Hi everyone. Yep, you read the title right. We got ourselves a Chibi sub-story going on here! To be honest, I wasn't originally planning on doing this… I wasn't that big of a Chibi fan, but after rewatching it a bit, I ended up liking it. But, unlike all those funny Chibi RWBY stuff you normally see, these aren't going to be self-contained stories, and it's not strictly for comedic purposes. It'll make sense as you read along.
But don't you worry, I plan to have the main storyline updated in just a few days. Now, without further delay, let this sub-story begin.
A Chibi Rose in the Classic Wind (Part 1)
Somewhere in the infinite expanse of the multiverse was a world called Remnant. But this was not like the Remnant where people fight monsters every day, struggling to survive against an ancient and terrible evil that wishes to destroy them all for the sake of her own personal grief. No, this Remnant was very different. This one was much more, lighthearted, so-to-speak. Rarely anything bad happens here, and the people who live in it don't have to deal with life-or-death situations every day, or at all. In fact, the worst that usually happens are typically cartoonish pranks from their so-called enemies.
A group of eight teenagers that called this version of Remnant their home strolled across the park with nothing else to do.
"Ah, it's such a gorgeous day today, isn't it?" The Ruby Rose of this dimension sighed happily with all her friends behind her.
"Yes, it is truly lovely." Weiss Schnee agreed.
"It's nice." Blake Belladonna nodded.
"A girl can really kick back and relax here." Yang Xiao Long let herself fall to the ground with a happy sigh.
"After a week of adventures, it's good to just do nothing." Jaune Arc added.
"I doubt anything can ruin such a lovely day for us." Pyrrha Nikos commented.
"Why do I have a feeling you all just jinxed us?" Lie Ren wondered. While he did enjoy the nice day as well, he was still somehow the realist of this group that lived in this particular reality.
"We got jinxed six times over! Six jinxes in a row!" Nora Valkyrie exclaimed.
However, these eight weren't the only ones strolling through the park. Five people, also native to this version of Remnant, appeared to be tailing them. They snuck from bush-to-bush, zipping from tree-to-tree, being careful not to make a sound as they all hid behind a large rock and began formulating a plan.
"Heh, heh, heh… Those chumps look like they're having a nice day, huh?" Cinder Fall snickered.
"Then let's ruin it for them, shall we?" Roman Torchwick proposed as he too snickered mischievously.
"So, what kind of evil prank do we have planned for them?" Mercury Black asked. "Maybe putting rats in their pants?"
"Or how about we throw water balloons at them stuffed with chili sauce?" Emerald Sustrai proposed.
Neopolitan silently held up a sign that read "Let's throw banana peels at their feet and watch them trip into all these pies I made!" She pulled out a tray of freshly baked pies from out of nowhere, as well as another sign. "They're made from black liquorice."
"Oh, that is perfect." Roman grinned.
"Yeah, nobody likes that stuff!" Cinder added.
"I do." Mercury said, his voice appearing stuffed as he was actually eating one of the black liquorish pies, causing everyone to look at him in shock. "What? It's in my name. Mercury Black? Black liquorice. Duh!"
Meanwhile, Teams RWBY and JNPR seemed rather oblivious to what their mischievous enemies had planned for them, but they stopped their strolling once Blake came to a sudden stop.
"Blake? What's wrong?" Yang asked.
"Did you guys hear that?" She asked the group.
"Hear what?" Ren questioned.
"I didn't hear anything." Jaune said.
"You seriously don't hear that?" Blake asked. "It sounds… like something is… pulsating?"
"Pulsating?" Ruby asked.
"Is that a real word?" Nora questioned.
"It is a real word." Weiss confirmed
"Indeed, pulsating is described as a strong and regular rhythm. Also known as throbbing." Pyrrha explained.
"Well… I think it's coming from… the sky…" Blake looked up, everyone else following her gaze as they all looked in shock to see some kind bright magenta energy flash in the sky, before a small meteor-like object fell down and crashed on the ground twenty feet in front of them.
"Whoa! A meteorite!" Jaune exclaimed.
"Let's go check it out!" Ruby said as the eight of them ran towards the small crater, unaware of the Cinder and her group following close behind, curious about the strange phenomenon that occurred as well.
While the five so-called villains hid behind a random park bench close to the crater, the eight Chibi-heroes peeked directly into the hole to see a strange object lying in the very center of it.
