Chapter 2: Town Shrouded in Masked Shadows. (4/4)

Ellie Williams:

"Goddammit..." Jesse complained out loud as they made their way towards the center. "We should have stopped Dina."

"Hell yeah we should have, but it's too late now." Ellie agreed while running besides Jesse with the rest of the group following behind the two. "What if that albino weirdo does something to her?" She was concerned as that strange masked boy is very unpredictable.

"Nah, I don't think he will." Jesse replied as held the shotgun tightly. "It's his people that I'm worried about."

As they got closer and closer to their destination, Ellie prepared herself as she was still terrified of what they might encounter there. Because she sincerely cannot even imagine what the "sharp ones" that Fox Boy mentioned are. Alongside the ones called the Faceless, which he apparently went to meet with Dina following behind him. This entire situation made Ellie unbelievably anxious and she just hoped that Joel, Maria and Tommy were okay. Since they're practically her family now and she would be devastated if something happened to any of them. Another reason for her to hurry and arrive to help them deal with whatever the hell are these "sharp ones".

"Whatever we find at the center, we need to deal with it quickly." Jesse told her with worry in his voice. "Fox Boy said "There's no need for a second distraction" which means that the explosion was simply to distract us." He pointed out to Ellie.

Ellie looked at him in response. "How?" She asked for clarifications.

"Once we deal with whatever the hell are the "Sharp ones" we would most likely go to check the area where the explosion occurred." Jesse explained. "And probably be so distracted by trying to figure out the purpose of it, that we wouldn't see his people sneaking out through a different area."

Ellie widened her eyes as what Jesse said made total sense. "Shit, we gotta tell Joel and Maria about this."

"We have to find them first." Jesse added.

As they were about to reach the center, Ellie couldn't help but have a bad feeling about the situation as they approached the area. Both Jesse and her stopped running and signaled the rest to do it as well, then they started to walk slowly with their weapons prepared to engage whatever the hell was dropped into their town. With the hunting rifle at hand, she walked behind Jesse, who was holding a pump-action shotgun, as they turned around a corner that led to the area. There, they saw the container that the helicopter was carrying, open and empty, with absolutely no sign of anything or anyone inside.

"What?" Ellie spoke as she saw the place completely deserted.

Jesse looked around for a bit before replying. "Look..." He pointed at something on the ground with his index finger.

Ellie moved her head to see, and noticed that there were empty gun cartridges on the ground, then she looked around like Jesse and saw some bullet holes on the walls and on the container. "Shit..."

Jesse then looked at her with a worried expression before he spoke. "Everyone," He spoke in a low voice. "Search the area for Joel and Maria, and be careful, whatever was inside that container is probably around here somewhere." Her friend warned everyone, who were justifiably preoccupied.

With that, everyone scattered around the area to search. Ellie and Jesse on the other hand, decided to inspect the container closely. What the fuck are these people? It was a question that Ellie had on her mind ever since they saw those disturbing recordings on Fox Boy's camera. Once they were close enough, they took a good look inside and noticed several scratch marks on the inside of the container. With Jesse being visibly disturbed by that.

"They're infected... But... They have spikes all over their bodies." He repeated what Fox Boy told them earlier as he touched the scratched wall.

"Do you think he meant it literally?" Ellie had to ask, even though she already knew the answer.

"I think everything he says is meant to be taken literally." Jesse pointed out that Fox Boy has been absolutely honest despite the fact that they were technically their enemies. "I think he's autistic or something." He suggested.

"Or he's just crazy, considering the people that he lives with." Ellie was still disturbed about those masked people that they saw on the videos, much more at the moment since there's a high chance of them actually being in Jackson City.

"Yeah, probably." Jesse probably half-agreed with her on that, but it was definitely not the time to talk about the Albino Weirdo. "Okay, the only way out is there but... Why there's no sign of them?" That question wasn't really directed towards Ellie.

"May-" Ellie was about to reply, but...

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" Suddenly, a very loud scream coming from outside startled the two.

"What the fuck?!" Ellie spoke in response as she ran outside with Jesse behind her to check who screamed.

Once the two friends made their way outside, they were greeted by a shocking sight. The lifeless body of a girl that came along with them, but it wasn't her lifeless body that shocked them, it was the thing on top of her. It was clearly an infected but it was unlike anything that they ever saw, it was a large, vaguely, human-shaped creature covered in hairless, seemingly-rough, gray skin, with no nose, ears, mouth or sexual characteristic. But what stood out the most, was the sharp spikes on their bodies which was stabbing the girl at that precise moment.

