16. A new home.

I commented: "I am glad they liked my present but didn't you tell me your and their shift is about to start?"

Groaning they woke up when Lydia shook them awake: "Lydia, that man of yours gave us a bottle of blue alcohol… it tasted sooo good, but it made my head hurt as if someone hit it with a mallet."

I grinned: "Put some clothes on and I will heal the hangover."

Both froze on the spot… looked at their body, spotted their missing clothes on the floor, and ran screaming into their rooms.

Lydia chuckled: "That was a bit mean but funny of you Lord Seiji."

The Kitsune yelled from her room: "It was mean and NOT funny Lydia! He saw us naked!"

I defended myself: "I did not! You still had your panties and socks on! And you have nothing to be ashamed of, both of you are very pretty." I had a good look at their tails though, surprisingly it was not as with humans at the tailbone, it started higher at the rim of their panties. I'll bet Yurie wants to see the video... I let her see the video, she will go nuts about it.

All dressed up they came out of the room: "Here, with this [Heal], the headache is gone, but drink plenty of water or it will come back."

I smiled at them: "Next weekend is a special event in the city of my world. To make up for this, you both are invited to come along with Lydia. To prepare for it, each evening I will come here and teach Lydia and both of you about Air and [Wind Magic]. That way you can get [Wind Magic] and can use [Magic Stones]."

The Neko, her name is Kacha, gasped: "You can teach us [Wind Magic]? I saved months to pay for the Temple, but I did not get it."

The Kitsune, Inari is her name, said: "I did not get it either, are you certain you can teach us [Wind Magic]?"

I one armed hugged Lydia and said: "In four weeks Lydia will learn Wind, Water, Earth, and Fire Magic. Even the difficult magics are possible."

Kacha got in front of me: "Can you teach us too? We will do anything to learn Magic. It is important for beast folk to have magic, it gives us status. We went to this country for a chance to learn magic here, but we did not get it at all."

Inari added: "We are considered the lowest class of our people, just above slaves, for getting Magic we will do anything."

Wow, that is an open invitation to get abused. Lydia said: "After work, I'll talk to Princess Elena."

When the girls left, I ported home and took Elena, and Lela to the Army, Lela went to the Nobles, while Elena healed the soldiers, I did the same at the Demons with Mai, Yurie, and Hilda. While healing, I am lecturing Mai and Yurie about [Restoration Magic] comparing it with modern healing science.

"Learn about the human body up to a cellular level, knowing the organs isn't enough, the functions of the cells, blood, and other body fluids are important too. Both of you already know enough to get Level 1, but a few evenings of study will get it to 3 or 4. The bodies of Demons are not that different from ours, I heal the parts I know, the rest will heal naturally. See? Easy Peasy."

The Former Demon Lord approached us with an old Dwarf in tow: (Lord Seiji, I brought our Master Smith Masamune, so he can do maintenance on your Katana.) And he can see the Katana for himself.

I presented the katana without unsheathing it to Masamune: (Master Masamune, are you the granduncle of Master Gamudo from Nippo Town? He told me that his granduncle taught him all he knows.)

"Ah? Is that lad still with the humans? I have to visit him sometimes. I must say young man this Sword is of very high quality and is made without one speck of Magic. I assume it was made in your world?"

I nodded: "Master left it to me when he died a few years back. I am only allowed to draw it to defend my loved ones and country."

Former Demon Lord said: (Just as I said Masamune, the boy will marry my little Mai, he will need a[Magic Sword], I will cover the cost for it.)

Crap! That will start that [Sword of Trial] Quest! Sure enough, Masamune grinned and said: "I have just the right thing, come lad, it is in my workshop. He dragged me along into his workplace to the backyard.

On the human side, Elena saved the most critical cases, after arriving, I helped heal, again lecturing Mai and Yurie. The Healers came closer and listened to my explanations, some saw the light and advanced a level, putting the newly learned knowledge into action.

Some Nobles approached me to buy the Elixir for their soldiers, they were told of my statement and took this opportunity to brown nose.

