LINK TO SECTION BELOW:

We now return to Drake and Ashley.

"Andddddd we are back!" Drake grinned.

"And ready to start! Here is how we are going to do this. We will go in order of the fighters entering the arena, starting with Number ONE!" Ashley smiled.

RAPHAEL

NODE: NICKELODEON ALL-STAR BRAWL/UNIVERSE/RISE OF THE TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES

Drake and Ashley both blinked twice at this.

"Anddddd I am already calling him for answers." Ashley muttered, getting out his phone.

Drake chuckled nervously. "At least we are starting with a cameo from the main host."

Ashley rolled his eyes before dialling a number. After a few moments, someone answered it.

"Aw, come on, I didn't even do anything yet!" The voice whined.

"Oh, trust me. Compared to what you did in the last Tournament of Kikai, this is definitely tame." Ashley muttered. "Still, Xero, I have to ask. Why is the Rise version of Raphael?"

"It is actually quite simple. As the node suggests, this is a mixture of All-Star Brawl and Super Brawl Universe." Xero explained. "As much as All-Star Brawl is the 'official' go to for Nickelodeon fighting games, that list didn't have Luna Loud and I felt like she deserves to at least be part of the main roster."

"Okay… Fair enough. But you answered a DIFFERENT version that nobody asked. At least not yet." Ashley pointed out.

"Well, Super Brawl Universe used the turtles from the Rise cartoon as opposed to the 1987 versions." Xero elaborated. "As such, I decided to mix up the turtles with Leonardo and Michaelangelo showing up in their 1987 versions due to being the only turtles showing up in All-Star Brawl thus leaving Raphael and Donatello as the Rise ones. After all, it would be weird if the 1987 versions of the latter two got invited despite technically not appearing in a Nickelodeon fighter."

Ashley paused. "Yes… I suppose you are right."

"Oh, and Maurice and Monika said hi." Xero piped up.

Ashley nodded his head with a smile. "Tell them the feeling is mutual. Alright, we will hang up for now!"

As Ashley does so, Drake smirked. "And we are already starting with a direct question to the main host! This gotta be a good start!"

"Please… Don't…" Ashley muttered, rolling his eyes. He then brightened up. "But anyway, let's go to our research team to find out a little about Raphael's node AND subnode!"

We now go to Barry and Rinky grinning. "Hoo boy and you are giving us a doozy with this one! As Xero explained, the Nickelodeon node for this section is a combination of All-Star Brawl and Super Brawl Universe!"

"Despite All-Star Brawl being first in the main node name, we will cover Super Brawl Universe first." Rinky explained. "Super Brawl Universe is actually the latest of a whole chunk of online fighting games hosted by the official website of Nickelodeon."

"Ah, flash games. That takes me back." Barry said with a nostalgic sigh. "The first Super Brawl is actually a CHRISTMAS game."

"Because when I think of Christmas, I think of seeing my favourite characters smack each other." Rinky muttered. He then paused. "...Wait, what am I saying, that is an AWESOME Christmas present!"

Barry chuckled nervously. "After that, Nickelodeon released a more 'general fighting game'. Though it also released a summer and autumn version of them."

"Spring is SO overrated, anyway." Rinky muttered, rolling his eyes.

"...I think the original one IS supposed to be the spring one." Barry corrected. "The game spawned new sequels, expanding on the cast with the third game spawning a joke spinoff where they had goofy 'realistic' interpretations."

"The fourth game is centred around superheroes with each character having a transformed identity." Rinky added. "Super Brawl WORLD is a soft reboot of the franchise, going back to the original format."

"And we have finally made it to Super Brawl Universe. At this point, flash games on official sites were dying so mobile gaming is the new trend." Barry explained. "Going over from the classic fighting game format and taking steps from Marvel: Contest of Champions."

"Basically, it means that you have to UNLOCK characters using in-game AND out-game currency while levelling them up to make them stronger." Rinky explained. He then frowned. "The gameplay is extremely basic and other than a Super attack, there are no special moves."

"Also, apparently Tommy and Angelica Pickles are playable?" Barry asked in disbelief. "What kind of jackass thought it was a good idea to punch a three-year-old and a baby!?"

"...To be fair, Angelica DID deserve it." Rinky piped up.

"Rinky!" Barry gasped, appalled by this.

The ghost winced at this. "A-Anyway, onto All-Star Brawl, a more modern platform mascot fighter, developed by Ludosity, also the one behind Slap City which is in the Okron Tournament. …Tch, if it ever returns."

"Now, now, I am sure RaineSage has his reasons." Barry scolded. "It is also created by Fair Play games and published by Game Mill Entertainment, the one behind the Nickelodeon Kart Racers."

"It spawned a solid set of twenty characters with five DLC ones! And had stages from all over the Nickelodeon universe." Rinky grinned. It then faltered. "Too bad it lacks personality."

"What he means is that the game lacked voice acting and most of the moves, while having moves based on their cartoons, were lacking in variety." Barry frowned. "Some of the moves just felt like they were slapped on."

"Fortunately, there had been a leak about a second Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl so let's hope that they will learn from their mistakes." Rinky said.

"Let's hope." Barry said before brightening up. "Now onto the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!"

"Oh, dude, they are the most iconic cartoons of all times!" Rinky grinned. "It is based on an indie comic! And the funny thing is? It started as a PARODY! What happens if Marvel's Daredevil had superpowers while also being a teenager?"

"The founders of Mirage Studios, Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird, came up with the concept about usually slow turtles being ninjas." Barry chuckled. "And the rest is history!"

"The format is simple. The story is about… Well, four teenage mutant ninja turtles, named after Renaissance artist, Leonardo, the cool-headed leader with twin ninjato, Donatello, the tech guy with his bo staff, Raphael, the hothead with his sais and Michaelangelo, the part dude with a pair of nunchucks!" Rinky grinned.

"They also had a female human companion called April O'Neil, a rat old mentor called Splinter and their arch-nemesis, an armour-clad ninja by the name of the Shredder." Barry explained. "This formula is the same for all of the versions. But we will only cover the Rise version and the later the 1987 versions."

"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!" Rinky sang. "Turtles in a half-shell! Turtle power!"

Barry chuckled. "Couldn't resist, could you?"

"Nope! If a node has its own song, I will sing it!" Rinky grinned.