It appeared to be a glowing, oddly shaped, magenta colored, icosahedron, gemstone with a black ripple pattern along the surface. It also emitted a strange pulsating-like sound that went up and down, with the glowing light fading in and out in sync with the sound.
"What is that?" Yang asked.
"I don't know… It could be dangerous." Weiss said cautiously.
"That thing is what's making that sound I heard." Blake pointed out.
"Yeah, we hear it now too." Ren added.
"It's a glowing rock… but I don't think it's the good kind of glowing." Nora said, sounding rather nervous.
"What should we do?" Jaune asked.
"Perhaps we should see whether it's dangerous or not." Pyrrha suggested.
"One of us should… maybe touch it…" Ruby said, only to look around and see all her friends were all hiding behind a park bench some distance away, which just so happened to be next to the one Cinder and her group were hiding, but none of them seemed to notice each other for some reason.
"You guys are the worst!" Ruby called out in comic fury, leaping up from the ground in fumes. Calming down, Ruby picked up a random stick and slowly tip-toed into the crater. She slowly and cautiously came ever closer to the glowing and strange-sounding stone. Once she was close enough, she lightly tapped it with her stick, giving a startled yelp as she jumped out of the crater, waiting for something to happen.
But nothing did. No explosions. Nothing at all. Slowly lifting her head from her cover, Ruby then approached the gemstone once again and poked it again with her stick. Still no reaction. Another poke, no reaction. She then proceeded to poke it in every direction, and still got nothing. After maybe the twentieth poke, she shrugged and threw away the stick before picking up the stone in her hand.
"Hey guys! It's okay!" Ruby called out to everyone. "It's just a dumb glowing rock! Nothing special I…"
However, her eyes slowly turned their gaze towards the gemstone. Before she knew it, she felt herself being entranced by it, the sound and the lights, they just seemed to captivate her. Almost as if she was being hypnotized by it. Her silver eyes shining a brief magenta color that matched the stone.
Suddenly, and without warning, an energy wave exploded from the stone; encompassing not only Ruby, but also Weiss, Yang, Blake, Jaune, Nora, Pyrrha, and Ren; even Cinder, Roman, Emerald, Mercury, and Neo.
When the flash subsided, all thirteen of them were gone. There wasn't even a trace of them left. Not in this park, or this whole reality.
Somewhere, across time and space, a blue blur ran through a green grassy field with beautiful lakes and various hills, several of which curved up and down, even forming whole loopdiloops with the path being upside down for a brief moment. But that was no problem for the young blue hedgehog that ran up and down the loop.
"How many times I have ran through Green Hill Zone, again?" The young Sonic the Hedgehog, from very early in his career, asked himself. "Man, I wish something would happen. I know we just helped Knuckles save his island and giant Emerald from Robotnik, but a guy needs some action, ya know?"
"Hey, Sonic!"
The blue Hedgehog looked upwards to see his bestest buddy fly down from the sky and meet up with him, flying at a speed that allowed him to keep up with Sonic.
"Hey, what's the word Tails?" Sonic asked in a friendly manner.
"My equipment's been acting up lately." Miles Tails Prower answered, pulling out a small hand-held device in his hand. "I think there's been a massive distortion of space-time!"
"Is it Robotnik trying to conquer the world again?" Sonic asked. "Please say, yes cause I'm super bored."
"I don't know if it's Robotnik, but something's about to happen. Something real soon." Tails said. "In fact, according to these readings… it looks like something's about to happen right… Now!"
On cue, a bright flash of magenta light appeared in front of Sonic and Tails, both unable to stop as they slammed into the suddenly appeared Ruby, Weiss, Blake, and Yang. All six collided with one another, tripping over each other and forming a ball comprised of the six of them.
Somehow, that ball continued to roll through the rest of the Green Hill Zone. The rolled down the path, up and down various hills, even a loopdiloop of their own. They bounced off a bounce pad that sent them up to another hill before rolling back down. After a few minutes of rolling and screaming, they all crashed into a sign before breaking apart and lying flat on the ground. The sign spun around upon impact before stopping to reveal all six of their faces that gave smiles and peace signs.
They all groaned as they slowly pulled themselves up.
"What hit us…?" Weiss asked, shaking the cobwebs from her head.
"Felt like a roller coaster…" Blake said.
"Where are we?" Yang asked.
Upon regaining all their senses, Sonic and Tails looked at the small Chibi girls in surprise, who looked at them in an equally surprise state.
