One Piece: Fox Down - Chapter 2: Impel Down
Hello! Beloved readers~! Your man Iskander Mandoraekon is back with another installation for the Drabbles and the story, FOX DOWN!
Worry not my dear friends, I am working on the next instalment of Dawn/Dusk as we speak and crankin' out other story ideas.
In this chapter, we will see the official start of the story now that Naruto-kun is all grown up and ready to kick ass. Twenty years have passed since that fateful day that the Elemental Nations joined the World Government at the cost of the Jinchūriki's freedoms! And to kick off our story, we have the now thirty-three-year-old Naruto receiving a surprise visitor with a deal he can't refuse!
By that I mean, of course he's gonna refuse it.

-Impel Down, Level 6: Eternal Hell, 1527 C.E.; Five weeks before series start-
"Hn." A pair of crimson eyes opened in the dark of the desolate cell as the silence of the Eternal Hell was disrupted, they glowed in the deep gloom of the lowest level of Impel Down, appearing demonic in their appearance with a lupine slit present for the pupil before the red bled back into a bright, hard blue. "Who's there?"
"…"
Nobody answered, though many of the man's fellow prisoners glanced over from their own cells towards the usually silent man. It had been a rare occurrence over the last twenty years for anybody to hear him speak at all after he'd given up on having his cries of innocence heard by the tyrannical prison staff.
Then they were all startled when the shadows seemed to shift, ejecting a tall man with spiky black hair cascading down his back and an orange, spiraling mask attached to his face, a single hole resided on the mask, where a glowing crimson eye peered through it at the man's surroundings, many of the prisoners shying back from the odd, dancing tomoe in his eye.
In front of him stood a familiar short form adorned with the uniform of Impel Down's guards. His appearance was that of an imp in a white suit with a yellow shirt underneath, a black tie and he is also seen wearing yellow gloves. He wore a white sun hat with two horns coming out of it, bat wings growing out from his back. The prisoner would have sneered at the familiar midget that had antagonized him many times since his arrival in Impel Down if not for the fact that the bastard's eyes were empty of all conscious thought and his expression nothing more than a daze.
He wasn't even aware of where he was or what he was doing…
A genjutsu.
"Quite impressive Naruto-kun~!" The stranger clapped his gloved hands together as he approached Naruto's cell, his eye taking in the Jinchūriki's appearance.
Much has changed over the course of twenty years. Gone was any remainder of the Uzumaki's baby fat that had clung to him as a genin, and gone was the short stature of being just under five feet tall, replaced now by a full-grown man that the newcomer imagined would stand above six feet if he rose from his seated position.
Due to not having access to a razor of any kind in his long imprisonment, what had once been short, spiky locks had grown into a long, wild, golden mane that stretched from his head down to his knees, its length draped over him in his seated position, acting almost like a blanket against the light chill ever-present in the dungeon. His once smooth jaw had grown a somewhat wild beard that hung down to the bottom of his chest in a tangled mess similar in color to his golden hair, though, oddly enough, with streaks of crimson.
Perhaps a little bit of his Uzumaki lineage showing through…?
Lastly, despite the chakra inhibitors sealing away his and the Kyūbi's chakra, as well as the shackles attached to his wrists and feet, the captive Jinchūriki wasn't stick thin like one would think a long-term prisoner would be but held a rather strong physique.
The newcomer assumed it was most likely due to using exercise to alleviate some of the monotonous boredom he could see on the faces of the other prisoners, sitting in this Hell with nothing to do.
"Despite having your chakra sealed, you were able to see through my genjutsu." The masked figure chuckled as he continued. "Most impressive."
"Nothing of the sort." Naruto rolled his eyes as he leaned against his corner, staring in almost disinterest. "I've merely had more than enough time to grow accustomed to the number of people breathing in these cells. Genjutsu or not, you merely hid your physical presence from everyone here, I could still hear you and the runt breathing."
The man's head tilted in what Naruto could only assume was interest. "Remarkable. Though I should have expected no less from the Yondaime's son."
Naruto merely raised a brow and let the silence settle between them, quite sure that the man was trying to get a rise out of him with this information.
"Not going to react, Naruto-kun?" The man's head tilted again, this time in confusion.