"Well, there is nothing wrong with that." Barry said before looking at the camera. "The Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" and the second to air on Nickelodeon, thus why the 1987 version is technically considered a Nickelodeon franchise despite not showing up on the Nickelodeon channel.

"Admittedly, the Rise version was different with the turtles being based on different turtles and having their very first versions." Rinky said.

Barry blinked twice. "Wait, you make it sound like the weapons they got into Rise are actually their ORIGINAL ones."

"They are." Rinky explained. "This version of TMNT is supposed to be more of a prequel showing that they are more interested in goofing off and fighting crime."

"...So emphasising the teenage part in TMNT." Barry noted.

"Of course, over time, they learn to grow and even get their weapons we all know and love!" Rinky grinned. "I am actually glad that Xero invited the Rise versions of Donatello and especially Raphael. While their concept is the same, they are still vastly different from other versions in that they deserve their own spots."

"Indeed. With Super Brawl Universe and All-Star Brawl, we are getting characters that we would never get in the third Battle of the Luminaries." Barry nodded. "Like Timmy Turner, Squidward Tentacles and the aforementioned Luna Loud."

"Especially since Disney and Cartoon Network expanded their roster. Well, technically they did but we will cross that bridge when we get to it." Rinky offered. "Thanks to you guys!"

The camera then went to a smiling Drake and Ashley.

"Nice one, guys. First node research and you already had a big one and you both nailed it!" Ashley smiled.

"Indeed. Now onto Raphael. As expected by his large physique and his close-range sais, he is a full-on brawler through and through." Drake pointed out.

"But don't think that he is a standard Mighty Glacier." Ashley warned. "Remember, he is a Teenage Mutant NINJA Turtle. He is much faster than he looks."

"In other words, he is a Lightning Bruiser. Sure, he has a disadvantage with his short range but with his brawn, speed and personality, I have no doubt that he is a great way to start off the tournament!" Drake grinned.

"Also, do you think that Raphael will only be limited to his skills in Rise?" Ashley piped up.

"As opposed to what?" Drake asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Well, I was wondering if he was going to have the abilities of Raphael's crossover in SMITE." Ashley explained.

Drake's eyes widened in realisation. "Oh, right! I nearly forgot about that!"

"To be fair, I heard that Leonardo and the Shredder forget too." Ashley muttered, rolling his eyes.

Drake chuckled. "So who's Raphael's skin for who?"

"Loki." Ashley answered.

Drake's smile vanished. "Wait… Loki? As in the TRICKSTER God himself Loki!?"

"Yes and just like Loki, it translates into the SMITE version, turning invisible, doing more damage when striking from behind and even summoning a version of his past to poison and blind enemies." Ashley explained.

Drake blinked twice. "...Forget Rise Raphael, that doesn't sound like ANY kind of Raphael!Yes, he is a ninja, but he is the most head-on of the turtles!"

"Yes, I don't get it either. At least it isn't as bad as Yang Xiao Long from RWBY as Terra." Ashley muttered, rolling his eyes. "OH, before I forget."

With that, he got out a list and used a pencil to cross out something. Drake looked interested.

"What's that?" Drake asked.

"Just something I decided to do for the second Tournament of Kikai." Ashley answered. "You should find out in two or three sections at the latest."

Drake blinked twice. "Um, okay?"

SIR DANIEL FORTESQUE

NODE: PLAYSTATION ALL-STARS BATTLE ROYALE/MEDIEVIL

Drake's eyes lit up. "Well, at least we are going to start Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale strongly."

"Indeed. I am stunned that Xero didn't do what SSBFreak did and just created his own Playstation All-Stars roster just like SSBFreak did." Ashley agreed.

"Well, he DID also say that he is willing to give them another chance. And if we lose Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale, we will lose the likes of Jak & Daxter and Ratchet & Clank." Drake shrugged. "Sooo… No matter how you look at it, we would lose either way."

"True…" Ashley frowned. "But let's focus on the positive! Barry, Rinky, you are up!"

The camera then went to a nodding Barry. "Alright, Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale is what you expect: A platform fighter starring various characters from games on the Playstation."

"On paper…" Rinky spat.

The bear frowned. "Rinky…"

"I am NOT apologising for complaining about the roster. I WILL wait until we talk about the characters." Rinky muttered before sighing. "But before… THAT. It is known as 'Title Fight' and the game was leaked before officially being announced on the Playstation Blog of April 26th, 2012."

"Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale played a little differently from other fighting games and even platformer fighters by having instead of health metre or damage percentage." Barry explained. "But super gauges where you have to KO your opponents with supers. Each character has three supers with the final one being cinematic!"

"Yeah, but the game is severely unbalanced. You literally just have to pick Kratos or Colonel Radec and you'll win!" Rinky added. "Seriously, some of the supers are extremely skewered!"

Barry frowned. "I suppose that tweaks were in order."

"And don't even get me started on the roster! Look, on paper, inviting female Kratos and a space cowboy is awesome, but I think I could speak for everyone when people wanted Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon over Nariko and Emmett Graves!" Rinky ranted. "Some of not even Playstation fighters like Isaac Clarke! And don't even get me started on 'Dante'!"

Barry chuckled nervously. "M-Maybe we should focus on MediEvil for now."

"Yeah, you are right…" Rinky sighed. He then brightened up. "MediEvil is an 3D platformer created for the PSone and developed by SCE Cambridge. It is basically Dark Souls if it is lighter and funner!"

"The story is about Daniel Fortesque. A blowhard who told lies about grand things like slaying dragons and vanquishing legions in an attempt to make himself look good." Barry muttered, rolling his eyes. "This had fooled the king of Gallowmere and appointed the head of the royal battalion!"

"...Yeah, there is no way of beating around the bush." Rinky groaned. "He was one of the first to die."

"Instead of owning up to his mistakes, the king of Gallowmere continued the lie in Daniel's place by acting like the latter's boastfulness was true." Barry sighed. "Like, seriously, the war was won regardless. When were you acting like it was the end of the world?"

"Speaking of the end of the world, Zarok returned a hundred years later and cast a dark spell on the land of Gallowmere which enslaved the living and raised the dead." Rinky explained. "And this includes Daniel. And to be fair, he immediately jumped at the chance to atone for his actions!"

