Chapter 154: The Lion, The Witch, and the Key Part 2: The Journey to Aslan
Edmond was walking through the house of the White Witch, going through the garden that had dozens fo hundreds of stone statues in it, spooking Edmond as one of the statues was of a giant about to smash him, though he moved on deeper inbto the garden when he saw a lion, smiling to himself as he drew a mustache and glasses on it, moving deeper into the garden until he reached the steps, stepping over what he believed to be another stone statue, but it suddenly lunged, growling and scaring the kid as it revealed to be a living wolf, pinning him to the ground.
"Be still stranger!!" The wolf said, glaring at him. "Who are you?"
"I'm Edmund!" He replied. "I met the queen in the woods! She told me to come here!" The wolf still snarled at him, ready to tear into him as he didn't believe the kid. "I'm the Son of Adam!"
"Hmm, my apologies, fortunate favored of the queens." The wolf said, getting off him. "Or, not so fortunate. Follow me." The wolf went ahead as Edmund got up and followed the wolf further into the witches house, going through the frozen halls to some stairs, walking up them to a set of doors, walking in to see a throne room with a throne on the other side of the room, walking over to the throne and standing before it as the wolf looked to him. "Wait here."
The wolf then walked away to go get Jadis, leaving Edmund alone in the room, which he looked at the throne and looked around to make sure no one was looking before walking over to it, sitting on the throne and feeling powerful as he sat down, not noticing that Jadis, the white with was walking over, standing next to the throne as she smiled at him.
"Comfortable?" Jadis asked, spooking Edmund to get out of the throne.
"Y-yes, your majesty." Edmund replied, backing away.
"Tell me Edmund..."Jadis said, sitting down. "Are your sisters deaf or your brother unintelligent?"
"Well, no, they aren't." Edmund said. "But my mum always said-"
"THEN HOW..." Jadis shouted, scaring Edmund. "DARE YOU COME ALONE!"
"I-I-I tried." Edmund said.
"Edmund, I asked so little of you." Jadis said.
"They just don't listen." Edmund replied. "But I did bring them half way. They're at the dam with the beavers. Along with a few ponies and a guy called Spyro."
"Spyro?" A voice said, looking back to see Maleficent walking over.
"You know him?" Jadis asked.
"I do in fact." Maleficent replied. "He is known as the Prince of Light and Darkness. His power is greater than that of the most powerful sorcerer. His presence here changes everything, for if he gets to Aslan, then many will flock to his side."
Jadis was silent for some time, looking back to Edmund, though disappointed his sibblings didn't follow him, but was pleased they were close.
"Well, I suppose you're not a total loss, are you?" Jadis asked, turning to Maleficent. "Have your little monsters deal with this prince. My secret police will deal with the others."
"Of course, your highness." Maleficent replied.
Jadis walked to her throne to sit down, when Edmund cleared his throat, getting the white witches attention.
"If I may ask, can I have some Turkish Delight please?" Edmund asked.
Jadis just smiled, turning to the dwarf that was always by her side as he smiled as well, nodding to him as the dwarf walked over to Edmund, happy to do this.
"This way." The Dwarf said. "For your Num-nums!"
He drew his knife and forced Edmund away, letting Jadis sit on her throne as Maleficent stood next to her.
"How powerful is this prince?" Jadis asked her.
"Powerful enough to destroy a world." Maleficent replied. "And recreate it."
"Then he must be taken care of." Jadis said. "Maugrim." A moment later, the wolf that escorted Edmund to the throne room appeared next to her, looking up at her. "You know what to do."
The wolf smiled, howling out and a moment later, a whole wolf pack came out of nowhere, acompanied by Wolf-like heartless that howled with him, all of them going together towards the dam to get the humans and the ponies. A second later, Spyro and the entire group went through the door, getting back into the dam where the female beaver was.
"Hurry Mama!" Beaver said. "They're after us!"
"Oh, right then." She said, getting supplies.
"The heck is she doing!?" Rainbow Dash exclaimed.
"You'll be thanking me later." The female beaver replied. "It's a long journey to Aslan and Beaver gets pretty cranky when he's hungry."
"I'm cranky now!" Beaver said.
The others helped to get some supplies gathered for the journey, getting human and beaver food while also making sure there was enough food for the ponies so that they can make the journey, Applejack and Fluttershy helping get the supplies together.
"Think We'll need jam?" Susan asked as they packed everything.
"Only if the witch has toast!" Peter replied.
A second later, they heard the wolf pack outside, starting to dig their way in as Beaver rushed over to another door, pulling it open to reveal a tunnel underneath the dam, everyone going in right as the wolves got in and started to ransack the place to find them, going through everything and allowing them to get away.
"Badger and me dug this." Beaver said. "Comes up near his place."
"You told me it led to your mums." The other beaver said.
However, they then heard the wolves again, this time they were inside of the tunnel they were in, so Spyro slammed his fist into the wall, causing a cave in that would slow the wolves down as they all ran for it, going through the tunnel until they reached a dead end, looking to Beaver as they thought he gave them bad directions.
"You should have brought a map!" The female beaver said.
"There wasn't room for a map!" Beaver said.
"Hurry, they're coming!" Spyro said.
Everyone started to file out of the tunnel one by one, coming out, but a second later, Lucy tripped as Spyro and Peter came out, the two of them pushing a heavy barrel infront of the entrance turning around to find that the exit was littered with stone statues of animals, including Beavers friend badger, who looked terrified. Beaver approached the statue of his friend badger, which Fluttershy approached the stone statues of small woodland critters, kneling down as tears rolled down her cheeks, which Spyro noticed and knelt down next to her, stroking her head when she pressed her face into his chest, crying as he hugged her, petting her head to calm her down.