"No." Naruto shrugged haplessly. "I figured that bit out a long time ago, so I'm not really surprised."
The Jinchūriki was sure the man pouted behind his mask at having his fun spoiled.
"Now. Who are you?" Naruto asked with no small amount of annoyance, his head shifting to fix the interloper with a gimlet eye. "And what do you want? Surely it isn't just to poke fun at prisoners. You wouldn't have risked coming so deep into Impel Down and manipulating one of the chief guards just for that."
"Very true, Naruto-kun." The masked man nodded, settling his arms against the cell door as he leaned closer in a more relaxed manner. "I suppose you aren't the inattentive little boy you used to be. Prison life sure does change a person." When he failed to get a rise out of the thirty-three-year-old genin he continued. "I am Tobi. I am a member of the Akatsuki, and for the last twenty years, my group has been searching for you Jinchūriki. The ones that didn't escape the World Government, that is."
"Akatsuki…?" Naruto muttered as if he were tasting the odd word before his eyes fell on the long black coat Tobi was wearing and the familiar red clouds on them, a memory coming to the forefront of his mind. "You are in that group that Itachi Uchiha and Fishsticks is part of."
Tobi snorted at Naruto's nickname for the deadliest of the Seven Swordsmen of the Hidden Mist. If he didn't respect Kisame so much, he'd probably have thought about using it on the shark-like shinobi when he returned. "Yes. Though, unfortunately, Itachi-san is no longer with us."
"Did Sasuke catch up to him?"
Tobi pulled his head back a little in surprise at Naruto's question. "Yes, yes, he did. About thirteen years ago to be exact. It's surprising that you knew that Naruto-kun."
"I didn't." Naruto shrugged. "However, given that it was Sasuke's life goal, it was an educated guess at best considering how strong Itachi was."
"Ah."
"You still haven't told me why you are here exactly." Naruto continued as his eyes fixed with the Sharingan situated behind the mask. "If it were to just find the Jinchūriki, you wouldn't be stopping to engage me in conversation."
"Of course, of course." Tobi chuckled darkly while switching his attention to the locks and hinges of the cell door before shrugging and simply walking through the mass of sea stone and iron like a phantom. Once inside, he sank into a sitting position in front of the prisoner. "As I was saying, the Akatsuki's has been to locate and obtain all nine Jinchūriki. Which unfortunately was stalled when the World Government came blundering into the Elemental Nations and absconded with most of you."
"Most of us?"
"Yes." Tobi nodded solemnly. "While the World Government got their hands on the Three-to-Seven Tails, plus you, Number Nine, the Ichibi managed to escape from Suna with the aid of his siblings and the Yondaime Raikage absconded with Hachibi and Nibi before the World Government's forces could arrive at Kumogakure, both groups escaping out to sea. The Raikage and the loyal Shinobi forces that joined his escape became a group of pirates known as the Cloud Wolf Pirates that eventually joined up with the Whitebeard Fleet. As for the Kazekage's children? Well… I am a little ashamed to say that we lost track of them sixteen years ago."
"So, Gaara managed to escape…?" Naruto mumbled as he glanced down at his shackled wrists, the skin no longer chafing or raw after years of growing used to their presence. "I suppose that's good to know."
"Yes… Quite."
Naruto felt a flicker of amusement at the slight annoyed tone the man made before it returned to its lighter, happier tone.
"Thereafter, it took the Akatsuki a good, long while to discover where the World Government had transported you and the other captured Jinchūriki, eventually arriving here." Tobi gestured widely at the rest of Level Six. "I mean, it should have been an obvious choice at first, but we still checked all over…"
"And you decided to stay and talk to me, why?"
"That my dear, Naruto-kun~!" Tobi giggled in a boyish manner. "Is to offer you and your fellow Jinchūriki an escape from this eternal torment. It would of course be at the cost of your lives as we seal away the terrible beasties residing within your seals, but you would be free from the torment you've faced for the last twenty years. Know peace, and perhaps, in the distant future, be reborn with a new lot in life."
"Freedom…" Naruto murmured as his eyes gained a far-away look. "At the cost of my life…?"
"Yes."
"And what would sealing the Kyūbi do, exactly?"