I sold my stock of [Elixir], of the two thousand wounded, only about fifty had missing limbs. Twenty Elixirs found their soldiers. I have to buy ingredients for the next batch, 150 Aurums for an elixir doesn't even cover the cost of the ingredients, but I wanted the army to see us in action. We could have killed the Goblins ourselves, Elena and Lela need the support of the army, so killing the Goblin King in front of them made it happen.

Lela is having a blast bossing the Nobles around, with the support of Elena and the Army, the Nobles knew they had to pipe down. Lela pushed some reforms through, like keeping the Tournament, but the winner gets to access the Temple for free. Others can just pay and get the [Body Reinforcement Magic].

She explained: "Without Hero Seiji and his Party, you would have suffered a defeat. How many are strong enough to kill a Goblin General? A Prince? 10 Princes and fifty Generals would have plowed through our troops without trouble."

Preventing Adventures and commoners access to the Temple made them weak, just because you yourself are too lazy to train your abilities."

She pointed out: "We had to ask nicely to Hero Seiji to help us out. The king and my father did not make it easy for him to like this country, nor did your behavior. Now that the Goblins are defeated, the next opponents are the Devil tribe. They are tricky and deceitful.

I saved Lela from those donkeys, we had lunch and we left for the Tower of Sunrise, we needed a bit of fun. I ported us to the 16th floor, where we left off last time at a mountain ridge with a bunch of Will-O-wisps. It is hot here so the girls changed into their Bikini armor, I let them do the killing, I was too distracted by the eye candy. The girls rushed through the level, although they struck poses to accentuate their best assets.

The 17th floor was easy for the girls, [Dark Thundercloud], a lot of them surrounded us.

"Hilda, this floor is yours, take your [Fire Whip] out. Those clouds could not handle Hilda's [Fire Whip] and left some good experience. They did not drop stones though.

Floor 18 killed my fun, bloody snowmen… snow kids. I rushed through them with a vengeance, my girls covered with ski suits did not activate my triggers.

The 19th floor provided a Thunderbird, my shield could block the lightning, Lela got him with [Light Shot].

The drop? A bloody Biribiri stone.

The 20th floor had a surprise, floating islands, connected with each other by… Rainbow bridges?

Again, only one monster on this floor, a Light Bird], it attacked us with the sun in his back and shining like the sun, it was a bitch to kill, but the drop is interesting:

When we reached the 21st floor it became hot, unbearable hot. We took the hint and called it a day and went to the Capital for dinner with the kids from the church and Aria.

Minya expanded her food stall, and the two oldest kids, Mica and Areon, were selling meat skewers and doing good business.

The skewers are cheap, I demonstrated to the kids how to make the meat tender and different marinade methods for different flavors. So they buy tough meat at a low price and transform them into yummy food. Not bad for eight-year-olds. If you complain about child labor, choosing between being hungry without a job or having a job and food… do the math.

"Mica and Areon are doing great Aria, their food tastes excellent."

"All thanks to you Lord Seiji, if it wasn't for my Vows, I would have kissed you." Damn, road-blocked by Vows.

I shrugged: "I'll pretend I received that kiss, Sister Aria, seeing those children happy is reward enough. But tell me, what is the difference between the Temples and the Church?"

Aria explained: "The Temples are solely for the [Magic Crystals] and to manage access to it. The Church is a place of worship people can visit to pray to the Gods. Each Town has a Church, and each village a Chapel."

"So you survive on donations to take care of those orphans? What does the government do for the orphans? There must be a plan to support them? This is a dangerous world and the outdoors are dangerous."

Aria smiled warily: "If they don't have relatives, they are brought to the church and the community has to support them with donations. I am grateful for your donations and the teaching of the children."

Mai, Aya, and Yurie played with the children while Lela and Elena discussed the orphan situation. Aria got another 5000 Aurums when we left for home.

That night, I discussed Lydia's housemates after I projected our conversation: "I think we can use them to get good relations with the Beast Nation. You heard them, having many different Magics raises their status with their people. If I teach them five or six different Magic Skills, they would be considered Royalty."