"Who would do something like this?" Rainbow Dash asked, looking at the stone statues.
"One who's heard is dark and cruel." Spyro replied, continuing to hug Fluttershy as she cried.
"She's a monster." Fluttershy said.
"What happened here?" Peter asked.
"This is the fate of those who cross the witch." A fox said, coming out from behind the bush, scaring everyone while Spyro, Applejack, and Rainbow Dash got their Keyblades out.
"Take one more step traitor, and I'll chew you to splinters!" Beaver said.
"Relax." The fox said, approaching them. "I'm one of the good guys."
"Oh yeah?" Beaver asked. "Well you look an aweful lot like one of the bad ones."
"Yeah, how do we know you're not one of them!?" Rainbow Dash asked.
"An unfortunate family resemblance." The fox said. "But we can discuss breeding later. Right now we need to get moving, or else they'll get you."
"In case ya haven't noticed, they're hot on our trail partner." Applejack said. "Them varments will be here any second. We can't out run them."
"We don't need to out run them." Spyro said, looking up into the trees. "We just need to out smart them."
"What did you have in mind?" Peter asked.
"Quick, into the trees!" Spyro exclaimed.
Everyone started to climb up the trees as best they could, Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy heping Applejack to fly up into the trees while Spyro Force jumped up, grabbing a branch and pulling himself up right as the barrel gave way, the wolf pack rushing out and encircling the fox as he finished up covering their tracks.
"Greetings gents." The fox said. "Lost something, have we?"
"Don't patronize me!" Maugrim exclaimed. "I know where your allegiance lies. We're looking for some humans."
"Humans?" The fiox asked, laughing. "Here in Narnia? Now that's some valuable information, don't you think?"
One of the wolves bit down hard on the fox, Peter having to cover Lucy's mouth while Spyr had to do the same for Fluttershy, horrifying the mare as she saw what was happening..
"Your reward is your life." Maugrim replied, laughing. "It's not much, but still."
The Fox looked at the wolves and then to the trees, seeing the humans and ponies up top, some looking terrified while others like Spyro and Rainbow Dash were ready for a fight, not wanting to give them up, the fox looked at Maugrim, fighting through the pain to tell them what he wanted them to hear.
"North." The fox replied. "They went north."
"Smell them out." Maugrim said.
The wolf then tossed the fox away, making him land a distance away before running north, following the foxes directions to see if they rung true, leaving them all alone. A moment later, Spyro had gotten a fire started for them to warm up to, Fluttershy and the female beaver tending to the foxes wounds, everyone sitting around the open flames to warm up.
"Thanks for your help friend." Spyro said. "We owe you one."
"Heh, it was nothing." The fox said. "We were helping Tumnus to escape, but the witch got here before I could help. OW!"
"You alright?" Lucy asked.
"Heh, wish I could say their bark was worse than their bite." The fox said, yelping again in pain.
"Stop squirming." The female beaver said. "You're worse than beaver on bath day."
"Worse day of the year." Beaver said, making them snicker a bit.
"Thank you, but I think that's all the care I care to have." The fox said.
"We haven't finished tending your wounds yet." Fluttershy said.
"Heh, believe me, I wish I could stay." The fox said. "But Aslan himself has asked me to gather more troops for the army."
"You've seen Aslan?" Beaver asked.
"What's he like!?" The female beaver asked.
"Like everything we had hoped for." The fox replied. "And with the children of Adam and Eve, along with the Prince of Light and Darkness on our side, many more will flock to your banner."
"But we're not here to fight in any war." Susan said.
"But King Peter, we need you." The Fox said.
"We can't win this without you." Beaver said.
Peter looked to his sisters, who looked worried as he took in a deep breath, looking back to the others.
"We just want our brother back." Peter said.
"And to get him back, you're going to need to fight." Spyro said, adding wood to the fire. "Your fates are intertwned with this world now. So is the fate of your home."
"What do you mean?" Peter asked.
"If the Heartless are here, it won't be long before they find the gateway to your world." Spyro replied. "The Heartless prey on the hearts of the weak, taking them and making more of their own kind. If they find your home, they will destroy it. You won't have a home to go back to if they find it. Heck, they may follow you back to the gateway and attack from there."
"He's right." Beaver said. "I've seen these things. They follow you until they find the perfect moment, striking without warning. If you went home now, then you'd be leading them back to your world. You'd basically be dooming your home."
Peter looked at Spyro, seeing how serious he was about what he was saying and thyen to his sisters, Lucy hugging Susan as he knew that they were right, knowing the only way to save their brother was to fight. At the witches home, in her dungeons, Edmund was chained up by the ankle, huddled up int he corner with a piece of burnt food, taking a bite, but regretting it as it tasted horrible, wanting to wash it down with the water provided, but it was already frozen, tossing the cup onto the tray as he sat there.
"I-if you're not going to eat that." Tumnus said, Edmund looking over at him and seeing the faun, grabbing the bread and scooting over as Tumnus did. "I-I would get up, but my legs..."
Edmund passed the food to him, seeing Tumnus up close and the ankle chains around his heavily damaged legs, looking at him as he devoured the food.
"Mr. Tumnus?" Edmund asked.
"What's left of him." Tumnus replied, looking to Edmund and his eyes lit up. "You're Lucy's brother, aren't you?"
"I'm Edmund." He replied.
"I knew it." Tumnus said. "The two of you have the same nose." Edmund rubbed his nose as Tumnus took another bite, looking at the scared kid. "Is Lucy alright? Is she safe?"