Tobi smiled wryly beneath his mask. "Initially. It was meant to revive a powerful weapon from ages long past that would be under Akatsuki's control to force all of the rival nations of our homeland into a forced ceasefire. If they were too scared of us and our weapon to act, then they would be too scared to initiate another war." Naruto could almost see the man's grimace despite his mask as his demeanor took on an annoyed continence. "However, the World Government happened, and we learned that the world is much bigger than it was believed to be. Our plan shifted to not only prevent war from rising in our homeland again, but to also have an incredibly powerful deterrent pointed at the invasive World Government that may threaten our shores again."
"A total peace…" Naruto summed up as he leaned his head back against the cool stone of his cell's wall. "At the price of overwhelming fear. Ero-Sannin wouldn't have liked you."
"Ero-Sannin…?" Tobi muttered before a light bulb went off over his head. "Oh. You mean the Toad Sage."
"Yeah. The old fucker told me that he wanted peace for the Elemental Nations created through mutual understanding." Naruto snorted as he rolled his eyes at the memory, one of the last ones he had of Jiraiya before Tsunade and his Team betrayed him to the World Government, his eyes filling with a wrathful madness for a moment before it settled. "The only way there would be peace in this world is if all sapient life was to be purged."
Tobi observed the depressed Jinchūriki in silence as Naruto seemed to stare unseeing up at the ceiling. Tobi observed the Uzumaki seem to shrink in on himself, showing a tired weakness as he considered the Akatsuki member's offer of freeing him and the other Jinchūriki, even if that meant dying.
The wild golden mane shifted as blue eyes turned to gaze on the further away form of an olive-skinned woman and then onto several others: an old, short man, his once crimson hair long since turned stark white; a heavily bandaged giant of a man with greying brown hair who had once been wrapped up in heavy armor when Naruto had first seen him; a short, green-haired man that appeared younger than Naruto if not for the fact that his hair had grey streaks running through it; a brown haired man dressed in the remnants of a blue yukata.
"Would you be able to make it quick?"
Tobi jerked for a moment when Naruto's voice spoke up again after ten minutes of long silence, Sharingan met sky blue as the masked Akatsuki member considered the prisoner's words.
"Possibly." Tobi nodded a little reluctantly as his hand rose to cup the bottom of his mask. "Generally unsealing a Biju from their Jinchūriki is a very painful process because of how entangled they've become with the host's chakra coils, though I suppose we can figure out a way to keep you and the others blissfully asleep and unaware of the pain your body would be going through before we extract the beasts."
"Then I will accept…" Naruto held his hand out to the masked shinobi, a single red eye scrutinizing it for a moment before reaching out and shaking the man's hand. As they stood up though, the Uzumaki continued speaking. "Though I do have a couple requests before we go to wherever your group is."
"…" Tobi glanced back at him just as he'd been about to phase through the cell door again. "And that would be?"
"I want to kill him…" Naruto pointed at the midget that Tobi had put in a genjutsu to get into Impel Down. His lips pulling back in a dark sneer of loathing directed at the source of many of his torments, a deep, animalistic growl forming in his chest at the thought of getting payback against the midget.
Tobi looked between Naruto and Saldeath a couple of times before shrugging, clearly figuring out that there was bad blood between the two, not that it was surprising given the tortures Impel Down's staff regularly put the prisoners of the upper floors through. He'd seen quite a lot of shit while Saldeath unknowingly escorted him to his destination.
Some of what Impel Down did to its prisoners would have made even the hardest, and cruelest of the Akatsuki, past or present, falter. Though he supposed Orochimaru might've incorporated a few of them out of twisted amusement.
"And what else?" Tobi asked as he remembered that Naruto had asked for a couple things.
"…" Naruto turned his gaze up towards the ceiling again, his eyes clouding over as if imagining something. "I want to see the sky again, to see the sun rise and feel its heat on my skin…"
The masked man pursed his lips for a moment before nodding. It was a small thing to ask for that he'd be willing to give. Even with how tumultuous his own life had been, he couldn't imagine being forced to endure twenty years of non-stop darkness without being able to feel the warmth of the sun. "Very well, Naruto-kun…" He glanced at the imp that had led him down into Level Six. "Do make it quick though, I'd like to be gone before some of the staff realize something is off."
