Next morning, Ruby opened her eyes to see she was now alone, after falling asleep with Weiss in her arms hours earlier, before she had time to question where Weiss might be, she could hear the water in the bathroom running, and a beautiful song coming from through the door."
"Mirror, can you hear me?
Do I reach you?
Are you even listening?
Can I get through?
There's a part of me that's desperate for changes
Tired of being treated like a pawn
But there's a part of me that stares back from inside the mirror Part of me that's scared I might be wrong
That I can't be strong…"
Ruby listened closely, she was in full disbelief, this was Weiss singing.
"I've been afraid, never standing on my own
I let you be the keeper of my pride
Believed you when you told me I was nothing on my own, Listen when I say, I swear it here today
I will not surrender, this life is mine!"
"Amazing how you conquered me, chained me in servility and made me see
The world the way you told me to
But I was young and didn't have a way to know the truth Born to live your legacy
Existing just to fill your needs, a casualty
Of this so-called family that you have turned into a travesty."
Ruby was completely and utterly lost in Weiss' voice. It was so soft and beautiful.
"But I don't intend to suffer any longer
Here's where your dominion falls apart
I'm shattering the mirror that kept me split in pieces
That stood between my mind and my heart
This is where I'll start."
"I'm not your pet, not another thing you own
I was not born guilty of your crimes
Your riches and your influence can't hold me anymore, I won't be possessed
Burdened by your royal test
I will not surrender, This life is mine"
"Shame that it took so long to rescue me
From the guilt you used to tie me to your family tree
I guess your training failed, you're not in charge I'm free Your patriarchal prison won't hold me
Now this conversation's finally over Mirror mirror, now we're done I've pulled myself together now, my mind and heart are one Finally one!"
"I'm not your pet, not another thing you own
I was not born guilty of your crimes
Your riches and your influence can't hold me anymore I won't be possessed
Burdened by your royal test I will not surrender. This life is mine!"
Ruby wasn't sure whether to clap, or Offer to pay for admission. The water stopped running, as the bathroom door opened, Ruby blushed as red as a tomato, watching as Weiss exited the bathroom. Only she wasn't wearing anything but a smile, she walked over and Sat on the bed in front of Ruby. She put her hand to Ruby's face, "good morning." Weiss then plants a small kiss on Ruby's lips.
Weiss pulls away, locking eyes with Ruby, as she pressed her forehead to Ruby's causing her blush to stay. "T-This is a hell of a good morning.." Weiss Giggled.
"You were so wonderful last night." Said with a almost purr like sound.
"T-Thanks, I um.. glad to be of service!" Ruby nervously responded.
Weiss pulls back, giving Ruby a soft smile before looking to the floof. "I.. I am sorry for forcing it on you.."
"Weiss…" upon Weiss hearing her name, turns to look at Ruby, as she moves closer and kisses her again. "You didn't force anything on me, it was probably the most beautiful night I've ever had." Weiss gave a small smile.
"If something happens to me, I just wanted you to know how I felt."
"I swear to you Weiss, I won't leave your side, even for a second, I promise." Weiss had to wipe her eyes as tears were starting to form.
"You're so wholesome, it's almost like you do nothing but eat sugar." They both started to laugh happily.
"We should get dressed and start your day Weiss." Weiss shrugged at what Ruby had said.
"I had no plans for today, no meetings or anything."
"Well, we can.. um.. we… can.. " Ruby blushed, her eyes darted away, as she started scratching the back of her head.
"Can we do what?" Weiss questioned. As Ruby seemed to be extremely embarrassed to ask.
Ruby gulps, as add finally manages to say what she wanted to say, "Go.. on a.. ah date?"
Weiss tilted her head as she stared at Ruby, in a state of pure confusion, she sat for a moment and just blinked. "You wanna go on a date?"
"Yes, please." Ruby gave Weiss the most convincing puppy dog eyes she'd ever seen. Hours prior this woman was gunning down terrorists, and was now presently begging for just for a date.