Both Ellie and Jesse, and pretty much everyone was paralyzed as that thing was extremely grotesque. After a few seconds of watching that thing pulling itself off the girl's body, until one of the others decided to do something. A boy wearing a red jacket approached that thing and decided to shoot it in the head. But to everyone's shock, it didn't do anything to it. Other than causing that disturbing looking infection to jump at the boy, stabbing with the spikes just like he did with the girl. "AAAAAAHHHHHHH!" The boy screamed in pain as the spikes pierce through his torso.

"Shit!" It was Jesse's response as he approached that thing with the shotgun and shot it in the head. Thankfully, it did the trick and kill it.

Ellie approached him with the rifle at hand as everyone else was still shocked with that thing. "Is this...?" She stood besides Jesse as he looked at that thing.

"A sharp one..." Jesse answered her as he inspected the thing. "Fox Boy wasn'-' ' He was about to say something, but when he moved his head up to look at Ellie. He stared at her direction but he wasn't looking at her. "Ellie..."

Ellie moved her head towards the direction that Jesse was looking at, only to be greeted by a horrible sight. There were several infected that were identical to the one that they just shot coming in their direction.

"Everyone, shoot!" Jesse yelled as he pulled Ellie away and started to fire at the high number of infected coming in their direction.

Where the fuck is Joel?! Ellie thought as she started to fire at them alongside Jesse and the others.

Joel Miller:

"Oh no..." Maria spoke as they heard the gunshots.

Once the container opened, it revealed a bunch of grotesque looking infected with spikes on them. Which Joel and Maria tried to fire at, but the bullets didn't seem to have any effect on them as their skin seemed to absorb them like it was nothing. So ultimately, both Joel and Maria had to run for it and hide. They're currently hiding in a house that belonged to an old lady that Joel doesn't remember the name of. They were inside an empty room on the second floor spying through the window.

"Dammit, we have to go out there." Joel told her as he was certain that Ellie was involved in those gunshots.

"And do what?" Maria asked him while waving her empty handgun at him. "We would just get on their way."

Joel wanted to argue but she was right, their handguns were out of ammo and getting close to those things is suicide. "We-" He was about to say something to his sister-in-law, but then a noise was heard from outside of the room.

"Dammit, one of them must have entered the house." Maria whispered as walked towards the door silently.

Joel searched around the empty room for a weapon but didn't find anything. They only entered there because it had the window that showcased the front of the house.

Maria then laid on the floor, in an attempt to see the infected's shadow from under the door. Joel could see it, since the lights of the corridor were on.

The sound of the spikes on its body could also be heard as the sound of scratching was pretty evident. Joel had to admit, he thought nothing could faze him anymore, but those things immediately proved him wrong.

Luckily, the noise of the scratching started to get more and more quiet. Maria used the opportunity to open a small gap on the door to check. Joel moved to join her and he also saw the infected standing at the end of the corridor. It just stood there, shaking like it was having a convulsion.

Maria stared at him, probably wondering if they should take this opportunity to try to take that thing down. Joel was reluctant for a second, but he really wanted to get out there and go find either Ellie or Tommy. He ended up making up his mind after they noticed that the gunshots actually ceased. Causing him to just nod at Maria and slowly open the door. The old man just crouched and moved towards the infected slowly, his back was honestly killing him since he was pushed down those stairs and his knees were hurting as well. I'm definitely too old for this. He thought as he approached the thing from behind.

The corridor that he was in was pretty simple, just some photos on the wall and a nice red carpet. Though, there was a bookshelf four steps away from the infected and he already knows how to use it. Once he was close enough, he grabbed the relatively small bookshelf by the left edge and pushed in order to face the infected, the noise of the dragging alerted the infected. But Joel was quicker and was able to push the bookshelf in order to drop it on top of the infected. Which it worked.

The infected kept on scrambling while under the bookshelf but he was incapacitated for the moment.

"Jesus Christ, what the hell is this thing?" Maria asked as she approached Joel from behind.

Joel didn't know how to answer her, but he did remember something. "Remember that video with the woman?"

"The one where she hit Fox Boy with the bucket?" She spoke with a lot of disgust in her voice. "Wait, "one of Venus's creations"..." She repeated what Fox Boy said.

"I'm pretty sure this is one of them." Joel said as he pointed at the thing that was still stuck under the bookshelf.

"One of them?" It wasn't really a question but she was clearly disturbed by the possibility of more things like that one.

"Come on," Joel immediately passed over the bookshelf from above. "We need to find Ellie and Tommy."

Fox Boy:

"Hmmm..." Fox Boy was following behind Dina, who was running through a different passage that led to the center where Jester dropped the container.

Why is he going with her instead of searching for Reaper? Because it turns out that Reaper's location is on the way. Also, because he really likes Dina's company and wants to spend more time with her.

Apparently, Dina was using a series of shortcuts that will take them to the center quicker than the path that Ghost Head and the Faceless are taking. Which is basically a series of alleyways that they have to traverse through.

