So, those who follow my works, my be surprised to see a 'Remake' of Fox of Remnant when there already is one in Guiding Light.

That is still ongoing and is simply a different take on being a Remake of Fox of Remnant, just like WildFlowers is. It is going to be a Rewrite. It will take that original idea, stay true to with a few changes of things I felt were wrong with it and build upon it from where I felt I started to lose control of the story from my own over eagerness to be writing once again. I always loved that idea, but it just got away from me and I want to try it again.

As such, this will follow the original intent of being Naruto and Blake ship before I allowed outside opinion alter the story based on how I was writing Weiss. So, Weiss will not be a part of the ship.

So without wasting more time, let's get to it, shall we?

What was this place? Where was he? Where was everyone?

Why couldn't he remember the last thing he did?

Ugh, why did his head hurt? Why did he feel like his entire body was bathed in fire?

None of this made any sense.

Every movement of his body was agonizing. It felt like a searing hot knife was stabbing every fiber, tendon, and muscle. His vision blurred and darkened as exhaustion set in.

It didn't just feel like he was in a fight. It felt like he took part in a war.

Images of such memories flooded his mind. Naruto winced and clutched his temple, stumbling through this fall forest that seemed to stretch forever. He grimaced and used the spacing of the trees to stay upright and continue forward.

Those memories didn't feel… Right.

They existed. He remembered them well. But something about them felt off. They felt…

More recent than he recalled…

"Gotta find someone and get back home…" Naruto muttered to himself, struggling with each movement. He pushed himself off a tree and kept moving forward, glowering at the sticky sap that drenched his palms.

The pain was the least of his worries as he wiped the sap onto his ragged clothing. He felt utterly drained. Chakra exhaustion wasn't something he was familiar with… Or was it?

Everything was so unclear… The war felt fresh but so distant in his mind.

He shook his head, attempting to keep the creeping darkness at bay. He had to find someone soon. If he was fighting just a moment ago, where was everyone? Where was Sasuke?

Why couldn't he sense anyone?

Wait… What was that? It felt like…

A growl resonated. Naruto narrowed his eyes, shifting to find the source of the noise to see several large, dark bear-like creatures with bone protrusions on their body.

"Heh, shouldn't be surprised," Naruto muttered before a faint smirk graced his features, slipping a kunai into his hand. "Well, if you guys want to go…"

"Let's go wild, eh?"

Her legs were heavy. Every breath ached. She struggled to breathe with every swift step she took.

She couldn't stop running. She couldn't look back. She had to keep moving. She had to get as far away as she could.

Or the anxious thoughts swarming her would overtake her.

Was this the right decision?

Should she have left him in that manner?

Should she have given up the way she had?

Surely, she could have done something more to reach him. Change his mind…

Stumbling up against one of the red-leaved trees of the Forever Fall forest, holding her weight with one hand, Blake clutched her chest with her other as she caught her breath. Her body trembled with regret.

Despite everything Adam had done, her heart ached. Leaving him the way she did felt like a betrayal. That her actions were wrong…

Rationally, she knew they weren't. What he was about to do was a step too far. She couldn't condone such action. She had to stop him and get out while she could. His ideal for the direction of the White Fang was too radical.

And yet, knowing all that, she did not dose her thoughts or feelings.

All she could do was keep running as far away from him as possible so she wouldn't have to see him again and regret her choice.

But where could she go?

She thought of home. Blake's expression soured, and she grimaced. No, she couldn't return to her parents now, not after leaving the way she did to join the White Fang. It would also be the first place Adam would look and find her. She couldn't let him find her. With how radical he had become, Blake didn't know what he would do. She couldn't place her parents in that kind of danger.

Returning home wasn't an option. This was her problem now. She had to deal with it.

But where else could she go? She didn't have connections. She didn't have friends outside back home or in the White Fang. There was no place for her.

Blake had thoughts of leaving the Vale region altogether. Mistral. Atlus and Mantle. Vacuo. They were all far away… But she felt Adam would expect her to run far away. He had contacts in those regions. He would check for her there…

So where could she go?

Blake growled. There had to be something she could do. Somewhere she could go…

And why was her hand sticky?!

Blake glowered, lifting her hand from the tree and staring at the sap coating it. Her features fell, and she quickly reached into her small pouch to pull out a small water canteen. She thoroughly cleansed the substance from her hand before shaking her head.

She had to be careful. The trees here contained a sap that Grimm were attracted to. It was why the Forever Fall Forest was filled with the damnable creatures. She couldn't get away with making a mistake like that again.

"Better get out of here," Blake told herself, stepping away from the tree and carefully scanning the area for any signs of Grimm.

