At Grimwood School where our heroines live. Today they were having a history class with their teacher Marcus.
-Attention girls. Open your books to page 79. The one that talks about the battle of "The Commando Creatures" in World War II.- Marcus said.
Marcus was standing in front of a blackboard with a book in his hand, teaching his students one of the important events in the history of monsters. The students he was teaching were Sibella, Winnie, Tanis and Elsa. Ghost was not there for reasons unknown to his teacher. The girls were sitting at their desks with their history books, paying attention to their teacher.
-Alright teacher.- Tanis said.
-Very well. Now I will tell you about the Commando Creatures. The Commando Creatures were a special brigade formed by monsters that fought against the Nazis in World War II.- Marcus said.
-God, this looks like a comic.- Marcus's thoughts.
-First question. Does anyone know who the commando creatures were?.- Marcus asked.
All of his students raised their hands to answer.
-Sibella, answer.- Marcus said.
-They were our ancestors. My great-great-grandfather, the vampire, was the leader of the commando creatures.- Sibella said.
-Yes, my great-great-grandfather, the wolf, was also with the commando creatures.- Winnie said.
-Yes, one of my descendants was one too. I bled the hero core through our veins.- Elsa said.
-None of my relatives were in the commando creatures.- Tanis said, a little depressed.
-Exactly, they were their ancestors. Except for you, Tanis.- Marcus said.
Tanis crossed her arms, a little annoyed.
-Good. Second question. Does anyone know why I'm teaching history when I'm the gym teacher?.- Marcus asked.
It was true, Marcus was the gym teacher and not the history teacher. And yet, today I was teaching history class.
-I'm sorry. We don't have many teachers here.- Sibella replied.
-Do you mean that Miss Grimwood and I are the only teachers in this school?.- Marcus asked.
-Yes. Besides, we used to have an octopus butler but he quit to go live with his son.- Winnie replied.
-That explains why I've been teaching half of the classes all this time and half of the housework.- Marcus said.
-Yes. Thanks for ironing our clothes yesterday. They were very warm.- Elsa said.
-Can't you do that?.- Marcus asked.
The girls just shrugged their shoulders. Acting innocent.
-We're just girls, teacher.- Tanis said using his tenderness.
-I don't know why there aren't more people who dedicate themselves to teaching.- Marcus' thoughts.
Marcus just gave up and continued with the class.
-Okay. Third question. Where's Ghost?.- Marcus asked.
Ghost was the only one who wasn't in the class.
In the attic of the school was Ghost. She was trying on several clothes in front of a mirror. She wanted to see which costume would fit her best for when her time to be a heroine came.
-How about this?.- She wondered.
She put on a white winter hat with feathers, a mask and a fur coat.
-Stop there, possessed! Release my friends! - Ghost said.
She practiced her heroine lines in front of the mirror. That was Ghost, always letting herself go.
-No, this won't work. - Ghost said.
She searched through the things in the attic for something that would fit her.
-It has to be something incredible. Something that when you see it you'll say: "Oh my god, who is that girl!?" - Ghost said.
While she was searching, her teacher appeared behind her.
-What are you doing, Ghost? - Marcus asked.
-Oh, teacher. I was just practicing for when my time comes to join you. - Ghost answered.
Marcus saw that there were several clothes thrown on the floor. Apparently Ghost had been in the attic for a while.
-Do you know that we are in a class? - Marcus asked.
-Class! I completely forgot. - Ghost said.
-How long have you been here?.- Marcus asked.
-I started this morning. What time is it?.- Ghost asked.
-It's time for history class.- Marcus answered.
-So late? Sorry professor. I lost track of time.- Ghost answered.
-Your studies are important.- Marcus said.
-Yes, but so is this.- Ghost said.
Ghost went to put on a costume.
-Tell me. How do I look?.- Ghost asked.
-You know, when you transform, a costume magically appears, right?.- Marcus asked.
-Yes, but I can't wait!.- Ghost answered.
Ghost took off the costume he had and put on another one.
-Now, how do I look in this?.- Ghost asked.
Ghost put on several costumes, modeling and asking his teacher: "How do I look?", several times. Marcus was starting to get upset, Ghost was taking this as a game.
-What do you think you're doing?.- Marcus asked.
-What? I was just...- Ghost was interrupted.
-This isn't a game. Don't you realize that you could die?.- Marcus asked.
Ghost stopped when he saw that his teacher was upset.
-Your classmates risk their lives fighting against the possessed. I agreed to help me because I thought they took this seriously, but it seems that you don't.- Marcus said.
-No!. I took it seriously, believe me.- Ghost said.
-Well, until you prove it, you won't fight alongside us.- Marcus said.
-What?!.- Ghost asked.
Marcus left the attic. Ghost's carefree behavior annoyed him.