"No offense but," Dina spoke to him as they walked. "Could you... Stay away from me, at least a little bit?" She asked him. "The smell is really making me sick."

"Okay..." Fox Boy took four steps back in order to create some distance between himself and Dina.

"That's good enough, thanks." She told him. "God, how do you handle this smell?"

"By not using it, but I don't really have a choice at times." He explained to her. There are times where he has to cover himself with that think so he won't be attacked by infected. He did take the spray that Ghost Head tossed aside in case of needing it more.

"I don't blame you, you actually smelled okay before." Dina pointed out.

"I washed my clothes the other day in a washing machine that I found, right inside that entrance where Jesse was having intercourse with a girl." For some reason, Dina shifted strangely upon the mention of Jesse and the mysterious girl.

"Oh... Okay, t-that's good." Dina spoke strangely. "Shit..." She spoke as they approached something.

Unfortunately, the two of them encounter a dead-end in the form of a locked gate. "Strange place for a gate to be." Fox Boy commented as the spot looked like a back alley with the back of two houses on each side, so the gate really looked out of place.

"Two grumpy old men put this here, because kids used to come here to play on this alley." Dina explained as she tried to get the gate open. "Come on... We're almost there..." She pleaded as she tried to force it open but to no avail. "Fuck!" She kicked the gate in frustration.

Fox Boy, however, was searching around for a way to pass through the gate, as it was impossible for him to unlock it from that side. The two houses on each side were considerably high and there was nothing to grab on to. The gate itself had spikes in the top of it, so... "Help me climb." He told Dina.

"Huh?" Dina turned to the masked boy. He pointed at the top of the gate where there were spikes on it. "How are you going to pass through the spikes?"

"By passing above them." He told her the obvious. How else was I supposed to do it?

Dina only stared at him, apparently confused about it. But she eventually complied and decided to place her two hands together to help him go up. Fox Boy immediately placed his foot on her hands as she immediately lifted him up with a considerable amount of difficulty until he got high enough to reach the gate. Fox Boy then held on to the gate with his left hand and prepared himself. "Hey, you're light but I'm not exactly strong." Dina told him as she struggled to keep him up. He didn't respond, instead, he jumped and grabbed one of the spikes with his right hand. It was considerably sharp and immediately cut his hand, but he basically ignored it and grabbed onto another spike with his left, which also cut it. But he simply ignored and lifted himself up in order to pass through the gate, which he was able to do, managing to jump into the other side afterwards. "You did it!" Dina spoke happily as she saw that he was able to do it.

On the other side, Fox Boy was able to see the lock of the gate. So he pulled out his lock pick from his boot and unlocked the gate for Dina. Once he did, he placed his lock pick back on his boot before he opened the gate.

"Awesome!" Dina said once the gate was open. "That was pretty bada-" She was about to say something but stopped mid-sentence as she widened her eyes at something. Something was the blood coming out of Fox Boy's hands because of the cuts. "Are you okay?!" The pretty girl immediately asked the albino boy.

"Yes." It was his only response.

"You're bleeding." She pointed out.

"I bleed all the time." It was true, there has been only a few times where he spent the entire day without bleeding in some way.

Dina was visibly uncomfortable with what he said for some reason. "Take your gloves off." She told him.

He was going to ask why, but decided to just obey her. Only for her to widen her eyes when she sees his hands.

"What the fuck?!" That was her response. "What the fuck did that?!" She was referring to the huge scars on the back of both of his pale hands, which resembled whip marks.

"Oh, I once tripped on a wire that was connected to a machine." Fox Boy explained to the pretty girl. "The machine broke because of it, so Jester got so mad that he hit my hand a hundred and seven times with a... I don't really know what it was, it looked like a belt but I don't think it was." It took nearly ten days for him to be able to close his hands properly.

Dina cringed as she inspected his hands then she reached inside her coat's pocket and pulled out a flask. Then she opened and poured whatever was inside on the cuts on his hands.

Fox Boy barely reacted to that but it burned, it only took a few seconds for him to figure out what that was. "Is that... alcohol?" He asked.

"It's whiskey." Dina responded to him. "Before you ask, it isn't mine." She looked away suspiciously after saying that.

"Okay... I don't like alcohol, it tastes bad and makes my throat seem like it's burning." Fox Boy told her as she pulled out a piece of cloth from another one of her pockets to clean the blood off his hands.

"What do you like to drink then?" She asked him.

"Milk." Fox Boy loves milk. "Preferably warn."

"I like warm milk too." Dina spoke as she finished cleaning his wound. "All fixed."

The albino boy then inspected his hands, he stared at them for a few seconds before looking at Dina for a few seconds as well.

