The last thing they remembered was feeling torn apart and full of resentment, though they didn't know why. Above them was something akin to a beacon of light that was starting to disintegrate after shattering into four pieces. Looking around, they noticed three other existences drowned in darkness just like themselves, each following one of the beacon's pieces. As they bathed in the light of the beacon, the darkness of the other three existences retracted inside of them as if trying to save itself, while the little darkness that was surrounding it dissipated, leaving it exposed and vulnerable. At that, the little traces of resentment were washed away and turned into calmness and peace before being replaced by panic. They could feel themselves fading away as if the light that had calmed them started to erase them now. Feeling themselves fading away, the last thing they saw was the beacon completely breaking away, leaving only an afterimage of the light it generated and a new piece that collided with them as if pulling them into a soothing embrace, as if trying to save them from disappearing.

It was raining as crying echoed through the night. A baby girl with a necklace holding a blue crystal tied around her neck was lying on a house's doorstep, cold, alone, frightened, and crying her heart out. The door suddenly opened to reveal a blond woman, her green eyes widened at what she saw. She quickly disappeared into the house, returning with a blanket to cover the child and bring her inside. Once she did, she held her close, trying to give her the comfort she seemed to need.

Feeling the warmth and gentle touch of another person, the child's cries died down. Seeing this, the woman tried to untie the necklace strapped around the child to take a closer look at it until she heard someone approach her. She turned around to see a black-haired man.

"Yusho, you're awake." she said, giving him a relieved smile.

Yusho's expression became puzzled. He and his wife had fallen asleep watching a movie until the sound of crying woke him up, and now his wife was standing there holding an infant in her hands.

"Yoko, what's going on, and where did that child come from?" he asked as he came closer.

"She was lying on our doorstep crying. Probably wouldn't have heard her with the rain outside if we hadn't fallen asleep here." She answered, still trying to untie the necklace from the child's body.

Curious Yusho walked to the door and looked outside. There was not a single trace or note that could tell him where the child came from. Sighing, he closed the door and walked back inside until the sound of something falling to the ground caught his attention. Looking toward his wife, he saw she had undone the necklace's bind, and lying beneath her was now what seemed to be a Duel Monsters card. He picked it up, only to grow confused. As a pro duelist, he had heard of many cards, but this was the first time he came across the name Odd-Eyes Dragon. He was snapped out of his thoughts by the sound of whimpering. Looking up, he saw the baby's red eyes darting between the card and necklace while trying to reach them with her little hands.

Too young to understand her surroundings, the child didn't know what was happening, but she couldn't get rid of the feeling that those items were important to her.

Seeing the way she tried to reach them, Yusho took the necklace from his wife's hands and placed it along with the card in the infant's. While doing so, he finally got a good look at her. She was at most a few weeks old, with a little bit of red and green hair growing on her head. Noticing the smile on the child's face and its eyes shining with happiness and excitement as she held onto the card and necklace, he smiled himself. Looking at Yoko, he saw she had the same expression on her face as him and figured they were probably thinking the same thing.

"We need to think of a name for her if we are taking her in." Yoko said as they watched the child start falling asleep in her arms.

After thinking about it for a bit, he asked.

"How do you like Yuya?"

Yoko smiled and nodded as she looked at her new daughter, Yuya Sakaki. She couldn't help but feel that this name would one day bring joy to many people.

The next morning was rather unusual. Aside from having to mentally adjust to now being parents and having to make some purchases for the same reason, their old friend Shuzo Hiiragi had asked if he could come over. Nothing unusual about that, other than him sounding a bit tense on the phone. Though when he came by, their eyes widened. In his arms, Shuzo was holding a sleeping baby girl with a bit of pink hair growing on her head, while she was holding onto a double-banded metal bracelet with two pink stones on either side where the bands intersect, framed by a simple rose design. What surprised them the most is that, according to Shuzo, the girl had the same origin as their daughter, left on the doorstep in the middle of the night, with nothing to pinpoint where she came from. The only thing different was that while both had an accessory on them, their daughter also had a Duel Monsters card with her.

"I couldn't just leave her, and with seemingly no one else to take care of her, I thought I could. I can't really see myself getting married at this point, but I always wanted to be a parent." Shuzo said, looking fondly at the girl in his arms.

"I know this is a lot to ask, but could you two help me out every once in a while? We are both duelists, Yusho, and you know how busy that can keep us at times. I thought that if push comes to shove, you could take her off my hands for a bit." He said with a rather nervous smile.

Yusho and Yoko looked at each other before smiling. While Yoko went toward their room, Yusho approached Shuzo with an assuring look. "Don't worry, you know you can always rely on us. Besides, believe it or not, we know exactly what you're going through."

That last statement confused Shuzo until he saw Yoko return with the sleeping Yuya in her arms. When they told him how they found her, his jaw dropped, looking back and forth between the infants before giving a nervous chuckle. "Well, what are the odds," he said, to which the three of them started laughing until they noticed the two girls starting to wake up from the noise.

Looking over to the girl in his arms, Yoko asked, "So, what's her name?"

Shuzo looked fondly at his waking daughter and said, "My friends meet Yuzu." He then looked at the child in Yoko's arms and asked, "What about her?"

Yusho looked at his daughter with a smile and said, "This is Yuya."

Both girls awoke, took in their surroundings, and when their eyes met, they both started giggling, melting their parents' hearts.

"Something tells me those two will be good friends," Yusho said, to which both Yoko and Shuzo agreed.