"Despite his tales being exaggerated, Sir Daniel's game managed to be a cult classic, even spawning a sequel game, two remakes AND a prequel comic tie-in!" Barry smiled.

"Sir Daniel may have started off as a loser. But in the end, he became a true hero." Rinky smiled before growling. "Especially since and a few others have been carrying Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale on his back!"

"Hey, come on!" Barry scolded.

"I am just saying that Xero had the chance to use his own Playstation All-Stars. He didn't have to copy and paste from SSBFreak!" Rinky snapped back. "And it is not like he didn't have any references to take inspiration from! There is Thorgi's Arcade and Caddicarus with their own roster!"

Barry blinked twice. "...Caddicarus' roster had Mr. Domino and Rosco McQueen."

"And yet that roster is still more favourable than the one we got!" Rinky roared.

Barry groaned, slapping his forehead. "Back to you guys."

The camera then went back to a sheepish Drake and an exasperated Ashley.

"I suppose we got to have SOMEONE complaining about the note." Ashley muttered.

Drake chuckled nervously. "So about Sir Daniel. As evident by his sword and shield, he is a classic Mediaeval swordsman."

"But don't think that is all he has! For range, he also has a bow and arrow, an axe that acts like a short-range boomerang." Ashley smiled before pausing. "Also… throwable drumsticks and a potion that allows him to breathe fire."

"I don't know for sure if Playstation All-Star Rumble will improve their score from last year." Drake said before brightening up. "But I am sure that Sir Daniel will save it for a dark dawn!"

ESPEON

NODE: POKEMON

Drake smirked before pointing off-screen. "Hit it, Rinky!"

"Aight!" The ghost shouted from off-screen.

Then, a robotic voice piped up.

"Espeon, the sun Pokemon. It uses the fine hair that covers its body to sense air currents and predict its enemy's actions."

"So their fur is fluffy AND functional." Ashley smiled. "Nice!"

"Yeah, but real talk though. It is no surprise that Xero and Maurice would invite Pokemon!" Drake grinned. His grin then faltered. "Makes me bummed that I missed out by throwing my PokeCap into the ring."

"Hey, SSBFreak may have Pokemon, but he didn't have Sonic the Hedgehog at HIS fourth tournament." Ashley scolded.

"True… But I thought I couldn't make it work. But RaineSage and SSBFreak showed me that it is possible…" Drake frowned. "And I do not doubt Orange-Ratchet will do the same."

"There, there, there is always next time." Ashley offered, putting his hand on Drake's shoulder.

"Yeah, you are right." Drake said. He then slapped his cheeks together. "Well, no time for regrets! Time to move forward! Like moving forward to Barry and Rinky!"

The camera then went to a grinning Rinky. "Aight! Now what can be said about Pokemon that couldn't already be said!"

"Of course, not only is it one of the biggest Nintendo franchises of all-time but it is also the second most financial franchise in the world, topped over by Hello Kitty!" Barry pointed out. "It is about being a small child in a world where you could catch varied monsters in tiny balls and train them to beat other trainers until you are the champion of your region. …And there you go. Other than Generation 7, I explained everything about the main plot."

"There are eighteen types which are basically elements. Sure, you have your basic fire, electric and water. But you also have psychic, steel and fairy!" Rinky added.

"It spawned so many spin-offs like a photography adventure, non-adventure Pokemon battle tournament, a Tekken-inspired fighting game, a dungeon crawler series and more!" Barry grinned.

"I know that we are not being as detailed as we are with the last two nodes and subnodes, but what you see is what you get." Rinky shrugged. "That and they are actually so much that we can't talk in a single segment."

"And that goes the same for the roster of Pokemon. Needless to say, there are a whopping THOUSAND Pokemon." Barry explained. "As such, they had a lot to choose from, thus why RaineSage, SSBFreak and Orange-Ratchet decided to have their own nodes. Back to you guys."

The camera then went back to Drake. "That's fine, guys."

"Now Espeon is a mono-Psychic type so they are strong against Fighting and Poison types but weak against Dark, Ghost and Bug-types." Ashley explained.

"They are also a Squishy Wizard, having strong psychic abilities but weak physical defences." Drake noted. "So they can't take a hit, but they would make up for not only having a lot of psychic moves like Confusion and Psybeam but also other moves like Swift, a never-missing move, Helping Hand which boosts an ally's power and Morning Sun which heals them."

"It WOULD be weird if the SUN Pokemon didn't have at least one sun move." Ashley nodded.

"Also, they are an Eeveevolution. I can't think of a more solid way to introduce the Pokemon node!" Drake grinned.

FUZZY LUMPKINS

NODE: THE POWERPUFF GIRLS

BIG GUY ALERT!

"Oh dear… It is Mr. Get Off My Property himself." Ashley frowned.

"And he isn't just some Kevin." Drake warned.

Ashley turned to Drake in confusion. "Kevin?"

"Male version of a Karen." The vampire corrected.

"Oh." Ashley said.

"I'll elaborate more on why you shouldn't mess with Fuzzy, but that involves talking about his fighting style." Drake explained. "But first, we have to go to Barry and Rinky again!"

We now went to a grinning Rinky. "Sugar… Spice… And everything nice. These are the ingredients to create the perfect little girls. But Professor Utonium accidentally added an extra ingredient to the concoction! Chemical X! BOOM! Thus, the Powerpuff Girls were born! Using their ultra super powers, Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup, have dedicated their lives to fighting crime and the forces of evil!"

"Don't you just love it when the opening explains everything about the show for you?" Barry smirked. "But yeah, the Powerpuff Girls actually started out as a student film by Craig McCracken called 'The Whoopass Girls'. Yeah, don't ask why that title got away with it."

"When Craig graduated from college, he got into a job at Hanna-Barbera. Of course, it had to be more kid-friendly and had to be renamed into the Powerpuff Girls." Rinky smiled. "The short then showed up on Space Ghost Coast to Coast along with the short for Dexter's Laboratory before on the 'What A Cartoon Show' and the rest is history!"

"Along with the original cartoon, there is also an anime and even a second cartoon." Barry said before his smile vanished. "...But we don't talk about that."

"And we definitely don't talk about that other reboot where it had the Powerpuff Girls as adults with Professor Utonium turning into an a-hole!" Rinky muttered, rolling his eyes. "There is also apparently a second reboot. But we will wait and see if THAT would redeem the franchise."