Dina just stood there awkwardly, awaiting an answer or maybe a thank you but all that the masked boy did was stare at her. "What?" She asked awkwardly. Without any type of warning or even a sign, Fox Boy wrapped his arms around Dina's torso, giving her a tight hug. "Huh?" She was obviously surprised by the act but after a second or two, she decided to return the hug and gave a giggly response to the gesture. "You are welcome."

...

...

...

They stayed like that for nearly a minute, until Dina decided to put an end to it for a very specific reason. "Ummm, once again, no offense but... You really smell awful and I'm gonna end up puking on you if you don't let go of me now." She warned him gently.

Fox Boy understood and decided to let go of her and take a few steps back in order to keep the smell away from her. I wanted to hug more... He thought sadly as the hug was wonderful in many different ways. Dina was very soft, like a big stuffed animal and she smelled really good, unlike himself at that moment. "Can we keep hugging later?" He asked her, really hoping that she'll say yes.

Dina seemed confused for a bit but then she said "Ummm... Okay, but only if you wash your clothes and take a shower." She proposed the conditions for it as the smell clearly bothered her as much as it bothers Fox Boy.

"Okay!" He replied happily.

"Okay... Now, let-" She walked past him and was about to make her way towards the center once again. But she stopped once she spotted something for afar. "Wha..." That something, was one of Venus's creations.

"It's a sharp one." Fox Boy told her as he sees the infected with spikes all over its body approach them.

Dina immediately drew her handgun to shoot it.

"It's not going to work, a 9mm Parabellum isn't enough to penetrate the skin." Fox Boy informed her before she wasted her ammo on it.

"What?!" Dina immediately asked in deep confusion.

"Unless you aim for the eyes, they're the only part that isn't protected." Fox Boy instructed her, he saw Venus covering them with something that caused their skin to solidify in a way that any caliber below a 10mm Auto is incapable of penetrating.

As he spoke to Dina, the sharp one kept approaching with Dina not knowing what to do, she aimed for the eye like Fox Boy told her and tried to shoot it, but she missed and ended up hitting the are where it's eyebrow should be, and just like Fox Boy said, it had no effect on him. Firing three more shots Dina desperately tried to kill that sharp one but to no avail. Sensing what was about to happen, Fox Boy reached inside his coat's pockets and pulled out the spray can that Ghost Head used on him earlier and covered Dina's back with it.

"What are you doing?!" Dina asked him as the sharp one got close enough, only for it to suddenly stop and simply stand there, completely still. "What?" She asked in deep confusion as the sharp one stood there unmoving in front of her. Twitching in a strange motion like it was having a convulsion. It took a few seconds for Dina to realize what was happening. "Did you cover me with that thing?"

"They don't attack when you are covered in it." Fox Boy explained to her as he tossed the now empty spray can away. Then he drew his handgun and pressed in the sharp one's left eye before pulling the trigger and killing it.

"Holy shit, I thought you were lying about that." Dina spoke in pure disbelief over what just happened.

"I don't like lying, it's mean." He told her before putting his Walther P38 away. "Sorry for making you smell bad too."

"You just saved me from being stabbed a bunch of times by that thing, so absolutely no harm done." She told him, with a smile. "Does this work with every infected?" She asked him in curiosity.

"Yes." He confirmed while nodding as it did work with every single infected so far.

"Awesome..." Dina replied.

Suddenly, the two heard gunshots coming from the direction that led to the center.

"Shit, c'mon." Dina signaled him to follow her, which he did.

Ellie Williams:

"Shhh..."

Ellie, Jesse and some of the others had retreated as there were too many of those infected with spikes on it. But it wasn't just the spikes, their skin was hard and handgun bullets had no effect on them. But both Ellie and Jesse were able to kill some with the rifle and the shotgun, but sadly, only few of them actually brought larger guns, so it wasn't enough for them to combat those things.

"What do we do?" Ellie asked Jesse in a whisper.

What was left of their group, which was basically just her, Jesse and three more people who weren't killed by the spiked infection. They all had to hide inside one of the houses, which had a pretty minimalist decoration, with very few furniture around. Making Ellie wonder whose house was that.

"I have no idea." Sadly, that was Jesse's response as there were several of them outside and only the curtains on the windows were keeping them hidden. "Who's house is this?" He asked her in a low voice.

Ellie signaled to him that she had no idea.

Both were close to the door with their guns ready, just in case.

"Ellie, get upstairs and see if you can find a window." Jesse told her. "Use the scope to search around for other people that managed to get away or a way out of here."