"I... I don't know." Edmund replied.
A moment later, they heard the doors being unlocked, the two of them moving away as Jadis and Maleficent walked in, followed closely by a few Heartless, which they were glarring at Edmund hungrily as they approached.
"My police tore that dam apart." Jadis said, stopping in front of a fightened Edmund. "Your little family is no where to be found." Edmund was both surprised and relieved to knwo they weren't captured, more relieved than before as Jadis reached down and grabbed him by the collar of his shirt and lifting him up, showing incredible strength as she did. "Where did they go?"
"I don't know." Edmund replied.
Jadis looked disappointed, looking to the Heartless as they were ready to pounce, looking back at the boy in anger.
"Then you're no longer of use to me." Jadis said.
She then threw the boy down, lifting her wand to do something to him as Edmund came up with something that may save himself.
"Wait!" Edmund said, Jadis stopping. "The Beavers said something about Aslan!"
At the mention of that name, the Heartless recoiled, showing disdain for the name while Jadis looked horrified, lowering her wand as she looked aty her captive in horror.
"Aslan?" Jadis asked. "Where?"
"I... I-" Edmund began to say, not knowing what to say.
"He's just a stranger my queen." Tumnus said, trying to save him. "Surely he doesn't know a thing."
"Silence fool!" Maleficent shouted.
The dwarf then hit the faun in the head, making him shut up as they returned their attention to Jadis.
"I said, where is Aslan?" Jadis asked, growing impatient.
Edmund looked back at Tumnus, silently begging him to say something, but not to reveal Aslan's location if he knew it.
"I... I don't know." Edmund replied, bringing relief to Tumnus. "I left before I could learn anything. I wanted to see you."
Jadis looked worried, looking to Maleficent as they both knew something.
"If the Prince can get to Aslan, and if word gets out, their numbers will grow." Maleficent said. "Combined with the Prince's power, your army and mine won't stand a chance."
Jadis knew that her ally was speaking the truth, looking to Tumnus as an idea hit her.
"I may have an idea of how to find them." Jadis said, smiling. "Guard!" A moment later, a troll came over, bowing to her. "Release the faun." The troll grunted, walking over to the faun and hitting the shackles, breaking them and dragging Tyumnus over to the Witch, thrown at her feet. "You know why you're here Faun?"
"Because... I believe... in a free Narnia!" Tumnus replied, his spirit burning with the joy that his friend was safe.
"You're here, because he turned you in." Jadis replied, pointing to Edmund. "For sweeties." Tumnus looked over to Edmund, disapponted to hear that, but knowing it probably wasn't true, but still disappointed. "Take him up stairs." The troll then started to drag the faun up the stairs, making sure he suffered every minute of it as Jadis looked back to Edmund. "And ready my sleigh. Edmund misses his family."
The witches then left the room, leaving Edmund behind as he curled up, regretting ever visiting the white witch again as he realized he made a terrible mistake, wishing he had listened to his brother, rather than being selfish.
"My heartless report more of your enemies are gathering." Maleficent said. "Word has spread of the Prince and these children of Adam and Eve. Their spirits are growing stronger and are on the march."
"Our armies combined will be more than a match for Aslan and his rebellion." Jadis said.
"Do not underestimate the prince and his lackeys!" Maleficent replied. "He is cunning as he is powerful. He doesn't go around throwing random spells as he wants. He plans his moves and he plans them well."
"Regardless, victory shall be ours." Jadis said. "Aslan will fall, and Narnia will be mine."
Jads then walked ahead, leaving Maleficent alone as she gazed at the White Witch, knowing that her bride would be her undoing and shortly followed after her, not wanting to remain in the dungeon as she knew she had much prep work to do. In the morning, Spyro and his friends were traveling through the woods, making sure not to be spotted by the witches henchmen or by the Heartless as they arrived at a cliff ledge, overlooking everything below them and in front of them.
"It's beautiful." Fluttershy said.
"Ya darn tootin' it is." Applejack said. "Where did ya say this Aslan feller is?"
"His camp is set on the otherside of the stone table." Beaver said, showing them the table in question some distance away. "Just across the frozen lake."
"But don't worry." The other beaver said. "The lake has been frozen solid for a hundred years."
"It's so far though." Peter said.
"Wouldn't be that far if someone transformed or opened a portal." Rainbow Dash said, looking at Spyro.
"Cant risk the Heartless spotting us." Spyro replied. "Besides, what'd ya think the world would be? Small?"
"Smaller actually." Susan said, sounding disappointed and bitter.
She walked away from the tohers, following the path down, which they all looked at one another, shrugging at what they did to make the girl angry with them. They walked down and continued on their way towards the stone table, which the journey alone was pretty long and they were walking across a plain of snow, the beavers ahead of them while the humans and ponies were walking behind them a slight distance away as they followed them.
"Come on humans, keep up!" Beaver said, still walking ahead. "While we're still young."
"If he tells us to hurry one more time..." Peter said, picking up Lucy and giving her a piggy back ride. "I'm going to turn him into a big, fluffly hat."
Fluttershy glarred at him, not understanding the joke, but Spyro just smiled, scratching her ear to calm her down.
"He's only joking little butterfly." Spyro said. "He won't do it."
"I hope not." Fluttershy said, glarring at Peter.
"Hurry up!" Beaver shouted.
"He's definitely getting a bit more pushy, isn't he?" Applejack asked.
"No, it's her!" The female beaver, shouted. "Behind you!"
They all looked back and saw a trail of dust and snow behind them, Peter putting Lucy down and running while Spyro stood his ground, turning to face the sleigh.