"And due to being so large, it spawned a lot of games with even its own game." Barry said. "Normally, this is the part where we'll say that we don't talk about it but the roster for the Powerpuff Girls is based on it, just with the Rowdyruff Boys." Barry shrugged.

"Seeing that Bubbles single-handedly saves Cartoon Network: Punch-Time Explosion from being ended on a high-note, it only makes sense that she gets her own node!" Rinky grinned. "Plus, it helps expand the Cartoon Network roster! Back to you guys!"

The camera then went to a nodding Ashley. "Thanks, guys. Also, nice work expanding on the smaller segment we had for the last tournament."

"Now Fuzzy is the classic Unskilled But Strong fighter. He just focuses on using his natural brute force to win fights." Drake explained. "However, he is basically a toned-down Hulk. If you touch his property, he will not only get angrier but also stronger and more muscular."

Ashley shuddered at this. "And considering that in this tournament, there is always ONE person accidentally bumping into a fighter, someone will push his Berserk Button sooner rather than later."

"Yeah, not exactly the biggest way to show off the Powerpuff Girls in comparison to Mojo and HIM but at the very least, he will show what the girls will deal with on a regular basis." Drake said with a sheepish chuckle.

R.O.B.

NODE: SUPER SMASH BROS/ROBOT OPERATING BUDDY

Ashley blinked twice. "...I am still stunned that he made it into Super Smash Brothers when he was technically not into a game but rather a controller accessory."

"To be fair, R.O.B. DID showed up in Mario Kart DS so it is not like he never appeared in a game before that." Drake reminded.

Ashley turned towards Drake. "...Did we ever find out WHY Nintendo let him into said game? Especially since they haven't done crossover racers and tracks since Mario Kart EIGHT."

The mayor merely shrugged. "Yo, Barry, Rinky, you more or less got an easy one this time around."

The camera then went to a singing Rinky. "Colours weave into a spire of flames. Distant sparks call to a past still unnamed. Bear this torch against the cold of the night. Search your soul and reawaken the undying light!"

"What else could be said about Super Smash Brothers? It is the poster child for not only platform fighters but also crossover games as a whole!" Barry pointed. "Previously starting as a Nintendo crossover, it ended up a celebration… Of ALL gaming!"

"With the largest number in any platform game of all-time!" Rinky grinned. "Of course, Orange-Ratchet had to break up the node in his own way just like SSBFreak."

Barry raised an eyebrow. "Did he? They just took out the Pokemon and Kirby. Among the ones that weren't in the Smash roster in the last Tournament of Kikai."

"True. And even still, I highly doubt it would stop Super Smash Brothers from dominating the arena." Rinky shrugged. "On the OTHER hand, with certain nodes that we will get into, I actually think that they may actually have a run for their money this time around."

"Perhaps but we will get into that later. Let's get into R.O.B. or the Robot Operating Buddy." Barry said. "Just like Ashley said, he isn't an actual game character or at least started out as one."

"He started out as a video game controller. He was created during a somewhat dark era for gaming as there was a major decline in it so he was created to save it." Rinky explained.

"Basically, he is a toy that you use your controller to tell him what to do." Barry explained. "He has Gyromite and Stack-up andddddd…. That's it. What you see is what you get."

"He has more of a story in the Subspace Emissary but that's about it." Rinky shrugged. "Sorry."

The camera then went back to Ashley. "No, that's fine. Not every node could be detailed."

"R.O.B. is a zoner that has a laser and a projectile Gyro. He could also be an ANTI-ZONER, having a spin attack that negates projectiles." Drake explained.

"Not helping is that he is actually quite heavy, being a robot and having one of the best recoveries in the game." Ashley added.

"However, those are moot when he always does poorly at these things." Drake frowned.

"Hey, come on, it is not like R.O.B. can't do well because there are some tournaments where they have gotten an elimination." Ashley reminded. "...Actually surviving a section is the issue."

"True… Still, seeing that he is the first Smash fighter, that may change." Drake said before rolling his eyes. "Because you know how people love their Smash."

"Kinda?" Ashley asked, scratching his cheek. "Wii Fit Trainer and Corrin showed up the first section of the third Battle of the Luminaries and while the former got an elimination, both didn't survive the section."

"On the OTHER hand, Wii Fit Trainer has gotten an elimination. Something she didn't get in the second Battle of the Luminaries, the original Okron Tournament OR the first Tournament of Kikai." Drake reminded. "It is all based on the cards you are dealt."

GARNET

NODE: MULTIVERSUS/STEVEN UNIVERSE

Drake jumped. "Woah! We have one of the people from arguably the biggest alliance in the tournament arriving THIS early?"

"Looks like it." Ashley noted. "And unless one of her own allies shows up in the next section, she may be going solo for a while."

"Something tells me that won't be stopping her anytime soon." Drake smirked. "But before I will explain why, you know what time it is!"

The camera then went to a grinning Barry. "Indeed, it is! Multiverse, just like Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl and Super Smash Brothers, is another platform mascot fighter, this time with franchises from Warner Brothers."

"The noticeable differences are that it is free-to-play. AND there is a strong emphasis on teamwork in comparison to other platform fighters." Rinky nodded. "Basically, it furthers 2-on-2 and the movesets that the characters have reflect that."

"There are five classes, Bruiser, Mage, Assassin, Tank and Support. Which is basically All-Arounder, Zoner, Rushdown, Mighty Glacier and… Support." Barry explained.

"It also supposedly has a story where the WB Multiverse is threatened by the Nothing from the Neverending Story." Rinky said. "It started off strong with fifteen characters with a few more in the first season. But then… Nothing. Only ONE new character and only a few holiday-themed events."

"Because of that, Multiversus had to be put down and put back on the air." Barry frowned.

"I don't get it. They were doing so well. They had several competitive tournaments, the movesets actually fit in well with the characters and most importantly, THEY HAD VOICE ACTING." Rinky exclaimed. "Why do you think the Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl got slammed over it?"

"Fatigue? Overambition? I don't know. What I DO know is that maybe it is best to pull the game back and work on it." Barry frowned. "Otherwise, they would have to let it crash and burn permanently. But for now, let's focus on Steven Universe."