-Wait, master.- Ghost said.
Ghost was left alone in the attic. It's not that she wasn't aware of the danger, it's that she was hiding her true emotions.
In the spider queen's lair. Tirannica had called a possessed person personally to bring her the Grimwood girls.
-Listen carefully. Your mission is to bring me the Grimwood girls.- Tirannica said.
She was talking to a figure that was in the shadows. As she got closer to the light, the possessed person could be clearly seen. She was a mushroom woman, on the top of her head was a giant mushroom, her whole body was covered in layers, she had small mushrooms on her body, her color was green and her eyes were brown.
-Don't worry, mistress. I Virosa will bring you those girls.- Virosa said.
-I've heard that before. How do I know you won't fail?.- Tirannica asked.
-The mushrooms in my body can release toxins that knock out my prey. No matter how strong they are, they won't be able to resist them.- Virosa replied.
-Fine, but remember that I need you to bring them to me alive.- Tirannica said.
-Then I'll use a toxin that will temporarily paralyze them.- Virosa said.
-You better. I must taste my fresh prey. If you fail, you'll be my food.- Tirannica said.
Virosa began to tremble when she heard what her mistress said.
-I won't let her down, I promise.- Virosa said nervously.
-Go then.- Tirannica said.
Virosa left for Grimwood.
In Grimwood, Ghost was playing on his musical organ. After his conversation with Marcus, the gloomy notes he played were the only thing that lifted her spirits when she was down.
While he was playing, his partner Sibella went to see how he was.
-Hello Ghost. Where have you been? I haven't seen you all day.- Sibella asked.
-Hello Sibella. Just here playing the organ.- Ghost answered.
Sibella noticed that there was something that was bothering her.
-Is everything okay?.- Sibella asked.
Ghost stopped playing the organ.
-Do you think he didn't take things seriously?.- Ghost asked.
-Well, you're quite cheerful. Why do you ask?.- Sibella asked.
-Professor Marcus says he won't let me have the same powers as you.- Ghost answered.
-What? Why?.- Sibella asked.
-He said he took it as a game. That until I prove that I can take things seriously he won't let me join you.- Ghost answered.
-Who does he think he is?.- Sibella asked.
-He's our teacher.- Ghost answered.
-Oh, right.- Sibella said.
Sibella remembered that the decision to give him the powers or not depended on Marcus. At first he refused to let his students join the battle but when he saw how Ivan defeated one by one the possessed that came, he decided to let us help him.
-He still shouldn't have told you that.- Sibella said.
Sibella lifted her friend by the arm.
-Come Ghost. We're going to talk to Professor Marcus.-
-Wait.- Ghost said.
Ghost stopped her.
-Professor Marcus only wants the best for us. Besides, maybe he's right.- Ghost said.
-But you were so excited about becoming a hero.- Sibella said.
-Maybe I shouldn't become a hero.- Ghost said.
Sibella saw that her friend had lost the idea of fighting by her side. She went to sit next to her to encourage her.
-You know. The other girls and I also had our doubts about becoming heroes but in the end we turned out to be amazing heroes. You could be one too.- Sibella said.
-You think so?.- Ghost asked.
-Yes. And if you're not going to talk to the professor, then I will.- Sibella said.
-What?.- Ghost asked.
-Don't worry, everything will be fine.- Sibella said.
Once that was said, Sibella went to look for Marcus. Ghost was left thinking about how all this is going to turn out.
In Alador's castle. He and his daughter were having an argument.
-But why?.- Amelia asked.
-Because you're safe here.- Alador answered.
-But I'd like to go study at Grimwood.- Amelia said.
Previously Amelia had met the Grimwood girls and had become fond of them. She wanted to be able to study at school with them.
-The world outside this castle is very dangerous. You are better off studying here like you always have.- Alador said.
Amelia had spent her whole life inside the castle. Her father educated her from home, she didn't know what the outside world was like. When she met Marcus and his students she decided that she wanted to know the world.
-I've been in this castle all my life. My only friends are some stuffed animals. How long will I have to be here?- Amelia asked.
Alador noticed his daughter's grief. He approached her and put his hands on her shoulders to talk to her.
-Amelia. I promised your late mother that I would always protect you. I lost her, I don't want to lose you too.- Alador said.
Amelia had never met her mother. She passed away when she was a baby and she had no memory of her. All she had was a picture of her with her father, holding her in his baby arms. Her death affected her father a lot and that was the reason why he was so overprotective.
-If something happens to you I couldn't live with that.- Alador said.
-But you can live with me locked up here. Without friends. Without going out. Only here forever.- Amelia said.
-Amelia, I'm your father and I decide what's best for you.- Alador said.
Amelia was already tired of listening to her father and went to her room.
-This conversation isn't over yet, young lady.- Alador said.
