guy with a cape and a ridiculous helmet! I just do not get it!" Gil shared his discomfort. He felt frustrated and upset. Molly looked at him silently. She decided to approach him and with one hand took his chin to slowly and gently make him look into her eyes. But that doesn't mean she was going to be soft on him.
"Gilly….You have the wrong approach. Does it bother you that people love Mysterio more than you? That shouldn't matter to you. Gil, tell me something...Why did you become Spider-Guppy in the first place?" Molly asked him seriously. She seemed upset, but it wasn't anger. She was firm and serious.
"Hmmm….Hmmm….I did it because of the words of my Uncle Ben: With Great Power comes Great Responsibility. I did it...to help people" Gil remembered his first days as a hero.
"Exactly! You are not a hero because of fame, popularity or reputation or adulation...You are a hero because you do the right thing. You do what many don't do. You never asked for anything in return and that's what people need. They don't need a flying guy who should be worshiped like a god, they need a simple and brave guy who does the right thing despite having everything against him. They need a role model, not an idol" Molly gave him the words he needed to hear. It was true! Heroes don't do anything to receive something in return, they do what they do for the common good. Gil was able to remember that and was able to reconsider his thoughts.
"You´re right! There are people who don't love me, but they all need me...Thank you, Molly" He smiled at her.
"You're welcome, Gil...Now that you're feeling better...There's something I want you to know about our friend Mysterio" She waited for the right moment to show him her recent discovery about the new superhero.
"What are you talking about?" He asked confusedly.
"We can say that he seems to have been lying. It seems that it is not true that he is a magician or anything like that" The pink haired girl said before showing Gil a strange device. It looked like a gold colored bracelet that seemed to be part of Mysterio's suit. Before Gil could ask, she showed him something surprising. The bracelet had a hidden logo that read: Oscorp Industries.
"Wait, what he uses is not magic. It is simply advanced technology. So maybe Mysterio is connected to Oscorp. But how and why?" The blue-haired guppy asked.
"I'm not sure. But the simple fact that he lied to the entire story about his origin story already makes him a little suspicious. Furthermore, I have been able to locate Mysterio at several crime scenes before those crimes that he "stopped" happened" Molly shared with him about her discoveries using her investigations abilities.
"...As if he knows when the crimes will happen before they happen. This really sounds bad. I have to investigate it more closely" He commented.
"WE have to investigate. I think I have a plan to find out what our friend is hiding" The young girl smirked a bit. The young hero became interested in the plan she was about to tell him.
A new day has arrived and it was time to discover the new enigmas that the secrets of the mysterious self-proclaimed superhero Mysterio have unleashed. If they discovered a lie, it was possible that he was hiding more things. But for that they had to find evidence. And that's what Spider-Guppy and Molly were going to do. After Mysterio saved some people from a car accident, the caped hero decided to fly and leave the scene after receiving applause and adulation from the people. As he flew, Spider-Guppy decided to follow him stealthily. From here, things became suspicious. Mysterio decided to fly to an unknown abandoned warehouse and made sure that no one could see him. From that moment on, our hero began to have a bad feeling and managed to infiltrate that warehouse. Mysterio entered the place. And it was at that moment that Spider-Guppy began to see something very suspicious. It seemed to be a secret base of operations where there were many technological devices. But that was not the worst. The worst thing is that Mysterio wasn't the only person there, there were several guys. Some of them were scientists and others were intimidating, armed thugs.
"Welcome back, boss" One of the scientists received Mysterio. The subject decided to remove the helmet that looked like a glass sphere and revealed a brown-haired lobster man.
"Another successful day for Mysterio. Tomorrow we will see the news again saying: "Mysterio saved the day!" Hahaha! The masses are very stupid people. And tell me, professor...How are the devices for the suit?" Mysterio unmasked said.
"All devices are in order, sir. We have prepared the illusory drones and the gas formula is completed" The scientist said quietly.
"That's perfect! Mysterio must now level up. I can't face simple thieves anymore. Now Mysterio must face monsters, supervillains, creatures that no one has ever seen" The leader said excitedly "By the way, I need a new bracelet. I lost one in one of my heroic acts"
"The bracelet that Molly found…" Spider-Guppy said to himself without anybody hearing him.
"Of course, sir" The crab scientist answered.
"Hey boss. The boys and I want to know if you are going to pay us more for our services. I think you've been a little rougher with my boys" One of the armed thugs asked.
