Chapter 9: Superman saves the day
The family tried to drive to another spot where the kids looked back at the fire.
"What is going on?" Mom asked in concern.
"I don't know. But we need to call the forest rangers on this." Dad replied.
"Daddy look out!" Girl called.
The Dad hit the brake as more fire was in their way he tried to pull back only for fire branches to fall behind them making the little girl scream the parents looked back the kids cried in fear as the parents looked in horror.
"We're trapped!" Mom replied.
Feeling hopeless, the family hugged each other.
"No matter what happens…we'll always be together." Dad replied.
The fire got closer and closer as the family closed their eyes waiting for the end till all of a sudden…
…the fire was being put out by a strange wind, nothing like they had ever seen.

And the boy looked to the left window and pointed out.
"Mom, Dad, look!" Boy said.
The family looked where he pointed and saw…SUPERMAN!
And he was blowing his wind breath to put out the fire and he did it in a heartbeat he approached the truck and nodded to them it was safe the family got out as the parents looked at Superman in shock and the kids looked at him in amazement.
"Is everyone okay?" Superman asked in concern.
"Yes. Thank you." Woman replied.
"You…you…you're Superman from Metropolis. Why are you in Chamberlain?" Man asked in concern.
"I was just in the neighborhood. But there's still more fire nearby. But you all can get back out in town by heading north. You'll find the street just two miles from here." Superman replied.
"Thanks for saving us." Girl replied.
"Yeah. You're a real superhero!" Boy replied.
"It was my pleasure." Superman replied.
Superman then off flying straight up making crackling impacts in the sky.
But as soon as he was high enough he stopped to look down to see what really caused Harry and Greg to be killed by Carrie burning into the ground.
He seeing it at the two students from Ewen High School he knew whoever or whatever was leaving them had something to do with these incidents.
He then looked over hearing people screaming with his super hearing and took off like a rocket.
(One minute later...)
On the streets of Chamberlain people were walking and driving like anyone would a male driver was stuck in traffic mildly frustrated but when his eyes looked up he had a freaked out reaction.
"WHAT IN THE HOLY?!" Driver called.
He felt his car crash into another which caused him to fall back but soon jumped out of his car as the driver in front of him got out pissed.
"What the fuck pal?! You just hit my car!" Second Driver called.
"Look! There in the streets!" First Driver replied.
He did and gasped herself as others did even recorded videos off their phones. It was a standing humanoid figure in the streets that was unknown to them was Carrie.
Everyone was freaking out and amazed at the same time till…
…Carrie launched herself into a building causing it to slowly collapse. People on the ground screamed in shock and people in the building screamed in terror when it began to collapse.
But then…the building's fell suddenly…BROKE!
And it was being pushed back to it's place…by Superman!
Some people cheered but some yelled in anger thinking Superman might have caused it given the people in Chamberlain seen the news of Metropolis.
Either way there were no casualties Superman looked around for anything unusual now knowing officially these weren't accidents given the symbol he saw but with nothing out of the ordinary there was nothing to be found and soon Superman took off…
(Later at Metropolis at the Daily Planet…)
Everyone there including Lois and Perry…
Heard everything that just happened in Chamberlain just now.
The building.
The forest fire.
And the two students were killed by Carrie.
But…brighter side no one was killed thanks to Superman.
Which made Lois smile.
"He's amazing." Lois replied.
"What Lois?" Perry asked in concern.
"Huh? Oh…just talking to myself." Lois replied.
"Well I don't think you're the only one. I'm sure everyone's asking themselves what the hell is going on down there." Perry replied.
"No idea. I tried looking into it myself but unfortunately I hit dead ends." Lois replied.
"And where the hell is Kent? He's supposed to be on that story on the Metropolis reconstruction." Perry replied.
"We…switched assignments. He wanted to cover the Chamberlain case." Lois replied.
"I don't remember giving you two permission to switched assignments." Perry replied.
"It just came up. Besides, Clark needs a field assignment if he's gonna be here." Lois replied.
"Does he have any experience in the field?" Perry asked in concern.
"Plenty. He was in the boy scouts when he was a kid." Lois replied.
"Alright but I want that article ready by the end of the week Lois." Perry replied.
"On it." Lois replied.
Perry left for his office as Lois looked back to the TV seeing the reports in Chamberlain and Superman saving the day…