"Of course."
The masked man grabbed the Jinchūriki's shoulder and the two of them seemed to melt through the bars, an interesting experience for the former genin. For the briefest of moments, when his eyes passed through the thick bars, Naruto could swear he saw a dark world with white platforms suspended in the void before his vision returned to the real world.
Soon, Naruto was standing in front of Saldeath and looked over his shoulder at Tobi. "Would you mind…?"
Tobi blinked before following the blond's gaze to the hypnotized midget and realized what he desired. "Oh! Of course, apologies." His Sharingan flared before dispelling the genjutsu.
Saldeath blinked as the genjutsu fell away from his senses, his expression shedding its dazed features as he looked wildly around, his surroundings very different from where he'd been in the barracks in what seemed to be mere seconds prior. "What the-?!"
Then the little bastard's eyes locked onto the person standing in front of him, his dark eyes dilating in concern and shock. "You! What are you doing out of yo-?!" He wasn't able to finish, as at that moment Naruto's large hand wrapped itself tightly around the man's neck in a vice grip, slowly closing tighter and tighter.
He may not have access to his chakra due to the restraints, but only being able to exercise to alleviate the boredom of sitting in a cell for twenty years had given Naruto a great deal of physical strength.
Thankfully the midget was without his usual weapon or implements of torture, and thus couldn't quite defend himself when Naruto raised his free hand and began to savagely beat the imp with powerful punches. Saldeath squealed and struggled against the grip cutting off his air supply while trying to simultaneously defend himself against the blows raining down on his quickly turning purple face and body.
Tobi stood back when blood began flying from the strikes, content to watch the former prisoner get his long overdue vengeance against his tormentor. The other prisoners cheering on their fellow inmate with chants of bloodlust, enjoying the sight of one of Impel Down's tyrants getting their just rewards.
All too soon for their liking, Naruto stepped back, huffing with an enraged snarl as he glared down at the ruins of Saldeath's beaten body, the imp's skull was caved in and broken from the force behind Naruto's strikes and his small body looked as if it had been struck repeatedly by hammers. Bones piercing out of the man's body, clearly broken and his limbs stuck at odd angles. The ground around him was splattered with his blood and there was barely a piece of flesh attached to the newly deceased man that wasn't colored with blood or black and blue.
It brought a tear to Tobi's eye that he dramatically wiped away. It was always good to see tormentors get their just deserts, and it reminded him of his youth when witnessing the man's mother fly into a crimson rage. Usually when called a 'Tomato'.
"If you are do-?" Tobi began, placing a gloved hand on Naruto's shaking shoulder before freezing as he felt a dark sensation of doom overcome him just before with reflexes and speed he wasn't expecting, a gore-covered hand flashed up over the Jinchūriki's shoulder and sharp fingers pierced through the Akatsuki member's neck. 'What?!'
"That felt good." Naruto growled as he stared down at the gasping Uchiha as the man dropped to his knees, his hands coming up to grasp at his ripped open throat as he struggled to breath. His single eye wide behind his mask as he saw his esophagus held in his surprise attacker's hand. Tears bubbled up in his eye as his gaze moved up to Naruto's shadowed face, fear and utter surprise showing in his gaze as the Uzumaki's expression went from seemingly broken and pliable to a razor sharpness that he'd only ever seen on the man's father.
The Jinchūriki was not as broken by his imprisonment as he'd thought he'd be.
Really. The fact the genin had detected him despite his genjutsu-enhanced stealth should have tipped him off, but he'd been cocky in believing that two long decades worth of sitting in a small prison cell would have broken the younger man.
"Now." Naruto said as he squatted down in front of his liberator, tossing the man's esophagus away to land in a wet splat in front of Catarina Devon's cell much to the long-nosed woman's dark amusement. A bloody hand came up to grab the spiral mask covering Tobi's face and pulling it off the suffocating man's head before casting it away to stare dispassionately at the scarred face beneath. "I'm sure you're wondering 'Why?! Why did he do this?! Everything was going according to plan!' It is simple really…" Naruto grasped the sides of Tobi's head in a powerful grip as he glared into the man's sole eye. "I've had a very long time to talk to the damnable fox residing in my gut. It was either have a conversation with the fox and get to know him or just exercise, eat, sleep and shit my life away."
