This just in!" Blared a large screen TV as a middle aged, balding man appears on the screen. "We have just received word of a strike on a SDC transport train, reports say the train was supposedly carrying the daughter of the CEO of SDC, Schnee Diamond company, a miss Weiss Schnee. Luckily she hadn't taken the train due to a scheduling issue. This is the forth attack in recent months! No word on who or why these attacks have been coming to SDC! We will gi-" as the TV is turned off, a tall blonde woman, with strong purple eyes, a yellow dress shirt, with grey slacks, brown dress shoes stands in front of the TV now, arms crossed, she gives off a strong air of command.
"So this is your assignment Miss Rose, guard the CEO's daughter. We were asked to keep an eye on the heiress due to our record, after today her father feels she needs protection, so it is a simple job of protecting her from harm. Get paid, Is that understood?" The person the blonde was taking to was a woman with a dark black bob cut with red tips, leans back in a chair, her sunglasses reflecting the tall blond woman, she tugs on the collar of her red dress shirt to loosen her black tie, also wearing black pants with a set of black army boots and a gun holsterwith a red and black Colt .45
"Yang, come on! I'm a bodyguard! I protect people! It's nothing new." The dark haired woman asked as the blonde huffed.
"It's Ms. Xiao long, Miss Ruby Rose." Ruby rolled her eyes, as she leaned on her fist.
"Yang you only got promoted a week ago! A week ago you were just my big sister." Ruby fired off, this time making Yang roll her eyes.
"Fine! Don't treat work like work, etherway you are gonna be Miss Weiss Schnee full time bodyguard till the job is completed."
Ruby smiled "Ok, so when do I start?" Ruby questioned.
"You start tomorrow, I'm sending you to Atlas tonight, about 8pm." Yang hands a folder to Ruby which Ruby flips though, skimming through the paperwork. She doesn't even fully read it before setting it down.
"Ok Sis, you got it, Atlas tomorrow. I'll grab my gear and be on my way." Yang smiled, she pulled something from her pocket and handed it to Ruby as she carefully took it. Ruby looks at the object and smiled, herself now as Yang had given her the flaming rose necklace their mom once wore.
"You still had this? I didn't even know it was still around!" Ruby couldn't keep her eyes off it,
"Yeah, well I didn't want anyone to know, it's been my good luck charm on jobs, figured this will be your first time leaving vale, I wanted to give you some good luck." Ruby slipped it on, then got up and hugged her older sister.
"Thank you Yang."
"No problem Rubes, just be safe." They embraced.
The next morning Ruby arrives in Atlas, no worse for wear as she carries just her simple red duffel bag to the exit, she looks for the company car she was told would pick her up. "Ok, off to a great start… no car, no idea where the hell to go.." Ruby sighed, she pulls her phone from her pocket and checked the time and if she had gotten any messages.
" Miss Rose! Miss Rose! Over here!" Yelled a very enthusiastic voice, Ruby looks up to find the source of the very enthusiastic voice, it belongs to a bouncing young woman with orange-reddish hair in a very formal green pant suit, she's standing in front of a long black limo, she looks both ways and like a bolt of lighting she runs over from across the stretch of road full of taxis and other transportation vehicles. Reaching Ruby in almost mere seconds she grabs Ruby's hand that was holding the duffle bag, causing her to drop the duffel bag and shaking her hand with the same enthusiasm.
"It's sooo nice to meet you! I apologize for being late! I had to pick up Miss Schnee's dry cleaning! Then traffic was bad! Were you waiting long?"
"Ah, no not really, you're pretty enthusiastic I must say." Ruby chuckled. "So what's your name?"
"Oh, Yes! I'm Penny Polendina! Personal Assistant and planner for Miss Weiss Schnee."
"Oh? Her assistant? So you work for her?" Ruby questioned.
"Oh no! I work for her father, but I care for and help Miss Schnee, Miss Rose."
"Oh, ok then. By the way Penny you can call me Ruby, I'm not one who likes formal titles."