Ellie just nodded in response, before she moved towards the stairs slowly and as quietly as possible. The shadows of those things could be seen through the curtains of the window with a sound of scratching accompanying. Shit! Shit! Shit! Those things disturbed Ellie in more ways that she could ever describe it. But the thing that disturbed her the most was a simple detail that she couldn't ignore no matter how much she tried. "Oh... It was just one of Venus's creations, as Reaper calls it." What Fox Boy said keeps echoing in her head because it basically confirms that these things are just one of those creepy woman's creations. Climbing up the stairs Ellie came across two doors, one on the right and one on the left, both of them were rooms. On the left, it was clearly a woman's room, and the right was a child's room. Ellie immediately went to the right as it gave her a clear sight of the front of the house. The room was completely yellow and was filled with posters, toys, a video game console there, but what stood out was how messy it was. But she ignored it and walked straight towards the window.

"Fuck..." She spoke in a very low voice as she looked through the window.

There was a considerable number of those things in front of the house, just roaming around the street. She can see the corpses of the people that came along with her and Jesse. Ellie knew most of them, and it made her feel depressed. However, it wasn't time to be sad about it. Okay... She slowly opened the window and closed the curtain in order to stay hidden. Using the scope of the rifle to search the area for either survivors or a way to escape.

Joel Miller:

Joel and Maria managed to arrive back at the center but they immediately had to find a spot for cover to avoid the spiked infection that was all over the place. They were currently hiding behind the edge of the wall, with several of those things just ahead.

"How many?" Maria, who was right beside him, asked in a whisper.

"Eleven, I don't see Ellie, Dina or Jesse among them. '' Joel was relieved by that.

"Shit..." But Maria was clearly affected by the number of casualties.

Joel kept looking around from the edge of the wall in order to find any signs of Ellie. Come on Kiddo... He thought as he searched around for her. But then instead of searching for her directly, Joel had the idea of actually looking at the bullets that were on the ground. Lots of empty handgun shots, some rifle shots and empty shotgun shells. Though, he did notice a considerable number of them in front of one of the houses. He noticed that the house in question had the curtains closed and the inside could not be seen. Maybe... Moving his gaze up to see more of that specific house, Joel caught something on one of the windows above. That's a rifle. He could tell. "I think they're inside that house over there." Joel told Maria.

"How do you know?" She asked as she moved her head to check.

"Window on the second floor." He whispered to her.

"Hmmm..." Maria saw it.

Taking a deep breath, Joel made a decision. "Listen, you need to get out of here and go get reinforcements." He told his sister-in-law. "I'm gonna try to get in there and warn them to hang on until you come back with reinforcements."

"Joel, you don't have any bullets left, how the hell are you going to do that?" She asked in clear concern.

"I'll manage, but we need to get rid of those things before they start to roam around or something." Joel pointed out to Maria. "Look." He pointed at some of the dead infected. "I think high calibers can kill them."

Maria sighed. "Are you sure about this?" She asked him.

"No, but we don't have a choice." He told her. "I ain't leaving Ellie here."

Taking a deep breath, Maria said. "Fine." His brother's wife decided to follow his plan. "I'll go as fast as I can, so just hold on inside the house until I come back, okay?"

Joel nodded at her in response.

Maria nodded before she quietly sneaked away from there through a different path in order to the infected. Leaving Joel by himself as he contemplates on what to do to enter that house.

Fox Boy:

"This way..." Dina told him.

Both Fox Boy and Dina were passing through a small narrow area in between two houses. The albino boy was following behind her through the narrow path as snow fell on both of them. I think another blizzard is coming. He thought as he noticed the snow getting stronger. After moving a bit more, they notice a small wooden fence.

"Shit, what's with people and fences?" Dina complained.

"I don't know..." Fox Boy replied. "Maybe it is to keep people out or to keep people in."

"It wasn't really a serious question, but I think you're right." Dina responded to him as she prepared to climb the fence in order to pass above it.

When Dina proceeded to climb over the wooden fence, Fox Boy stood there, watching her do it. Once she managed to get her upper body high enough, she ended up bending a bit in order to get some mobility to lift her legs up. But as she did, Fox Boy accidentally ended up staring at Dina's butt. Which made him feel... a little strange. But Dina was unable to lift her legs up to pass through the fence as her feet kept slipping through the wood, despite her wearing boots. Fox Boy can tell that it's both because of the snow and because Dina was climbing it the wrong way. He wanted to say something but he kept getting distracted by Dina's butt and the weird feeling he was having while staring at it.

"Fuck!" Dina yelled in anger before she gave up and left the fence. "It is way too slippery."

Finally snapping out of it, Fox Boy decided to speak. "Y-you were... Climbing it... W-wrong." He spoke very awkwardly towards her as he was still feeling strange.

Dina made a confused face. "Are you okay?" She asked him.

Fox Boy didn't know how to answer. "I... saw your butt and felt... Strange." He admitted.

"My butt? " Dina immediately checked herself to see if there was something on it. But then she widened her eyes. "Oh..." She then made a strange facial expression. "Umm..." She didn't seem to know how to respond to him. "It usually has this effect on guys... and some girls, so...don't worry about it."