Tobi could feel his life slipping away as the Uzumaki talked, the only reason he wasn't dropping to the ground to gag on his last breath as his strength left his body was because of Naruto's grasp on his head.
"While I talked to the fox, I learned a great many things about him and what his life had been before he'd been sealed inside me." Naruto continued, dark amusement evident in his eyes as they became crimson and slit again. "That includes who my parents were and what happened to them, and of course… the person that caused their deaths by freeing the Kyūbi and having it attack Konoha."
The blurry eye widened at that information, seeing how it was a rather horrible idea to be the one to come talk to the Uzumaki now that he knew that. He had no doubt that the Kyūbi would be able to remember the appearance and feeling of the chakra of the shinobi that had controlled it into rampaging.
Nobody liked having their minds controlled. Least of all one of the powerful Biju.
"I thank you for freeing me from that cell, though. Madara-san." Tobi couldn't even muster up any surprise about Naruto calling him that as his hands began losing all feeling and fell from his ruined throat, blood flowing freely from the sundered breathing tube. "I really do. However." The Uzumaki's eyes widened as his voice gained a deep, guttural growl, the crimson orbs dancing with a vengeful light of madness. Gods, he was insane… "I have no intention of dying any time soon. I have so much to do before then, so many lives to wreak bloody vengeance upon before I am anywhere near satisfied with laying down my arms."
Tobi could only gurgle in response, finding irony in his situation. With his Hashirama-cell body parts he should have been able to tank quite a few heavy, lethal strikes, even if his heart was heavily damaged… but there wasn't much that could be done when someone had their throat ripped out. The excruciating pain of the gaping wound and inability to fill his lungs with much needed air immediately crippled any attempt he could have made to fight back no matter how much chakra he had or how many jutsu he possessed. He couldn't speak without air or the supporting muscles in his throat. He most certainly could barely mold any chakra with the amount of pain he was in and the growing dark spots in his vision denoted his lack of oxygen reaching the brain.
"Now." Naruto's voice appeared faint to the dying Uchiha despite the fact that his tone had not changed. "I must apologize for the deception, Uchiha. But I'm going to have to refuse your, so very kind offer."
A twist of his hands resulted in a brutal snap as Tobi's neck was broken and all life left the man's features. Naruto tilted his head to the side as if listening to something that only he could hear, before speaking again much to the normal prisoner's confusion. "Oh? They can do that?" Crimson eyes fell upon the unseeing Sharingan in the dead man's socket. "Well then. Just to make sure he won't be getting back up…"
Naruto's right hand descended upon Tobi's face and gouged out the man's Sharingan eye with his fingers in a sickening squelch. Staring down at the eye dispassionately for a long moment, his right hand tightened into a fist and crushed the orb into goo.
"Fuckin' Uchiha shits and their stupid-ass broken eyes…" Naruto sneered as he wiped the goo off his hands before straightening back up and stretching, popping his back. "Ahh… It feels good to be out of that cramped cell."
By now, all the man's fellow prisoners had crowded the front of their individual cells, eager faces watching the first escapee's movements as he returned to Saldeath's ruined corpse and began rooting around the man's bloody uniform until he pulled a ring of keys from the man's coat pocket. The ring was heavily dented from enduring the force of Naruto's earlier blows but was intact for the most part. It only took a few failed tries before he found a key that fit his shackles.
"Freedom feels good…" Naruto smirked as the shackles that had held him prisoner for over twenty years of his life fell from his scarred wrists, joined quickly by those clasped around his ankles. "Now… for these annoying things." Using the jagged end of the broken key ring, Naruto cut the pieces of seal-inscribed paper wrapped around his wrists down the middle, bisecting each one until they fell in scraps to the floor.
Almost immediately, the prisoners jerked back as a malevolent aura burst out from Naruto as his chakra and the chakra of the nine-tailed demon fox residing within him was unsealed for the first time in two decades. The great chamber of Impel Down's sixth level quaked and the air itself vibrated violently.
Naruto could only imagine what the people on the upper levels experienced when the foundation of Impel Down seemed to shake beneath their feet.
