A/n: real work has gotten in the way lol, but finished this chapter, I should have all my RWBY stories updated by Saturday! So hope you all enjoy this!
"Adam Taurus" Ruby kept repeating his name In her head. The same did sound familiar. She paced her room, racking her brain of why that nsmr sounded so familiar. Ruby felt she only had one person to ask, as she pulled her scroll out and dialed Yang's number. It rang only once befire Yang's screams were heard.
"RUBY!? ARE YOU OK!?" Nearly blowing Ruby's eardrum out as she falls back dropping hers scroll from Yang's surprising outburst. "RUBY!?"
Ruby grabs her scroll once she regains her footing. "YANG! CALM DOWN! I'M OK!" Ruby has to scream to calm her sister. "I'm fine! I'm ok, no worse for wear."
"Ok, ok.. I just seen on the news about the attack, I was just about to call." Yang was definitely panting from hyperventilating.
"It's fine, no worries. I was actually calling you to see if you heard of FUR or Adam Taurus?"
"Adam Taurus!? Where did you hear that name? Or of FUR!" it felt to Ruby that this question bothered Yang greatly somehow, her tone was changing.
"One of these creeps I took out, they told me Lord Adam of FUR, found a picture of him and a name. Figured I'd call my big sis."
"Ruby, I want you home now, drop the job!" Ruby was shocked, she didn't just hear what she thought she heard, did she? That was impossible. This was too far outta character for Yang.
"Y-Yang? Is something wrong?"
"Ruby, just do as I say.." Yang's tone was becoming more stern, more upset and still panting.
"No! Give me a good reason and maybe I'll think about it!" Ruby wasn't about to leave a job, this was their family's business, admittedly too, Weiss was another factor.
"I don't have to give you shit! I say get home! Drop the job, You do it!" Ruby gripped her scroll so tight she felt like it was gonna snap.
"No! If you don't wanna help me then fine!" She hung up and flung her scroll across the room. Angrily muttering to herself, as she panted from anger.
"Ruby, are you ok?" Ruby turns to see Weiss in the doorway, she has two glass mugs, Ruby moves her gaze away from Weiss, trying calm down and to hide her frustration.
"Oh, ah.. yeah I'm fine, how are you? I thought you were gonna lay down."
"I'm very well, and I was.. but guess I'm still a bit shaken up. So I made myself a coffee, but apparently I made too much. Would you like to join me for a cup?"
Ruby sighed, then turned back to Weiss and smiled softly. "Sure"
Weiss returns the smile and leads Ruby to the living room and takes a seat on a small couch, as Ruby follows suit, Weiss slides the second cup over to Ruby.
Weiss starts to drink her's, as Ruby picks her mug up and takes a swig before stopping, she digs in her pockets and to Weiss' horror watches Ruby dumping in multiple packets of sugar. "Would you like some coffee to go with your sugar?"
"O-oh, ah sorry. J-just I like lots of sugar and creamer in mine."
"Apparently blasphemous amounts of sugar it seems." Ruby couldn't help but blush.
"I Ah.." Ruby was surprised when Weiss held her mug out. "Ah..?"
"Well, give me some sugar." Ruby couldn't hold the blush, truthfully this was the most she's blushed ever, but she opens a new packet and pours it in, she watches as Weiss takes a sip. "Ok, you win Ruby, it's better."
"O-oh! I wasn't trying to say it wasn't good!"
"It's fine! Please calm down. It's not all that serious. Do I look like the type of person who'd take that seriously?" Ruby blushed again then just drank her coffee. "You know Ruby, I am really greatful that my father hired you, to be honest. I figured it was a plot.."
"A plot..?"
"Yeah, he's been trying to marry me off. He's had multiple suitors come and try to woo me." Ruby takes a drink of her coffee.
"Oh? So no one has worked out?" Ruby looked away, she started biting her lip.
Weiss blushed. "No, I um.. let's say I um. Don't play in their field."
"Oh…? So?"
"Yeah." Weiss looked away from Ruby. "Father won't hear of it, he sees it as a way to control me i guess. I am next in-line to run the company, that is, unless I marry."
"Wait.. what? What do you mean if you marry?"
"If I marry, my spouse would, or could be considered a Schnee. Which means father could name them his successor." Ruby growled, gripping her mug.
"So just like that!? You lose everything? How can he do that!?" Ruby screamed as Weiss shrugged. She looked to the floor and back to Ruby.
"He did it to my mother, he tried my sister, and he's trying with me."
"Wait, what about your brother?"
"Unless something happens to me, he can't gain control of the company, if something does happen to me, he gains full control." Ruby just stared at Weiss. She didn't have anything she could say, she watched Weiss look away again. "I'm sorry to bore you with this." Weiss turned away, Ruby put her hand on to Weiss should, cause Weiss to glance back to Ruby's bright toothy grin.
"It's ok, you don't bore me, talk away, I'd love to listen." The two just started staring at one another then, the strange silence.
Both were unable to think of something to say now. Especially Weiss. It was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. Weiss was unsure what to say, and wasn't sure ether, they just continued to sit In complete silence. Both speechless, maybe Ruby should say something? Or would Weiss? Ruby wasn't sure what to do.