Fox Boy was confused. "What kind of effect is that?"

"Well... When you find someone... really... attractive, you have this type of feeling towards them." Dina tried to explain with a bit of difficulty.

"Oh, I understand now." Fox Boy really did. "I find you very attractive, so that was probably it."

Dina smiled at him. "Thank you." But then she moved her gaze towards the fence. "Could you please help me pass through it?"

The masked boy nodded, before he approached the fence and pulled out his sword from his belt with the scabbard still on and then proceeded to hit the fence with the pommel of the blade like a battering ram, easily breaking the wood upon impact. It was a fence made of low-quality wood, which was why it was breaking it so easily.

"Cool sword by the way." Dina told him as she watched him break the fence.

"It's a Schiavona, it's a Renaissance sword that became popular in Italy during the 16th and 17th centuries." Fox Boy explained to her the type of sword that was. "But mine is a customized version as Schianova's are supposed to have a Basket-hilt to protect your hand." Which his sword didn't possess.

"Have you ever had a sword fight with someone?" She asked him as she stood beside him.

"Yes." He answered her as he broke the fence with his sword.

"And?" She asked.

"And?" He was confused.

"Tell me about it?" She requested.

"We were trying to contain a large group of individuals that had taken refuge inside of a dock, we all had to pass and investigate a bunch of boats where they were taking refuge. In one of those boats there was a dark skinned man with very strange looking hair that came out from inside a metal locker and started to skillfully attack me with a machete." Fox Boy got punished for his carelessness during the search. "He sliced my back four times until I was able to get my sword out and deflect his attacks, and after two minutes of trading attacks, I got the upper hand due the Faceless exploding the rest of boats which made the boat we were in shake in a way that made us lose our balance, I manage to get up first and stab him on the throat while he was still down."

"Shit," It was Dina's reaction to the story. "Where did that happen?"

Fox Boy paused for a second as he tried to remember the name of the city where that particular event happened. After a minute or two, he finally remembered. "New York City."

"Woah, seriously?!" Dina seemed surprised by that revelation.

Fox Boy just nodded in response before he managed to break the fence enough to open a passage through it. After kicking some of the wood to better Dina's passage, he stepped back to allow her to go first.

"Such a gentleman." Dina told him before she passed through the passage that Fox Boy made.

Fox Boy then passed through which led him to a street. But once he did, Dina grabbed him and pulled him into a nearby wall. She signaled him to be quiet as she checked the edge of the wall. A confused Fox Boy decided to do the same. Only to catch the sight of a high number of people at the end of the street. Some of them were the same people that he saw coming in and out of the armory with Jesse,Dina and Ellie, but they were all on their knees with their hands on their heads, with a considerable number of Faceless pointing their guns on them.

"Oh shit..." Dina spoke in visible frustration as she saw her people at gunpoint.

Fox Boy barely reacted however, though he was wondering who was leading that group.

He got his answer after a few seconds, as Fox Boy caught the sight of Reaper appearing in his field of vision. He was still getting used to his new outfit after the previous one got damaged. Reaper was now wearing a strange and less tactical outfit composed of, brown trousers with pattern pieces stitched together roughly, a brown tunic that matched the trousers but with a caplet and the heavy hood stitched on, black boots that were the same as the one that Fox Boy was wearing it, black gloves and a belt with suspenders that had several pouches on it. Fox Boy genuinely thinks it's a downgrade compared to his previous outfit but until Jester fixes it, it's enough. His mask is still the same though. He was carrying a Heckler & Koch HK417 as his primary weapon and a FN Five-Seven as a secondary weapon, he also carried a karambit knife as a melee weapon.

"That's Reaper." He told her.

"Wasn't he supposed to be using a black outfit?" Dina asked him.

"It got damaged in an explosion and Jester hasn't managed to repair it yet." He explained to her, before he walked past her.

"What are you doing?!" She asked him.

"I have to go, he wants to see me." Fox Boy then started to approach the group.

"Wait." She tried to tell him, but he just kept moving forward.

With each step, he got closer and closer to the Faceless and Reaper, who were speaking with the hostages. One of them was saying some mean words but one of the Faceless hit his face with the tip of his gun. It only took a few more steps for Fox Boy to get closer, once he was close enough, Reaper noticed his presence.

"You were captured." Reaper bluntly pointed out in Japanese.

"Yes." Fox Boy confirmed in Japanese.

"What was the cause of your capture?" Reaper asked him as the Faceless placed the group in position.

"That man you ordered me to accompany got caught and ended up revealing my presence." He spoke the truth. "I managed to evade them for a bit but I eventually got cornered."

"I see." Reaper replied, but before he could say anything else, one of the Faceless brought another person to line up.

Fox Boy immediately recognized the person. "Hi Cedric." He waved at him.

