Chapter 6: Torment beyond the Grave
(Meanwhile, at night…)
Time: 11:15am
It was darkening in the sky over the city that never slept Metropolis, as the sun was almost set over the city. It was populated in nearly every part of the city, where many people were happy and enjoying their lives, laughing, and enjoying the company of their friends and loved ones… All except one person…
Down a dark alleyway, walked a hooded figure, who was wearing a black leather raincoat, a filthy Black pullover hoodie, muddy black jeans, and worn black sneakers, carrying a backpack full of stolen food and water. The figure also had long messy Strawberry Blonde hair, and she also had tear streams running from her eyes… constantly crying… from the pain, the suffering, the horror, that she had caused, four years ago to this very night… The night that she: Carrie White, killed so many people, and destroyed her school, during the night of her Senior Prom…
*Flashback to one year later*
Date: Saturday 22nd June 2013
Time: 9:00pm
Location: Thomas Ewen High School, Chamberlain, Maine, USA
Carrie was being guided and walking up to the gym hall prom stage, as she and her prom date: Tommy Ross, had been announced as the king & queen of the prom. Tommy was one of the popular boys in the school, who was also boyfriend to one of the popular girls: Sue Snell. Unbeknown to Carrie, Tommy had taken her to prom, because Sue had asked him to, as an act of kindness and redemption, due to her involvement with when Carrie had a meltdown, when she thought she was bleeding to death after gym class, when she was having her first period. Despite Carrie's pleas for help, all the girls in her class, led by Chris Hargensen, just laughed at her, and threw tampons at her, while all chanting 'Plug it up', as Chris recorded it on her phone, which she later uploaded onto the internet…
Even at home, Carrie's life was no different to how it was at school… Carrie's mother: Margaret White, was a mentally unstable religiously fanatical Zealot, who believed everything was sinful, and would punish her daughter, even when she never did anything wrong, by hitting her with bibles' or locking her in the 'Prayer Closet', making her pray for forgiveness…
Chris's video was seen by the school gym teacher: Rita Desjardin, who she, and the school principal: Henry Morton, punished the girls responsible for the video, with longer gym classes as part of their detention, anyone who refused, who be banned from attending prom, which is exactly what Chris did, and she was banned from Prom. Chris's father and lawyer: John Hargensen, attempted to sue the school, only so he heard there was evidence against Chris, which she refused to show, either way, she was still banned from prom…
Chris didn't take her punishment well, and plotted revenge… night before prom, Chris went to the local farm, along with her boyfriend: Billy Nolan, and his gang members: Jackie Talbot & Kenny Garson, where they killed a pig and extracted its blood into a bucket…
As Carrie & Tommy were on stage, as everyone clapped and cheered for them, Chris and Billy were right above them, ready to prank Carrie. Sue attempted to get to Carrie & Tommy, to warn them, only for Rita to push and lock her outside the gym hall, giving Chris and Billy their chance, as they yanked the bucket over, causing the blood to fall and splash and splatter all over Carrie, causing everyone to gasp in shock…
"WHAT THE HELL?!" Tommy yelled in anger…
Chris's best friend: Tina Blake, then played the video of Carrie's gym class meltdown, causing nearly everyone to laugh at Carrie… Carrie tried to leave the stage in humiliation, but when Rita tried to reach out to her, Carrie used her secret power, and pushed Rita to the floor, shocking everyone again… unbeknown to Carrie, the bucket came loose from above, and fatally hit Tommy, killing him… mourning over Tommy's lifeless body, realizing this was all a prank, something from within Carrie snapped…
Carrie took out all her lifetime of anger and hatred, upon nearly everyone, by using her powers on them, especially all those who were friends of Chris… Carrie then unleashed a massive shockwave, sending people to the floor or flying, before locking all the fire escape doors… Heather Shyres was fatally smashed into one of the fire escape doors, face first… Jackie and Kenny were crashed by the bleachers while trying to use them to escape, Nicki and Lizzy Watson were pushed over by Carrie's powers, while Carrie activated the water sprinklers, before being trampled to death by people trying to escape… Carrie then ripped some of the electric cables, which caused a fire to spread throughout the hall… Tina was whipped with the electric cables, before her dress caught fire from burning debris, and burning to death… Carrie then grabbed Rita by the throat with her powers, lifting her up off the floor, then dropping the electrical cables onto the watered floor, electrocuting anyone standing within the vicinity… Rita was terrified, thinking Carrie was going to drop her and allow her to be electrocuted too, only for Carrie to throw her to safety on the stage, next to Tommy's body, before Carrie floated out of the school…