All of her concerns and worries were secondary to the threat of the Grimm. She could worry about them when she made it safely within the walls of Vale.

"Hm?" Blake's eyes sharpened before a hiss escaped her throat.

Her anxiety blinded her to where she hadn't realized Grimm were sleeping nearby. However, she relaxed as her eyes caught a peculiar detail about the several Beowolves and Ursas.

Their bodies were slowly dissipating into smoke.

They had been killed recently.

Blake frowned. Was someone else out here? She knew that Beacon Academy occasionally brought their students out here for training. However, it was an otherwise safe place for the White Fang to camp since it was rarely traveled.

Did that mean a Huntsman was in the area?

That thought made her nervous. Were they finally aware of where Adam's group was located? Were they out here for them at all? Did they know about their plans?

Blake timidly moved forward, taking in the sight. There were so many dead Grimm. How could a single Huntsman take on this many? This had to be a team or…

Her eyes sharpened onto a single figure. One that laid against a tree.

There sat a blonde Faunus sleeping or perhaps lying unconscious against the tree.

The pit in her stomach grew. At first, she thought he might have passed on until she could see his chest moving. Her eyes darted side to side, looking to see if this was an ambush before she approached him and grimaced.

He looked rough. That was expected if he was the one to fight this many Grimm. But oddly, given what she could see, there wasn't a single scratch or obvious sign of damage from fighting a Grimm on him. If anything, it instead seemed he was fighting someone else.

"Hey," Blake gently nudged his shoulder to awaken him.

No reaction outside of breathing.

Blake scowled, reaching for his arm, lifting it limply, and watching it drop without resistance. He was out cold.

She stood up, repressing the growl building in her throat. She couldn't just leave him out here. But taking him alongside her would slow her down. But he wasn't her responsibility. She had to look out for herself…

"Dammit," Blake shook her head, squatting next to him, draping his arm over her neck as she lifted him. She shot a glare at the unconscious Faunus. Her expression softened, and she exhaled. "Maybe Adam was right about me…"

"I guess I always was soft, huh?"

"Ah!"

Naruto bolted upright, hand clutching his chest to calm his racing heart. Scanning his new environment, he cursed his blurry vision, shaking his head as he adjusted to the light.

He glowered. What was the light he had just seen in the darkness of his dream? And why couldn't he remember anything about it? Or about what just happened?

Everything was hazy… He remembered a whole lot of fighting… And fighting Sasuke..

The war! Madara! Kaguya!

He remembered fighting Sasuke and talking to him…

And this weird autumn forest? And strange black creatures that generated negative energy in an autumn forest. What were those things?

Naruto's eyes sharpened at the memory of fighting those creatures. He lifted his right arm and scrutinized it, waggling his fingers.

That wasn't right. He was sure he had lost it in his fight against Sasuke. And something felt off about it. Why was it a slightly different tint and color? Wait, he remembered a transplant…

He frowned. No, this didn't feel right. Something was bothering him, and it wasn't just about his arm.

Everything felt… Off.

Scanning the room again, Naruto couldn't come up with the unsettling sensation bubbling in the pit of his stomach. Despite being in a hospital room, he didn't think any medics could regenerate an entire arm. He could have rearranged cells from unnecessary places within the body since he hadn't perfected the Sage's technique. He was pretty sure it was something he and Sasuke would need to work on together to accomplish…

And what was with this hospital room?

Naruto scowled. It wasn't one he was familiar with. Nor were the computers monitoring his vitals. He wasn't sure what was off at them first, but after a moment, he recognized the issue.

They looked sleeker as if they were more advanced. They also had a few functions and other monitors he had never seen before.

Naruto put that aside for now. He had a few thoughts on why that could be.

His main concern was that this was a hospital in another nation he was brought to, but they didn't make sense. His final bout with Sasuke was in the Valley of the End. It would make more sense to bring him home since it was closer. But they could have, considering the majority of the best medics were involved in the war.

Well, there was only one way to answer his questions. But first…

Kurama, you awake?

Naruto didn't expect an answer as he dove into the recesses of his mind to check on the Nine-Tails. After the ferocious battle, he said he would sleep for a while, having exhausted his immeasurable reservoir of chakra. He expected to sense Kurama's presence.

What he wasn't expecting was to sense nothing.

No presence tugging at the back of his mind. No immeasurable chakra reservoir.

There wasn't a sign of Kurama.

A frigid trickle shivered down Naruto's spine. The uneasiness he had feeling swelled, and his stomach flipped-flopped. Something didn't feel right.