"You're a very intriguing woman, you know that right?"
"W-what do you mean?" Ruby whined, making Weiss roll her eyes, chuckling a bit.
"Nevermind, but yes. We can go on a date." Ruby jumped up and onto Weiss, pinned her to the bed, as Ruby was smiling. "R-Ruby!?"
"You're the best Weiss!" Ruby kissed her nose as Weiss started to laugh, she pushed her off, while she was still laughing. As Ruby rolls over onto the other side of the bed, she stares at Weiss.
"What?" Weiss questioned, Ruby just shook her head.
"Nothing, just happy. So where would you wanna go?" Ruby asked, as Weiss began to think.
"I got a few ideas." Weiss sits up and stretches. "Just put on your fanciest clothes." She then proceeds to climb off the bed, Ruby's eyes never leaving Weiss' form. She watched her gather her clothes up, Ruby had to look away, before Weiss saw her.
"Ok, sounds good. I'll grab a shower and meet you in a few."
Weiss turns to Ruby, before leaving the room. Flashing another smile, "Dress comfy too." Ruby can't help but smile as Weiss finally exited. She jumped from the bed and raced to shower.
After a thorough shower, Ruby grabbed her favorite red dress shirt, black tie, pants and dress coat. She made sure her hair and everything she could think of was neat and clean.
Once she was ready, she exited her own room. She headed for the living room, to find Penny, working on her electronic tablet. She hasn't noticed Ruby enter. "Hey Penny, what are you up to?"
"Oh, just checking the bill for the damages done to the park, and if we had any injured people listed. Strangely, no one was even hurt. It's like the target was only Miss Schnee." Penny replied without even looking up, studying the reports with a full hyperfocus. Ruby takes a seat next to her, looking over her shoulder.
"Who were all of Weiss' VIPs?" Ruby questioned.
"Well the VIPs were from a list of very prominent business associates of Miss Schnee. Especially the ones with child ten and under, the others were children Miss Schnee regularly visits at the local orphanage."
"Weiss visits an orphanage?"
"Yes, she would visit quite frequently. Then came the attacks. So she mostly donates money every month. Also toys, clothes and other essentials."
Ruby couldn't keep herself from smiling, Penny finally pulled her attention away from her tablet, to Ruby and gasped.
"Oh my! You look amazing Ruby!" Penny happily exclaimed, making Ruby jump off the couch in surprise, and on to the floof.
"Geez Penny! Easy with your outburst!" Ruby Managed to reply, as she pulled herself off the floor.
"Oh, I am very sorry Ruby. You do look very nice. Where are you going?"
"Oh.." Ruby blushed. "Weiss and I are going out." Penny smiled ear to ear, making Ruby blush more.
"You and Miss Schnee do make a wonderful couple, I wonder what your children would look like."
"OUR C-CHILDREN!?" Ruby's face became as red as her shirt. She had to look away from Penny and her wide and devious grin.
"You thought about it too, didn't you Ruby?" Ruby kept her face from Penny, not wanting to admit that she did think about it, a tiny bit after she and Weiss shared such an intimate moment, only hours ago. "Ruby?" Penny started to poke her sides. "Ruby! Come on! Tell me!" as Ruby did her best to remain strong, Penny kept up her assault.
While Ruby was busy fending off Penny, Weiss was busy trying to find something to wear, tossing dress after dress to the side, she sighed sadly and fell back onto her bed.
"I don't have anything to wear!" Weiss groan. She was at odds with herself, nothing she had felt like it would look good, she really wanted to show. She laid there for a moment or two, till her scroll started to buzz, she took a look and with glee, answered right away. "Hello Winter, how are you doing? Are you doing well? How is the military?"
Weiss heard a soft chuckle before a response. "Yes, I'm doing well, Weiss. It has it's perks, but I called because I'm worried about you."
"About me? What about me, Winter?"
"Well, the fact is you lack proper protection. I heard about the attack yesterday, I'm Going to insist you get a military escort, and around the clock protection, starting today."