"Go with them." Spyro said, calling his Keyblade. "I'll buy you guys some time."
"We're not leavein' ya behind!" Applejack said, feeling her heart drop in her stomach as she remembered what happened to him.
"Don't worry AJ." Spyro said, patting her on the head. "I'm stronger than last time. I'll be ok. Now go."
Spyro approached the sleigh the ponies not wanting to leave him behind, but they did as they were asked and went with the other humans, Spyro taking a battle stance to get ready to fight the witch, but as the sleigh got closer and closer, Spyro recognized the sleigh, smiling as he knew who it was. The others were well ahead, running towards a section of the forest and jumping down from a small ledge and finding a small opening in the ledge to hide in, everyone pressing up against the walls and waited for the witch, hearing the sleigh come to a stop and they heard a set of foot steps, seeing the shadow of who they believed to be the witch looking around for them before leaving, not daring to look outside as they believed that she was still out there.
"I'll go up and have a look." Beaver said.
"No, one of us should do it." Rainbow Dash said.
"You're all too important to loose." Beaver said. "Besides, I saw the way your friends looks at you ponies. I don't think he would want anything bad to happen to you."
"But you're just as important dear." The female Beaver said.
"Thanks dear." Beaver said.
He then looked out, sniffing the air and walking out to see who it was, walking up the side to make sure the coast was clear, leaving the others to wait for him to come back, silence falling over the entire group as they waited for him to come back.
"Hi ho everypne!" Spyro said, scaring them and makign them scream as he hung upside down. "Oh, sorry about that."
"Spyro!" Applejack said, taking in a deep breath to slow her heart down. "Don't ever do that!"
"Wait, did you beat the witch?" Rainbow Dash asked.
"Well that's the thing." Spyro replied. "It wasn't the witch."
"It wasn't?" Applejack asked. "Then who the heck is it?"
"Well, i hope you've all been very good this year because there's someone here to see ya." Spyro said
Spyro then got up, leaving the group confused as to who would want to see them, coming out of the miniature cave and walked up the slope, seeing a man wearing a red suit with a white beard, laughing as they approached, everyone not believing what they were seeing.
"Merry Christmas sir." Lucy said.
"It certainly is Lucy." Santa said. "Ever since you arrive in this world."
"I don't believe it." Rainbow Dash said, lost for words. "Spyro, do you know this guy?"
"I do in fact." Spyro replied. "Girls, this is Santa Claus."
"The Santa Claus!?" Rainbow Dash asked. "The one you told us about back in Equestria!?"
"The one and only." Spyro replied. "I didn't recognize him until he got closer. Kinda thought he was the witch myself."
"So did we." Peter said. "We're sorry sir."
"No need to apologize." Santa said. "I've been driving one of these things much longer than the witch. Ever since the dark ages."
"But... Lucy said there was no christmas in Narnia." Susan said.
"For a long time, that is true." Santa said. "For a hundred years, there was no christmas. But when the three of you and the prince came, it sparked hope in the inhabitants of this world. And that hope has been growing ever since, weakening the witches power."
"Her power is based on fear." Spyro said. "And since the people of Narnia are starting to have hope and stand up to the witch, her powers are waning. Getting weaker and weaker."
"Still, I do believe you could do with these." Santa said.
He then pulled out is very big bagm placing it on the ground and opening it.
"Presents!" Lucy said, walking up first.
Santa ruffled through the bag to find what he had for Lucy, pulling out a small dagger and a bottle of red liquid, passing both to Lucy.
"The Juice of the Fire Flower." Santa said. "One drop can cure and heal any injury. And for this dagger, I pray you never need to use it."
Lucy took both, looking at the items before looking up at Santa.
"Thank you sir." Lucy said. "I think I can be brave enough."
"I'm sure you could." Santa said. "But as Spyro could attest, battles are ugly affairs." He then ruffled through the bag, finding a quiver full of arrows with a bow. "Susan." Susan was surprised to be called, walking up to Santa. "Trust in this bow, and it will never easily miss."
He then handed the bow and quiver to Susan, who looked at it in confusion.
"But... what happened to battles are an ugly affair?" Susan asked, which Santa just chuckled.
"Though you don't have any issue with making yourself heard, blow on this." Santa said, giving her a horn. "And no matter where you are, help will come."
"Thanks." Susan said.
Santa then ruffled through the bag again to find the last of the presents, pulling out a sword and shield, looking to Peter.
"Peter." Santa said, the boy walking up. "The time to use these is nearer than you think."
Peter took the sword and shield, looking at them before pulling out the sword, looking at it as he saw the words on it, looking to Santa with gratitude.
"Thank you sir." Peter said.
"What about us?" Rainbow Dash asked, which santa just laughed.
"Rainbow Dash, you and the herd already have everything you need." Santa said. "The armor you wear around your neck will protect you from any danger, but not from the witches magic."
"So how do we counter her magic?" Appeljack asked.
"Her power comes from her wand." Santa replied. "The wand itself can turn anyone who is stabbed with it into stone. She created it during her exile, turning anyone who stands against her into stone."
"Such darkness." Spyrp said, looking at the others. "The wand must be destroyed."
"It won't be easy." Santa replied. "But if you work together, I'm sure you can do it. As for the rest of you, the tools you have are not toys. They will keep you safe." Peter put the blade back in it's scabbard, looking to Santa as he smiled at them. "Now, I must be off. Winter is almost over. And things pile up after a hundred years." Santa then picked up his bag, putting it back in the sleigh before turning to them. "Long live Aslan!" He then got back in his sleigh and sat down, looking to them. "And Merry Christmas!"
he then snapped te reigns, making the reindeer go, everyone shouted Merry Chistmas and thanking him for the presents as he left, Santa waving his hand as he left.