"Noted! Now shall we head to SDC headquarters? Or do you wish to get food?" Ruby shook her head no, as she pulled a pack of cookies from her bag.
"All good, I never go anywhere unprepared." Penny smiled and motioned for Ruby to follow her as they made their way over to the limo Penny had run from just moments ago. Penny opened the door and let Ruby in first, then herself as she shut the door and the driver made their way to SDC headquarters. The ride itself was quiet and boring. "So, this Weiss Schnee, who is she? Or anything you can tell me about her?"
"You don't know anything?" Ruby shook her head no, Penny thought for a moment. "I'd say… She's hard to explain."
"Hard to explain?" Penny nervously scratches the back of her head.
"Yeah, she's very tough, she isn't afraid to speak her mind, and many know her as the Ice Queen." Ruby started to piece in her mind an idea of Weiss but figured it might be wrong.
"So, how much longer till we get to SDC headquarters Penny?" Penny looked out the window and with her normal enthusiasm smiles.
"We are here now! Take a look!" Ruby looks out one of the windows and sees a large glass building, with a giant blue snowflake design. "Welcome to SDC headquarters."
Ruby was in awe to say the least, it was the largest building she had ever seen, soon as the limo pulled into the reserved parking spot, Penny was bursted from the door. Ruby exited after Penny in a more reserved fashion.
"So, where to now Penny?"
"Oh we must get to the top floor and announce your arrival." Penny said as she grabbed Ruby's arm and pulled her inside and through the glass doors, Ruby took note of the surroundings, the armed guards, the security cameras, the place was well fortified. Ruby didn't have very long to see it all as Penny had yanked her directly into an elevator and headed for the top floor. Ruby and Penny enter a room though large wooden doors which lead them into a large office, twenty armed and very well equipped guards stand at the ready. All to guard the one pale skinned man in the room sitting at a large wooden desk. The man sits in a snow white suit, so white it could almost be transparent against his skin tone.
"Penny, is this the bodyguard I hired for Weiss?"
"Yes Mr.Schnee, this is Ruby Rose. Ruby this is Mr. Jacques Schnee" Ruby gave Jacques a small little wave.
"Hello Mr.Schnee, I'd like to thank you personally for hiring my family firm."
"It was my pleasure. I've heard many good things about your family's business, especially your mother and only wanted the best of the best for my daughter, I do hope you live up to it." Ruby Clenched her fist as she tensed up.
"Thank you sir, I.. we appreciate it."
Jacques nods "My daughter should be here very soon, if you'd like to take a seat, Penny show Miss Rose where to sit." Penny nods and motions for Ruby to follow her as they take a seat on the small couch off to the side.Ruby was only sitting for a moment, then Jacques' office doors were kicked open, the guards took aim. Ruby goes for her gun but stops when she sees who's in the doorway. In Ruby's eyes she's the most beautiful woman she's seen. In Ruby's eyes it happened like this.
Ruby POV:
She strolled in. Clean snow white colored hair in a ponytail, striking blue eyes and a pale complexion. Blue dress shirt with a black mini skirt that showed off her long dancer's legs with black leggings and white dress shoes. Ruby couldn't help but blush. Too bad that wasn't how it actually happened.
In actuality it happened like this.
Real POV:
Weiss kicks the doors open and storms over to her Father's desk. "Father! What is the meaning of this!? Hiring a bodyguard for me!? I do not need one!!" Screamed the heiress, she slams her balled fist down on the desk in pure rage, as it showed in her face. "I have no need or want for a bodyguard! I am head of the Advisory board! As well as the chief executive director of the company! I can't be tied down with some muscle head bodyguard you hired! I am not about to show fear to these creeps ether!"
Jacques waited till Weiss calmed herself before speaking. "Ahem, well Weiss as head of this company I must ensure your safety, so meet your bodyguard Ruby Rose." Weiss' eyes went wide as Jacques pointed off to another side of the room to spot Ruby, Ruby and Weiss' eyes met. Penny walks Ruby over so they are face to face.