"Who are you guys?" Ruby asked.
Sonic smiled. "And just like that, my boredom has been cured."
Meanwhile, in another area of the Green Hill Zone, there was another strong hero currently working out alongside his own flying partner.
A young anthropomorphic armadillo with a black body and thick red armor picked up a large boulder singlehandedly and threw it at flying squirrel with yellow fur and dark tan skin. The squirrel avoided the boulder with incredible ease.
"Ha! Not even close!" Ray the Flying Squirrel grinned. "You're gonna have to do better than that, Mighty!"
Mighty the Armadillo gave a friendly chuckle. "This is a nice work out. We're getting my strength training and your reflexes all in one shot. Two birds and one stone."
"Literally!" Ray smiled as he fell to the ground again before leaping back up to glide in the air once more.
"Ready for another one, Ray?" Mighty asked as he picked up another boulder.
"Let it fly!" Ray cheered as he flew around with anticipation.
With a heave, Mighty threw the boulder, which Ray literally flew circles around as it soared past him, shouting 'wee!' the whole time. However, in the sky, there was a bright flash of magenta color as four figures appeared in the air…
Only to get struck by the flying boulder and sent crashing to the ground.
"Oh my gosh!" Mighty gasped as he and the shocked Ray ran to the downed four Chibi kids. "I'm so sorry! I didn't see you guys there!"
"Are you okay?!" Ray asked urgently.
Jaune, Pyrrha, Ren, and Nora all pulled themselves up with groans, all of them dizzy with tiny Chibi-Nevermore flew around their heads.
"I felt like I was hit by a boulder…" Jaune groaned.
"I think we were hit by a boulder…" Ren confirmed.
"Let's get hit by another boulder!" Nora cheered, while still dizzy.
"I think I saw my life flash before my eyes…" Pyrrha added. "But somehow… I was taller… and it was cut tragically short…"
"Bomb-mook, you've had a lot of stupid ideas, but this takes the cake!" Fang the Sniper, a purple and white furred anthropomorphic jerboa-wolf wearing a brown Stetson hat, commented in his thick Australian accent.
"Come on Fang, have a little fun." Bean the Dynamite, a green-feathered duck with blue eyes and a yellow beak, said as he tied a whole bunch of bombs and dynamite sticks to a large firework. "A little extra firepower for the fireworks! Get it?!"
"I get it!" Fang exclaimed before turning to his other teammate. "Come on Scarf-Moon, tell him how stupid this idea is!"
Bark the Polar Bear, a large, yellow-furred polar bear wearing brown gloves with brown and red boots, a green scarf, and red winter hat, seemed to agree as he silently gestured to the leader of the Hooligans with his thumb.
"Guys, fireworks are alright on their own. But add some more bombs to it, and it'll be an even bigger bang!" Bean grinned maniacally as he lit a match and lit the fuse.
All three of them quickly hid behind a large rock nearby as they saw the lit fuse less than a few centimeters away from the rocket that would light up this literal powdered keg.
"FIRE IN THE HOLE!" Bean shouted in joy while Fang and Bark cowered behind the rock, expecting to be caught up in a blast that would surely be painful.
Suddenly, the pile of bombs and fireworks exploded. But not from the lit fuse, from a bright burst of magenta-colored energy that seemed to mix with the explosives, causing them to light up as well, triggering an even bigger explosion that created at mushroom cloud that could be seen from quite the distance.
Fang, Bean, and Bark remained in their spot, the rock having protected them from the blast had just disintegrated as their eyes were so wide they were circular.
"That was bigger than I thought it was gonna be…" Bean commented. "IT WAS AWESOME!"
"It was downright insane!" Fang exclaimed, pulling the crazy duck to his face. "That's it! I'm taking away all your chocolate milk for a week!"
"What?! No! Come on, Fang! Don't be that guy!" Bean begged as Bark turned around to see something odd-looking at the epicenter of the explosion.
"I can be whatever kind of guy I want, even that guy! Cause I'm the top guy here! Ya hear me!?" Fang exclaimed. "So, when I say…!"
Suddenly, Bark grabbed Fang and Bean by their heads with his hands and turned them to face the direction of the spot he was looking at.
Lying flat in the center of the crater, covered in black soot, were the Chibi Roman Torchwick and Neopolitan, the later held up a sign that simply read 'Ow.'
