Chapter 4: Painful Numbness (3/3)
Ellie Williams:
Having no other choice, Ellie, Dina, Jesse, Tommy and Maria were all forced to leave Joel behind and made their way to the dense forest to get away from the masked psychos. It was dark as hell in there, the cold blizzard was falling upon them with full force and everyone was was considerably tired.
This way." Maria told them.
Both Ellie and Maria were helping the Tommy move while Jesse was helping Dina. They were all going as fast as they could but if they don't do anything quickly, the Faceless will catch on to them.
"Where are we going?" Dina asked them as she looked back in fear.
"There's a lumber mill not far from here." Tommy explained. "There's nowhere else to go."
"Come on," Maria spoke as they quickly moved past a tree. "Hurry!"
They could heard the Faceless approaching, which only made them move faster despite Ellie's, Dina's and Tommy's injuries. Though, despite the pain on her shoulder from the stab, Ellie's biggest worry at the moment, was Joel.
Fuck... I can't believe we left him there, with a fucking sword on his back. Ellie was still in shock but she has to get over it, because they are in extreme danger.
"Watch out!" Dina yelled at Ellie.
Turning around, they saw two of those armored freaks pointing their submachine guns at them. Maria immediately pulled Tommy and Ellie into the ground to avoid getting hit by the shots.
"Oh shit!" Ellie cursed as one of the bullets, grazed her bicep.
"Hey!" Suddenly however, Jesse called their attention and fired the shotgun that Fox Boy gave it to him at one of them. It worked as it went through his armor and killed him. However, other one was still standing , with him easily closing the distance and disarming Jesse by grabbing the shotgun and performing some type of hip toss on Jesse. "Ahh!" Jesse grunted as he hit the ground that was covered in snow.
As he was about to kill Jesse, Dina limped towards them and shot the submachine gun at the Faceless. Sadly, that didn't do much against the armor.
But it did gave Jesse enough time to reach the shotgun again and fire at him before he could shoot Dina. Killing him instantly.
"Ssss..." Ellie grunted in pain because of her bicep. "Fuck, that was close."
"Hey." Dina immediately limped towards her and touched her arm to help her stand.
"It just grazed me, don't worry." Ellie assured her. Before she helped Tommy and Maria stand. "You guys okay?"
"No, Tommy reopened his wound. " Maria spoke as she noticed the bandage on his arm to be bleeding.
"I'm fine, just keep moving." Tommy stubbornly replied as he looks down foe more hostiles.
"We gotta keep moving, "Maria , despite her clear reluctant, agreed with Tommy. "Jesse, you need to cover us, you're the only one with the proper weapon to deal with them." The shotgun ammo was armor piercing, as she remembered hearing the Albino Weirdo saying that.
"Come on, we're not far." Tommy spoke and everyone decided to continue, mostly because they could hear the Faceless approaching.
Moving down the snowy path, Ellie could only think about what was happening back at that garage. Joel, please be okay... She practically begged, despite knowing how bad his injury was. I wonder if that Albino Weirdo is still alive. She wondered, because he didn't seem so good after getting slammed into that windshield.
Fox Boy:
Opening up his eyes, he realized that his vision was blurry and his ears had a noise on them. He also felt an immense pain on his back. With a strong light bring on his field of vision, the masked boy was confused. Mmmm... What happened? The Albino boy thought in confusion. Until he actually remembered. Oh, yes... Ghost Head slammed me into the windshield of a car. Thought as he felt the broken windshield pressing against his coat. I better get up. Fox Boy told himself.
However, it proved to be more difficult than he expected. Because his body felt incredibly heavy. It's like when Reaper tied those of weights on me and made me cross that desert barefooted. It was the best comparison that he had. "Mmmm..." Despite that, Fox Boy continued to try to get off of the broken windshield. "No pain...get up... must get up..." Fox Boy spoke to himself as he forced himself out of the broken windshield.
With him rolling and falling into the hard floor as soon as he managed. The pain of his back just got worse as a result of the fall. But Fox Boy just ignored the pain and rolled over once again. "Up... Up...Up..." He spoke in a barely audible voice as he tried to get up, but his arms kept failing to lift him up. After five attempts, he was able to stand up by placing his arm on the car for support. Unfortunately, the moment he attempted to take a step forward, he just fell back into the floor, hitting his face, or his mask to be more precise, on the ground, hard. My legs aren't working... So he decided to give up and just crawl.
The heavy blizzard was strong as ever as the cold wind was entering through the door.
Slowly, he made his way to the car that everyone was going to drive on it before Ghost Head showed up. Strangely, as he crawled, Fox Boy ended up passing by a pool of blood that unfortunately got into the right sleeve of his duffle coat. But he ignored.
As he gets closer to the car, however, he noticed something in front of the car. "Huh?" Confused, Fox Boy crawled closer to see what it was.