"Ah though ya said he only gives out toys." Applejack said.
"Believe me, he usually does." Spyro replied. "This is a first for me. But I'm more interested in what he said."
"What do you mean?" Susan asked.
"Winter is ending." Spyro replied, looking to them. "Meaning one thing."
"No more ice." Peter said.
They continued on their way, reaching the frozen river, but it was thawing out, chunks of ice floating down the river as the water was flowing, the waterfall still frozen, but they could tell it won't be frozen for long.
"Well this sure ain't safe." Applejack said.
"Nonetheless, we need to cross now." Spyro said.
"You're joking, right?" Susan asked.
"Can't beavers make dams?" Lucy asked.
"I'm not that quick." Beaver replied.
"Well, what about you Spyro?" Susan asked. "You have any magic that can make a bridge?"
"I do." Spyro replied. "But then the witch and her flunkies will know where we went. Going across the ice is the smarter decision."
"Wait, can't we just think a minute." Susan said.
"We don't have a minute." Peter replied.
"Just trying to be realistic." Susan said.
"No, you're just trying to be smart." Peter retorted. "As usual."
They then heard the howling of the wolves, knowing that the Queen couldn't be far behind, so with little choice, they rushed down the side of the ledge and reached the ice, seeing it was cracking and breaking apart quickly, but Peter tried to walk on it first, but it started to break under his weight, makign him back away.
"Hold on." Beaver said. "Maybe I should go first."
Peter looked at Beaver and nodded, the large rodent moving across the ice, testing the bridge as they went, everyone moving together while the Pegasi flew above, keeping an eye on everyone else as they went along the bridge. However, a moment later, some ice fell and Spyro thought it was the waterfall about to give, getting ready to use his powers to stop the water when he spotted the wolves as did Lucy.
"Oh no!" Lucy shouted, everyone looking up to see them.
"Run!" Peter shouted.
They all ran as far as they could across the bridge to get ahead of the wolves, but they got in their way, blocking their path as the rest of the pack arrived, Spyro calling his blade as did Applejack, getting ready to fight the wolves in the back while Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash got their blades, ready for the ones in front as one wolf pinned beaver as Peter drew his sword out.
"Put that down boy." Maugrim said, approaching them. "Someone might get hurt."
"Don't worry about me!" Beaver shouted, trying to free himself. "Run him through!"
"Leave now while you can kid." Maugrim said. "And your brother leaves with you."
"Peter, stop, maybe we should listen to him." Susan said.
"Hm, smart girl." Maugrim said.
"Peter, no!" Spyto said, seeing the wolves approach, so he unleashed a storm of lightning to the ice, causing it to explode and cut off the other wolves while he looked back. "That blade is the only thing between you and certain death! You drop the blade, that wolf is going to kill you!"
"Look, this isn't your war." Maugrim said. "My queen only wants you and your family to leave."
"Look, just because a man in a red coat gives you a sword, it doesn't make you a hero!" Susan shouted, trying to tell her brother what to do. "Just drop it!"
"No Peter, don't!" Beaver shouted. "Narnia needs you!"
"Beavers right!" Spyro said, getting in front. "Besides, it became our war when the Heartless got involved!"
"Heh, Maleficent said you'd probably stay." Maugrim said. "After all, Keyblades are extremely powerful weapons the Heartless fear. But not even you are invincible." Spyro was getting ready to attack when the ice underneath him cracked, looking down and trailing the ice to the wall, seeing it was about to give. "So, Son of Adam, I won't wait forever. And neither will the river."
Lucy looked to the wall of ice, noticing it was about to give as did Peter and Susan, seeing the ice was falling apart, giving him an idea.
"You're right." Spyro said, surprising the wolf. "The river won't wait. Peter, plunge your sword into the ice!"
"Hold onto me!" Peter said, plunging the sword down.
Lucy and Susan grabbed hold of their brother while Spyro sent a wave of Force energy into the wall, causing it to have many more cracks in it as the wolf looked up, seeing what he was doing as the wall gave way, sending a wave of water towards them as the pegasi flew away while Spyro grabbed Applejack, the water washing over them all, forcing everyone still on the ice underneath the water, nothing popping up for a minute and worrying both Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash until they spotted the sword Peter was holding, the three of them still alright while Spyro popped up, on another iceberg while holding onto Applejack as they rode the river down stream, the water turning out to be treacherous as they rode along. As they continued, Lucy slipped out of her coat and out of Peter's grasp, which Spyro noticed and dove in, letting Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy take Applejack to safety as he dove deeper into the water, seeing the girl swimming up and arriving in time to help her up, popping their heads out of the water and swimming to the shore. Lucy coughed a bit, getting the water out of her lungs as Spyro helped her out of the water, the girl shivering as he knelt down to her.
"You ok Lucy?" Spyro asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine." Lucy replied, looking to him. "Thank you."
"No problem Lucy." Spyro said, syanding up and looking around.
He then spotted their friends getting out of the water, Applejack shaking the water off while shivering a bit while the siblings got out, but when they noticed Lucy wasn't there, they freaked out, Susan looking for her.
"Lucy!" Susan shouted, looking to the water. "Lucy!"
They worried for the girl, trying to find her as they believed the water had taken her, fearing the worse.
"Has anyone seen my coat?" Lucy asked.