-No. This conversation is over, old man.- Amelia said.
Alador was left open-mouthed, amazed by what his daughter said. Amelia locked herself in her room, angry.
-Joining those girls changed her.- Alador said.
Amelia had never behaved like this before, until she met the Grimwood girls. Alador walked through the castle thinking about what he was going to do with his daughter. He stopped when he saw the painting where he was with his wife.
-Oh, Aurelia what am I going to do?.- Alador asked.
While he was in his thoughts, the crystal ball that alerted him of the presence of the possessed was ringing.
In Grimwood. Marcus was trying to get Matches to play with him.
-Come Matches, let's play.- Marcus said.
Marcus was feinting a ball that he had in his hand for Matches to take it away from him, but Matches just ignored him and went to sleep.
-I've been here for a month now. Why don't you still like me?.- Marcus asked.
-Matches can be slow to accept people.- Miss Grimwood answered.
-What should I do to be accepted?.- Marcus asked.
-Why don't you accept Ghost instead?.- Sibella asked.
Sibella had come to talk to Marcus.
-Sibella?.- Marcus asked.
-I know what you said to Ghost.- Sibella said.
Upon hearing a conversation, Winnie, Tanis and Elsa went to see.
-What's going on?.- Elsa asked.
-The professor won't let Ghost have a spirit.- Sibella answered.
-What?.- Winnie asked.
-Why?.- Tanis asked.
-Wait a minute Sibella. I have a very good reason.- Marcus said.
-And what is it?.- Sibella asked.
-Ghost doesn't take this seriously. I don't want them to go out and fight thinking it's a game. I care about you and I'm not going to let you out if you're not ready.- Sibella replied.
-Ghost already knows that this isn't a game. She's just hiding that she's scared.- Sibella said.
-What do you mean?.- Marcus asked.
-There was one time when we got into trouble and our parents were really angry.- Winnie said.
-Yes. I remember that day. I'd never seen my dad so angry. I was terrified.- Tanis said.
-But Ghost tried to cheer us up so we wouldn't feel scared. Although she was scared too, but she didn't hide it.- Elsa said.
-Ghost in situations like these usually acts like a fool so we don't feel scared. Although deep down she feels it too.- Sibella said.
-I...I didn't know that.- Marcus said.
-I...I didn't know that.- Marcus said.
Hearing what his students had to say about their friend, Marcus thought that maybe he had misjudged Ghost. At that moment Marcus's cell phone rang. Alador was calling him.
-Hello.- Marcus said.
-A possessed person is heading to Grimwood.- Alador said.
-Understood. We'll get ready.- Marcus said.
Marcus hung up the phone.
-Girls, a possessed person is coming this way. Let's go outside.- Marcus said.
-Yes.- They all said.
Marcus and the girls went outside to face the possessed person.
When they went outside they met the mushroom woman.
-Greetings, I was waiting for you.- Virosa said.
-Who are you?.- Marcus asked.
-My name is Virosa and I've come to take those girls.- Virosa answered.
-Another lackey of the spider queen.- Sibella said.
- Do you never give up?.- Winnie asked.
- "Lackey"?. Who are you calling a lackey brat!?.- Virosa asked.
- You ugly.- Sibella answered.
- Ugly!?.- Virosa asked.
- Boy, you're ugly.- Winnie said.
- Those mushrooms you have on your body don't suit you.- Elsa said.
- Yes, you look like a rotten log.- Tanis said.
The girls' comments made Virosa angry.
- Enough! I hate that people made fun of me, that's why I became a monster. Be thankful that my mistress wants you alive.- Virosa said.
- Enough talk. Girls, let's transform.- Marcus said.
- Yes.- The Grimwood girls said.
Marcus and his students got into their positions.
-TRANSFORMATION!.- Marcus and his students shouted.
A light of energy surrounded their bodies and they turned into their hero forms. Marcus was in his witch form.
-Let's surround her so she can't escape.- Marcus said.
Marcus and his students began to surround Virosa. She didn't even flinch, as they surrounded her she remained with her arms crossed.
-At her!.- Marcus said.
They went straight to attack Virosa. Before they could even touch her she released some toxins from the mushrooms she had in her body. The girls and Marcus began to cough, they had trouble breathing because of the poison from the mushrooms. They fell to the ground completely motionless. They were conscious but couldn't move, that toxin paralyzed them.
-Did you like my toxin? It won't kill you, but you won't be able to move for a while. As I said, I have to take you alive. However.- Virosa said.
Virosa saw Marcus and approached him.
-The spider queen doesn't want you.- Virosa said.
She threw a deadly toxin in his face. Marcus began to have trouble breathing, his veins turned green and his skin color changed.
-That toxin I threw at you is lethal. In less than 24 you'll be dead.- Virosa said.
