"I get it, you don't want me." Nothing could be further from the truth, but to protect his daughter, he would let her believe that.

Her tears brought down his walls, too much like her mother, "there is much you do not know, and it should remain that way." He turned away from Sarada before he revealed too much, I love you, but I am not permitted to be near you, it is much more complex than you can possibly imagine.

He began to walk away but was stopped by her hand on his cloak, pleading him to stay, "please help me find my mother maybe she does want me."

He wanted to reach for her, to hold her, to help her find Sakura, because Sakura was sweeter, kinder, smarter, wiser and she would know what to do. Sasuke did not look back, what was left of his resolve would crumble otherwise. "Sarada, understand this, you were never supposed to exist, if you go near your mother you will only bring her suffering." His words came out harsher than he intended, but they were true.

She let go of his cloak then, and he reminded himself that Sarada could not go near Sakura, even he was not allowed to be near her. He was not sure how she found her way to him, but it could not happen again.

Once more his departure was interrupted, but this time it was not hand that stopped him but words, "what a cold-hearted man your father is Sarada-chan. I told you it was better to not seek him out." Madara, of course, only Madara was powerful enough to allow this reunion. Before he could do or say anything, Madara's hand was on Sarada's shoulder and they vanished.