It was a couple of items that were on the floor in front of the car. One of the objects was his Schiavona. Wasn't this on Joel's back? Fox Boy asked himself in confusion as he remembers Ghost Head stabbing Joel with it. Maybe Joel managed to remove it, just like I did when I fell on it. That was his best theory, but considering the spot where he got stabbed, it was highly unlikely. He grabbed his sword and placed back on the scabbard on his hip.
Another object, was a handgun. Which caused Fox Boy to realize that his Walther P38 was gone. "No..." Fox Boy said it in a very sad voice. I don't have anything else of him. He thought sadly as that gun was the last thing he had of his brother. Looking down sadly, the albino boy thought about his late brother.
Bring me my rations. Get a move on! You're worse than a dog!
I told you to not touch my stuff, you goddamn animal!
Goddamn, we should have let mother drown you in that river!
He thought about it for a bit, but eventually, he decided to return to the task.
The handgun that was on the floor was a Heckler Koch Mark 23 or a SOCOM MK23. A semi-automatic large-frame pistol chambered in .45 ACP, designed specifically to be an offensive pistol. It had a Laser Aiming Module and a suppressor attached to it, alongside a magazine extension that added five more bullets to the twelve bullets that were inside the magazine. The pistol was inside a leg holster, which made Fox Boy realize that his hip holster was gone as well.
Having no other choice, Fox Boy took the Mark 23 and strapped the leg holster on his belt.. I don't like it, it's heavy and hard to use but without my Walther P38, I have no sidearm. Fox Boy thought before he moved to the last item.
A piece of paper with numbers on it. After looking at them for a bit, he saw that they were coordinates. It leads to that lumber mill where I spent the night after my first infiltration in Jackson. He remembered.
With the coordinates, Fox Boy decided to crawl towards the car. I am certain that it was Reaper that left me those coordinates, because the Mark 23 is his. Fox Boy tried to understand the reason but he couldn't.
Slowly, he crawled all the way towards the driver's seat of the car. Entering the vehicle with considerable difficulty. Once he managed to sit himself on the driver's seat, he reached for both his backpack and his FN2000, both were on the backseat.
Checking inside, he realized that the magazines of his Walther P38 were gone and instead, there were several Mark 23 magazines. Unfortunately, he also noticed that the armor piercing shotgun shells that he has brought from Jester's helicopter, were also gone. So was the ammunition of his F2000 as the magazines that he brought were now. empty. Reaper took all my ammo. That was his conclusion.
...
...
...
...
"Oh well..." He placed the backpack and the assault rifle on the backseat once again and proceeded to turn the car on.
With him accelerating the car and driving out of the garage right away. But once he was out, Fox Boy caught the sight of something awful, the sight of flames from afar with dark smoke coming from the large flames that were burning from a distance. They torched the town... Fox Boy thought sadly. What a shame, it was a nice place. Then he remembered Dina, Jesse, Ellie, Tommy and Maria. They are nice people, I don't want them to die. With that Fox Boy simply drove the car towards the destination of the coordinates.
Ellie Williams:
"There it is!" Dina yelled.
After a short but incredibly laboured walk, they finally arrived at the Lumber Mill. The place was considerably big but it was a mess and has been abandoned for decades. The rotten wood that was all over the place was a perfect example of that.
"Hurry!" Maria yelled at them as she quickly made her way to the entrance with Tommy.
Jesse fired the shotgun as they all rushed towards the Lumber Mill, moving back as they made their way inside, with Jesse closing the massive door behind them as soon as they were in.
"Holy..." Ellie said as soon as she saw what was inside.
"What..." Dina also said in confusion.
There were dead clickers all over the ground, around fifteen of them, by the looks of it, they were all killed by a blade.
"It was Fox Boy." Jesse pointed out as he approached the two.
"How do you know?" Ellie asked.
"They were killed a while ago and this looks like the cut that a sword would do." Jesse explained the logic behind his assumption.
"And I'm pretty sure he would be capable of killing all of them." Dina added. "Shit, I hope he's okay." Her girlfriend was visibly worried about that Albino Weirdo.
"Dina... He got slammed into a windshield by that armored monster, I don't think he's getting up from that." Ellie bluntly told Dina. She doesn't really care about Fox Boy, but Dina clearly does and it upset her to see her worry like that.
"And I disagree with you on that." Dina seemed to think the opposite.
"It doesn't matter, we gotta keep moving." Maria told them.
"To where?!" Ellie asked in clear distraught. "Those psychos are everywhere and I really can't handle that blizzard anymore." Her hands and feet feel like they're going numb.
"We nee..." Tommy was about to say something, but before he could his voice failed him and out if nowhere, he collapsed on the floor.
"Shit, Tommy!" Maria rushed to her husband, who passed out. "Dammit, his wound leaking." They could see the blood leaking into his jacket's sleeve
"Fuck, hold on." Dina reached inside of her backpack and pulled out an old T-shirt, that she ripped apart in order to make an improvised tourniquet.
"Apply pressure here." Maria instructed Dina as she grabbed the improvised tourniquet and wrapped around Tommy's arm.
