Chapter 20: Cool-Off! (round 2)

The massive Tentacruel takes the field, wasting no time in sending out it's tentacles to grab or slam anything it can reach. The Cooler

Crew are forced to take evasive maneuvers to avoid certain disaster!

Those two support Tentacool waste no time in shooting various attacks to try and help their boss chase down their prey. Thankfully the big guy isn't a team player and the shots are just as likely to hit him as they are to hit one of the fish struggling to dodge. It's not a good situation, but still far from hopeless.

Seeing this, Aurum teams up with Loafy to start adding their own ranged attacks into the mix! Though Tentacruel is definitely stronger and capable of taking a lot more punishment, getting hit from both sides like this no doubt causes no end of stress to the big guy... good!

"Keep it up, crew! Remember those combo-moves we practiced! Diver, Fallen, make and opening! Loafy, see if you can snipe those supporters in the confusion!"

-"Goldeen!" With a word of acknowledgement, Diver goes in for a low sweeping attack, Fallen running defense against the myriad flailing tentacles all around.

-"TEN-CRUEL!" The dive doesn't go under his notice as a number of tentacles go in for a Poison Jab, aiming to cut off his escape before he can get in position.

Fallen does her best, but ultimately starts taking hits. Seeing his comrades in danger, Aurum uses his Splash attack to smack a berry over their way. The emergency healing comes just in time to save the two from fainting.

At the same time, Loafy sends a powerful Psybeam over to the two remaining Tentacool, KOing one and sending the other reeling. Big guy seems not to notice even as they call out for help from their boss. Too concentrated on jabbing endlessly at the two diving fish, he fails to notice when his support all but vanishes.

A painful Charge Beam X Corsola Twig combo served as a well timed reminder!

Roaring with enough force to shake the ocean, the monster rears back to deliver a beaked bite to the two ambushers. But giving those two down below breathing room is the last thing he should have done. Striking at the same time with twin Horn Attacks the pair land a double critical!

Going one step further, Fallen uses it's Waterfall once more, striking the giant with a massive current of water. Diver launches out of the spray for yet another combo. Unlike before however, both ranged combatants were free to add in their own moves, shooting through the waterfall with another charged twig combination!

"Great! He's on the ropes now! Keep up the pressure and you're sure to w-"

-"TEN-TENTACRUEL! TEN TA CRUEL!"

The ocean shakes with an unseen force. All the Tentacool start swimming away at max speed!

-"Gol? Gol?"

-"Rem... Raid!"

The water recedes greatly, nearly enough to expose the sea floor. Then, without warning a tidal force smacks into the Tentacool farthest from the battle, rapidly approaching the group and knocking out dozens of jellies, including Tentacruel's last teammate!

Everyone gathers up together to weather the storm, a faint glowing as the wave finally collides with the group and more...

Sirens blare as the citizens of that little town have been feeling rumblings for some time coming from the ocean. The sailor's battle only a week or two earlier may have been an environmental disaster, but it did do one good thing, it alerted the Pokemon Rangers to an approaching wave of Tentacool.

Seeing as they were in the area, the Ranger Corps dispatched a few members to monitor the situation and ensure that there were no long term dangers... they were right to do so as the Tentacruel leading the swarm was known to be extremely violent and prone to lashing out at other large-sized pokemon wherever it swam.

They suspected that any Mantine or Gyrados in the area may suffer injuries, saying nothing of the danger it poses to any foolish trainers who might try to catch the thing.

As the underwater activity became more intense, an evacuation order was carried out. Little did they know that this move may have saved the lives of hundreds as a massive tidal wave caused by Tentacruel's Surf attack swept through the area... From the window of a rescue copter, a young boy on his first day as a pokemon trainer looks on in horror.

-"Tenty..."