"Fucking hell, why do you keep showing up?!" Cedric spoke with him angrily as the Faceless forced him to kneel down.

"Explanation." Reaper demanded of Fox Boy.

"He's one of the Patrolmen in the town." He explained to Reaper. "He was the one that guarded the cell where I was being kept as a prisoner."

Reaper didn't respond to him afterwards, he just made a small noise that Fox Boy was unable to comprehend. Then he reached towards one of the pouches on his suspenders and pulled something out of it. It was a Fairbairn–Sykes fighting knife, which was tossed at Cedric. Cedric just looked at the knife confused, before Reaper grabbed both Fox Boy's sword and gun, dropping the two into the ground. And pulled him to stand in front of Cedric, then he opened Fox Boy's duffel coat and pointed at a spot on his abdomen. "I'll give you a chance." He spoke in perfect English with a bit of a Japanese accent towards Cedric. "Stab him right here with that knife and you will be spared."

All of the hostages looked at the three of them in shock for what they just heard, but Fox Boy barely reacted to what Reaper asked of Cedric. Cedric just widened his eyes in response. "S-seriously?" He asked Reaper as he grabbed the knife from the ground.

"Cedric, what the fuck?!"

"Don't do it!"

"What the hell is wrong with you?!"

"How old is that kid?!"

"Don't worry, Cedric doesn't have the guts."

Reaper simply said. "Yes, you have my word that you will be spared if you do as I said."

Cedric heard him and held the knife with both hands, he appeared to be hyperventilating and his hands were shaking. He then looked to his left with the hostages shaking the hostages urging him not to do it. But then he took one good look at the Faceless and then Reaper and with a completely terrified look. He shoved the knife at the spot where Reaper was pointing at, stabbing Fox Boy in the abdomen.

"Fuck!"

"Jesus Christ!?"

"What the fuck?!

"Cedric, you fucking piece of shit!"

"He's just a kid, you crazy bastard!"

As the hostages kept on screaming and their voices kept echoing through his ear, the albino boy was focused on the knife that was pierced inside his abdomen. Fox Boy barely reacted to the stab, but that didn't mean that he didn't feel it, he just stood there un-moving for a whole minute. Until his legs faltered on him and he fell backwards into the ground covered in snow. Once his back hit the ground, he accidentally caught the sight of Dina, who was still hiding in that exact same spot. She had her eyes widened and she was covering her mouth, he actually hated seeing her like that.

"There... I did it!" Cedric yelled at Reaper while shaking.

Reaper just took a good look at the fallen Fox Boy and said. "Yes, you did." He told him in response.

"C-can I go?" Cedric asked in fear.

"Yes, but there's something you must answer me first." Reaper approached Cedric and stood in front of him.

"W-what?" He was clearly terrified of Reaper, who towered over him.

"I'm gonna give you two choices now and you will decide which one you prefer." Reaper told him with Cedric making a confused face. Then he pointed at the hostages. "Choice number one, I'll let you go and I'll also let them go, then I'll give all of you thirty seconds before we start to hunt you all once again." He offered that first choice with all of the hostages listening closely. "Choice number two, I'll just let you go and order one of my men to escort you out of this town unharmed with enough supplies for you to get by." Reaper offered him, which caused all of the hostages to be shocked at the offer. "Make your choice."

"Number two." Cedric didn't even waste a single second to decide between the two choices.

"YOU FUCKER!"

"YOU BASTARD!"

"I ALWAYS KNEW YOU WERE A NOTHING BUT A PERVERTED PIECE OF SHIT!"

"OH GOD!"

All of the hostages screamed in anger at him, but Cedric didn't seem even a tiny bit sorry or remorseful for his decision. "I pick two, just let me go."

"As you wish." Reaper then signaled one of the Faceless to accompany him. Then he signaled Cedric to follow him, which he did, with all the hostages cursing him as he does. But it didn't take long for them to get out of sight. Once they were, Reaper approached the fallen Fox Boy and kneeled down next to him. "This was your punishment for getting yourself captured." Reaper informed him. "The knife didn't hit any organs, so you'll survive." Fox Boy already knew that. Reaper then stood up. "Decide their fate." He ordered him.

Fox Boy moved his head with difficulty to see the prisoners. "D-don't k-kill them." He gave him his decision.

Reaper stared at Fox Boy for a bit before speaking. "Take them alive, and move out." He ordered the Faceless. "Patch yourself up and rejoin us as soon as you can." He ordered the albino boy.

"Y-yes, s-sir..." Fox Boy struggled to speak as the knife was still on his abdomen.

It only took a few minutes for Reaper and the Faceless to move all the prisoners from that area, leaving the albino boy by himself on the ground with a knife pierced on his stomach. But after a minute of silence, he heard something.

"Just hold on..." It was Dina's soothing voice speaking to him.