Ellie and Jesse just stood there and watched. Until they actually heard a noise coming from the entrance, causing Ellie to aim her submachine gun and Jesse to aim his shotgun at it.
"We're fucking screwed." Ellie couldn't help but say it.
"Yes, we are" Jesse agreed.
The two friends simply stood there aiming their weapons and preparing to maybe face their end. Ellie moved her head to look back, catching the sight of the unconscious Tommy, a very worried Maria and a visibly frightened Dina.
Looking at her girlfriend, Ellie just had one thing to say. "I love you, Dina." Ellie confessed to her.
"I love you too." Dina said it back, while she looked at the entrance, anticipating the worst.
The loud noises coming from outside kept coming and coming, making them wonder if they are bring another fucked up infected to release on them.
After a whole minute passes by, Ellie had enough and decided to approach one of the windows to see what was happening.
"What are you doing?" Jesse asked her as he continued to aim at the door.
"Something is wrong." Ellie bluntly responded as she slowly approached the window.
"Oh shit..." Only to immediately crunch on the floor to hide as the giant called Ghost Head was right outside. Alongside ten men.
He was yelling something that Ellie couldn't hear. It seemed like he was giving them orders. After observing them for a bit, Ghost Head walked past all of them and...
Is he leaving? Ellie asked herself as he walks away through the same direction which they came. However, as he walked away, a dozen more of those armored freaks appeared, with Ghost Head walking passed them as they approached the Lumber Mill. "Fuck..." Ellie cursed as she noticed that they were surrounding the place. Ellie ran back to her friends. "Good news, the big guy is gone, bad news, more of those armored freaks came and are now surrounding the place." She informed them.
"Dammit." Jesse immediately searched the area to check if they were going to get inside.
"What are we going to do?!" Dina asked as she also aimed the submachine gun around.
"We're gonna have to hold it until we see an opening." Maria spoke as she removed her coat to make an improvised pillow for Tommy. Then she stood up with the assault rifle at hand.
Ellie knew that wasn't really a plan, but they had no choice. All that they could do was try to stay alive.
Or that was what she thought
Twenty minutes passed by and absolutely nothing happened. They didn't barged in and shoot them, they didn't sneak inside and tried to take them by surprise, they didn't even tried to see the place on fire.
Instead, they all just stayed outside, like they were guarding the place or something.
"What the fuck are they even doing?" Ellie asked in deep confusion.
The four of them were looking at a window, observing them to try to figure it out what exactly were they up to.
"I think they are just making sure that we can't get out." Jesse presented his theory.
"But why?" Dina asked.
"They are clearly waiting for something." Maria told them.
"Maybe they are waiting for the big guy to come back." Dina suggested in clear fear.
"If that's the case we gotta get out here." Ellie said since she thinks the same thing.
"How?" Jesse asked. "The place is completely surrounded, we're gonna get gunned down the moment we stepped outside."
"Jesse is right, and with Tommy like that, It's gonna be impossible to run." Maria pointed out.
"Them what?! What the fuck are we going to do?!" Ellie asked in frustration. "Wait for whatever they are waiting for?!"
"Ellie, I don't like this either, but I am not leaving Tommy." Maria stated to her. "All that we can do now, is wait for an opening."
"What kind of opening can we possibly expect in this situation?" Ellie asked.
Fox Boy:
Slowly, Fox Boy drove the car towards the coordinates that were left by Reaper. Driving down an street that gave him a clean path towards the destination.
Eventually, he was forced to stop, since the location was blocked by a couple of trees. It's a short walk that way, through the dark woods. Fox Boy thought as he prepared to exit the car. Taking only his backpack and the handgun. His assault rifle had no ammunition and it turns out that Reaper took all of the ammunition of his revolver as well, meaning that his only firearm at the moment was the MK23 SOCOM.
Fox Boy then opened the door, leaving the car on in order to keep the engine warm. The albino boy then stepped out of the car. Only to fall forward into the snow as soon as he tried to stand on his feet. "Come on... Legs, I really need you to work now." Fox Boy said it as he forced himself to stand up. "Pretty please..." He said it as he stumbled a bit. Thankfully, he managed to stand on his feet. Slowly taking a step forward. "Thank you."
The masked boy then proceeded to move forward in order to get to the destination. The snow was stronger than ever, falling on him hard, but Fox Boy simply ignored the cold just like he was ignoring the pain on his back, chest, shoulder and stomach. I wonder if Dina's leg, Ellie's shoulder and Tommy's arm and leg are better. He thought as he continued to move forward. I hope they're on the destination, I miss them. He really wants to hug Dina again.
Eventually, Fox Boy arrived at the coordinates destination, which was the lumber mill that he stayed a few nights ago. Observing the place for a bit, Fox Boy saw that there were a considerable amount of Faceless surrounding the place.
He crouched down and hid behind a tree. Observing them from afar, Fox Boy could tell that they were guarding the place, no one gets in or out. Why? Fox Boy really doesn't understand why. Dina, Jesse, Maria, Tommy and Ellie must be inside but why are they being kept in there instead of being executed. The confused boy could only question the situation. Ghost Head isn't here either...