They looked in her direction and saw Lucy approaching with Spyro right behind her, the girl trying to keep warm as she approached. When they arrived, Peter put the coat back on her, hugging her as he was relieved she was ok as Spyro walked over to Applejack, seeing she was alright as he picked her up, warming himself up to warm her up as she smiled, placing her head on his shoulder as he placed his head on her, hugging her.
"Don't worry dear." Beaver said. "You're brother's got ya well looked after."
"And I don't think you'll be needing those coats anymore." The other beaver said.
They looked to see what she meant by that, seeing that some of the trees were blooming, shoing the way they need to go as the frost melted, waking up the trees as they made their way to Aslans camp, leaving their wet coats behind to dry off as they continued on their way. With the witch and Maleficent, they reached the river that they group tried to cross, finding it was fully thawed out and made it impossible to cross.
"It's so... warm out." The dwarf said, trying to take his coat off, but Jadis looked at him, giving him a murderous look, warning him against it. "I'll go check on the sleigh."
He then rushed off to avoid his mistresses wrath, Edmond smiling until the wolves returned with the fox that helped Spyro and his friends to avoid the wolves.
"You majesty." Maugrim said. "We found the traitor! He was rallying your enemies in the Shivering woods."
They tossed the fox to the ground, making him yelp in pain as he got up.
"Ah, nice of you to drop in." Jadis said, approaching him. "You were so helpful to my wolves last night. Maybe you can help us now."
"Forgive me, your majesty." The fox said.
"Oh please, we have no time for flattery." Jadis said.
"Not to be rude, but I wasn't talking to you." The fox said.
He then looked to Edmund, Jadis looking at him as Maleficent just smirked, pleased to see that her ally was being disrespected as jadis pointed her wand at the fox, ready to end him.
"Where are the humans headed?" Jadis asked.
The Fox didn't answer, refusing to give up Aslans location as Jadis raised her wand to finish the fox off when a Heartless zipped by, communicating with maleficent and telling her something before approaching.
"We don't need the fox." Maleficent said. "My heartless have located them." She then turned to Edmund, looking at the boy as he seemed worried. "Is your family heading to the stone table?"
Edmund looked at Maleficent, looking to the fox as he wanted to keep quiet, but wanted to save him, not having any choice.
"Yes, they are." Edmund replied. "I didn't hear exactly where, but I think they're heading to the stone table."
Jadis smiled, lowering her wand while the fox looked at Edmund in disappointment, now the secret camp that Aslan had built was in jeapordy.
"Thank you Edmund." Jadis said, looking pleased. "It's nice for this fox to see some honesty. Before he died." Jadis thrusted the wand into the fox, turning him to stone as Edmund watched in horror, seeing what the wond could do as she looked at him. "Be sure to think hard about whose side you're on. Mine... or theirs." She then approached her wolves, Edmund looking to the stone fox and realizing that he made a mistake joining her, regretting it as he looked to her. "Go on ahead. Gather the fauthful. If it's a war Aslan want's, it's a war he shall get."
In the mountain ranges, the group was approaching a fairly large camp, a horn sounding to announce their approach, Centaurs, Faun, cheetahs, bears, and many mre mystical creatures and animals looking to them and all of them were mystified, smiling as they saw them and following behind them as they went to see Aslan, some whispering while others were just stunned, starring that them.
"Why are they starring at us like that?" Susan asked.
"Maybe they think you look funny." Spyro said, Rainbow Dash snickering as they continued ahead.
As they were walking, the female beaver was fidgeting about how she looked, making her coat as good as she can get it to be before approaching the main tent, larger than the rest with a single Centaur guarding the tent, looking at them as they stopped. A moment later, Peter drew his blade and presented it to the centaur, getting their attention as he wished to be heard.
"We've come to see Aslan." Peter said.
This caused many in the crowd to murmur, amazed that they knew Aslan's name and then started to bow, everyone kneeling or bowing to them, which they all looked back before looking to the tent, a lion coming out to greet them as he walked over to a small ledge, looking at them all as they each knelt, including Spyro, which the ponies followed suit to show respect.
"Welcome Peter, Son of Adam." Aslan said. "Welcome Susan and Lucy, Daughters of Eve. Welcome Spyro, Prince of Light and Darkness. And a welcome to you too, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, and Fluttershy."
"You know our names?" Rainbow Dash asked.
"Of course I know your names." Aslan said, smiling. "And I got a good description of each of you from your little friends here."
A second later. Scootaloo and Babs Seed walked out from behind them, Spyro looking up and seeing the fillies, happy to see they were safe.
"Scoots." Spyro said, getting up.
"Spyro!" Scootaloo said.
The filly ran up and jumped, Spyro catching her and hugging her, glad to see she was safe as Babs walked up.
"Spyro?" Babs asked. "Is that really you?"
"It is Babs." Spyro said, kneeling down. "I'll explain later."
"Tell me, where is the fourth?" Aslan asked. "Where is your brother?"
"That's why we're here sir." Peter replied, sheathing his blade. "We need your help."
"We had some trouble on the way." Susan said.
"Edmund was captured." Peter said, causing a murmur.
"Captured?" Rainbow Dash asked. "More like he betrayed us and went over to the witch's side."
"Rainbow Dash." Spyro said, trying to stop her.
"Then he's betrayed us all!" The centaur said.
"Peace Oreius." Aslan said. "There must be an explination."
The three siblings looked guilty, knowing exactly why he betrayed them, Spyro sensing their guilt as he looked at them.
"It's my fault sir." Peter said. "I was too hard on him."
"We all were." Susan said.
"Is there a way to save him?" Lucy asked. "He's our brother."
"Which only makes the betrayal that more painful." Aslan said. "It maybe more difficult than you think."