"Uzumaki…" The tired voice of an old man called out after a couple minutes of Naruto enjoying the feeling of his unsealed chakra, causing the blond to look over at the cell containing the eldest of his fellow Jinchūriki. "If you are done. Would you mind freeing us as well?"
Four more pairs of eyes joined the old man in hope as the other Jinchūriki gazed upon their escaped comrade.
"…Of course." Naruto nodded after a moment of eye contact with the ex-Iwa shinobi. A long couple of strides brought him to the cage door, and only a couple minutes later had him finding the key to open the doors. "Don't worry, brothers. Sister. I wouldn't dream of leaving you down here in this Hell."
The eldest grunted before brushing past Naruto once his shackles clanged to the ground, stretching his sore, old muscles. One by one, the other Jinchūriki joined Number Nine outside the cells, stretching their limbs and marveling at the feeling of their chakra returning.
"What about us, blondie!?"
Naruto blinked and turned to his right to lay his eyes upon the cells still containing the vast majority of Level Six's prisoners. "Why would I want to do that?"
"WHAT?!" The one that had called out to him squawked in outrage, pressing his rat-like face against the dirty bars.
"Barring my fellows I've already freed." Naruto stated as he looked along every cell containing prisoners, stopping momentarily on each of the real threats held imprisoned here from Devon to Shiryu and even the titanic figure of Sanjuan Wolf. "I have no assurances that you fucks won't try to murder me simply for the fun of it, even if I did free you… not that it'd end well for you. So. How about you enjoy the time you have left, sit back and enjoy the show."
"What show…?" Catarina Devon called out as the Jinchūriki began making their way to the winding stairs, her lips spreading in a wicked grin, not at all insulted about being left behind. Naruto was right, she'd have probably tried to kill him for the fun of it.
"You'll see."
-Impel Down, Staff Level: Chief Magellan's Room, 1527 C.E.-
"SIR!"
Magellan groaned as his eyes shot open at the sudden ruckus occurring in his room as one of his many subordinates broke through his doorway and shakily saluted, fully rousing the poison-wielder from whatever sleep had remained in his body.
His subordinates knew better than to disturb his sleep unless it was absolutely necessary, especially in such a rude fashion.
"Report!" Magellan barked, round eyes glaring down at the guard; a young man that he recognized as just recently being assigned to Impel Down's guard structure after having a falling out with a superior officer in the Marines.
"SIR! Prisoners have escaped Detention Level Six and are rampaging through Freezing and Blazing Hells! Sir!"
"WHAT?!"
Impel Down was burning.
More than it ever had before.
Battles raged on the lower levels, sweeping toward the upper floors in a swathe of destruction that spared none.
Cells were smashed by a man with a wild mane of golden hair as he and five others clashed against the monstrous guards of the prison, and those prisoners that still had their wills unbroken escaped en-masse, taking advantage of the chaos. Those remaining within their cells; the prisoners that were either too weak or beaten into such submission that the thought of escape had become mythical, remained.
Great fissures opened in the Frozen Hell of Level Five and the great boilers of the Blazing Hell of Level Four were overturned as six monstrously powerful ex-inmates smashed through any resistance the unprepared guards, both human and monster alike, they came across.
Chaos reigned supreme.
No matter what the guards of the prison threw at this mass surge of prisoners, nothing worked, and they were often overrun in a matter of moments.
A feral voice roared out his defiance in all-consuming madness, rallying the downtrodden inmates to rebel against their tormentors even as he ripped his way through those standing in his way.
"STOP!" A large man with features similar to an Egyptian pharaoh roared as he moved to bar the path of the blond. "RETURN TO YOUR CELL PRISONER!"
A low throaty chuckle filled the air instead of the expected submission as crimson, slitted eyes glared balefully at the man barring his path. "You look strong. It's been a while since I've had a good fight."
"Such a bloodthirsty little monster, aren't you?" The Egyptian scowled, readying his double-bladed naginata in a showy series of spins that would have likely been intimidating to the weaker prisoners. "Don't you know who I am?! I am Vice-Warden Hannyabal! You shall regret ever attempting to escape!"
"Am I supposed to be impressed? The minotaur looked more intimidating."