Despite his confusion, Fox Boy knew what he had to do. So he stood up and pulled the MK23 out of his holster , holding it in a Center Axis Relock stance.
Wasting no time, he moved forward. The Faceless were patrolling area in a unorthodox pattern. Which allowed Fox Boy to approach with no much trouble. Slowly, he got close to the right side of the Lumber Mill, where three Faceless were keeping guard due to the number of windows above that could be used as an escape route.
Fox Boy got close but not too close, otherwise he would be spotted. Instead, he laid on the floor and covered himself with snow. "Grrrrrr!" Then he proceeded the imitate the sound of a stage one infected. "Rrrrrrrrrr!"
It worked as the Faceless immediately moved towards his direction to inspect the noise. The three moved in perfect conjunction while holding their MP5.
The moment they got close enough. Fox Boy emerged from the snow and charged towards them. They were all standing next to one another, with Fox Boy drawing his knife and stabbing the Faceless that was standing in the middle of the trio on the throat. He pushed his head up using the hand that was holding the handgun and shoved the knife into the gap on his neck. With the knife now lunged into his throat, Fox Boy pushed him towards the Faceless that was on the right while simultaneously firing at the one on the left by firing the gun from his torso. The bullets were enough to stunt the Faceless thanks to the 45. ACP caliber. The moment Fox Boy collided the body of the Faceless that he stabbed with the Faceless that was on right, he wasted no time and the moment the dead body fell on the ground, he closed the distance and delivered a Dead Tree Drop by grabbing his leg with one arm while pushing him onto his back. And once the Faceless was on the ground, Fox Boy mounted him, pushed his head into the ground and shot him on the neck. Then he fired his handgun backwards towards the last Faceless that was standing.
Unfortunately, despite the fact that it hit his torso, he was able to take the impact and aimed his MP5 at Fox Boy.
With Fox Boy rolling to the left while simultaneously grabbing the MP5 of the Faceless that he just killed. Managing to evade the shots as he opened fire at him. Rolling and laying on his back he dropped his handgun for a second and proceeded to shoot the MP5 aiming at the Faceless head.
The headshots were enough to stunt him, giving Fox Boy enough time to stand up and close the distance, unloading the submachine by firing at the Faceless head at close range.
Sadly, by doing that, he ended up warning the Faceless of his presence. So he dropped the MP5 and rushed the recover his knife and handgun.
Ellie Williams:
"What was that!?" Ellie asked as she moved her head to the left.
"Gunfire." Jesse pointed out the obvious.
"They're probably killing Runners." Maria suggested.
Dina made a face that indicated that she didn't seem to think it was what Maria suggested.
Fox Boy:
As the Faceless rushed after him, Fox Boy took cover behind a tree as two of them fired at him.
Eventually, five more appeared and joined the duo, approaching the tree that he was taking cover. Fox Boy's response, was to reach for the fragmentation grenade and the smoke grenade, pulling the pin of both.
As the fire at him, Fox Boy timed explosion, when there was a second left, he tossed both grenades at the same time. With both of them exploding as he took cover behind the tree, but once the explosion came, he got out of the cover and charged.
Ellie Williams:
"Holy..." Dina got startled by the explosion.
"Why are they using grenades on Runners?!" Jesse asked.
"Okay, I don't think they are dealing with Runners." Maria changed her mind
"Then what the fuck are they trying to kill?" Ellie asked.
Fox Boy:
Once he closed the distance, Fox Boy proceed to deliver a knee stomp at the first Faceless he approached, before he grabbed the back of his head and pressed the barrel of his gun and pulled the trigger.
The second Faceless tried to point his MP5 at him, but Fox Boy responded by striking his throat with the tip of the suppressor before kicking his shin with the tip of his boot and shooting his throat.
Then he fired at the third Faceless as he rushed towards him, where he grabbed the MP5 and striked the stock on his face, before delivering a hip throw.
Once he was down, Fox Boy fired at the fourth Faceless using the submachine gun one handed, firing at point blank at his head, which was enough to penetrate the mask. Before he turned around and finished the Faceless that was on the ground by firing the remaining ammunition at point blank as well.
The moment it ran out of ammunition, Fox Boy tossed the gun at the fifth Faceless. With the gun landing on his head and Fox Boy drawing his knife and stabbing his throat with it. Reaching for the fragmentation grenade on his belt and pulling the pin before pulling his knife off his throat.
After that, he pushed him towards the sixth Faceless, and stepped to the side as the fragmentation grenade went off, blowing up right at the Faceless's face.
With the knife still on his left hand, Fox Boy flipped upside down and threw it at the last Faceless standing. The mask protected him against bladed weapons, but just like bullets, he still felt the impact. So , as soon as the knife landed on his face, Fox Boy charged at him and slides on the snow and performed an Sickle Sweep in order to get him to the ground. The moment the Faceless fell, Fox Boy then reached for his knife while simultaneously firing at the Faceless's head with his handgun as he stood up. But then, he mounted him and stabbed his neck with the knife.