"Of course. I'm sorry if my devices hurt you too much. But everything must be very convincing. If you guys can make those crimes more realistic, I'll consider increasing your payment" Mysterio said convincingly.
"I hope you can receive your late payment...in prison!"
"Huh?!" At that moment, Spider-Guppy decided to appear heroically.
"Spider-Guppy!" The bullies said worriedly.
"Oh! Spider-Guppy! How lucky you came. These guys kidnapped me!" Mysterio tried to lie to him.
"How odd. Couldn't you use your "magic" to stop those second-rate thugs?" Spider-Guppy said sarcastically.
"Let's show him who is second rate! Kill him, guys!" One of the thugs said before he pulled out his gun and started shooting him. Spider-Guppy managed to dodge the bullets. The other thugs began to take out their weapons and began to attack him. We can say that the fight was not very difficult. They weren't much different criminals than any he hadn't defeated before. Using his agility, strength, speed, reflexes and his webbing, he managed to defeat all the bullies. The scientists decided to surrender peacefully. However, Mysterio took advantage of all the chaos to improve his suit.
"Those were all. Nothing too complicated...Mysterio, get out of wherever you are!" Spider-Guppy said loudly. At that moment, the caped guy appears. The man had his suit on except for his helmet.
"Wow, Spider-Guppy. You are much better than I expected. I see you found out my secret. Congratulations" Mysterio said with an evil smile.
"I must assume that all your heroism was nothing more than a facade. But why? What are you up too?" Spider-Guppy asked him seriously.
"Very good. My name is Quentin Beck. I was a famous special effects specialist in Hollywood. I had a good life, but it wasn't enough. I wanted to be someone important. So, using all my resources, I wanted to become someone great...Like a superhero. Maybe I told some lies, but I didn't lie to you when I said that you inspired me. In this world, people want to see heroes. And that's what I gave them. I became the great Mysterio! I hired former Oscorp Industries workers to help me with the technology" Mysterio explained his plan.
"And I see that you also pay criminals to commit crimes...so that you stop them and save people. Are you aware of the lives you put at risk, just because of your boasts of greatness?!" Spider-Guppy said angrily.
"Please. I only give the masses what they want. Everyone wants a hero who wears a cape and not a ridiculous masked man like you. People are just fools who believe everything they see. And of course, I benefit from all this. However, I need to level up. With these new drones, made with Oscorp technology that I stole, they will be able to create illusions of supervillains and monsters so realistic that people will believe they really exist. And if that doesn't convince you, I will use my new formula of hallucinogenic gas that I will spread throughout the city. It will be a great show where only Mysterio can save the day" Quentin said evilly.
"You're crazy! That could put the entire city at risk. You are not going to do anything. I'm going to stop your madness now" The masked hero said bravely.
"I see...You know something, go ahead. Hit me and hand me over to the authorities. But...I can tell everyone that you became a villain and that you just defeated the hero Mysterio. People now love me more than you. And all those fools believe everything I say. So I can ruin your reputation whenever I want" Mysterio laughed evilly.
"The only fool here is you, who said everything I needed to hear!"
"Huh?!" Mysterio turned to look to find out who said that. It was Molly and he managed to get it all on video.
"You know the best of all, Mysterio? That I'm recording everything live. Many people have already just heard your whole plan and your charade...You are finished, Quentin" Molly explained with a smile. Mysterio was shocked. Now the entire city knew his true intentions. His superhero facade had been shattered because of Spider-Guppy and the young blogger. At that moment, Mysterio started laughing like a madman.
"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I understand now. How could I be so blind?! Everything makes sense now. There is something that people love more than a hero...People...also love a great villain! Very good! It's time for the city to meet its new big villain...MYSTERIO!" At that moment, Mysterio decided to put on his helmet and started flying a little. Everything indicated that it was time for a fight against Spider-Guppy.
"It's time for you to fall like all the previous villains!" Spider-Guppy said bravely.
"Very good. I'll tell you what, Spider-Guppy. Do you know who the biggest villain of all is? The answer is: Yourself!" At that moment, Mysterio pointed his bracelets at Spider-Guppy and sprayed a mysterious green gas at him. The boy started coughing heavily and couldn't help but breathe it in by accident. At that moment, he felt dizzy.
Spider-Guppy was able to regain his stance and noticed that there was no one in the warehouse. Not the defeated bullies, not Mysterio, and not even Molly. And this last one worried him a little.