But sadly, he couldn't keep himself awake to hear any more of it.

Thanks for reading this chapter, your support means everything to me.

As always, QUESTIONS and ANSWERS:

I already can tell that Fox Boy knows Martial Arts, unlike the rest of the cast.

Which styles does he use?

Jiu-Jitsu, Judo and Sambo, with a bit of Systema thrown into the mix. He also has intense training in the use of melee weapons, but his mastery is with his sword and he also knows Ninjutsu.

Fox Boy continues to be one endearing little psycho

Seriously his habit of waving is just endearing as hell for some reason

Anyway got a laugh how he was on his own for all of five seconds before he got out of his cell and how casual he was with the other while watching things from his perch

Again seriously scratching my head over how on earth the town survives

Ah so was it Dina that was with Jesse I kinda hope it wasn't

Thinking about its kind of odd that Jesse will get on with Fox Boy considering Fox is the guy Dina is going to get with plus Ellie

I'll also add I'm really hoping Dina doesn't get pregnant with JJ like she did in the game flys a little to close to how stupid Mel was at least Dina wasn't going to give birth any moment

Also yes really really hoping still that when Abby and her gaggle of idiots appear Fox Boy makes their lives a living hell particularly Abby I'm talking Abby loses sleep, has horrific nightmares when she does all centred around a fear of Fox boy like she sees him in the corner of her vision

Plus she suffers a painful death because Abby is just the worse

Oh and with Fox Boy and the other masked ones while they might not have wanted him to die I still hope you go with the suggestion that they all even if they try to deny it are afraid of Fox Boy to various degrees even more than old Fox

I wouldn't call him a psycho, he's doing what he's told to do.

Fox Boy has a lot of eccentric habits.

Think of Fox Boy as a Post-Apocalypse Ninja.

Some will thanks to a certain redhead asking a certain masked boy nicely for help.

Let's just say that poor Ellie will have to endure some heartbreak after a certain revelation. But there will be a reconciliation later (With a certain Albino Weirdo participating in the reconciliation.)

He will be more confused than anything, especially since Fox Boy will be the most clueless about it. (Imagine the scene from the game after Ellie and Dina had their first time together. But change the location, change a blizzard for a rainstorm, add a sleeping Fox Boy to the scene and replace Jesse's berating of them over their Patrol duties, with him berating them for giving Fox Boy weed.)

{Minor spoiler: They will try to keep their relationship with Fox Boy strictly platonic after the reconciliation in order to focus on their own relationship, but they fail miserably at that because... well...}

[

Dina: Where is he?

Jesse: I think he's playing video games with one of the girls that was hitting on him earlier.

(Both Ellie and Dina widened their eyes in response.)

Ellie: Excuse me?

Jeese: (Chuckled a bit) Like four or five girls sat next to him during breakfast this morning and started to ask him questions that he was mostly clueless of how to answer. That girl in charge of the daycare kept staring at him while he was finger painting with the little kids. Several kept cheering for him when he was having a friendly match against those guys at the gym in the evening and the list goes on.

Dina: (A very subtle frown appeared on her face) You shouldn't have left him alone with them. What if they try something?

Jesse: I'm his friend, not his babysitter, he can do whatever he wants. If they do try something with him, like... I don't know... give him drugs like certain people, then I'll interject.

(Both looked away in shame.)

Ellie: Ummm... He's right, it's none of our business. (Clearly bothered by it.)

Dina: (Abruptly turns her head to look at Ellie) The hell is not! They're only chasing him now because of his face.

Jesse: So? He's lucky his face makes up for his nasty body.

(Both look at Jesse angrily)

Dina: Don't call his body nasty!

Ellie: He didn't ask for those fucking scars, Jesse!

Jesse: I didn't say that to be a jerk. His body is hard to look at, independently of our feelings about it.

]

In Dina's defense, she only figured out that she was pregnant while they were already in a danger-zone and was smart enough to stay out of trouble for the most part. Mel on the hand...

Let's just say that... Fox Boy will be forced to temporarily cooperate with her to deal with the thing that tossed him on the Venus video.

No, they actually underestimate him which ends up leading to their demise.

Hello, I'm glad you came back and read this again.

-I guess the city will eventually fall apart. Survivors disperse in different directions, just like The Walking Dead when the prison breaks It's almost impossible. He didn't have time to plan ahead to deal with such a violent attack.

-How would you modify Abby?

-Dina was probably the one who convinced the Fox Boy. Leaving Normandy causing dissatisfaction among the high-ranking members

-Guess Joel will die in this battle

If we didn't meet today good afternoon good evening and good ning too

Sorta

Basically her quest for revenge had a much more realistic outcome.

It will be a team effort to get him to do that.

Someone will die...

Good afternoon, evening and night.

Nice chapter!

Thanks!