Ruby could only gulp, the tension was thick to say the least, took an elevator door and a loud booming voice echoed throughout Weiss' home, "Miss Schnee! I'm home my darling snowflake!" Weiss perked up, quickly jumping from the couch and with out knowing smacking Ruby in the face as she raced to the elevator dropping her mug with a loud thud.
A slightly older man in a suit stands in front of the elevator, Weiss runs and jumps into arms. "Oh Klein! I'm so happy to see you! I didn't think you'd be back till next week!"
Klein hugged her tightly "I took an early flight, I'm just so very glad you're ok!" Ruby walks into the main room, seeing Weiss so happy, made Ruby smile, as the man moves his attention to her.
"Oh! Klein this is-" he cuts her off with a level of enthusiasm only matched by Penny.
"Oh! Miss Ruby! Thank you so much for protecting my little Snowflake!" Weiss and Ruby were surprised, but the surprise soon diminished for Weiss as she could have guessed how Klein would have known who Ruby was.
"Penny called you, didn't she?" Klein looked away from Weiss as to try and not let it slip. "Klein!"
"Sorry my Snowflake, I'd prefer not to let that info go," Weiss rolled her eyes but kept hugging him.
"Fine, keep your secrets. I'm just so thrilled to see you back!"
"I'm also happy to be back!" Klein laughed, as he set Weiss down. He put his hand on her shoulder, pulling her close. "Are you gonna properly introduce me or not Snowflake." Pinching her cheek, Weiss blushed.
"Klein, this is Ruby. My bodyguard. Ruby, this is my favorite butler, Klein."
Klein bowed, then extended his hand. "Pleasure to meet you young lady."
Ruby grinned, she took his hand and shook it. "Pleasure to meet you!"
"So, I heard a little rumor." Ruby noticed Klein's eyes change color as he leans close to Ruby. "I heard you are interested in my little Snowflake, you may be a great bodyguard, but hurt her and I will end you myself…" Ruby just smiled and nodded nervously. Weiss watched in confusion, but blew it off as they separated.
"Are you hungry Klein?"
"I'm famished, my little Snowflake!" He heartily laughed. "I'll be glad to cook my special meatloaf!"
"Yum!" Weiss gleefully cheered as she and Klein left the room, Ruby couldn't help by smile softly and followed.
—Back at Patch—
Yang paces the floor of her office, she checks her scroll, she growls softly. She impatiently checks again, moments later. The door to her office opens, as Yang spins her body around to see a head of black hair under a set of cat ears and sharp yellow eyes and a simple purple kimono, "Blake!" Yang lunges forward and hugs Blake.
"Nmf! S-Sweetie!? What's wrong? You said we had to talk?" Blake asked in confusion.
"Oh Blake! It's bad! It's bad!"
"What is bad? Tell me..?"
"He's back.." Yang whimpered.
"W-who's back..?"
"Adam…." Blake's eyes went wide. She started to shake.
"B-but.. but…" Blake gulped as started to shake. Yang held her tight, softly rubbing her back.
"It's ok, it's ok, I'm here." Yang did her best to reasure Blake.
"Yang… h-how did he..? I mean!" Yang silenced her with a soft kiss, she pulled back slowly, she gave Blake the most reassuring smile she could.
"I promise he won't get you again.. but we need to get to Atlas, how fast can you get ready?"
"Half an hour, but why?"
"Because, he's behind the Schnee company attacks, or well so far what I could gather from Ruby." Blake's ears perked up.
"Ruby is involved!? Let's move!" Ignoring her previous state she grips onto Yang's arm and rips outta the office, slamming the door shut,
——Back in Atlas——
Ruby couldn't help but burp as loud as she could, which made Weiss and Klein laugh. "Alright, you win Ruby, you definitely could burp louder than Klein." Wiess said sliding Ruby another soda Pop.
"Hey, my sister was a great teacher." Ruby replied with pride in her tone.
"Well, we should get to bed, I got a long day tomorrow." Weiss said with a yawn.
"Huh? What's tomorrow?" Ruby questioned.
"Oh, it's an amusement park grand opening." Ruby had to till her head in confusion.
"I'm sorry, did you say an amusement park? Your family is opening an amusement park? Who in their right mind agreed to build one?"
"Well, My family is the richest family in Atlas Ruby, my father agreed to let me build one. Figured the kids of atlas deserved some fun." Weiss seemed a tad upset from Ruby's remark as the death glare on Klein's own face sent a chill up Ruby's spine. So not only did she feel bad for upsetting Weiss, Klein wasn't to happy ether.
"I ah.. um.. any rides you wanna try first? I'd love whatever roller coasters you got." Weiss immediately perked up, looking at Ruby with a soft smile.
"Oh, really? Well I actually designed one called the winter dragon's revenge! I was bored on the way to a conference my father was too busy for." Weiss has said the word busy with a pretty sarcastic tone Ruby immediately picked up on. "You see, I personally love high climbing, fast dropping.." and Weiss was off again, but Ruby actually didn't mind. She really liked seeing Weiss so happy and hearing the enthusiasm in her voice. She looked out of the corner of her eye to double check Klein who now had a more pleasant demeanor now. So two issues resolved, unknown more to come, but it would be so bad, especially being Weiss' bodyguard.
