THE FIRST DAY IN GRIMWOOD
The sun was rising over Grimwood. Today was the new teacher's first day of classes. Marcus was sleeping peacefully in his bed. At that moment Miss Grimwood and the little dragon from last night enter with a trumpet in her hand. The little dragon blew the trumpet, waking Marcus up suddenly.
-AH!.- He screamed scared.
Being already awake he saw that Miss Grimwood and the dragon from last night were in his room.
-Up, up and get up, the sun has already risen.- Miss Grimwood said.
Marcus that next to the director was the dragon that he saw last night.
-You. You were in my room last night.- Marcus said pointing at the dragon.
-See that you already met Matches the school mascot.- Miss Grimwood said.
-Yes, I already had the pleasure last night.- Marcus said.
Matches put on a mischievous smile remembering what happened.
-The girls and I will be having breakfast in the dining room. Join us when you're ready.- Miss Grimwood said.
-Ok, I'll change and go down.- Marcus said.
Miss Grimwood and Matches left to let Marcus change. Marcus put on a white muscle shirt, light yellow shorts and a white headband with red stripes. The ideal clothes for gymnastics.
Marcus looked at himself in the mirror contemplating his outfit. Since he was a child he has always liked to do all kinds of exercises that's why he dreamed of being a gym teacher when he grew up. Training future generations to grow healthy and strong. Although fate intervened due to Argus. Today he would finally be a gym teacher and although it was not at the school he expected. He was happy to be able to teach the girls.
-Today is the first day of the rest of your life.- Marcus said to himself.
With that he went down to have breakfast with the girls.
At the table were the girls and the director all together having breakfast.
-Good morning girls.- Marcus greeted.
-Good morning professor.- All the girls greeted except Winnie.
She just ignored him and continued eating.
-There's a seat over there, sit down and eat with us.- Ghost said.
Marcus sat down so he could eat with the girls, or so he thought until he saw the food.
-Excuse me, what is this?- Marcus asked.
-Fried basilisk eggs, toast with blood jam, fried scorpion and cactus juice.- Sibella answered.
Marcus was silent in disgust for a moment. The food didn't look like it was for human consumption but he couldn't train on an empty stomach.
-I'm going to try the basilisk eggs.- Marcus said.
Tanis handed the eggs to Marcus. He cut a piece and took a taste hoping it wouldn't taste too bad. To his surprise he liked it, it was delicious, he finished it and poured himself some water to drink. When he tasted the water he noticed that it tasted weird.
-What is this water made of?.- Marcus asked.
-It's swamp water.- Miss Grimwood answered.
Marcus put down the glass and made a face of disgust. That water tasted absolutely horrible. Winnie had noticed Marcus' reaction.
-You didn't like it?. It's what we eat every day.- Winnie said.
-No, no, no it's just what...what are you reading, Headmistress?.- Marcus evaded the subject.
Miss Grimwood was reading the newspaper.
-Just watching the news.- Miss Grimwood answered.
-You don't use your cell phone to watch the news?.- Marcus asked.
-What is a cell phone?.- Elsa asked.
-Forget it.- Marcus said.
It seems that around here they are a little isolated from the world. While eating Tanis noticed the title that was in the newspaper. It said "Mysterious hero foils robbery."
-What is that?.- Tanis asked.
-Oh, I am.- Miss Grimwood said.
She read to the girls what it said. Last night three robbers tried to rob a bank but their plans were foiled by a mysterious character. According to the robbers, they were stopped by a shape-shifting wizard. The guards said that the robbers were three monsters but when the police arrived they only saw three normal guys chained up. The three of them already had criminal records.
-More disguised frauds pretending to be monsters.- Winnie said.
-And what happened to the wizard?- Tanis asked.
-He disappeared after catching the assailants.- Miss Grimwood answered.
-How incredible, right? The hero manages to defeat the villains and then disappears into the night.- Sibella said.
Sibella liked the idea that there was a monster out there that saved people. That way people would have a better impression of them. Marcus blushed a little when he heard Sibella.
-What's wrong, master?.- Phantom asked.
-No, nothing.- Marcus answered.
-Why would a monster save humans?.- Winnie wondered.
-And why not?.- Elsa asked.
-Why don't humans just want to be his friend because he saved them? Humans don't want to be with monsters.- Winnie answered.
-But Professor Shaggy was our friend.- Tanis said.
-And he left us.- Winnie said.
The girls remembered that they had become friends with their old teacher but he eventually left them. They knew that Shaggy was a good person but apparently Grimwood was too much for him and that bothered them a little. Marcus noticed that the conversation was getting a little awkward and interrupted.
-Well, why don't we start with gym classes? Let's go outside.
Marcus and the girls went outside. Once outside they formed up and Marcus gave them instructions.
-Very girls, we'll start by measuring your endurance. Let's jog on the ground.