Weiss feels a soft blush cross her face. "O-oh, ah hello Miss Ruby Rose." She holds her hand out.
"Ah hello Miss Schnee." She takes Weiss hand as they shake, the room seems to feel a strange tenseness.
"Good, you are both acquainted. Weiss, Ruby will now live with you and be your shadow till deemed fit for you to no longer need her, do you understand?" Jacques asked as Weiss didn't want to seem too eager so she thought her words out carefully.
"I understand father." Weiss lets go of Ruby's hand as they share a second glance.
"Now then, I have important work to do. Now please get Miss Rose situated before you head to your meetings." Jacques then starts working as he ignores them.
Weiss gave a slight growl, Penny sensing it was time to jump in "Shall we go? Come on along, Ms.Schnee and Ruby." She grabs both and drags them from the room.
"Penny, this is really unnecessary!" Weiss said as Penny dragged them to an elevator and proceeded to send the elevator down.
"I know Miss Schnee, but I could tell you were getting close to another blow up, besides you do have meetings today in about an hour. Ruby still needs to drop her things off." Weiss takes note of Ruby's single duffel bag.
"Is that all you have?"
"Ah, yeah, I don't really need a whole lot. I'm used to carrying light, less to move to each job." Ruby replied.
"Well, if you need a bigger bag we can find you one, once we get home." Weiss watched as Ruby gripped the bag tighter.
"Well it's my mom's old bag, it's what she'd take with her on jobs, till recently it's all I've had, till my sister gave me her necklace." Ruby replied again with a sad smile, Weiss immediately looking away.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean anything by it."
"No,no it's all ok, Ms.Schnee. Really everything is fine."
Weiss smiled "Ok, but please call me Weiss. I hate being called Ms.Schnee, Weiss is sufficient enough." Ruby smiles back.
"Ok Weiss, so um, when do we get to your home?"
Weiss looked at the numbers on the elevator. "In about a moment." As Weiss said that, the doors to the elevator open up and they walk into a gorgeous, and very luxurious space, it was furnished in very expensive couches and other things, there were paintings worth more then Ruby's own home. She slowly steps in, completely in awe once again. Weiss taps her on the shoulder, drawing her attention away from Weiss' home and back to Weiss herself. "Follow me and I will show you where you will be staying, Miss Rose."
Weiss makes way for a spare room, as Ruby follows her, Penny decides to sit and and wait, Weiss leads Ruby down a short hallway and to a single door. Weiss opens it up as like the first room; it's beautifully furnished. Expensive paintings and a large screen tv with a king sized bed. Private bathroom, the works. Ruby was a tad embarrassed to admit this room alone was bigger then her entire house.
"Something wrong Miss Rose?" Ruby turns to Weiss.
"Oh! Nothing! This is very nice! Thank you!"
"Well glad to hear it, you can set your stuff down and come meet me when you're ready for us to leave, ok Miss Rose?"
"Sure! Oh and Weiss, I'm not a big fan of the Miss Rose thing either. You can call me Ruby, Weiss."
Weiss gives a wink "Ok Ruby." Weiss leaves the room as Ruby felt her heart skip a beat,
"This is gonna be a tough job." Ruby said to herself.
After putting her stuff away, Ruby made her way back to Weiss and Penny. From there they made their way to the lobby and from there the limo and on the way to Weiss' meeting in town.
"So what's this meeting about?" Questioned Ruby.
Before Weiss had a chance to utter a single syllable, Penny quickly chimed in "The meeting is to discuss better working environments for the Faunus, to better serve all who work for Schnee Diamond Company!"
"Penny! What did I say about interrupting me!" Penny blushed in full embarrassment.
"S-sorry, Miss Schnee." Weiss sighs, feeling bad she pulled Penny close.
"It's ok, I'm sorry." Penny grinned then hugged Weiss in a painfully tight hug.
"P-Penny!" Weiss struggled to get out the incredible bear hug Penny was inflicting on Weiss.
