The Eclector made its way through the stars where it was parked outside of the atmosphere of the planet Contraxia, where they liked to hang out for a drink and to meet up with their allies in the galaxy. Taking one of their smaller ships to the planet's surface, they were greeted by applause from the crowd in the bar. The people here all knew and respected the team. They were merely bounty hunters and outlaws to the entire galaxy, but to the people who really knew them, they were considered heroes and protectors.
"To the Defenders!"
"Well, look who's here!" Korg, one of the many people they rescued from Skaar a few months back. "It's Man-Spider and his heroic friends."
"Hey, Korg," Peter said as he approached the bar. "Start up a tab for us, would you?"
"Sure, your usual table?" Korg asks.
"If it's available," Peter confirmed as they headed to the table. He took a seat and sighed as he took a seat, happy to be out of his armor. "Defenders!"
"Defenders!" Rocket and Elsa cheered, raising their glasses.
"I am Groot!" Groot cheered.
"Okay, so if you had to pick a favorite heist..." one of the residents of the bar asks.
"Nah, I couldn't." Peter shrugged. "Elsa?"
"Hm, interesting question," Elsa said. "How about the Central Bank Heist on Tarnax IX?"
"Ooh, that was a fun one!" Rocket agreed. "Especially with that new gadget Parker made."
"Repulsers were a fun addition to the gear." Peter agreed.
"What about the time you armed the Ankara's resistance?" Another asked.
"Oof, that was a doozy," Elsa said with a shutter. "Used so much of my power that day."
"Oh, how about when you stopped Ronin the Accuser?" Someone asked.
"Oh, that was a party!" Rocket cried with a laugh. "The look on his face when that planet exploded underneath him! He was all ~gasp~ BOOM!"
"Luckily that planet was evacuated before he even got there," Peter said with a chuckle. "I'm gonna get another drink."
"Get me one," Elsa asked.
"You got it, milady," Peter promised.
Peter approached the bar and passed a few prostitutes who were looking for someone willing to pay for their services. He passed a green-skinned Zehoberei that got his attention.
"Hey there, handsome." She greeted him.
"Gamora." Peter sighed as he recognized her. "What, are you still trying this?"
"What can I say?" Gamora said, caressing his neck. "You're irresistible to a lot of girls here."
"And a lot of girls had to deal with my girlfriend freezing their fingers." Peter reminded her.
Gamora chuckled as she leaned into his ear. "Maybe she should learn to share."
"Considering she's staring ice daggers down at us, I recommend we stop," Peter said.
Gamora sighed as she stepped back. "Let me know if she ever dumps you, Spider-Man." She said as she flicked his jacket's zipper. "See you around."
Peter sighed as he walked off past the others and made it to the bar. He placed his card down with the money he hoped would cover the drinks. But the man behind the bar handed the card back.
"Your money is no good here." The Kylosian said.
"Please." Peter sighed, seeing this all the time. "I insist."
"No, really, we only take cash," He explained.
Peter nodded, understanding now. "Oh, yeah, sorry, I have cash."
"Wait, you're Spider-Man!" The Kylosian proclaimed. "You saved my home world from a Kree invasion."
"Oh, yeah," Peter recognized the time. "It was all in a day's work."
"No, it took several days," Kylosian said. "Nine, in fact." He then snapped his fingers and a camera came flying over. "Let us take a picture to send to my wife and daughter!"
Peter was then yanked over as he took the photo. Peter didn't look comfortable considering his stomach was slammed against the counter to get the photo.
"Wow, we should take another picture. You look terrible." The Kylosian said. "I look great."
"I'm sure it's fine," Peter said.
"No, I insist," Kylosian said. "It is truly an awful picture."
"I don't know." A female voice called, Peter looked over and was surprised to see it was a familiar Luphomoid. She wore a nice silver dress, while her dark blue hair flowed down her shoulders. "He looks pretty good from where I'm standing."
"Nebula." Peter was happy to see her.
Nebula was a Luphomoid who was basically their dealer of sorts. They supplied her with artifacts from time to time, and she would give them information she heard through her connections with Thanos.
"Hey, Parker," Nebula said with a grin.
Peter brought Nebula to the side where he showed off their recent prize. The Power Stone. She looked over it in surprise to see how well they pulled off the heist
"Pretty valuable loot," Nebula commented. "You know what you've got here?"
"Something valuable that'll get us closer to Thanos?" Peter asks.
Nebula chuckled. "Something close to that." She then tossed the Orb back to him. "Same deal as usual? Give you information, and I get a cut of the money?"
"That's always the deal," Peter said with a sigh. "How's your family?"
"Good, ever since your crew scared Thanos off from our homeworld," Nebula stated as she took a drink. "How's everyone? You keeping Rocket from blowing up the galaxy?"
"Trying at least." Peter chuckled.
"And Elsa?" Nebula wonders. "She still staying away from home?"
"Yeah, she's hell-bent on not going back until we find her sister," Peter confirmed with a sigh. "Can't say she isn't determined."
"You of all people should understand that," Nebula commented. "You could have gone home ages ago. But you choose to stay and help the Galaxy. You think about going back?"
"What can I say?" Peter sighed. "I'd be a freak. I'd be turned into a science experiment. And... I don't even know the whereabouts of my family. I always moved around a lot as a kid, never really staying in one place. So, even if I went back, and I wasn't gunned down by the government for being suspected as an alien, I wouldn't know where or how to find them."
Nebula nodded with a sigh. "Sorry."
"It's fine," Peter said. "So... what have you got for us?"
"Well, this one is a bit of a favor for a friend," Nebula said, gesturing to someone who was approaching.
Looking over to where she was looking, Peter was surprised to see a Nova Corp officer. She walked her way over and removed her helmet to reveal that it was Carol Danvers. She was once a member of the Kree Empire before the Defenders helped her see the light of what they were doing and abandoned her captors. They also removed some sort of inhibitor that was containing her raw power and left them to join the Nova Corps to spread real help across the galaxy.
"Peter Parker."
"Carol," Peter was happy to see her as he gave her a hug. "Staying out of trouble?"
"Only as much as you," Carol stated as she looked at Nebula. "You tell him?"
"Not yet," Nebula said. "Carol here ahs an interesting idea to stop Thanos and help more of the galaxy."
Peter seemed interested in hearing more of this idea.
