It's All In Your Head
Chapter 59: Warm
--
Sasuke got up early the next morning to make Naruto breakfast, not ramen, hoping that it would put him in a better mood. It still irritated him that he doubted his loyalty, that he assumed the worst of him, but he couldn't completely blame him. He had caused a lot of pain for Naruto, something he would have to live with. He wanted to push those mistakes behind him, to erase them from Naruto's thoughts, but it didn't look like that would be happening anytime soon.
He watched the coffee brew, focusing on the sputtering sounds in place of his heavy thoughts. When it had finally silenced, Sasuke pulled down two mugs and filled them with matching murky wake-up calls. He filled Naruto's with cream and sugar the way he liked and took a sip from his own- preferring his dark and bitter, a reflection of his mood. He was just about to bring Naruto his when the blonde stumbled into the kitchen, enticed by the smell of coffee permeating throughout the house. He had a pair of Sasuke's sweatpants on and nothing else, which was suddenly all he could think about.
Sasuke's eyes slid up the blonde's toned stomach and freckled chest to his mused hair, drinking in the sight of him. He was intensely attracted to all of it but decided to keep the thought to himself.
Naruto wandered over, one eye still closed as he wordlessly held out a hand. Sasuke smiled and handed him his cup of coffee. He leaned against the counter, watching him drink deeply from it.
"Mmmnn.." Tastes good.
I know what you like.
Naruto glanced over at the raven. He could easily read between the lines, and he didn't know what to say to that. He had meant to keep his thoughts about it to himself, but one slipped out before he could stop it. If anyone does, it's you.
The sentiment made Sasuke feel oddly relieved. Jealousy was a pretty new feeling for him, but he's felt a lot of it lately. With Naruto's relationship with Kakashi, his closeness with the friends he made while he was gone. He didn't like the idea of being replaced, of suddenly being less important to him. The notion that he was still the person who knew him best was reassuring.
I like being that person for you, he thought back.
Naruto dropped his gaze. His chest felt warm, but he wasn't sure if that was because of Sasuke or the coffee. "I know" he said quietly.
An awkward silence hung between them until Naruto, uncomfortable with letting it continue, finally broke it. "So.. what should we do today?"
Sasuke looked down at the chakra-blocking band around his ankle. "Wish I didn't have this. It'd be fun sparring with you."
Naruto's eyes lit up at that. "We can still spar!"
"Can I at least get a few kunai?"
Naruto shrugged. "I don't see why not. It's not like you're going to stab me."
"Not with a kunai, at least."
The blonde choked on his coffee. "Really, Sasuke? A dick joke?"
If anyone can appreciate it, it's you.
Naruto shook his head. "You're ridiculous."
Sasuke walked over and planted a kiss on his blonde's cheek. "Come on, dobe. I'm almost done making breakfast."
"Is it ramen?"
"It will never be ramen."
Naruto sighed, but let the raven pull him to the table and push him down onto a chair. "Don't you want to please your boyfriend?" he quipped.
Sasuke lightly grasped his chin and lifted it so their eyes could meet. "More than anything" he breathed.
Naruto blushed and quickly averted his gaze from the intensity in Sasuke's.
"Finish making breakfast" he muttered, pushing him back, "and stop being weird."
You're the one who makes me weird, darling.
"That, Sasuke. That is what I'm talking about."
The raven glanced over his shoulder. "I can't call you darling?"
"I don't know.. it's just-"
"Weird. Yes, I heard you."
Well.. then what pet name should I call you?
Babe, lover, boyfriend material, desirable man meat- whatever you want.
Naruto barked a laugh. "Desirable man meat?"
"Yes, darling?"
Naruto laughed again, and suddenly the space between them seemed a little shorter, the room a little warmer, and a certain raven a little less afraid. His important person wasn't slipping further away. If anything, this was the start of something even better than what they had before- stronger, more resilient.
The start of something that would last.
--
"You wouldn't have lasted this long if I had access to my chakra- you know that, right?"
"Shut up, teme."
Naruto wiped sweat from his brow and narrowed his eyes on the cocky raven across the courtyard. Kunai littered the ground between them and the last of Naruto's shadow clones popped out of existence. "Do you get off on stabbing my face a hundred times?"