Weiss was struggling and trying to push her off with very little success. Ruby couldn't help but chuckle a little seeing how red Weiss was becoming, she couldn't help but think of her sister Yang, and her bear hugs. She looked out the window of the limo, blocking out Weiss and Penny's squabble, Ruby stared at the buildings and city of Atlas in whole, looked so much different than Ruby's hometown, she began thinking of home as a small smile crept across her face.
"Ruby? Ruby? Hello! We have arrived." Said Penny as Ruby shook herself free from her thoughts.
"Oh? What is it Penny?"
"We have arrived." Penny smiled and pointed to the open limo door, Ruby climbed out of the limo, she then looked around, studying the layout of the building. "What is wrong Ruby?"
"Nothing, taking in the layout."
"The layout?" Penny questions as Ruby nods.
"Yeah, the best way to plan any escape routes. If need be." Ruby was so focused on her back up planning, She didn't feel the arm slip around and lock arms with her till it was done, she looks and sees Weiss was the one who did it.
"A-ahh.. Weiss? What are you doing?"
Weiss had a slight blush but not as big bright as the blush Ruby had. "You will be referred to as my escort, I do not wish anyone to think I have a bodyguard, I rather your true job be hidden understood?"
"Y-yes, I understand Weiss."
"Now, come along. As for you Penny, please keep an eye on the car, got it?"
"You can count on me Ms.Schnee!" Penny salutes Weiss then retreats back to the car as Weiss tugs Ruby along.
"Ah, why does she call you Ms.Schnee?" Ruby asked, Weiss took a moment to think as they entered through the front doors, the place is extremely crowded but Weiss leads Ruby though it and towards the board rooms.
"Honestly, I don't know. Think she just likes to, I'm no fan but it's ok." Weiss smiles, "So Ruby, What got you into this line of work?" Weiss asks, making small talk as to kill the time till they reach the board room.
"Well, my parents. My mom and dad started the company but we are a small firm, my sister recently became my boss after our dad retired."
"You have a sister? Do you have other siblings, Ruby?"
"No, how about you Weiss?" Weiss sighed sadly.
"I have an older sister, she's in the military. I also have a younger brother, but he's my father's shadow." Ruby can read the sadness in Weiss' body language. Ruby refrained from saying anything more, luckily they reach the board room as they enter. Ruby quickly takes notice of five guards, one giving off a strange vibe from the corner of the room. The room is filled with many old timers, people Ruby could probably bet where at Remnant's creation. Still she keeps her eyes on that one man though. Studying him, his black suit, neatly pressed, his flame red hair and eye patch over his left eye, just made Ruby feel off, as Weiss takes her seat, she pulls Ruby over so she can stand beside her.
Soon as Weiss sat down, an older woman stared at her. "Good to see you here Miss Schnee, may we ask who your guest is?" Like before, as Ruby was to speak, Weiss cut her off quickly.
"This is Ruby Rose, my escort for the day." Ruby gives a quick wave unsteady of speaking, as the older woman acknowledges it.
"So with that out of the way, shall we?" The older woman asked. As the others in the room all agree. They begin discussing and taking on ways to better help the lives of the Faunus and their families, Ruby lets her mind wander as she stares out the window. She wasn't one for politics or things like that, Ruby was a woman of action, part way through whatever Weiss was saying,
Ruby ends up loudly yawning. Drawing attention away from Weiss, everyone looked at Ruby, as she took notice, she could almost feel the weight of their stares.
"Ah.. sorry.. I didn't sleep last night." She chuckled.
The older woman scowled, "Well, please refrain from doing Anything else of a destructive nature." Ruby wasn't sure how a yawn was destructive, but oh well she thought. "You may process Ms.Schnee."
"Thank you, as I was saying about the living arrangements.." Weiss was off again as Ruby came back to reality, she noticed the one red head vanished, but Ruby felt it was probably her overthinking too much, she then moved her gaze to the window once more, then she saw something shimmer, she knew what it was, it was time to act.