"Ugh…Ugh….Where I am? Am I in the same place? But...where is everyone?" Spider-Guppy was very confused. Our protagonist felt that something strange was happening, but he didn't have time to think it through. Because someone showed up
"HAHAHAHAHA! Hello spidy! I brought you a gift! HAHAHA!" In front of him a guy appeared flying on a glider and those "gifts" were pumpkin-designed bombs. Gil was able to avoid it in time and managed to identify him.
"Green Goblin?!" Spider-Guppy was scared to see the manic green villain appearing unexpectedly. But that wasn't his only problem. He felt his spider sense activate again. He managed to sense that someone was behind him. He simply jumped and dodged the attack. They were two robot tentacles that tried to hit him from behind.
"I finally found you, old friend" One of our guppies, known for his robot arms, appeared.
"N-N-Nonny….Doc Ock!" Spider-Guppy was surprised to see one of his biggest villains appearing again. He tried to attack him with his tentacles, but Gil was able to save himself. However, because of that carelessness, a huge guy managed to catch him and hit him hard.
"DID YOU MISS US, PARKER?"
"Venom?!" Spider-Guppy was unable to react to Venom's surprise attack. Finally, Gil noticed that he was cornered by his three biggest villains. Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus and Venom were working together to finish him once and for all.
"Did you think you could keep everyone you love safe?" Green Goblin said evilly. He was the first to attack him. He flew with his glider performing aerial combos. SPider-Guppy was trying to knock him down, but one of Doc Ock's tentacles stopped him.
"You are pathetic, hero. You try to save me, knowing deep down that I have no cure" Nonny said it coldly. He used his robot arms to beat him mercilessly. The masked hero managed to evade the attacks and used his web to stop the advance of the two villains. However, he felt someone grab him by the neck from behind.
"You're just a kid who hasn't gotten over the death of your beloved Uncle Ben. But you know what, we will take care of everyone who loves you. And you can't do anything about it because you are weak. You couldn't even beat me alone" Venom said that before throwing him off the walls. The boy felt weakened. No matter how much agility and maneuvering he tried, the three villains simply gave him a brutal beating between the three of them. How could they unite against him? That was impossible, wasn't it? Gil was getting tired and weak. Those villains knew how to attack him physically and emotionally. The three of them were simply making fun of him.
"Ugh…Ugh…How can I…? Ugh….I…I can´t…" Our hero said that very weakened. He was about to give up and fall, until he could hear a faint voice near him.
"...Spider-Guppy!...Spider-Guppy!...You have to react...You have to wake up...Whatever you are seeing...Whatever it is, it is not real! You have to wake up and react now" Our hero managed to identify the voice. It was Molly, although the voice couldn't be heard well. He began to analyze. What if those three terrible villains weren't real? That could be the key. However, how could he know what is real or not? There was only one viable way.
He decided to close his eyes for a moment and just trust in his ability, his famous spider instinct. If it was all an illusion, he couldn't trust his own vision. But he could trust his spider instinct. Thus, without seeing anything, he decided to face his greatest enemies. The first to attack was the Green Goblin, but Spider-Guppy managed to jump on top of him and with one blow knocked him off his glider. At that moment, Doctor Octopus attacked him again with his robot arms, but he used the Goblin's glider to hit the orange-haired boy in the face. And, to knock him out, he used his strength to tear off the support of her robot arms and Nonny fell easily. At that moment, Venom tried to attack him with his huge fists, but he was able to dodge it and climb on top of him to deliver a final kick to his face. In fact, Gil noticed something suspicious. It is assumed that Venom could avoid being detected by his spider instinct. So why was Gil able to use his spider instinct to take him down? It was at that moment that he understood the truth. He opened his eyes and returned to the same warehouse where he faced Mysterio. And he noted that everything he did was a mere illusion. There were many destroyed drones on the ground.
"Hmmmm….I understand now. It was all a hallucination. It must have been the gas that Mysterio spread on me" Spider-Guppy finally realized it.
"Spider-Guppy, you did it!" Molly said happily. She was glad to see her lover back to consciousness.
"No! NO! How could you stand my hallucinogenic gas? Hmmm doesn't matter. I will finish both of you!" Mysterio screamed in despair before shooting both of them with his bracelets. They were green energy projectiles. Luckily, Spider-Guppy swung his web to save his beloved girlfriend. And after getting her to safety, he faced Mysterio again.