However, more of them appeared.
Ellie Williams:
"Okay, I had enough of this." Dina spoke as she limped towards the window.
"Hey, stop!" Jesse yelled as it was too dangerous to be near the window.
"Dina, stay away from the window!" Ellie yelled at her girlfriend.
But Dina just ignored them and approached the window. "Holy shit!" She said as she saw what was outside.
"What?!" Ellie rushed to the window after Dina said that. "You got to be fucking kidding me..." That was the only thing that she could say after looking out the window.
Fox Boy:
Charging into another Faceless and grabbing him into a clinch, before he transitioned to his back in order to use his body as a shield as another Faceless attempts to shoot him. As the bullets land on the body armor, Fox Boy pushed the Faceless that he was clinching towards the one that was firing at him, while firing his handgun at him. After making the two of them collide, Fox Boy drew his knife in a reverse grip and stabbed the side of the neck of the Faceless that he was pushing, before pulling the knife out and doing the same thing to the one that was in front of him.
Ellie Williams:
"How the fuck can he still do that after getting slammed into a car?!" Ellie asked in complete shock as he watched the Albino Weirdo easily dispatch the armored freaks with very little difficulty.
"Doesn't matter, I'm just glad he's here." Dina spoke as they watched him running from the Faceless while firing a different handgun backwards in a side grip.
Fox Boy:
Reloading the Mark 23 and placing the empty magazine inside of one of the pouches on his vest as he took cover. Fox Boy prepared to face the remaining Faceless. Moving his head out of cover for a second, he saw that there were four Faceless left.
As the get close to the tree, Fox Boy placed the handgun back on his holster and proceeded to climb the tree, until he reached the top. As soon as he got up there, the Faceless reached the tree and attempted to fire at him. Firing in prefect synchronization at the spot where he was taking cover. The problem is, Fox Boy wasn't there and he just observed as they unloaded their weapons at the tree.
But once they ran out of ammo, they attempted to reload at the same time. Which Fox Boy exploited by jumping out of the tree at that moment.
The moment his feet touched the floor, Fox Boy charged towards the Faceless.
The first thing he did once he closed the distance between himself and them. Was grab the first Faceless that was on his way and perform a spring hip throw on him. Then he moved to the Faceless that was on his left and performed a Corner drop. Before he moved to the Faceless that was on his right and performed a Lift-pull foot sweep. After that, he turned around and charged at the last Faceless standing, grabbing him and performing a body drop.
Once the albino boy threw the last Faceless into the ground, he quickly moved backwards in order to get away from them. Because at the end of each throw, Fox Boy actually reached for the grenade on their hips and pulled the safety pins of all of them. It took a few seconds, but as they all stood up from the ground, all of the grenades exploded almost in conjunction. Killing the four of them.
Ellie Williams:
"What?!" Ellie asked in confusion. "Did they just exploded?!"
"He pulled the safety pins of the grenades after throwing them in the ground." Jesse, who was also by the window, pointed out.
"Seriously?!" Dina asked in surprise. "He threw them on the ground so fast that I couldn't even notice. " She wasn't exaggerating, the speed which he delivered those throws were abnormal, the Faceless could barely react to it.
Looking at the outside, they searched for more of them. But saw no sign whatsoever of any left. The only one outside now was the Albino Weirdo. Who was walking around in that weird robotic walk of his. Until he fell into one knee out of nowhere.
"Dammit..." Dina moved towards the door as soon as he fell.
"Hey!" Jesse yelled.
"Don't open the door!" Ellie yelled as well.
Maria didn't say anything, she just continued to inspect her unconscious husband that was on the floor.
Dina ignored all of them and limped towards the door. Opening it and stepping outside as soon as she got close.
Fox Boy:
After dispatching the Faceless, Fox Boy tried to move towards the Lumber Mill, but his leg failed him and he fell to one knee. "Pretty, pretty please..." He pleaded as he tried to stand up.
However, he suddenly heard the sound of steps moving towards him. Moving his head to the left, he saw that it was Dina. He smiled, but the mask covered. "Hi Dina." He waved happily towards the pretty girl.
"Hi." Dina held his arm and proceed to help his stand slowly. "Are you okay?"
"My back really hurts and my legs keep buckling." Fox Boy explained to her in a very casual tone. "I missed you." He confessed.
Dina giggled. "Missed you too." She then searched around the area before grabbing his arm. "Come on."
Dina then led the albino boy towards the Lumber Mill.
Ellie Williams:
"Hi Jesse." The Albino Weirdo waved happily at Jesse as soon as he passed through the door. "Hi Ellie." Before doing the same thing with Ellie. "Hi Maria." And then Maria.
"Hey." Jesse greeted him back.
Ellie on the other hand, just had one question for him. "What happened to Joel?!" That was her main concern.