"We are the Crystal Gem!" Rinky sang. "We always find a way!"

"Steven Universe is a show created by Rebecca Sugar, who not only worked on Adventure Time, but also the author of Pug Davis, a comic about a… Pug-headed astronaut." Barry said, looking stunned by the last part.

"...I know that it had to compare with Steven Universe and Adventure Time, but how did THAT make it through people's radar?" Rinky asked in disbelief.

"It is also the network's first series to be created and led by a woman and an openly LGBT individual." Barry pointed out.

"The story is about a boy named Steven Universe. Someone who is half-human, half-Gem." Rinky explained. "Gem-like aliens that are considered non-gender, they are all portrayed as female. Steven is raised by three Gems. Garnet, a cool mom, Pearl, a worrywart mom and Amethyst, the fun mom."

"The show went on different adventures and while said adventures are more slice-of-life, it slowly turned into an episodic adventure." Barry added. "We even got to learn more about the world and characters."

"Too bad. It turned polarising. First off, it was because of the large amount of hiatuses, infamously called Steven Bombs." Rinky sighed. "Next, is how Steven Universe is willing to forgive the Diamonds for what they did."

"Actually, I heard the reason for that is because the season got rushed and had to wrap everything up. And obviously, Steven going all Future on them is out of the question." Barry said.

"Oh, right, how could I forget about Future?" Rinky groaned, rolling his eyes. "Then, have I been so disappointed in someone going 'violence is fun'."

"Which is quite a shame too because the characters are still so endearing." Barry frowned. "At least seeing that Steven here should be based on his original outing."

"Yeah…" Rinky frowned. "But hey! At least it has a huge cult following and even had a couple of crossovers so it is not all bad!"

"Indeed. Plus, they are part of the biggest crossover of all time." Barry said.

"Do you think Multiversus will return?" Rinky frowned. "I really want to see Scooby and the Joker."

"I don't know what to tell you, Rinky." Barry frowned. "All we could do is keep positive and have the games we do have tie us over. Back to you guys!"

The camera then went to a solemn Drake. "Hm. Doing the best we could do right now. That is all we can do."

"Indeed." Ashley said. "Now Garnet is a Fusion so she is more powerful than the regular Gem. She is strong and tough with future vision, she is always one tough Gem to take on."

"And there are her Multiversus abilities where she could sing and dance to give herself and a nearby ally a speed or set a star on the field where she could dash towards it at any time." Drake offered.

"Garnet may be alone but just like the Crystal Gems, she will always find a way and a solid character to start off Multiversus."

BENTLEY

NODE: SLY COOPER

Drake and Ashley both smiled at this.

"Well, this is the part where we will say something but considering who we have on our team this time around, I think that we should take a cue at what Wally and Catherine did in the fourth Megamix Tournament with Punch-Out!" Drake offered.

"Barry, the spotlight is yours!" Ashley grinned.

The camera then turned to the bear who was grinning intently. Rinky was actually doing a jazz-hands motion towards him.

"Thank you, Drake and Ashley. You really didn't have to do this because Tinyhammer didn't create any OCs for me just like with Wally." Barry offered.

"Even still, it is weird to have Sly Cooper as a main node and have a Sly Cooper OC at LEAST not having some input about it." Drake piped up.

"Yeah, you know more about Sly Cooper than all fi… Four of us for it only makes sense." Rinky pointed out.

"Well, okay, I will give it my all." Barry said before stifling a cough. "Sly Cooper is a quadrilogy of 3D platformers, published by Sony and one part of the trio of Playstation 2 mascots, with the two others being Ratchet and Jak."

"They even had their own crossover game, by the way." Rinky piped up. He then frowned. "But we don't know how to talk about it. No, really, I never heard that many good things, but at least the bad stuff gets talked about sometimes. …I never heard people talking about Playstation Move Heroes. Period."

Barry chuckled nervously. "Anywayyyyy, Sly Cooper takes place in a world of anthros and has somewhat of a Saturday Morning Carton vibe. It stars Sly Cooper, one of the most well-known thieves in video game history. Despite being a thief, he actually has his own code of honour: Only steal from criminals. After all, there is no challenge in taking from good people."

Rinky smirked. "Kinda like Robin Hood. Except a little more selfish."

"Isn't that just Monsieur Hood from Shrek?" Barry asked before shrugging. "Anyway, Sly came from a long line of thieves. Unfortunately, one night, the Fiendish Five has snuck in and killed Sly's father and stolen the Thievius Raccoonus, a book that holds all of the secrets that Sly's ancestors have done over the years."

"I know that these guys are bad news, but who calls themselves the Fiendish Five unironically?" Rinky asked.

"Fortunately, it was not all gloom-and-doom as Sly meets Bentley, an intelligent yet timid turtle and Murray, a big-hearted hippo." Barry said. "They grow up together and pull heists from all the way back to the orphanage."

"...Is it weird that I want a prequel where the three try to steal the cookie jar?" Rinky asked.

"However, along with other criminals, they have to deal with the police. Including the fierce, determined Carmelita Fox." Barry smirked.

"He's not exaggerating." Rinky muttered. "I heard that she interrogated EVERYONE on our season at least once when she found out that you were on the show. Even though you weren't on the same tribe as her like Nick Boy, Yuri and Mikey! And guess who was her number one target?"

Barry chuckled nervously. "Sorry about that. But yes, despite this, Sly and Carmelita have a Lupin and Zenigata type of relationship. Even becoming a couple."

"...Deciding on what to go on dates must be a hassle?" Rinky asked.

"Because you are playing as a thief, the game involves a platformer with stealth elements, moving around the arena and sneaking around your targets." Barry said. "However, Sly Cooper has a lot of different other genre shifts in some of the missions. Even in the first game."

"...I never thought I would hear about dealing with chickens unironically." Rinky muttered.

"Like I said, the game has spawned four games. There WAS going to be a fifth game or at least a TV special but…" Barry said before sighing. "Playstation seems to be focusing on hyper-realistics nowadays."

"I am willing to bet that if they finally release a second Playstation All-Stars Royale, it would just have more hyper-realistic games." Rinky spat. "And yet, NO Crash Bandicoot…"

"Even still, the node will still live on in people's hearts with the main trio, Carmelita and even the rogue gallery having their fan-followings." Barry admitted.

