Uzumaki Naruto offered to take her home once it was clear her friends had ditched her. He looked at her with concern, but not pity. Good, she did not need this man's pity nor did she want it. What she needed was his attention, what she wanted was his bank account. His attention she got, his eyes did not leave her while they waited for her nonexistent friends, to the point that his companion was no longer disguising her disdain. She had no reason to try, Naruto had clearly lost interest in her. As for his bank account, she was working on getting that.

Sakura had declined his offer to take her home, she had a role to play. She could not afford to be too forward. Forward girls were the type he went for, forward girls did not last long in his life. Sakura was not the type to gamble, at least not if the odds were against her; she knew his softheartedness would never allow his conscience any peace at her refusal. She had waited with him for a few about 20 minutes. They made light conversation here and there, Naruto seemed determined to befriend her, he had even asked her to just hang out with him, but she could not. Well, technically she could, and if her goal was to find herself a rich baby daddy that would be all the invitation she needed. Sakura though had bigger plans, more greed than simple child support.

Naruto's concern for her was the guarantee that he would think of her until their next meeting. "I can't bother you anymore," she replied, "you are here with your girlfriend-"

"She is not my girlfriend," he was so quick to deny it Sakura almost felt bad for the girl. Almost. "It really would not be a bother; Hana and I are just friends." Sakura had to look down, afraid of making eye contact, because she would break. She wanted to laugh, even she knew Hana was not the girl's name. He took it as her being embarrassed however,"Sakura-chan, I insist let me take you home, it's late and not safe for a pretty girl like you to be alone." Things were going very well Naruto did at least remember her name. Sakura needed him to want more of her, to be curious, and so she had to turn down his offer.

It was not easy to convince him to let her go home alone, the only reason he agreed is because he gave her his number. He made her promise she would text him when she got home, "I mean it," his tone leaving no room for argument, "I take promises very seriously." Sakura gave her word, he walked her outside, paid for her taxi, and they could not keep their eyes off each other as she climbed in the taxi. She smiled shyly, gave her thanks. For his part, he gave a wide toothy grin.

Once she arrived home she toyed with the idea of texting him, of keeping her promise. He really had been nice, but if she texted him now how could she guarantee she would be on his mind until their next meeting? She had not even intended to get his number on this night, that was for next week.

Their second meeting would be at Ichiraku's Ramen. Naruto was a regular there. Never failed to show up on a Sunday morning, and Sakura had just conveniently eaten there that morning as a set up for their next encounter. The ramen was just so good, how could she resist going back for more so soon? She already had a plan on how to ask him out, the original was being so grateful that he was with her while she waited for her friends. The new one was to apologize for not texting him.

Sakura went to bed knowing she was in his thoughts, knowing he was probably looking at his phone screen waiting for a text message that would never come.

A/N: basically, after their first meeting you wouldn't get the details of the beginning of their relationship. from here it would skip to Naruto's first time bringing up Sakura to Sasuke, and from there to Sasuke and Sakura's first meeting.