"I don't know." He answered.
But Ellie didn't like the answer. "What the fuck do you mean with that?!"
"That I don't know." He gave a blunt answer, clearly not understanding the question.
Ellie was about to yell at him but Dina shaked her head. "What... Happened after you woke up, back at the garage?" She asked him.
"I rolled over to get out of the broken windshield, fell on the floor, tried to stand up but I fell on my face, then I crawled towards the car, found a note with the location, my Schiavona and a Heckler Koch Mark 23 on the floor, so I took it, entered the car and drove here." He gave an unnecessary summary of everything he did before he got there.
But a detail stood out to everyone. "The car, where is it!?" Maria, who just stood up from the ground, asked him.
"Road, that way." He pointed to the right after answering.
"We gotta go." Maria immediately told them.
But Ellie was still not satisfied. "Joel! Did you saw Joel there when you woke up!?" She yelled at him to ask that, because she needed to know.
"No, I actually looked for him, but didn't saw him anywhere." Fox Boy finally gave a clear answer. "I think Reaper got him."
That, of course, surprised everyone.
"How do you know?" Jesse asked him.
He pulled out a considerably large handgun that had a weird blocky looking thing under the barrel that looked like a flashlight or lasersight from his holster. "I found this in front of the car, it's one of Reaper's guns." He explained.
"We can't leave Joel with these people!" Ellie was quick to speak.
"What the hell are we going to do?!" Jesse asked her. "We're no match to this people."
"Jesse is right," Dina agreed with Jesse. " I wish we could help Joel, but I really think it would be suicide to go against his people." Despite the fact that Ellie was upset by what she said, she knew that it was true.
Ellie sighed in deep frustration, because the idea of leaving Joel behind was unthinkable. But Tommy needed help and none of them were really in shape to fight.
Dina affectionately touched her shoulder. "I'm so, so, sorry... But there's no other way." Ellie just looked at her sadly.
"Jesse, Fox Boy, help me please." Maria requested as she wanted their help to carry the unconscious Tommy.
"No need." Jesse said as he handed the shotgun to Fox Boy. Then he moved towards Tommy. "Okay, one, two, three!" Then he lifted Tommy off the floor and put him in a fireman carry.
"Come on, we need to get to the car before -" Maria spoke as she moved towards the door. "What the?!" But the moment he looked at it, he saw something happening outside.
Looking back, the two girlfriends saw gigantic cloud of dark smoke from a distance. It was accompanied by a strange looking light.
"What is that?" Dina asked Fox Boy.
"Jackson being torched. " He bluntly answered.
The atmosphere felt incredibly heavy after he said that. With all of them staring at it in outer disbelief as the idea of their home being up inflames was unbelievable.
Maria closed her eyes, took a deep breath and sighed. "Come on, we need to go." She was trying to keep her composure but it was clear that she was overwhelmed.
Jesse, who was carrying Tommy, nodded and moved forward with Maria leading the way.
Ellie, Dina and Fox Boy were alone inside of the Lumber Mill. With Fox Boy expecting the shotgun to check how many bullets were there.
"We have to go." Dina told Ellie.
Ellie sighed in deep frustration.
Suddenly, the Albino Weirdo suddenly touched Dina's shoulder.
"What?" Dina asked.
He held the shotgun tightly and said. "Ghost Head is here."
Just hearing that, was enough to terrify the two girlfriends. With them turning around and widening their eyes of the sight of the armored giant accompanied by more of those armored soldiers.
Before they could react, Ghost Head lifted his machine gun.
"Get down." Fox Boy calmly spoke as he pushed the two girls into the floor and proceeded to run to the left. The moment Ellie and Dina fell, Ghost Head proceeded to fire at the Lumber Mill. But he fired towards the direction which Fox Boy was running.
"Fuck!" Ellie cursed as she shielded Dina as the bullets passed through the wall like it was nothing. It continued for a few seconds until he stopped.
"Ogon!" She heard Ghost Head speak something in another language.
"What did he just said?!" Dina, who gently pushed Ellie off of her, asked Fox Boy.
"He said "Fire"." Fox Boy replied calmly. "Get away from the entrance." He told them.
Before they could question why, the wall exploded right in front of Fox Boy, sending him flying backwards and sliding on the floor.
"Oh shit!" Ellie yelled as she helped Dina stand and the two quickly moved away from the walls as more explosions occur in parts of it. Moving her head to look at one of the holes it caused, Ellie saw on of the armored soldiers carrying a grenade launcher. "Run!" She yelled at her girlfriend.
Fox Boy, who was on the floor, immediately started rolling to the left in order to get away from the line of fire. Getting behind a couple rotten logs of wood for cover.
Ellie and Dina on the other hand, moved until they reached some stairs. Desperately climbing as another explosion occured at the celling.
Fox Boy, continued to take cover behind the logs of wood, until he rushed to his left in order to reach another couple of logs of woods, doing a dive roll and taking cover once again. It turned out to be the right idea as Ghost Head fired at him once again.