Aslan then walked away, motioning for Peter to follow as the two sisters went to get cleaned up, Spyro turning to the ponies.
"Go with them girl." Spyro said. "You deserve some rest after the journey we've had."
The ponies nodded and went with the sisters, the fillies included, though Babs was still in disbelief that Spyro was human, looking at him as they walked away as he went with Peter. They got changed into some drier clothing, though Spyro dried himself off as they looked at the castle in the distance as Aslan approached.
"That is Care Paravel." Aslan said. "Castle of the four thrones. One in which you will sit upon Peter as high King." Aslan looked at the boy, seeing the doubt in his eyes. "You doubt the prophecy?"
"No." Peter said. "That's just it. Aslan... I'm not who you think I am."
"Peter, you doubt your own abilities." Spyro replied, looking at him. "Doubt leads to fear, fear leads to failure. With the Heartless here, we are needed here more than ever. We can;t let doubt and fear rule us."
"The prince is right Peter." Aslan said. "There is a deep power that rules all over Narnia. It determines right from wrong and governs all our destinies. Yours... and mine."
"But I couldn't keep my family safe." Peter said.
"You brought them this far Peter." Spyro said, patting him on the shoulder.
"Not all of them." Peter said.
"Don't worry Peter, we'll save Ed." Spyro said, looking out to the camp.
"Like you, I too want my family safe." Aslan said, looking over all of the Narnians that were before them and more that were coming after hearing of their arrival. "And I will do everything I can to save your brother."
They looked back out to the camp, Peter still having doubts about himself While Spyro was more than ready for a fight, wanting to put the witch in her place for what she did and for dealing with the Heartless. At a nearby river, the girls were finished changing as Applejack got washed up after her dip in the cold water, shaking off the water as they looked over to Lucy and Susan.
"I look just like mum." Lucy said.
"Mum hasn't had a dress since the war started." Susan said.
"Hey, maybe ya'll can take her back some." Applejack said. "Sorta a present for her."
"Hey, thats a great idea!" Lucy said. "We can bring her back a whole trunk full!"
"If we ever get back." Susan said.
"Ah that's just Stinkin' thinkin'." Applejack replied. "Ya'll get home. Ya just gotta believe in yerselves."
"Yeah, like we do!" Rainbow Dash said. "Spyro saw the best in us and helped us when we needed it and now look where we are! We go on amazing adventures, have lots of fun, heck, we even got the best coltfriend and herd leader we could ask for!"
Susan looked at Lucy, seeing her smile at Rainbow Dash as she smiled, lightening up.
"Sorry that I'm like that Lucy." Susan said, Lucy looking at her. "We use to have a lot of fun together when we were younger."
"Yeah, before you got boring." Lucy replied.
"Oh really?" Susan asked.
She the splashed her sister, whcih she splashed Applejack by mistake as she looked at Susan with a glare, Rainbow Dash laughing as she overed in the air.
"What are ya laughin' at lollipop?" Applejack asked.
She grabbed Rainbow Dash's tail, pulling her into the water and making her splash, laughing at her friend before the rainbow Pegasi retaliated, splashing Applejack as they all laughed, habing some fun as they got out to get the towels and dry off. However, when they got the towels, Maugrim surprised them, making them scream as Babs and Scootaloo hid behind the ponies.
"Please don't run." Maugrim said. "We're tired, and we'd prefer to kill you quickly."
Another wolf came up from behind, the girls all looking at the wolves as Susan looked to her horn, throwing the towel to the wolves and rushing over to it to get help, blowing into the horn and getting the entire camps attention, Spyro and Peter running there the fastest as everyone was up in the tree, the wolves trying to egt them as the pair arrived, Peter drawing his sword as Spyro called his Keyblade, ready to protect the ponies and the siblings.
"Get back!:" Peter shouted, he and Spyro standing back to back as Peter held the blade in both hands while Spyro held his with one, ready for the wolves to make the first move.
"Come on!" Maugrim shouted, he and the other wolf circling the pair. "We've already been through this. We both know you don't have it in you."
The two wolves growled at them, continuing to circle them as Spyro kept his eye on the first wolf, seeing it was getting ready to pounce, but Aslan came in and pinned the wolf, reinforcements arriving to help, but Aslan stopped them.
"No, stay your weapons." Aslan said. "This is Peters fight."
They all looked to Peter who looked nervous as he starred down the wolf that was snarling at him, looking angry as he got ready to fight.
"You may think you're a king, but you're ging to die, LIKE A DOG!" Maugrim shouted.
He then pounced towards Peter, aiming for the throat, covering Peter as the girls screamed for their brother.
"PETER!" Lucy and Susan screamed.
Everyone in the trees hopped down, rushing over to the collapsed wolf and their brother, helping to push the wolf off their brother and saw he was uninjured, relieved to see he was alright as Aslan released the other wolf, which it whimpered and ran away.
"Follow him." Alsan said, looking to the others. "He'll lead you to Edmund."
"Count me in." Spyro said. "I wanna leave a little surprise for the witch."
The small army with Spyro ran after the wolf towards the witches camp to rescue Edmund from the witch and bring him back to his family while the others remained behind.
"Peter." Aslan said. "Clean up your sword." Peter did so, cleaning the sword and knelt down before Aslan, which he placed his paw on his shoulder, his way of knighting him as he smiled. "Arise, Sir Peter Wolfsbane, Knight of Narnia."