It was Weiss' turn to chuckle now. "Well, I already have that."
"Oh? When did you get in touch? I didn't see any requests on my desk."
"No, Father got me a bodyguard."
Winter was silent, Weiss couldn't see her reaction, but Winter's eye began to twitch. "Father… got you a bodyguard…? Just one lone bodyguard? Who is he? Another plan to keep control of the company?"
"Well, not exactly, she is quite a force to be reckoned with though."
"Father got you a single, woman bodyguard? Who is she?"
"I'll have you know Winter, Ruby is an extremely efficient and wonderful bodyguard! Her family firm in Patch came highly recommended."
"Wait.. patch? Ruby? Is her name Ruby Rose?"
"Um… yes, it is? How do you know her name?"
"Well, her mother was my commanding officer when I first enlisted. She retired soon after, but her mother was a highly decorated soldier. She was also a hero."
"A hero?"
"You might have been too young, but mother and father were in Menagerie years ago, for a business conference on opening a new mine there, after father found out. The Chieftain Ghira wasn't too interested." Winter paused for a moment, sighing.
"Winter? What's wrong?"
"There was a bomb, after father and mother left, the building came down… it was said to have been planted for Father. Some extremist groups claimed the Chieftain had even been an ex-leader of them at one point too." Weiss could only blink, she had never heard this story, she gulped.
"Y-you said Ruby's mom was a hero..?" Weiss tried not to let her voice crack.
"Yes, she was their bodyguard, she managed to get Chieftain Ghira, his wife and Daughter out in time. She went back and saved everyone, but couldn't get herself out in time.."
Weiss, did everything she could to hold in the tears she could feel forming in her eyes. She thought right back to Ruby's simple red duffel bag.
"Weiss? Are you still there?"
"Y-yes…" Weiss felt her heart shattering, as she thought about Ruby and her mother, she clenched her fist right over her heart. "Just…"
"Weiss? Is something wrong..?"
"I.. nothing.. I'm fine, I.. have to get ready… I have a date." Weiss said softly, as she wiped her eyes.
"A date?" Winter was beyond shocked. It took for her to pinch herself to believe she was actually awake and heard Weiss say what she thought she said. "Did you say a date? I must be going daft, I swear you said date."
"I did." Was all Weiss replied, Winter at that point slapped herself.
"No, still awake for sure. Who are you going out with Weiss? Not one of father's puppets is it?"
"I'm going out.. with Ruby." There was a dead silence, Weiss waited for Winter to snap, or question her on why she'd even think of it wanna date her own bodyguard. Weiss got prepared, she was ready to defend her choice.
"We'll I hope you have fun, glad to hear it wasn't one of Father's puppets,"
"Y-your not mad?"
"Why would I be? This is your choice isn't it? You are the one going out on a date, not me."
"To be honest Winter, I fully expected you to be mad."
"Weiss, it does not matter if I'm mad, if you're happy, then you're happy. Look, we will talk later then, enjoy your date."
"Ok Winter, and thank you,"
"Don't thank me, just worry about your happiness. Now again we will talk later, goodbye Weiss."
"Bye, Winter." Weiss hung up, smiling her small crooked grin, she jumped from her bed and started digging though more of her clothes, with new found resolve. She dug until she found the perfect thing, it made her eyes light up.
Meanwhile, Runy had just pinned Penny to the couch. "Ok! Ok! You win Ruby! I won't keep tickling you!" Ruby was panting and let her go, falling into a recliner.
"You.. you are much stronger then you seem." Ruby magaged to force out, as she panted.
Penny sat up, smiling. "Oh that, well… I work out a lot." Penny replied with her normal level of enthusiasm, but sounding a little strange. Ruby just shrugged it off.
The door opened, as Ruby heard Weiss' heel click. She turned to say something but her jaw dropped. Weiss, stood in front of Ruby in a Red form fitting dress, with white heels and some white accents. Ruby was in a state of awe. Weiss had to giggle. "Are you ready Ruby?"