Thankfully, the two girls were out of the line of fire due to being on the second floor. Ellie desperately, searched for a way out of there, fortunately, she found one.
Fox Boy continued to take cover as Ghost Head shoots his machine gun, with bullets flying all over the first floor. But eventually, it stopped, probably because he ran out of ammo. Once that happened Fox Boy stood up and started to fire the shotgun while he moves to the left. Allowing him to reach the stairs that Ellie and Dina climbed.
"Come on!" Dina yelled as Fox Boy reached the top.
"Here!" Ellie yelled at them as she ran towards a window.
The three of them moved towards the window as more explosions occured on Lumber Mill, Fox boy then aimed the shotgun and fire at it to get it open.
Ellie looked outside and realized that it was a considerable fall, but there was a lot of snow on the ground. Before she could say anything, Fox Boy immediately jumped out of the window and landed on the snow.
"Dammit..." Dina followed behind him, despite being visibly reluctant. Falling on top of the snow and being helped up by him.
Ellie wasted no time and followed behind the two as several explosions occured behind her. Falling on top of the snow and being helped up by Dina.
"That way." Fox Boy told them as he pointed to the right. But as he did, a Faceless appeared from the side of the Lumber Mill. Only for Fox Boy to fire at him with the shotgun. "Out." Which turned out to be the last shot.
"Move!" Ellie yelled.
Dina attempted to fire at them with the submachine gun, making Ellie realize that she dropped hers when she shielded Dina earlier. So she pulled out her handgun and started to shoot. Fox Boy also pulled out his handgun and started to fire as they ran.
Passing through trees as the heavy blizzard fell upon them. They could hear the number of people that were after them, it didn't took long for them to hear gun fire.
They were barely avoiding the the shots by getting behind trees, with the three of them shooting as they did. But Ellie didn't know why they were bothering, because it clearly had no effect.
But that didn't matter, because it didn't took long for them to reach the road. "Hurry!" Maria, who was at the driver's seat, yelled.
Tommy was in the back, still unconscious. Jesse was outside and immediately rushed to help them.
"Come on!" Jesse grabbed Dina and helped her get in the car.
Ellie moved around and got into the front seat right besides Maria.
Fox Boy continued to fire, until he ran out of ammo and decided to get into the car. Sitting right besides Ellie in the front seat.
Jesse was the last one to enter, sitting right besides Dina. "Go! Go! Go!" He yelled as he saw the Faceless approaching.
With Ghost Head being right behind them.
With that, Maria stepped on it and speeded out of the place as fast as the car allowed.
Ellie, who was trying to recover her breath, looked back. Only to see the giant called Ghost Head reaching the street and standing there menacingly. With Ellie not understanding why he wasn't shooting at them.
Fox Boy:
To dream the impossible dream
Two whole hours had passed, with Maria driving the car as quickly as she possibly could.
To fight the unbeatable foe
The ride was quiet with no one saying a word.
To bear with unbearable sorrow
Fox Boy sutured Tommy's wound again, after he disinfected the wound using a first-aid kit that Maria grabbed from Jester's helicopter. Tommy was still unconscious though, because he lost a considerable amount of blood.
And to run where the brave dare not go
After doing that, Fox Boy grabbed his walkman and decided to listen to some music.
To right the unrightable wrong
Maria was watching the road with deep concentration.
And to love pure and chaste from afar
Jesse simply sat there with a sad face.
To try when your arms are too weary
Dina was simply looking at the window.
To reach the unreachable star
Ellie was sitting besides him with her arms folded, looking incredibly upset.
This is my quest
Fox Boy just sat there, quietly, watching the road as the song echoed through his ears.
To follow that star
But for a split second, he looked down. And ended up noticing something, something that was sticking out of the glove compartment.
No matter how hopeless
Opening in order to check it, Fox Boy came across three items. A broken watch, a revolver and a photograph.
No matter how far
Picking the photography up, he notices that it was a photography of Joel. He was a blond girl in a grass field wearing a strange outfit and carrying sometype of trophy.
To fight for the right
Not understanding what is that doing there, Fox Boy looked behind the photo and noticed that something was written there.
ミラーはトランクの中にいます。 私はあなたの剣で彼の心臓を刺しました。 可能であれば、適切な埋葬をしてください。
Without question or pause
"Oh... No..." Fox Boy spoke as he removed the headphones from his ears.
"What?" Ellie asked as she moved her head to look at him. Only for her to widened her eyes when she saw what was in his hand. "Where did you get that."
"In the glove compartment." Fox Boy answered.
"What's going on?" Jesse asked.
"Joel is dead." Fox Boy bluntly told them.
...
...
...
There was a short silence before someone spoke.
"How do you know?" Dina asked.
"Reaper wrote "I stabbed him in the heart with your sword." in the back of the photo." He explained.
"Are you fucking kidding with us?!" Ellie yelled at him while grabbed the collar of his coat.