Everyone smiled for the young man, his siblings looking proud of him as he looked at them, looking back at Aslan and smiling, sheathing his blade. With Spyro and the rescue squad, they followed the wolf all the way to the witches camp, which it was full of minotaurs, dwarves, cyclops's, and all sorts of other creatures that he didn't recognize and without waiting, they went in and ambushed the whole camp, finding Edmund tied up and gaged to a tree with the dwarf whose been tormenting him with a knife to him, Oreius pointing his sword at the dwarf as Spyro approached, smiling at the dwarf.
"Put that thing down little man." Spyro said, drawing his Lightsaber. "Someone might get hurt." he then ignited the blade, catching the dwarf off guard as a Minotaur came running up, but Spyro just slashed through his weapon, cutting it in two while leaving a large gash ont he minotaur, dropping it with a single slice and making the dwarf stand up, dropping the knife as he walked over to the tied up kid and freed him, getting the gag out of his mouth and helping him up. "You alright kid?"
"Yeah, I'm ok." Edmund replied. "Thanks."
"No problem." Spyro replied.
"We need to leave before the witch comes." Oreius said.
"Then let us be off." Spyro said, looking to the dwarf. "But not before leaving a message for the witch."
A little later, Jadis came out of her tent with Maleficent and her captain, approaching the tree that had the dwarf tied up and his own knife holding his hat up and as they got closer, they spotted Spyro standing there with his back to them.
"Spyro." Maleficent said.
"So, you must be the witch that everyone's been talking about." Spyro said, turning to face them. "I must say, you're little army wasn't all that tough."
"And you're everything Maleficent said you'd be." Jadis said, approaching him. "An annoyance that must be dealt with."
Jadis thrusted her wand to him, but it just passed through him, making Spyro flicker for a moment before resuming, confusing the witch.
"A shame I couldn't be there when you saw the carnage done to your camp." Spyro said. "I would have loved to have seen the look on your face."
"A hologram." Maleficent said. "Of course he'd leave one behind."
"If you're seeing this, then you already know we have liberated Edmund and I gotta say, you'd make a terrible mother." Spyro continued. "Still, guess that's what happens when you've been banished for all this time. For all your power, you couldn't hold onto one boy for more than a day. Dealing with you will be cake. If you want war, then you're going to have one heck of a fight on your hands. And I... I'm gonna be whistling all throughout the battle."
The hologram deactivated as Jadis looked to the dwarf, seeing how scared he was as she approached, taking the knife off his hat and using it to cut him free, making him fall tot he ground as he removed the gag.
"Y-you're not going to kill me?" The dwarf asked, looking at Jadis terrified.
"Not yet." Jadis replied, turning to her general and Maleficent. "We have work to do."
A while later, Peter and his siblings returned from getting cleaned up while the ponies were outside, talking with the fillies and scolding them for going in Spyro's garage at night, but relieved they were ok when they all saw Oreius had returned, everyone looking at him when he looked up, revealing that Aslan and Spyro were talking to Edmund, relieved that he was back, but when Lucy tried to run up, Susan stopped her as they walked down towards his family, stopping in front of them.
"What's done is done." Aslan said. "There is no need to speak to Edmund about what has happeend."
Aslan then walked off and left them all alone, Lucy and Susan walking up and hugging their brother while Peter just looked at his brother, relieved that he was back.
"You alright Ed?" Susan asked.
"Just a little tired." Edmund replied.
"After what you've been through, you need the rest." Spyro said.
"Get some rest." Peter said. Edmund then walked to the tent reserved for them, looking guilty as he knew he did wrong and knew he wouldn't be forgiven. "And Ed..." Edmund looked back at Peter, seeing his brother smile at him. "Try not to wonder off again, alright?"
Edmund smiled at his brother, walking away to the tent to get some rest, leaving everyone else outside while he rested.
"Now that the four are together again, it's time we discussed how to fight the witch." Spyro said, getting their attention. "I felt a familiar prescence while in the camp."
"Maleficent?" Applejack asked.
"Afraid so." Spyro replied. "With the power of two witches fighting together, this battle will be difficult, but not impossible." He then looked ot Peter, seeing his still holding his sword and remembering what happened back at the river. "Peter." The boy then looked at Spyro, wondering what he wanted. "You may have done well against the wolf, but your sword play is sloppy."
"I never held a sword before." Peter replied.
"Maybe, but you and Ed are going to need to work on your swordsman skills if you're going to have a chance." Spyro replied, looking to the tent that Edmund went into. "Once your brother is done resting, we'll get something to eat and go from there. For now, we all should rest. We got a long day ahead of us."
Spyro walked away, going towards Aslan to talk to him while leaving everyone else behind, the three humans looking at one another while the ponies just watched Spyro, seeing him stand next to Aslan and wondering what it was he was talking to him about.
"You really think they have a chance?" Spyro asked.
"Now that the four are together, victory is assured." Aslan replied, looking at him. "You seem troubled. You do not believe they will win?"
"I'm more worried about my herd." Spyro replied, looking back and seeing the fillies play while the others watched, making sure thye were safe. "And about my sister and her friend. We came here just to get them home, get them to safety, but the portal is closed and my ship hasn't arrived yet. I fear that if we loose, they will suffer."
"You have cause for concern my friend." Aslan said. "But your own fear blinds you to the fact that they are not at all defenseless. You saw to that by teaching them to fight and giving them the tools they need to keep themselves safe." Aslan looked up at Spyro, smiling at him. "Your friends will be a big help for the battle ahead. As for your sister and her friend, they'll be safe. I promise."
Spyro looked at Aslan, unsure of if the fillies will be safe, but he looked out to the camp, seeing the army grow as more and more rallied to them, knowing that the war for Narnia would soon begin and knew that it wouldn't be pretty.