"I.. I.. I ah pretty.. I." She shook her head and with a good slap, to her own face was able to fully coherent again, "y-yes Weiss. I am ready."
Weiss smiled and took Ruby by the arm, she then turned to Penny, who was quick to snap a picture with her scroll. "Aww! You both look so good Miss Schnee!"
"Thank you penny, now if my father calls do protocol alpha 3."
"Right!" She saluted Weiss, as her and Ruby exited the room and jumped into the elevator.
"Protocol alpha 3? What the heck is that?" Ruby questioned as Weiss just smirked.
"You will see later, anyway. Are you ready to start our fun activities?" Ruby Grinned ear to ear.
"Sure!" Was Ruby's reply as they exited the elevator, and got into Weiss' limo, Ruby of course opened the door and let Weiss in first, then herself.
Their first stop was a museum, then a short sight seeing trip around to the local landmarks, followed then by stopping off at a restaurant with a name that Ruby couldn't even attempt to say. It was definitely an experience for Ruby, as the was rushed from the door, straight to the more prominent booth in the restaurant. She looked around at all the big wigs and other rich people. "This is pretty cool Weiss."
"Oh I know. So see something you like?" Weiss asked, as she pointed to the menu. Ruby looked down, she began to panic. She had no idea what was even on the menu.
"Ah, the number seven burger sounds good." Weiss looked at her, then the menu and back to Ruby.
"The number seven burger?"
"Yes." Was Ruby only response.
"Ruby… those are frog legs…" Ruby started blushing again, as she nervously looked away. Weiss watched as her eyes went to a section on the bottom of the menu, probably the only thing she knew of on the menu before looking away again.
Weiss look at the menu, she sighed but had a soft smile. "How about I just get us both chicken fingers and fries. "
"Yes, please." Weiss couldn't help but roll her eyes, but she was smiling. She motions for the Waiter to come over, he ran to Weiss at a great speed, a pearly white, and toothy grin as it was spread ear to ear.
"Hello Miss Schnee!!" What can I get you? The usual? Oh we have such a wonderfully prepared sou-"
"No thank you Matthew. I would like two Colas, and two orders of chicken fingers and fries." He titled his head,
"Ah.. chicken fingers? And Fries?" Weiss nods.
"Yes, here. For you." Weiss handed him a few bills. Making him grin again and vanish quickly into the kitchen.
"Ah Weiss..? What did you do?"
"I gave him the tip early."
"Why would you do th-" and before she could finish she had Two colas and two plates of chicken fingers and fries. Ruby looked at it, then up to the waiter.
He smiled then raced away, Weiss pinched Ruby cheek playfully. "Don't question my judgment, I know how this all works, now eat up." She let's good of Ruby's cheek.
"Ow, ok I promise I won't." She chuckled as she started eating.
They both got decently far into their meal, Weiss watched Ruby as she happily ate her meal, till a thought crossed Weiss' mind. "Hey ruby, can I ask you a question?"
She swallows, then turns to Weiss. "Sure, what's up?"
"You mom.. what was she like?"
Ruby's smile softened. "My mom?" Ruby looked down to her plate. "She was the best. She was my hero, she was a decorated war hero, and she was my biggest supporter." Ruby had a small grin. "One time, she was busy on an assignment and forgot to call me and my sister for our nightly story, we didn't mind. She still went out and bought a toy bear, and recorded hours of stories for us, and if she wasn't home, we'd listen to the stories on tape."
"Where is the bear now?"
Ruby looks down, then back to Weiss. "In my duffel bag she left me…" Weiss took Ruby's right hand and held it tight as she leaned against her.
"Your mom sounds like an awesome lady." Ruby smiled and leaned against Weiss.
"She was, she'd definitely have liked you." Weiss sighed happily.
"Hey Ruby, after this I got something else planned. Just promise me you will go through with it."
"What is it?"
"I won't tell you, I just want you to trust me. Do you?"