Aya grumbled: "And you want to play with them."

Yurie hugged Aya: "So do you Aya, admit it! Kitsune! They are legendary! Nekomata too! Elena and Lela, in this world we only have legends and fairy tales about them, seeing them for real is very special for us. Just like the Magic Powers. The technology of our world is special for you too isn't it?"

Lela answered: "I never looked at it that way, Beast folks have been a part of our nation for centuries, so we don't see them as special. Raising their status up to Royalty can be useful in the future. I am for it."

Elena explained it further: "Their status is showed by their appearance, with Kitsune it is by the number of tails, Nekomata changes from a simple cat to a white tiger. There are nine phases to go through."

I thought about it: "So… there are eight big Towns with Temples, the North, South, East, and West have Elementary Magic, the towns in between have supportive Magics, like Healing and Body Reinforcement. If we can make Inari a Nine Tail Fox and Kacha a Royal White Tiger, we will have powerful allies."

Elena nodded: "I approve, tomorrow is Lydia's day off, talk it over with her and add them to the [Hero Party]. Hilda is asleep, soooo we have a couple of hours, you girls still have school this week, the Golden Week starts next Friday. What else?"

Lela sighed: "I have to move the Army home and have to remain there at night too. I want to be there when you visit the new apartments though."

Mai agreed: "Make appointments in the late afternoon Seiji, so we can all be there. Remember, you have to visit my family this week and we have to meet your parents too."

That made the girls lose their smiles… meeting the in-laws is kind of scary.

"Enough talk, girls, get naked." Two hours later I took Mai, Yurie, and Lela home.

The next morning I found out we won 950 million with the Lotto 7, approximately 6.5 million dollars or euros… I find the numbers in Yen more impressive. Aya did a victory dance while calculating how much she could spend before I stopped her… which is right now.

"Aya! I forbid you to buy, order, or even talk to someone who won the Lotto 7! Discussing it with Mai and Yurie has to be done in whispers. No phone or texts about it either. If you draw attention to us, our lives will be miserable, trips to the other world will be impossible. Do you understand? Not one word."

Aya pouted: "But Seiji, we won! 950 Million!"

"Yes, 300 of them are for mum and dad. Those two apartments you liked so much cost each more than 100, so almost half of it is already gone. How much did you plan on spending for yourself? 100? 200? don't forget maintenance and taxes. Before you know it all the money will be gone, little sis."

"Spoilsport. When are you going to claim it?"

"Right after breakfast, after lunch, I bring Lydia and her housemates here, if the [Magic Stone of Human Transformation] works on Beast folk the same as it does on Orcs."

Grumbling Aya left for college, Hilda was following the comedy show Aya put up with interest: "Brother? Are we rich now?"

"Yes Hilda, we are rich now, not very rich but enough to live without worries. We are rich in the other world too, even without counting Elena's and Lela's money."

I must admit, the people of Lotto 7 are very professional, after checking everything, they are going to deposit the money in my bank account today. I was in and out within an hour. They even guided me to a quiet exit to avoid nosy reporters. In a silent corner, I ported back home.

Back home, I called the Real Estate agencies to make appointments to see the two apartments, while Elena and Hilda were out shopping.

What else do I need to do? I contacted Lydia with our phone: "Lydia? Can you hear me? Yes, I am calling from my world. Are you free after lunch for a visit here? Good, are Kacha and Inari having a day off too? Ask if they want to come along, I think we can offer them a deal… Great, I'll pick you up in a few hours."

Those hours I filled by creating [Elixir] and storing them in my [Inventory], Elena and Hilda came back at lunchtime.

"Elena, after lunch I bring Lydia and her housemates, do I need to get Lela too for the discussion?"

"That is necessary Lord Seiji, Lela is going to be my second in command in the country, I better involve her with all major decisions. I'll contact her."

Elena and Lela gave Kacha and Inari the tour of the apartment, taking a big pause at the outside window, while I filled Lydia in on the plan. Finally, everyone settled down in the living room.