That sensation grew when he sat cross-legged, attempting to meditate, flow his chakra, and concentrate on sensing where Kurama was. Instead, his face twisted.

His chakra wasn't reacting like it was supposed to. It felt different. Wrong.

Frustration quickly set in. Naruto jumped to his feet, holding a growl in his throat. He had to find out what was going on. There wasn't an obvious sign of tampering. He didn't see a seal, so he had to find someone to help him find a solution to what was happening. He wasn't in fantastic condition, but there wasn't a moment to waste. Naruto had to get to the bottom while this uncomfortable feeling was building.

Without a care about his tattered appearance, he yanked the wires and tubes connected to him, leapt to his feet, and grabbed his threadbare clothes. He threw them on before marching straight for the door.

Someone had to have an answer or could lead him in the right direction. A being like Kurama didn't just vanish into thin air without someone noticing.

Tsunade. Gaara. The other Kages. Sakura. Shikamaru. Hinata. Sasuke if he was awake.

One of them would have the answers. Or could help lead him to an answer.

But as he snapped the door open, he was greeted by an even stranger sight.

He didn't recognize any of these people.

Naruto figured there would be someone he recognized if they had brought him here. But there was no one.

There were many nurses and doctors around, all startled by his entrance. Or being awake, he wasn't sure which. There were a few patients and visitors in the nearby lobby, but still, no one he could remotely say he knew or had seen their face before.

He might not know most of the fellow shinobi's names he fought with, but he damn well recognized another shinobi. No one here looked like a shinobi!

Well, there was that one dark-haired girl who had clothes that resembled a kunoichi's gear.

…Were those cat ears on the top of her head?

He shook his head of that, but that uneasy feeling only intensified. Something was very wrong. At least, that was far from the strangest thing he had seen before.

That strange shark man who wanted to cut his legs off to kidnap him trumped her peculiar appearance. And that wasn't even the weirdest thing he dealt with…

"You're awake? How do you feel?"

Naruto blinked as one person dressed like a kunoichi jumped ahead of the doctors and nurses. It was strange. He didn't know her, but her concerned expression alleviated a modicum of his worry.

Was she who brought him here?

"I heal quickly," Naruto answered honestly, tilting his head slightly. "Did you bring me here? The last thing I remember was being in that forest and taking out those creatures…"

"The horde of Grimm?" The girl gave him a strange glance while nodding, confirming she had brought him here. Naruto frowned as he knew that look. It was the look Sakura gave him when she felt he should have known something.

He didn't like that. Why should he have known what those creatures were?

"Sir, you should really be resting. The injuries you came in with…" A nurse attempted to coerce him back into his room.

"And like I said, I heal quick. All good here." Naruto scowled, motioning toward himself. His clothes were torn to shreds, and he knew the mesh shirt didn't hide anything. There was no bruising, visible lumps, or broken bones.

He was good.

Why was the girl blushing? What was she staring at?

Didn't matter!

Naruto shook his head before placing his hand on his hip. "Consider this a self-checkout! I've gotta get back to my village, so if you wouldn't mind, could you point me in which direction Konoha is? I don't recognize this place, but I would appreciate the help."

Naruto scrunched his face upon seeing the bewilderment in their faces. It initially confused him since Konoha was one of the most well-known Hidden Villages. But the knot in the stomach twisted tighter when the cat girl spoke and confirmed his worst fears.

"Konoha? I don't think I have ever heard of a village called that." The cat girl's eyes sharpened, her confusion evident before a concerned expression washed over it. "Are you sure you are okay? You were pretty badly hurt when I found you. Maybe you hit your head a little too hard?"

A chill traveled down Naruto's spine. It wasn't simply that she didn't know about his village. It was the way she framed it.

He had a bad feeling about this.

"Nah, I'm good." Naruto disguised his growing concern with a nervous chuckle, glancing toward a window outside. He sighed and shook his head, firmly resolving what he needed to do. "Got a few things I got to do."

"Guess finding my way back home to get my answers is one of them."

Gotta say, it kinda feels good to be working on this idea again. Feels like a burden has been lifted in my own mind. I didn't realize how much it was plaguing me until I started going through the story again.

With that being said, everything else outside of Hushed Dreams and whatever Honkai: Star Rail story that gets chosen will be put on hiatus. This along with those two stories will be my only priority moving forward. Apologizes for those who enjoy all my other stories.

I hope you enjoyed. If you got a moment, I would love to hear from you and what you think. I always appreciate hearing from my readers and hopefully, depending on how work and stuff in life goes, getting back to you. It really means quite a lot.

Until next time my friends, Peace.