"And I know who MY favourite character is." Rinky smirked.

"Oh, stop, you know that I don't count." Barry laughed. "But onto Bentley, I genuinely think he is one of the smartest people in my node. Not that he is a tech genius and he is a major strategist. Sly needs him more than he needs Sly."

"And he has one of the coolest wheelchairs of all-time." Rinky grinned.

"Indeed. Not only that it has an extendable arm for pickpocketing AND could jump, but it is also loaded with a lot of bombs." Barry pointed out. "He also has a crossbow. Though it is less of a direct weapon and more to send different types of darts like sleeping ones. All in all, he is a solid start to Sly Cooper."

"Do you think that Sly Cooper will improve this year? Again, Sly, Bentley, Murray and Carmelita ARE the faces of it, but they can't rely on them forever." Rinky pointed out.

"Indeed. Maybe they will have more luck seeing that they more or less have experience." Barry shrugged.

The camera went back to Drake and Ashley, solemnly nodding their heads.

SPIKE

NODE: TOM & JERRY: WAR OF THE WHISKERS

BIG GUY ALERT!

"...I know that this sounds strange with all the crazy fighters we've been through over the years, main OR Mystery, but it still feels weird to have SPIKE in." Ashley mused.

"I kinda get what you mean but you can't have a node with only two people." Drake reminded.

"Also true." Ashley mused, rubbing his chin. "I think I have a second more thoughts about him so let's go to Barry and Rinky for now."

The camera then went to a nodding Barry. "What could be said about Tom and Jerry? I mean, it is one of, if not THE, biggest cartoon duos of all time. It was first created in MGM studios during the Golden Age of animation and the very first characters made by THE William Hanna and Joseph Barbera."

"Though their names in their debut cartoon were named Jasper and Pee-Wee.

Though their names were Jasper and Pee-Wee in their first debut cartoon called 'Puss Gets The Boot'." Rinky said before chuckling nervously. "For some reason, I highly doubt those names caught on back then."

"Tom and Jerry actually got the names we all know them for from an in-house contest with animator, John Carr, getting the winning entry." Barry nodded.

"Here is the premise. Tom and Jerry get into wacky hijinks with each other. Tom chases Jerry. Jerry wants something from Tom." Rinky said. "Tom screams, Jerry bumps Tom on the head, etc."

"Sure, this sounds kinda basic but the basic premise managed for seven of them to win Academy Awards. For comparison, that is tied only with Disney's Silly Symphonies." Barry elaborated.

"Unfortunately, the newer cartoons went downhill for a while and did not help when it was taken over by Gene Deitch." Rinky frowned. "How could I compare the Jerry of those cartoons? It is basically Xero towards Nack the Weasel?"

"And NO ONE wants to be like that. Fortunately, Chuck Jones took over and not only did it get the series back on track, it also spawned a lot of things." Barry said.

"Like a kid spinoff, the movie where Tom and Jerry talks and a creep violates an ice cream wagon." Rinky counted.

"Rinky!" Barry scolded.

"Oh, come on, I can't be the only one who thought that!" Rinky roared before continuing. "The one where they were shoehorned in classic movies, the one where they were in a gritty live-action. Oh, and apparently the gacha game the Gatekeeper from that one cartoon into a Tumblr Sexyman."

"Wait, woah, woah, woah, wait a minute! Wait a minute!" Barry said, looking thunderstruck. "You CAN'T just drop a bombshell like that and expect us to ignore it!"

"...Even though it only has eight fighters, this is still running a little long." Rinky frowned. "We need to go onto War of the Whiskers."

"...Alright, but you better tell me during the first break." Barry sighed. "Anyway, War of the Whiskers is a Power Stone-like fighting game developed by VIS Entertainment and published by NewKidCo in North America, Ubisoft in Europe AND Susses in Japan."

"Believe it or not, this is actually the SECOND attempt at a Tom and Jerry fighting game with the first game called Fists of Fury." Rinky explained. "The core was the same, just less refined. Basically, you will run around stages from various Tom and Jerry characters playing as different characters while beating the crap out of each other while using toon physics and weapons. Even technically draining the opponent's health and knocking tiny health packs out of there."

"Admittedly, there isn't that much content despite the large amount of fanservice to the cartoons. Hell, it also has eleven characters. Or rather than seeing that Jerry and Monster Jerry are the same character." Barry pointed out. "Thus making it the smallest roster in the tournament."

"Still, I don't hear people complaining about it. And Wally didn't even say 'We Don't Talk About It' when he and Catherine reviewed it." Rinky reminded. "It must have done SOMETHING right. Even though I think they will have a long way ahead of them."

Barry raised an eyebrow. "Not a fan of the game, Rinky?"

"Actually, I am. It is just that… I know that Tom and Jerry are popular enough to have their own node." The yellow ghost frowned. "But I think they may be an extreme case of Sly Cooper."

Barry put a hand on his chin. "True… When you think of Tom and Jerry, you think of… Tom and Jerry. Not Butch or Tyke."

"They literally brought in Lion and Eagle due to the lack of 'heavyweight' characters!" Rinky added. "I think that while Tom and Jerry will be fighting each other the whole time, they will still be carrying the node."

"Probably but who knows? Maybe the cast will surprise us." Barry shrugged. "Anyway, back to you guys."

The camera then went back to Drake and Ashley… Blinking twice.

"Tumblr Sexyman…?" Ashley asked.

Drake shook his head to get rid of the negative thoughts. "Anyway, Spike is a heavyweight character."

"Yeah, in his node. He is still shorter than most of the other fighters!" Ashley reminded.

"True, but at the same time, half of said fighters aren't as built as him." Drake retorted, flexing his arms.

"Yes, but he also has a tendency to pick fights with cats!" Ashley reminded. "Even in the Tom and Jerry Kids show, Spike… A GROWN DOG beats up Tom, a KID, just like he did with an adult!"

Drake winced at this. "That's… That's actually… Oof…"

"Yes, we should be grateful that Espeon could actually fight back and then some." Ashley nodded.

"Well… He may be a polarising character, especially after hearing THAT. But still, not a bad character to start off with Tom and Jerry." Drake said. "I mean, while not as prominent as Tom and Jerry, he IS the most well-known character besides those two."