The girls tried to move but were still paralyzed. They could only talk.
-You are so evil.- Sibella said.
-You will pay for this.- Winnie said.
-Your master will pay the price for you, for calling me ugly.- Virosa said.
Because of the poison, the girls could do nothing but watch.
At that moment, Ghost comes out. She noticed that there was a possessed man and that his friends and teacher were lying on the ground.
-What's going on?.- Ghost asked.
Virosa saw that another Grimwood girl arrived.
-I missed one.- Virosa said.
Virosa approached Ghost and threw her toxin at him. She hoped it would take effect but Ghost was as if nothing had happened.
-What? How come my toxin doesn't affect you?.- Virosa asked.
-"Toxin?" Oh, I'm a ghost. We don't breathe.- Ghost answered.
It's true, ghosts weren't living beings. It made sense that Ghost wouldn't be affected by the toxin.
-Ghost, that possessed man paralyzed us with his toxins.- Elsa said.
-What?!.- Ghost asked.
-He also threw it at Professor Marcus but he's worse off than us.- Tanis said.
Ghost saw that his teacher looked very serious.
-Teacher!.- Ghost said.
Ghost went to his teacher. He saw that he was in a very serious condition.
-Tell me something.- Ghost said.
Marcus could barely say a word because of the toxin in his system. Ghost was very worried about his teacher. Virosa seeing Ghost had an idea.
-Listen to me girl. If you want to save him then you and your friends will surrender to me.- Virosa said.
-First tell me how to save him.- Ghost said.
-No, first they will surrender. I will be waiting for them in the swamp. I will tell them what toxin to use so they can create an antidote. Oh, and don't think about it too much since your friend has less than 24 hours to live.- Virosa said.
Having said that she left. Ghost wanted to chase her but the priority was to treat her friends.
-Calm down, they'll be fine, but I don't know what to do.- Ghost said.
Ghost was thinking about how she could help her friends and she thought of a person who could help her.
-I know. I'll call Alador. He'll know what to do.- Ghost said.
Ghost took the cell phone out of Marcus' pocket to call Alador. Since she didn't know human technology, she pressed all the buttons.
-Ah! If only I knew how these demonic devices work.- Ghost said.
After pressing so many buttons she was finally able to communicate with Alador.
-Hello?.- Ghost asked.
-Hello.- Alador said.
-Alador. Yes, I got it.- Ghost said.
-Who's speaking?.- Alador asked.
-It's me, Ghost.- Ghost answered.
-Ghost? What happened to the possessed man? Why didn't Marcus answer?.- Alador asked.
-Poison everyone. Professor Marcus is in serious condition.- Ghost answered.
-What?.- Alador asked.
-You have to help us.- Ghost said.
-I'll go immediately.- Alador said.
-Thank you.- Ghost said.
Ghost saw how his friends were lying on the floor poisoned by the toxin.
-Hold on guys.- Ghost said.
Marcus and the girls were in beds, in a room in Grimwood. Alador checked their condition.
-Tell me, do you think you can save them?.- Miss Grimwood asked.
-Your students are out of danger. The toxin only leaves them immobile once it leaves their system they will be able to move.- Alador answered.
-What a relief it gives me to hear that.- Miss Grimwood said.
-However.- Alador said.
-However what?.- Ghost asked.
-The toxin that poisoned Marcus is lethal. The spores of the fungus clog his respiratory system, making it difficult for him to breathe. I need to find out what the toxin is in order to make an antidote.- Alador replied.
-What will happen if I don't?.- Miss Grimwood asked.
-If I can't make an antidote, I'm afraid Marcus won't survive.- Alador replied.
-Oh no.- Miss Grimwood said.
Miss Grimwood covered her face to cover her tears. Ghost didn't want her teacher to die before fixing things.
-There must be something I can do?.- Ghost asked.
-There is something.- Alador answered.
-Anything. I'll do it.- Ghost said.
-You must force Virosa to tell you what toxin she used.- Alador said.
-Force her? How?.- Ghost asked.
-Becoming a hero. Obtain the same power as your friends and force the answer out of that evil woman.- Alador answered.
Before Ghost was excited to be a hero but now she had her doubts. She didn't know if she was capable of doing it.
-Aslo Ghost.- Elsa said.
-Elsa.- Ghost said.
Her friends could still talk although they couldn't move their bodies.
-Aslo for Professor Marcus.- Tanis said.
-You must save him.- Winnie said.
-This is your chance to prove that you can take things seriously.- Sibella said.
-Girls.- Ghost said.
Her friends were counting on her. If she could really be a hero this was the time to prove it.
-Mr. Alador, give me a spirit.- Ghost said.
Ghost was determined. Finally, the last Grimwood girl's turn to become a hero had arrived.