Ruby smiled. "Yea, I do,"
"Well, let's finish eating and go, holding hands and leaning against each other won't speed it along." They both chuckled and eventually finished their food, then they were off again.
This time, they pulled up to a large club. Classical music was playing, people were dancing, inside and outside. The atmosphere was something Ruby hadn't ever dealt with, she was a bit nervous at first, but Weiss took her hand and held it tight. With a soft smile. "It's ok, don't worry. I just wanna have a dance with you. Loosen up, ok?"
Ruby nods, "ok, I'm a little nervous, but let's do this" Weiss smiles, she walks Ruby into the club, all eyes go to them as Weiss pulls Ruby right into the center of the Dance floor.
"W-Weiss? Why are they staring at us?" She takes Ruby's hand.
"Shh, just follow my lead, and do as I say and do." She then begins helping Ruby to start slow dancing. Ruby starts off bad, but after a few minutes, Ruby starts dancing like a pro. She spins and twirls Weiss around, their movements going into perfect sync, Weiss is smiling, Ruby focused and pulling off complex moves, all ending with a final twirl and and letting her leaning get back before pulling her back up, as Weiss and Ruby share a kiss the whole place erupts in applause.
Weiss pulls back, softly panting. "Wow, you learned fast, I'm throughly impressed." Ruby smiles, pressing her forehead to Weiss.
"Well to behonest, I never told you I couldn't dance. I said I was nervous."
"Well, you did amazing."
The applause started to die down, as one last slow cap could be heard, Ruby and Weiss see François.
Waking though the crowd, pushing people aside. "Beautiful footwork Weiss, your partner can move too. Mind if I ask for a Dance?" Grinning ear to ear, he went to take Weiss' hand but stopped as he remembered the last time he tried that. He instead just put his hands behind his back.
"Go to hell…" Weiss spat out. François kept his grin. Clinging tighter to Ruby as the music continued to play,
"Come now Weiss, I'm only here to talk."
"I want nothing to do with you! Get it through your head! That meeting was a date! We never dated!" Weiss screamed.
"But Weiss please!"
"I said go to hell! I'm on a REAL DATE!" She barked louder, as François got on his knees.
"Weiss, please. I apologize for my rude behavior. I would love to talk this out." François, pleaded, begging it sounded like. Sounding like a man who was on the edge.
"I said.. No!"
Ruby held onto Weiss tightly, as Weiss looked away. Ruby growled angrily. "She said no! Now go away!" Everyone in the club was staring now as the music stopped.
François stood up quickly "Not without speaking to my bride-to-be!" He barked. As Weiss turned to say something, but soon they were surrounded but large burly men in suits, they blocked anyone from getting by or past. A few were forcing other patrons out.
"Who are these goons?" Ruby questioned as he stood up.
"Give me Weiss…" Ruby stared François down. "I will not ask again. I have to have her!"
"Like hell I'd hand her over, she's not your fucking property. If you even value your lives. You better not step any closer to Weiss or I will make you all wish you were dead…" Ruby growled,
"You will not interfere with my inheritance! Get her! And bring me Weiss! And if anyone interferes! Take them out!" François screamed as his goons rushed Ruby and Weiss.
Ruby grabbed ahold of Weiss and spun her around, as she kicked one goon in the face, then proceeded to keep spining and Dancing with Weiss as she took each goon out as they even attempted to get close enough to Weiss.
Once Weiss stopped spinning, she had to hold onto Ruby for balance. Took her a moment to see all the goons laying on the ground groaning, "oh damn…"
"Are you ok Weiss?" Weiss tried to nod, without falling over.
"Yeah.. sorry.." Ruby nervously said. François gulped, watching Ruby paying so much attention to Weiss, he slowly tried to sneak towards the exit.
He was almost to the door but stops as a bullet fried from Ruby's gun rips by him and into the wall, "where the hell do you think your going…?" He turns to see Ruby slowly walking over to him, he gulps one last time before it all went black for him.