Sasuke gave an impish grin. "You know what gets me off."
Naruto shook his head. "You are something else."
"You like it."
Sasuke rushed towards him, his arm blocking his face as he spun the kunai in his hand, preparing to use it. Naruto ran to meet him halfway and their weapons clashed.
"You shouldn't underestimate, Sasuke." Naruto flashed out of sight and reappeared behind the raven. "It might not end well for you if you do."
Sasuke leaned back against the blonde, tilting his head to get a look at him. "Is that a threat, darling?"
Naruto went to punch him, and Sasuke ducked out of reach- though it was a close call. He leapt away, putting more space between them. It didn't matter. Naruto suddenly appeared in front of him and sent him flying back. Sasuke slammed into a tree and dropped heavily to the ground.
Dammit.
Naruto took a knee in front of him, a victorious smirk lighting up his face. "Is that all you've got, Sasuke?"
Something wicked flashed in his eyes, making the blonde's amusement falter.
You know it's not.
Sasuke leapt forward, knocking him to the ground. Before Naruto could perform any kind of jutsu, Sasuke grabbed his wrists and forced them above his head, pinning them to the ground with one powerful hand. Naruto looked up at his bound wrists then back at the raven hovering over him.
Don't even think about it, teme.
What am I supposed to not think about?
Naruto tried to yank his arms free, but Sasuke's hand didn't give at all. With his free one, he lifted the blonde's chin and kissed him.
At first Naruto was unresponsive, but he warmed up to him pretty quickly and kissed him back. Sasuke tilted his head, deepening the kiss as he lowered his body on his blonde's. He half-expected him to shut him out and was pleasantly surprised when he didn't. Their tongues met, grappling for control until their heads were dizzy from the heat of it. Sasuke eventually pulled back and they gasped for air. He looked down into Naruto's half-lidded gaze and felt the heat of their kiss move down to his groin.
God, you're sexy.
Those cloudy cerulean eyes cleared fast. Do you ever think about anything else? he asked as Sasuke's want hardened against him.
"No."
Naruto laughed despite himself. I knew that about you.
Sasuke rubbed his length against his blonde. "What gave it away?" He gave him another seering kiss before finally releasing him. He stood up, not in the least bit embarrassed of his straining erection, and hefted Naruto to his feet.
What's it like being so goddamn confident?
Terrible.
Another laugh, another pleased Uchiha smile.
I doubt that.
The two walked back into the house and into the kitchen to rehydrate. "How long do you think I'll be stuck here?"
Naruto's smile fell. House arrest for Sasuke was still the better option since the alternative was jail time, but he understood his restlessness. He felt the same way. "I don't know" he admitted. "Hopefully not long."
Sasuke ruffled his blonde mane. "When we get out of here, I'll treat you to Ichiraku."
"You'll buy me ramen?!"
Sasuke nodded. "It's the least I could do for keeping me.. entertained." He winked.
"I'm not whoring out for ramen, perv."
"I'll buy you as many bowls as you want."
".. I'll consider it."
Sasuke grinned, then looked down at his damp shirt and flushed blonde. "We should shower."
Naruto dropped down on a chair and propped his feet up with a sigh. "You go first."
"Let's save water and go together" he suggested.
Naruto raised an eyebrow, and the Uchiha shrugged. "Can't blame a guy for trying."
He moved towards the hall and heard Naruto following after him. He looked back, surprised.
"I'll.. repay you for yesterday" he murmured.
Sasuke's surprise doubled as an image filled his mind. He watched as he dragged his tongue up Naruto's length, as his panting blonde moaned his name. Naruto pushed back his hair as he shoved his mouth down, taking in all of him.
His eyes shot over to the blonde as the image cleared. Really?
Don't make me change my mind, teme.
Sasuke ran over, grabbed his blushing blonde, and threw him over his shoulder.
"Sasuke! What the hell are you doing!?"
The Uchiha carried him down the hall and into the bathroom, a smile pulling at his face and lighting up his eyes.
"Making sure you don't change your mind."