"Your mind games are over!" Spider-Guppy said seriously.
"On the contrary, my dear friend. This is just the beginning. Everyone will know about the fall of Spider-Guppy and the rise of Mysterio!" The villain began to fly and managed to spread his hallucinogenic gas throughout the warehouse where the battlefield would be. This time, Spider-Guppy avoided direct contact with the gas. At that moment he saw how the place changed radically. Now it seemed like he was trapped in a parallel dimension where the sky was green and purple and the ground was rock. In front of him appeared Mysterio with his arms crossed in a villainous position.
"Another one of your mind games, huh? Very good, if that's how you want to play…." Spider-Guppy prepared for combat.
"The only thing left for you is to submit. You won't be able to stop me at Mysterio's Domain!" He shouted before preparing for a bizarre fight.
Spider-Guppy vs. Mysterio! They both started the fight. Mysterio decided to stay away from Spider-Guppy to attack him from a distance with energy shots. The hero used his surroundings to get to where he was. But just when he was going to hit him, Mysterio managed to teleport at just the right moment. Spider-Guppy was confused and felt the impact of an energy shot on his back.
"Aghh!"
"Ha-Ha-Ha!" Mysterio started with his tricks. He managed to teleport all over the stage, confusing our hero. Spider-Guppy managed to dodge many shots, but some did hit him.
"I don't know what kind of trick this is...But I have to be careful" Spider-Guppy said to himself.
"Maybe you think I'm just a liar..." Mysterio told him before the masked guppy noticed a strange thing. There is another Mysterio behind him.
"...but here in my domain I am the Great Mysterio!" He noticed how several clones of Mysterio began to appear at the same time. They all quickly flew towards him to hit him at the same time. The hero performed cartwheels, jumps and used his web to avoid Mysterio's clones. Some of them fired the "magic projectiles" at him to stop him. The masked boy managed to dodge it. But he had to be careful with the multiple clones. At that moment, a Giant Mysterio appeared behind him.
"Don't you understand, Spider-Guppy? Here I am a god!" Giant Mysterio shouted in a deep voice and used his huge fists to crush him. The masked guppy jumped and managed to climb onto one of the titan's arms.
"What kind of god are you? The god of fish tanks? Because your helmet looks like a fishbowl. Or maybe a glass sphere?" He started to be sarcastic with his funny personality.
"Do you dare to make fun of Mysterio?!" The big villain asked furiously. He managed to get the clones to attack Spider-Guppy. But our hero discovered how to know who was the real one and who was not. The hero decided to close his eyes again and used his spider instinct to find the real one. He managed to dodge them again and hit some clones (which turned out to be drones pretending to be the real Mysterio). In fact, he grabbed one of the drones and threw it directly at the Giant Mysterio's face, which caused the case to break and the giant disappeared, confirming that it was just another hallucination. After destroying several drones, Spider-Guppy finally found the real Mysterio. The villain tried to shoot him again, but he used his web to block his devices. He approached him and decided to tear off the bracelets and destroy them. And when this happened, the entire battlefield returned to normal, revealing the warehouse full of destroyed drones and a weak and useless Mysterio.
"No! No! NO! It just can't be! I can't lose like this!" Mysterio tried to fly to escape, but the hero caught him with his webs. In fact, he noticed that he could fly thanks to his boots that had thrusters. He simply deactivated them with his web. Finally, Mysterio ran out of tricks.
"Your illusion is over, Mysterio" Spider-Guppy said.
"It's not fair! I had my future guaranteed! I should be the hero, not you! I deserve fame! I deserve the glory! Just me, Mysterio!" Quentin shouted loudly. Our hero got fed up and decided to grab him by the neck to make him look him in the eyes.
"Do you think being a hero is about being praised and loved? No! It's not about fame, it's about doing the right thing! People probably don't like us, but they need us. That's what being a hero is all about, helping people without asking for anything in return. You, you are just an egocentric and vain man who only seeks his own benefit...It's a shame, you had the opportunity to become a true hero...and you ended up being just another villain... (sigh)...Seriously, I feel sorry for you" Spider-Guppy told him with a very serious tone. He just let go and he fell to the ground. And before he could try anything, the hero decided to trap him with webs so that he couldn't move. Without saying another word, the true hero of the city decided to leave him at the scene. And as soon as he left, you could hear police sirens approaching. Mysterio was finally caught in that web of webs. However, he was actually mentally trapped in his own web of lies.