It was only an hour or so by the time the cops got there, cheif Ironwood was the first on the scene. He found all the men tied up and pretty worse for wear, then he heard a whining from above his head, looking up, he spotted François hanging from a rope by his feet, beaten black and blue. Ironwood sighed, rubbing his eyes. "Guess this is another goddamn email…"
Weiss and Ruby were waking through the park, Weiss had Ruby's coat on. Weiss was arm and arm with Ruby. "So… what's the deal with that guy? What did he mean by inheritance? Or that bride-to-be crap?" Ruby questioned as Weiss shrugged.
"Honestly I don't know… for him to hire thugs to get me to talk to him? This is all really strange, only stranger when you entered my life, you must be bad luck, Ruby Rose." Weiss teased as Ruby chuckled softly.
"Well to be honest here, you can't blame me. I'm just the bodyguard."
"No, you are definitely more than that Ruby."
"Oh? Well what am I?" Ruby teased.
"You're mine. That good enough?" Ruby nodded.
"Definitely good enough. Anything else you wanna do?" Ruby questioned.
"Just walk some more. Then head home and watch a movie, and relax."
"Oh, ok. Can I pick the movie Weiss?" Weiss rolled her eyes, she then shrugged,
"Sure, so long as it's one of the Meveal superhero movies." Ruby's eyes lit up.
"Oh man! You're serious!?"
"Ah.. yes.. wouldn't I be?" Ruby grinned,
"Let's go!"
"Wait wha-" Ruby tugged Weiss straight though the rest of the park and back to the limo, as they took it straight home. Weiss didn't even have to walk, as Ruby picked her up bridal style, Weiss was beyond tomatoe red as she was carried from the limo, to the elevator and to Weiss' home. The elevator doors opened to Weiss apartment, first thing Ruby saw was Penny with a combat helmet on and a air horn, sitting next to a phone.
"Salutations Ruby and Miss Schnee!"
"Ahh.. Weiss?" Ruby was quite puzzled, but hoped maybe Weiss would explain.
"I-I'll e-explain l-later.. can we just get to my room? Or set me down?"
"Huh? Or right! Later Penny!" Ruby carried Weiss to her room,
"Later you two!" Penny continued to sit at the ready.
Once they got to Weiss's room, she and Ruby slipped into more comfortable clothes, Weiss in a white t-shirt and light blue pajama pants, and Ruby in a black shirt with white pajama pants with red roses. Weiss jumped into the bed first, then Ruby, Weiss grabbed her remote, then cuddled with Ruby. As the movie started, Ruby kissed the top of Weiss' head. "Weiss?"
"Yeah Ruby?"
"I… well I.. I love you." Weiss smiled, she couldn't see Ruby's face, But she knew the look it had.
"I love you too, now hush so we can watch the movie."
Ruby giggled. "Ok. I'll zip it." They got cozier as Ruby and Weiss watched the movie, eventually falling asleep. After the movie was long over, there came a knock on Weiss' door.
"Snowflake? Are you up?" Klein knocks again. "Hello?"
Weiss groans, "What is it Klein!"
"Miss Rose has two guests!" Weiss gently shakes Ruby as she slowly wakes up, and yawns.
"Y-yeah Weiss? What's up?"
"You got guests?" Ruby seemed puzzled. She slipped from Weiss' bed and headed to the door, she open the door to see Klein, dressed in his own pajamas.
"Hey Klein, you said something about guests?"
"Oh yes! They are over there". He points down the hall, and Ruby sticks her head out and sees Yang and Blake, Ruby could see Yang's Red eyes, she looked beyond pissed.
"Right… tell them.. I'll be a minute." Klein nods, as Ruby shuts the door and bangs her head on the door. "Fuck.." Weiss walks over.
"Ruby?"
"Well, Weiss. Ready to met my sister and sister-in-law…"
Author note: well stopping this chapter here, I really hope you like it, sorry if I seem to be bouncing around. I got a good reason. Everything happening is because of the same person, and their dark dealings.