As the school was engulphed in flames, Chris and Billy attempted to escape the destruction they had made Carrie commit… As they drove away in Billy's car, Carrie, who had noticed them, cut off their attempt to escape, by destroying the road before them, giving them no choice, but to turn around, to see Carrie ahead of them… Chris urged Billy to run over and kill Carrie, but as they were about to hit her, Carrie used her powers to crash the car, as Billy's face hit the steering wheel, killing him… Chris then tried, but only for Carrie to lift the car off the road, then throw it into the nearby Gas Station, as Chris's face went through the windscreen… Carrie then went over to the car, to see Chris's face stuck In the windscreen, with large glass shards, pierced into her face, as she bled to death… as Chris's body stopped functioning, Carrie then walked away, before causing a nearby powerline, to snap and fall on the car, causing it and the gas station to explode…
Carrie then returned home, to get washed and cleaned. After Carrie changed into her nightdress, she was comforted by her mother, only for her to literally stab her daughter in the back with a large kitchen knife, before Carrie sent her flying…
When Margaret caught up with Carrie, she continued to slash and injure Carrie, thinking she was possessed by the devil, but as Margaret was about to deliver the fatal blow, Carrie stopped her with her powers, before throwing all the knives in the kitchen at her mother, fatally crucifying her against the prayer closet…
After freeing her mother, and having her die in her arms, Carrie mourned her death, before Sue arrived, trying to apologize and help Carrie… Carrie refused at first, as she caused the sky to rain stones, causing the house to collapse… Sue tried to save Carrie, but after realizing Sue had nothing to do with Chris's prank, and knowing all that she had done, Carrie did one final act of kindness, using her powers, to send Sue safely out of the house, as the ground swallowed the house, with Carrie inside…
*Flashback ends*
Since that night, Carrie's body was recovered from the wreckage of her destroyed home, before she and her mother were buried together in the local cemetery… But sometime after their burial, Carrie woke up, she had survived, mistaken for dead… Carrie managed to dig herself out her and her mother's grave, before managing to escape her hometown unnoticed, before going on the run, not caring where she'd end up… within that time, for the past year, she remained in New York, with no intention of communicating with the outside world, believing someone might recognize her from what she had done back home…
Homeless, and with no job, Carrie could only survive by stealing food, water and other needs from wherever she needed to… as much as she knew it was against one of the ten commandments: 'Thou shall not steal', Carrie didn't really have much other choice… despite being afraid of being found, she felt regret, not just for killing all those who hurt her, but also the fact she'd left those who had showed her care behind…
Carrie eventually reached her homeless shelter, in an old abandoned condemned building, that she had taken up residence in, since she got to New York… Carrie then took off her backpack, and sat on her bed, as she took some food out of it, before eating it…
Once she'd finished, she continued to sit on her bed, staring out into the darkness of the building, continuously remembering her pain, and suffering to both herself, as well as those she killed on prom night…
Carrie then took out some photos she'd kept since she scavenged for supplies during her escape from Chamberlain. The photos she looked at were of some of those who hurt her, that she killed, as she looked at the photos of Heather, Kenny, Nicki, Lizzy, Jackie, Tina, Billy, Chris, even her mother… before she got to the photos of people, that she didn't kill that night: Tommy, despite his survivor, George, Erika, Rita, Morton, even Sue…
Carrie then broke down again, as she threw the photos to the ground, in a mixture of self-loathing, anger, and sorrow, not just for killing her tormentors, but also for running away from those who could have helped her…
"I'm sorry… I'm so sorry…" Carrie cried into her hands…
Carrie walked and entered the apartment, then fell back onto her bed, before deciding to call it another night, as she then moved about, to get her head onto her pillow, before then pulling up her quilt, before curling up & crying herself to sleep once more…
(3 quarters of an Hour later…)
"Carrie… Carrie… Carrie…" A voice echoed, causing Carrie to moan and groan, as she slowly began to open her eyes…
Carrie could a brightly glowing figure before her, as she opened her eyes more… she looked up… what she saw, caused to jump up in horror, before she froze with fear… standing before her… was a transparently lit form of Chris…
Chris looked exactly how she looked when she died… her clothes were the same, but her face was pierced with large and thick shards of glass, with blood streaming from her wounds…
Carrie then noticed more glows coming from all around her…
"I can't believe it." Carrie replied, as she looked around…