ELMER FUDD

NODE: LOONEY TUNES: WORLD OF MAYHEM

Drake put his finger to his mouth. "Be very very quiet."

Ashley nodded his head. "Elmer's hunting eliminations."

The two then did Elmer's laugh.

"I am actually surprised you joined in on it." Drake admitted with a smile.

"To be fair, I have no problem with you spamming catchphrases." Ashley shrugged. "Just the louder ones."

Drake raised an eyebrow with a smirk. "Oh? I clearly remember you saying loud Yugioh catchphrases in the last recap show."

Ashley winced with his face turning beet-red. "That's different!"

"I strongly doubt it." Drake taunted. "I'll tease more about you but I don't want to deter any more screentime from Barry and Rinky."

The camera then went to Rinky not holding a cane and doing a dance while singing the theme to Looney Tunes.

"Again, Looney Tunes is another node that needs no introduction." Barry smiled. "But for those who don't know, it is a series of theatrical cartoon shorts released between the 30s and the 70s, alongside Merrie Melodies. The latter title is based on Disney's Silly Symphonies."

"Not in a 'Shrek making fun of Disney' way, but they had a lot of public-domain songs in their cartoons to save on pennies." Rinky added. "The first set of Looney Tunes was introduced with 'Sinking in the Bathtub' starring Bosko the Talk-Ink Kid, the Oswald the Rabbit of Looney Tunes. As for Merrie Melodies, it appeared with 'Lady, Play Your Mandolin' with THEIR version of Mickey Mouse, Foxy!"

"...Looney Tunes really did copy a lot from Disney in the early days, didn't they?" Barry noted. "Anyway, while the cartoons were played in black and white, Looney Tunes finally got played in colour in 1942 in favour of a certain grey bunny…"

"We also got the star line-up Chuck Jones, Tex Avery, Bob Clampett, Friz Freleng, Frank Tashlin, Art Davis and Robert McKimson!" Rinky grinned. "ANOTHER Looney Tunes like Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Wile E. Coyote and Roadrunner and many others!"

"And with a large line-up, it made a spawn of cartoons, spinoffs, video games and movies!" Barry grinned. "They made a gacha game which the roster is based on!"

"World of Mayhem is a free-to-play mobile game in a four-on-four RPG team match! Basically, you choose four Looney Tunes to battle another team of four. However, each character has their own attribute." Rinky explained. "Instead of offence, defence or support. They can be unlocked by collecting Illudium, the energy for the Reatomizer."

"Hold up, Rinky, you've gone ahead of yourself!" Barry warned before looking at the camera. "Basically, the plot, or at least the excuse why this is happening is after Bugs took a wrong turn at Albuquerque, he finds out that Marvin Martian has rounded up all of the other toons with a disintegrator and reduced them to round discs bearing their images on them in order to be unopposed in his latest scheme to take over the world."

"After a quick fight, the machine containing the discs containing the other toons, called the Reatomizer, shorts out and explodes, scattering them all over the Looneyverse." Rinky said. "And now it's up to Bugs and whichever ally he comes across to fight through Marvin and his army of clones of the other toons to restore order to the world."

"...Except Marvin could technically be recruited to." Barry reminded.

"Well, maybe it is just a disc. Why else would the likes of Sylvester & Tweety and Wile E and Roadrunner work together?" Rinky shrugged.

"Also true. And it is not like they need the plot to be good because even now, the game is going strong with new characters and variants being invited." Barry said.

"Even though gacha games could be polarising, the game truly feels like a celebration of Looney Tunes!" Rinky grinned. "Sure, I don't see the likes of She-Tasmanian Devil doing that well, it is still nice that the game reminds us that she exists."

"Between Bugs' streak in the first Tournament of Kikai and the large number of characters in the roster, I think that THIS node will be the one that will give Super Smash Brothers a run for its money!" Barry noted. "Back to you guys."

The camera then went to a nodding Drake. "Keep at it as always you guys!"

"Now normally I would complain that Elmer will just use cartoon physics, albeit with a trademark weapon in his shotgun, we actually more or less have something to talk about besides that." Ashley smiled.

"That's right! Introducing the Safe Zone!" Drake grinned.

"Again, due to the large number of variants that the Looney Tunes have in World of Mayhem. As such a character could go into it to change to fit a new playstyle." Ashley said. He then paused. "Wait… Do they need to enter the Safe Zone to change? The Crash Bandicoot node have no problem changing into THEIR Nitro Fueled outfits?"

"Yeah, I admit that I don't have an answer for that." Drake said, scratching the back of his head. "At the very least, it is an interesting way to avoid getting hit by a stray attack and accidentally eliminated."

"Also true… Especially with the emphasis of cartoon fighters this time around." Ashley muttered, rolling his eyes. He then brightened up. "But fighters better not push their luck. If they stay in the Safe Zone for over two minutes, they will be kicked out by Monika and won't be able to re-enter until the section is full of thirty fighters. …Well, forty fighters, sometimes. But we will cross that bridge when we get to it."

"Also, only one person could enter the Safe Zone at a time. Needless to say, there will be a lot of fighting over them." Drake said.

"Typical." Ashley muttered. "So what are Elmer's variants?"

"Well, there is…" Drake said before taking a deep breath. "Archon Elmer, Concierge Elmer, Corny Conductor Elmer, Cupid Elmer, Elmer Bugs, Elmer the Sure, Giant Elmer, Lion Tamer Elmer, Mountie Elmer, Private Fudd, Siegfried Elmer and Waiter Elmer."

With that, he panted heavily, leaving Ashley stunned.

"...What?" Ashley said, finally.

"...World of Mayhem has been around since 2018. And Elmer is obviously one of the main characters." Drake reminded. "You do the maths!"

"Um, alright. At the very least, Elmer is a solid start for the Looney Tunes." Ashley noted. "Even though he is not one of the big ones, he is still an iconic character."

PATTI MAYONNAISE

NODE: DISNEY TELEVISION ANIMATION ALL-STARS/DOUG

TEAM: Disney's One Saturday Morning

Drake and Ashley both blinked at this. The latter then got out his phone and called Xero again with a frown.

Xero answered it. "Yo?"

"Look, I get it. While letting Penny go instead of Suga Mama was a gamble, it worked out and Penny even won it all. Thus why you are more willing to let a few more Slice-Of-Life characters in the fray." Ashley admitted. "But don't you think you are overdoing it with some of the choices?"