The girls and Marcus began to jog on the ground. Jogging is good for blood circulation.
-Today is a good day for jogging.- Marcus said as he jogged.
-By the way Sibella, doesn't the sunlight bother you?- Marcus asked.
-It's not good for my skin.- Sibella replied.
-Ok.- Marcus said.
He thought that Sibella would be hurt by the sun because she was a vampire but she was. Maybe that thing about vampires not being able to walk during the day was a myth.
They jogged non-stop for about 15 minutes. The girls were already a little tired and sweating.
-Okay girls, let's rest for 5 minutes.- Marcus said.
The girls stopped and started to take a breath.
-Very well. Winnie and Elsa have good stamina. Sibella, Tanis and Phantom need to work better on their stamina.- Marcus said.
While the girls were resting Marcus was doing push-ups, he still had a lot of energy. While he was doing push-ups Sibella approached him to talk to him.
-You're very good at this, master.- Sibella said.
-Thank you Sibella. I've always liked sports since I was a child, that's why I wanted to be a gym teacher when I grew up.- Marcus said.
-By the way, teacher, who recommended you to come here?.- Tanis asked.
-I came in on the recommendation of a friend.- Marcus answered.
-What friend?.- Elsa asked.
-It's one I met a year ago. His name is Alador.- Marcus answered.
That name made the girls familiar.
-I think my dad knows someone with that name.- Ghost said.
-Wait, I remembered. Alador is the name of a lich who works with my dad at "The Society of Specters, Ghosts and Retired Spirits of Transylvania."- Sibella said.
-How do you know someone like that?- Winnie asked.
-I met him at my old job.- Marcus answered.
-And what was that other job?.- Winnie asked.
-He was a caretaker at a cemetery.- Marcus lied.
-Ah, that's why you know a lich.- Sibella said.
-Exactly.- Marcus said.
The girls believed what Marcus said, except Winnie who had her doubts.
-Well let's get back to the exercise.- Marcus said.
But before she could continue she received a call on her cell phone.
-Wait a minute girls I have to answer this call.- He said.
On the caller ID she saw it was Alador.
-Talking about the king of Rome.- Marcus said.
He moved away a little to talk without the girls hearing.
-Marcus here.- Marcus said.
-Another possessed person has appeared.- Alador said.
-I'm with the girls now. Wait, I'll let you know when you can teleport me.- Marcus said.
-No need. The target is near your location.- Alador said.
-What?.- Marcus asked.
-I'll send you the coordinates to your cell phone. Then go there immediately.- Alador said.
-Understood.- Marcus said.
He hung up and received the coordinates on his cell phone. Before going there he had to get the girls away from danger.
-Girls, attention! Go jog around the school while I go run somewhere else.- Marcus said.
The girls obeyed their teacher and went jogging to school. Marcus went somewhere where no one could see him. Once no one was there he prepared to transform.
-WITCH TRANSFORMATION.- Marcus shouted.
An energy surrounded his body and Marcus changed into his witch form.
-Come to me, soul separator!.- Marcus said.
The magic staff to separate the souls of monsters appeared in front of Marcus. He grabbed it, got on it, and flew away.
"I don't like having one of those things near Grimwood. I better hurry up," Marcus said.
With that, Marcus picked up speed. Meanwhile, the girls were jogging around the school.
"Where do you think the teacher went?" Ghost asked.
"No idea," Winnie replied.
Elsewhere Marcus had already arrived at the location on the GPS. He was in the forest looking for his target. He couldn't see him because of the trees on the land but he couldn't let his guard down. He walked slowly looking around. Everything was quiet for the moment. Suddenly he heard a noise, he turned to see but there was nothing. He looked around looking for what it was, he felt a presence coming from a tree above him. He began to turn slowly to see, but the presence he felt jumped over him. Luckily he dodged it just right. He was already face to face with the monster. It was a woman, her skin was light green, her hair dark green, a wooden horn on her head, yellow eyes and long nails. Her clothes were made of leaves.
-So you are the possessed one.- Marcus said.
-Yes, my name is Camellia and you just entered my territory.- Camellia said.
The branches of the trees began to move on their own. It seems that Camellia had the power to control nature. Apparently Marcus fell into a trap. Camellia wanted to lure him into her element to have the advantage. But that wasn't enough to stop Marcus, he had powers too. Marcus pointed his staff at Camellia and prepared to fight.
Meanwhile the girls were tired from jogging. Their master had been gone for a while and still hasn't come back.
-How much longer is it going to take?- Tanis asked.
-I'm tired. We've been jogging for hours.- Elsa said.
-Don't exaggerate, it's only been 30 minutes.- Ghost said.
-Whatever.- Elsa said.
-He probably forgot about us.- Winnie said.
-No Winnie. Maybe he's lost, he's new and doesn't know the place. I'll go look for him.- Sibella said.
Sibella turned into a bat and flew off to find Marcus.