"Weiss!" Ruby screamed as she scooped Weiss up from the chair effortlessly, as sprinted out just as a rocket was launched into the office, the sheer blast was enough to send Ruby and Weiss flying through the door and landing with Ruby covering Weiss from harm.
"R-ruby!? What was that!" Weiss screamed as Ruby covered her, people screaming and rushing to get to safety wherever they could find it.
"RPG! We have to get you outta here." She pulls Weiss up among the chaos as they feel the building shake, as Ruby can already tell it's another explosion from an RPG, Ruby holds her hand tight. "Listen Weiss, we gotta go, so hold on to me tight, okay?"
Weiss, despite all hell breaking loose, she nodded, Ruby starts to run with Weiss, looking for any other exit that wasn't blocked, thankfully she had studied the building. She knew down the hall was a backup exit that led to the parking garage, but Ruby and Weiss come to a screeching halt as three men in black suits and white demon masks stand in front of the exit, aiming their guns at the duo.
"Move it!" Ruby screamed.
"Just hand over the girl and you won't get hurt." one of the men said, but Ruby really couldn't tell which one.
"Who are you!?" Weiss screamed now, as they laughed.
"Your family's worst nightmare. Now come with us."
"Over my dead body." Ruby replied.
"Your funeral!" The man said as he went to fire his gun, Ruby with her insanely fast reflexes
flings a throwing knife from behind her back into the man's neck, as she lunges forward, she uses a second to slash the neck of the other and with a swift kick takes the third man to the ground before disarming and pinning him to the wall, her Colt .45 pressed against his temple.
"Who sent you!?" Ruby screamed as the man trembled,
"Who sent you!?" She asks again, shaking him and smacking his head against the ground.
"Y-you're not human!" He shrieked, Ruby growled.
"Who.. sent… you?" She asks again, pressing her gun hard into his skin, letting the unspoken threat get across.
"Lord Adam!! Of FUR! He sent us! Please don't kill me!"
Ruby growled and with the butt of her gun strikes him and grabs Weiss' hand again. "Let's move!" Ruby and Weiss then make their way through the exit and attempt to reach the garage, they feel another tremor and gunfire, as the building shakes, "Shit, they must be trying to take the whole place down."
Ruby and Weiss reach a fire exit as it takes them into the garage. "Weiss! Can you call Penny?"
"What?"
"Call Penny!"
"O-oh! I can try." She pulls her scroll and tries to call her, it rings as Weiss starts to panic until she smiles. "Penny! Yes! Penny we are fine! We are on, ah.. parking garage level 3! Come get us, ok hurry." Weiss hangs up as Ruby tries to keep her shielded.
"Is she coming?"
"Yes, she's on the first level, she'll be here in a moment." Ruby keeps her gun ready, the sounds of gunfire and police sirens fill the air. Ruby sigh of relief when Weiss' limo pulls up and Ruby hastily pushes Weiss inside and makes a quick scan for anyone else before climbing inside and
shutting the door as the limo takes off, and out of the garage.
"Are you ok Weiss? Anything hurt?" Ruby questioned as she got close to Weiss, carefully looking her over for injuries.
"No.. just.. had you not grabbed me.. I.. I would have.." as the realization sets in. She leans on
Ruby. "I.. can't thank fate enough for you Ruby."
Ruby blushes softly. Ruby holds her as Weiss closes her eyes.
"It's no problem Weiss, it's my job, let's get you home." Penny watched the two, she smiled and said nothing but she did wink at Ruby with a thumbs up, causing Ruby to be a bit self-conscious.
After reaching Weiss' home she had gone to lay down as Ruby looked throughout her database
for any and all groups going by the name FUR. She eventually found what she was looking for,"Faunus Union Revolution?" Ruby began to read about this self-righteous group, its founding and its violent acts, she then came to a picture of its leader, her eyes widened as she spotted the same man she had seen in the meeting room, he was younger but Ruby knew it was him, "Adam Taurus."