"Hey, stop!" Jesse immediately grabbed Ellie's arm to make her let go of Fox Boy.
"Ellie, stop!" Maria joined in. "Was there something else written in the back of the photo?" Maria asked as she also grabbed Ellie's arm.
"Yes." Fox Boy confirmed.
"What?!" Ellie yelled to ask him.
"It said, "Mr. Miller is in the trunk."" Fox Boy revealed to them.
Everyone just looked at him. With Ellie looking at Maria with a strange face. Maria looked back before she stopped the car.
With that, both Maria and Ellie got out of the car and moved towards the back of the car. Jesse and Dina looked at one another with similar faces before they moved out of the car as well.
Leaving Fox Boy and a unconscious Tommy alone in the car. Not knowing what to do, he put the headphones back on.
And the world will be better for this
All that he could do, was watch the back through the car mirror.
That one man, strong and covered with scars
Only to see Ellie fall into her knees after they opened the trunk of the car.
Still strove with his last ounce of courage
Maria, Jesse and Dina... All seemed really upset.
To fight the unbeatable foe
Dina and Jesse kneeled down and hugged Ellie.
To reach the unreachable star
Fox Boy could do nothing but see Ellie cry.
Q AND A:
The current situation is very sad. It was a scene full of various emotions. Excited, desperate, and sad. The events in the story are extremely hopeless. Had it not been for Fox Boy and Joel's sacrifice, Ellie's crew would have all been killed without even a chance to escape. At least the events of this episode let us know about the previous fox boy what happened to him. It's so sad Ghost heads are extremely dangerous people. and dreadfully mentally ill
- Joel's departure this time seemed meaningful, Joel. more than in the game In the game it was something WTF. When I read it I had tears in my eyes. It was touching and felt that he sacrificed so much for Ellie. Especially the scene where Joel meets Sarah again. Unconsciously, tears came out of my eyes.
- The scene in which the Reaper says to Joel "From one father to another" reveals that Reaper is very human. Now it makes me want to know more about what kind of society in Normandy was like.
- After this, if the fox boy meets with Ellie's group, the situation will be tense. Ellie should be immersed in resentment like in the game, but this time the situation should be very different.
If we didn't meet today good afternoon good evening and good ning too
This time, he died in peace, despite the circumstances.
Reaper isn't really evil, he's just broken beyond repair and is waiting for someone to put him out of his misery.
Her resentment will be target towards the Masked Ones. Primarily, Reaper and Ghost Head.
Same.
Obrigado pelo capítulo incrível Autor-San!
De nada, meu amigo .
You know I'll think about translating all that Russian Ghost Head and Fox Boy where speaking later haha
Credit to Fox Boy as well for knowing exactly what Ghost Head would do
So with Fox's brother while he tried to escape with who ever his lover was I imagine part of him trying to flee was he knew his days in the Normandies where numbered due to him being compared to Fox Boy and being found lacking
Nice seeing a glimmer of the paternal feelings Reaper has for Fox Boy likely something the original Fox also had and like Reaper being the first to mention the trails he put Fox Boy through should have either broken him or killed him but neither happened and so I think aside from giving him hope Reaper just admires Fox Boys spirit
But um thank you I guess for the emotional punch in the gut and ass kicking that was Joel's death that hit me but at least it was I don't know more dignified than his death at the hands of that bitch Abby
While the "reunion" with Sarah was sweet the end of Joel does hurt
Ghost Head is basically describing how he killed Fox Boy's brother, his brother's girlfriend and his nephew and niece.
Reaper is a man of his words. Ghost Head isn't.
His brother was a good for nothing scumbag that abused both him and his girlfriend. (Think of Viserys and Daenerys, that's how he was with Fox Boy.) He was nothing more than a liability.
Pretty much, everything that Reaper did to Fox Boy was to see if he would break, he never did.
Unfortunately, Ellie's hate will stay the same only directed to much more dangerous foes.
I'm glad you like it.
When will Ellie let go of her hatred for Fox Boy
When she's forced to spend time with him.
That was a rough chapter, I expected Fox Boy and Joel to put a better fight, but it is as it is. If Ghost Head is known to overstep, will disobey and pursue Ellie, Dina, Jesse, Tommy and Maria?
Joel dying, it is bad, no doubt Ellie and Tommy will be great sadden by it. But at least Abby doesn't get to do it, she'll be very upset about her revenge being denied and she will get no sympathy from me on that. So she and her crew show up at Jackson finding the place in ruins, and eventually runs into the group and learning Joel is dead. Since Joel wasn't killed by Abby, the groups have little to no reason to be hostile to each other. They might be worried that the people who destroyed Jackson might come after Settle next though.
Isaac Dixon is not usually accepting of outsiders but, who knows, he might give Fox Boy and the group a chance to earn their keep
They just didn't had what it takes to face Ghost Head. Ghost Head doesn't disobey Reaper.
Basically.
No, but if he sees them as assets in his war, he might make an exception. (Issac will want to keep at least Fox Boy around.)