"What in the heck…?" Fang questioned as Bark also looked at them curiously. "Where'd these mooks come from?"
"I just made two people pop outta nowhere! I'm not only a bomber, I'm a magician!" Bean celebrated.
Meanwhile, the nefarious Doctor Robotnik remained confined in his own hidden laboratory, working at the controls of one of his computers, which seemed to connect directly to a factory-like machine located on the other side of a large, thick wall of plexiglass. Mechanical arms and other similar pieces of equipment seemed to be attaching robotic parts together around five specific units.
"Yes… Yes…!" Robotnik grinned. "Once the Hardboiled Heavies are complete, I'll have the best commanders to organize my robot army! And then I'll finally rule the world! Muh, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha!"
Robotnik's ecstasy was interrupted by a flash of magenta-colored light behind him. He turned around in shock to see the Chibi Cinder, Emerald, and Mercury appearing out of nowhere, all three of them shaky and dizzy, trying to get their senses.
"What happened?" Mercury asked.
"I'm seeing pink spots everywhere…" Emerald said.
"Who are you?!" Robotnik exclaimed. "How did you get into my laboratory!"
"Who are you?! How did we get into your laboratory!" Cinder repeated back.
"Grrr. No intruders in my lab! Get em!"
A flash of blue and red struck Mercury and Emerald respectively. Both of them were pinned to the wall by two of Robotnik's prized robots. Metal Sonic held Mercury up by his throat, while Metal Knuckles did the same for Emerald.
"Ha!" Cinder gloated, pointing to Robotnik. "That's only two robots! I'm still free! Who do you got for…?"
She felt something land on her head, interrupting her banter. She slowly gazed up to see the face of Tails Doll gazing down at her with soulless eyes.
Cinder's high-pitched scream echoed throughout the entire base.
Meanwhile, on Angel Island, Knuckles the Echidna marched back and forth like a soldier. Never wavering, always on guard for anyone who would try and steal his precious Master Emerald, which was right behind him. It had only felt like yesterday that Robotnik tricked him and had taken the Master Emerald from right under his nose. But he would not allow anything like that to happen again. He would defend the world's most powerful gemstone from any and all foes.
Suddenly, he came to a stop. He didn't know why, but he just got a weird feeling. A feeling that something was about go really wrong, really quick.
"Hmmm, I sense…. A disturbance…"
Unbeknownst to him, there was indeed a disturbance, one far closer than he would expect. Somehow appearing underground in a small cavern, some hundred feet beneath the surface of Angel Island, was the very same gemstone that had brought the Chibi individuals from their world to this one. The one that continued to make the same ominous sound, as if it were breathing.
This was the Phantom Ruby.
Done.
Yep, we got a bit of a reverse situation going on with this sub-story, where Chibi RWBY characters are zapped to Sonic's world, meeting the Classic Sonic and all his friends and enemies.
I said before how this wasn't going to be a series of comedy bits and would have its own storyline to it that runs parallel to the main story I'm writing, and I'm sure you can take a guess as to what's going to happen.
Don't worry, there is still plenty of humor and comedy to go around, with a nice blend of action and storytelling, one that's much more lighthearted from what we're about to get in the main story.
Already, the Chibi versions of RWBY, JNPR, Cinder's team, along with Neo and Torchwick, have been zapped to the Classic Sonic world where they've met Sonic and Tails, Mighty and Ray, Doctor Robotnik (with Metal Sonic, Metal Knuckles, and Tails Doll), and the Hooligans respectively.
And yes, unlike in 'Generations' and 'Forces', Classic Sonic can speak.
Note: as this takes place in the Classic Sonic era, don't expect to see Team Dark or anyone else in this sub-story, as they didn't make their debut until the Modern Era started. Likewise, Classic era characters such as Mighty, Ray, Fang, Bark, Bean, Metal Knuckles, and Tails Doll won't appear in the main story either. I've already got plenty more characters coming along in that, and I don't want to overload my cast. (Don't expect any more Chibi-RWBY characters appearing here either). Though you can expect the Classic Amy to appear in the next one.
My main focus will still be 'A Red Rose in the Blue Wind', but I do plan on updating 'A Chibi Rose in the Classic Wind' at various parts throughout the main storyline, such as around the start and end of each arc. And don't you worry, I plan to update the main story in just a few days, so you don't have to worry about waiting a month for what comes next (this post was really short, but you can expect the other ones to be longer).
Until next time!