Elena started the talk: "We viewed your conversation with Lord Seiji, did you mean it when you said you do anything to get a higher Status?"

Inari nodded: "Anything Your Highness, as we said to Hero Seiji, we are counted just above slaves in our country, here it is better but not by much."

"We propose an alliance, Lord Seiji will train you in [Magic], within a year we think he can train you in five or six magics, is that enough to gain a high position in the Beast Nation?"

Kacha answered: "The current rulers have five Magic Powers getting five or six will get us the same status, the level counts for a big deal too, we are level 3 and 4, even with six new magic powers it is not enough."

Lela reassured them: "Master Seiji raised my level from 13 to 45 in a few weeks, it will not be a problem if you want to put some effort into it."

Inari asked: "What does this alliance mean for us? What are our obligations?"

Elena smiled: "A trade and military alliance between our countries, a non-aggression pact for at least three decades. Sharing new inventions, as you could see through the window just now there is room for a lot of new things."

Kacha sighed: "Your Highness, to get even one Magic Power we would devote our lives to Hero Seiji, is that answer enough?"

"Yes it is, it is still too early to know but I think we will get along fine."

"So let us start with this one, the [Mana Crystal Fragment], it will give you powers based on your profession. Lydia, you first, just hold the Crystal in your hands. The glow is part of it… Ah, you gained [Information Magic], [Trade] Level 2 Rarity *. Pass the Stone to Inari… Oh? The same as Lydia? It is at Level 1 though. Now Kacha… Hmm? The same? Also at level 1? Elena, could it be because all three work at the Merchant Guild? Aya, Mai, and Yurie got the same powers too."

Elena nodded: "It is possible, it is a good power, and they all gained Magic Power, Lydia is at 17 and the others at 13."

Everyone was studying hard, often asking me for clarification, Hilda studied Electricity, the other three Air and Wind. However, I had to explain why the world is a globe and the people underneath won't fall off.

I was preparing dinner when Aya arrived and spotted two extra humans, she shouted: "Seiji! Elena said no more than 10! not a 100!"

Lydia giggled: "Aya, these are Inari and Kacha with a [Magic Stone of Human Transformation +3]. We are studying [Wind Magic].

Dinner was fun, Aya kept firing questions about Beast folks, and answering theirs about our world.

"In an hour we'll visit the first apartment, later this evening the second one, Aya, call Mai and Yurie, I'll get Elena and Lena."

The first apartment was big, a penthouse with plenty of rooms, four big bedrooms and five guestrooms, a big kitchen, and a very big living space. The sales agent was surprised by the different kinds of girls I brought along to see the penthouse, I explained to the agent: "They are friends of us and want to select their bedroom when they are going to stay over. They are a bit eccentric but nice."

Aya commented: "Seiji, I like this one."

I argued: "You all selected two apartments, so we view the other one before deciding. I am sorry miss, it is between this one and another."

The woman smiled: "I understand sir, it would be meaningless to just take the first one you see, selecting only two is already exceptional."

The second penthouse had a better view, but the kitchen was smaller and had fewer rooms, the Master bedroom was huge though.

"Thank you for letting us view the apartment sir, we will decide tomorrow, if we don't contact you before noon then we will have chosen the other one."

"Don't worry sir, it is part of my job, we can't win them all."

That night we talked for hours, finally, we went for the first one, it had more rooms and is closest to this building. Although Yurie had more interest in Inari and Kacha, a good thing we warned them about her.

The [Teleport] Taxi took everyone home, When Lydia kissed me goodbye, Inari asked: "Do we have to share your bed, Lord Seiji?"

I shook my head: "No you don't. This is more of a political alliance, once you are trained, you probably leave for your country. We value your friendship and goodwill more than forcing you to share our bed. The women I have a relationship with right now like me and I like them. If you ever get to the point where you like me, then talk with Elena. But please never do that out of gratitude or obligation, that is where friendship is for."

This week is going to be fun… meeting the in-laws.