It didn't take long for all the media to cover the news of Mysterio's true intentions. That was just great news for the entire city. Everyone was talking about it and how they felt betrayed. Eventually, Mysterio was exposed for the fake that he was and was arrested. Many media outlets had to retract some statements. While all this was happening, we can see a couple who was spending time together in an unusual way. It was Gil and Molly on the roof of a building again. The boy had his superhero costume without the mask on. He was sitting on the edge and didn't look very happy.
"Why do you have a long face? Look, we discovered Mysterio's charade. You stopped the villain and saved the city again. You should be happy to save the day like you usually do" Molly asked him worriedly.
"(sigh) It is true that we won. And the truth came to light. And I'm glad we saved the city once again. But...I feel bad about something. Even though I felt jealous of Mysterio... Deep down, I wanted to believe that he would be another real hero. I mean, it would have been cool to have another hero helping keep the city safe. It's a big city for just one superhero. I think for now, they're only going to have Spider-Guppy for a while" Gil commented about his recent thoughts.
"You know, Gil? I think Spider-Guppy is enough for now. You are everything the city needs now: a figure who inspires confidence and hope in others. Surely, other heroes do not share the same values as you. For that and many more things, you are the amazing Spider-Guppy. And you know? That's why I liked you too" Molly shared with him her feelings. That phrase made him feel better.
"Thank you very much, Molly. You are also amazing" Gil smiled at her. He decided to put on the hero mask again "It's getting late. Can I give you a lift?"
"Hmmmm sure. I think I'm getting used to this" The pink-haired guppy said confidently.
"Alright! Here we go. Take a deep breath"
"Please don't go so….FAAAASSSSSSTTTTTT AAAAAAHHH!"
"YOOHOO!"
The hero decided to take his partner on one of his crazy swings through the city. The girl could only hold on to him as Spider-Guppy swept through the city. Even though it was a little crazy, she enjoyed those moments with her hero. It seems that true heroes do not wear capes, but are those people who dare to do the right thing without thinking about personal gain. And that was precisely the kind of hero Spider-Guppy is!
Finally Spider-Guppy is back in this new 2024! (I know, it took much longer than expected, but he's already here) And again we saw the debut of another well-known villain and surely many of you wanted to see him here. Maybe it was a simple chapter, but it was a good idea to continue with what is to come. There are many surprises and twists on the way.

These comments were made by some police officers who decided to transfer Quentin to a normal prison. Well, he was not a person considered a supervillain to be in the high security prison. Quentin was escorted and transferred by truck where other prisoners were taken. Those prisoners saw him with bad eyes. During the trip, nothing strange happened. At least, that's what everyone thought. At some point that night, something terrifying happened. Suddenly, a loud crash was heard. As if something heavy fell on top of the truck and the vehicle stopped suddenly.
"Huh?! Something strange is happening. Let's check" One of the guards said. However, a mysterious silhouette grabbed one of the guards and knocked him out.
"Oh no! We request reinfor…AHHHH!" The only two guards driving the truck were shot down in a mysterious way. The vehicle no longer moved. That worried the prisoners. At that moment, the doors of the truck were destroyed by someone who possessed superhuman strength. The criminals were surprised to see the mysterious subject. He was a young guppy with orange hair and glasses wearing a brown trench coat. And not only that. On his back was connected to four technological tentacle-like arms with three-fingered pincers on each. The prisoners knew perfectly well who he was, but what he was up to.
"I'm looking for a certain Quentin Beck, known as Mysterio..." It was Doctor Octopus. The prisoners pointed to the brown-haired lobster man. Quentin decided to get up, shakily "You are Mysterio, right?"
"Y-Y-Yeah…Yeah…I´m…Quentin Beck….It´s a pleasure, Doctor Octopus" He said nervously.
"The others can go. Do whatever you want. I just need Quentin. Go" Nonny ordered. The prisoners were scared by what the supervillain could do to them. However, after thinking about it a little, they decided to run away. And it seems that Doc Ock kept his word. He just let them go. He just wanted to meet the fake hero.

"Quentin Beck...I was able to observe your work closely...You almost managed to fool me, but I always knew that you were not a hero like everyone said. However, I came for something else. Listen, I'm planning something big and I feel like you're someone right for the job. I need Quentin's brilliant mind, and I also need the supervillain Mysterio. Don't worry about your devices.