"It can't be helped. Most of the shows from Disney's One Saturday Morning are Slice-of-Life cartoons." Xero pointed out.

"But still, don't you think that having TWELVE Slice-of-Life characters is pushing it?" Ashley added.

"Again, can't be helped. Besides, not having Penny Proud has proven that a Slice-of-Life character could do well, but so can Luna Loud, Snoopy and Merengue." Xero reminded.

"Look, I see your line of logic. I just don't want to see said Slice-of-Life people getting seriously hurt. Especially since most of them are CHILDREN." Ashley reminded.

"I mean, if they didn't HAVE to enter. They could always refuse. And yet they didn't." Xero offered. "Sure, obviously they are nervous, but give them faith. Again, if I didn't do the same for Penny."

Ashley paused before sighing. "Alright, I will give them the benefit of the doubt for now… I just hope you know what you are doing."

"To be fair, you said that when Penny Proud came out and looked where we were." Xero retorted. While Ashley couldn't see it, it was clear he was smirking.

"Alright, alright, see you later…" Ashley muttered before hanging up.

"...Is it weird that MY concern is that Doug didn't start at Disney?" Drake piped up.

"It IS peculiar when you think about it. Especially with a certain node in the tournament." Ashley admitted. "But that is not our place to say. Barry, Rinky, last one before the first break!"

The camera then showed a nodding Barry. "Very well. We will make it count. Disney Television Animation is an animation studio owned by… Well, The Walt Disney Company. It was established in 1984 by then newly-appointed Disney CEO Michael Eisner, who was convinced that outsourcing animation production could still result in a product that would meet the company's quality standards."

"In other words, Disney will have its own designated cartoon channel, just like Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon." Rinky said before frowning. "It's… A little hard to explain it in a few words."

"Here, let me try." Barry offered before taking a deep breath.

"The studio would come to serve as the company's main television animation production studio, with programming initially being produced for syndication before the creation of The Disney Afternoon programming block in 1990, followed by ABC's One Saturday Morning in 1997. Currently, the studio is an asset of Disney Branded Television, producing content for two of Disney Branded Television's TV channels, Disney Channel, which is aimed at older kids and general audiences, and Disney Junior, which is almost exclusively aimed at younger children, as well as the Disney+ streaming service; while Disney Television Animation no longer produces programs specifically for Disney XD ,the third of Disney Branded Television's Disney-branded TV channels, its current Disney Channel programming is generally also aired on there as well. Originally established as the Walt Disney Pictures Television Animation Group, the studio's name was changed to Walt Disney Television Animation in 1988 before being shortened to just Disney Television Animation in 2011. In the mid-2000s, programming intended for the Jetix action block and international networks were produced under the banner of Jetix Animation Concepts, a joint venture between WDTVA and Jetix Europe, then a legally-separate company."

Rinky blinked twice as Barry breathed in and out.

"...Oh, that was NOT a few words." Rinky pointed out. "Hell, that was just copy-and-paste from TVTropes!"

"It can't be helped. The node is basically the ENTIRE channel to an extent." Barry pointed out. "Trying to talk about a CHANNEL naturally is harder than it works."

"Well, all you need to know is that the node is based off of Disney. To be specific, Disney cartoons. And most of them are original, save for Timon and Pumbaa." Rinky explained. "That is why we don't see people from Aladdin or Hercules."

"The node is based on four eras, Disney Afternoon, Disney's One Saturday Morning, Disney Channel Original and Disney XD Original or rather just modern Disney cartoons overall." Barry said.

"I knew if Orange-Ratchet had a chance to put in more Disney, he would do it." Rinky said, rolling his eyes.

"Well, Penny IS from the Disney Television Channel so it only makes sense to give her own node. Especially since all of the other winners are invited without being Mystery Fighters." Barry reminded. "But we will get to that eventually. For now, we will cover Doug."

Rinky then started to hum the theme song to Doug.

"Doug is actually one of three original Nicktoons." Barry started before smirking. "That's right, you heard me. NICKTOONS."

"The only two original Nicktoons are Rugrats and Ren and Stimpy." Rinky explained before shrugging. "Yes, believe it or not, there was a time where Spongebob WASN'T the face of Nicktoons. The show was about an eleven-year-old boy named Doug Funnie and his normal, everyday life in a world of colourful characters."

"He isn't exaggerating, his family is the ONLY ones with a normal skin colour." Barry pointed out. "Real talk, there is his best friend, the eccentric, Skeeter, the school bully, Roger, his crush, Patti and of course, Porkchop, the Snoopy to his Charlie Brown."

"It is based on Jim Jinkins' own experiences growing up in Richmond, Virginia." Rinky explained. "Also, Doug is known for having an active imagination, having many exaggerating Imagine Spots based on the situation. Even having his alter egos based on various pop-culture heroes like Superman, Indiana Jones and James Bond."

"The show was also one of its first to have a Grand Finale for its show and of course, we can forget the scatting soundtrack." Barry said. "Though after its initial run, the show's production company, Jumbo Studios, was bought by Disney, thus why it is on the Disney side and not Nickelodeon. And while most, if not all of the characters are still recognisable, they all had different looks."

"It is even the plot of the first episode of the Disney run." Rinky pointed out. "Despite this, it still had the heart of the Nickelodeon, albeit with different writing. In the end, it had a movie, a theatre adaptation and even a grand finale like the Nickelodeon one."

"Safe to say that Doug is a fan-favourite." Barry chuckled.

"Except for people like Doug Walker." Rinky said before smirking. "But considering that we want to distance ourselves from him, that is THEIR problem. Back to you guys."

The camera then went to a smirking Drake. "Nice one, Rinky."

"I don't know… I know that Patti is a jock, but I don't think she will Gorin High School her way to the top." Ashley frowned.

"First off, nice reference." Drake said. "Secondly, while it isn't the most refined fighting style, it is still a fighting style. She just has to find the right timing. Penny did and you saw how THAT turned out."

"True…" Ashley noted. "Anyway, I think we should take a break."

"Yeah, this part is already twenty-four pages." Drake said before looking at the camera with a grin. "But don't worry, folks! We are going to take a short break! We will return with the second third of the fighters!"