Hannyabal growled in anger at the prisoner's tone and words. The ugly Egyptian's naginata shearedtowards the blond, intent on shaving off the entirety of his face and leaving a headless corpse behind. What he wasn't expecting was for the shinobi to duck at the last moment, pass under the overextended polearm and bring his fist up to smash into the larger man's belly.
"GAH!"
"I am never going back to that cell!" Naruto roared as he grabbed hold of the larger man's right arm and wrenched it to the side before delivering a series of heavy blows to Hannyabal's torso and face, making the man squeal in pain before managing to launch the Jinchūriki off of him.
"You don't have a choice in the matter, hannyaa!" Hannyabal shrieked as he brought his naginata back around to impale the blond, only to miss when the man jerked out of the way. "By the order of the Five Elders, you filth were imprisoned and as such you will remain imprisoned!"
Naruto sneered at the Vice-Warden as the man tried to overwhelm him in a flurry of swings. He may not have had much proper training before Konoha betrayed him and he was imprisoned in this Hellhole, but he was more than sure he could take this guy down.
He was nowhere near the level of Gaara or Lee back when Naruto had partaken in the Chunin Exams, and Naruto had defeated his fellow Jinchūriki as a mere genin.
Lee would have destroyed this dumbass.
Raising his hand to form the technique he managed to learn from Jiraiya before he was taken from his home, Naruto frowned when he found that his chakra wasn't working quite right enough to fuel the A-rank technique. He scowled, he should have suspected that it wouldn't work. He hadn't been able to utilize his chakra for two decades after all. It'd take some time to refamiliarize himself with his inner energy.
Instead of trying to rely on any other jutsu, he decided to overcome this obstacle physically and when Hannyabal overextended himself again, took the upper hand by striking at the bastard's elbow, getting a screech of pain from the Vice-Warden when Naruto's strength proved enough to force the joint inward in the wrong direction, overstraining the limb before he grabbed the shaft of the bastard's naginata and ripped it from Hannyabal's grasp.
"GIVE THAT BA-GURK!"
Hannyabal fell back, clutching at his throat after Naruto's foot had lodged itself in his Adam's apple. As the vice-warden struggled to regain his breath, Naruto quickly familiarized himself with the stolen naginata.
He'd never utilized one before while he was still a genin of the Hidden Leaf, having often stuck to just shuriken and kunai as his weapons of trade, but it seemed simple enough.
"Oi! Shit stain!" Naruto snarled just as Hannyabal regained both his breath and balance, making the vice-warden look up just in time for Naruto launch himself at him, polearm swinging in his grasp.
Hannyabal gasped, eyes wide and disbelieving as Naruto bypassed him, he couldn't feel any pain and he hadn't felt the jerking motion of a weapon hitting him. But all the same…
He was dead.
Hannyabal collapsed to his knees and his grotesque head fell from his shoulders upon the impact of his knees, tumbling to the ground before the rest of his body followed suit.
All the prisoners occupied with their escape and even those that had remained in their cells couldn't help but pause and stare in disbelief at the blond Jinchūriki as the man twirled the naginata around before smashing the butt of the polearm into the ground.
Then they began cheering.
In their distraction, more guards came pouring down into the Level from the exit point. In response, Naruto's smile only grew as the approaching guards recognized him.
"Shit! That's the Jinchūriki! He's-!"
Naruto spun his newly acquired weapon...
...and the walls spattered with blood.
And there was the long-awaited chapter 2 of Fox Down: Vengeance Upon the Seas! I hope you all enjoyed it.
Next chapter will see Naruto and co. officially escaping Impel Down as well as meeting the first three members of Naruto's fledgling crew. None of the Jinchūriki will be joining his crew for obvious reasons due to how overpowered that would make the crew for the story. They will be going their separate ways once out of Impel Down.
Note: There is a Poll on my profile page where you can vote for one of the characters I wrote down for who you guys think will be a good addition to the crew, it should also be noted before anyone complains, that the pole characters are not from One Piece or from Naruto, I wanted to keep events as close as possible to canon for One Piece as a I could so that Luffy's actions don't get mucked up too much, though there will be a few staff changes to Impel Down with the havoc Naruto is wreaking.
Be sure to pay the Poll a visit. The top three chosen characters will be the candidates for the crew.
Until next time! Peace out!
