Ricardo breathes in and out quietly as he sprawls out over the couch, arms wrapped loosely around Alicia's waist. She's fast asleep in his arms, the softly flickering lights from the Christmas tree gleaming gently over her skin. He didn't think it was possible, but she looks even more beautiful than usual, resting so peacefully in his arms. Sofia is moving quietly around in the kitchen, putting away leftovers from their Christmas meal, and he catches sight of her now and again with a small smile on his face. "Andre's first Christmas," he murmurs, thinking about their little boy's sleepy regard of the tree, a little bow Alicia had let him twist his fingers in momentarily, and the new toys and clothes he'd gotten.
2020 had been far from a good year, but he hopes 2021 slowly starts the healing process in a number of ways. He thinks there's hope at any rate, his thoughts moving slowly towards more cheerful topics as he glances down at Alicia once more and brushes his fingers through her hair, kissing her forehead. She'll be leaving soon, for the first time since Andre's birth, because WWE had invited her to a legend's night in a couple of weeks, and she has to quarantine for a few days before it, then spend a couple of weeks at Mike's guest house like he has done quite a few times in the past.
He hopes it goes well for her, aware of how difficult two weeks without being able to hold Andre or see any of them past video chats can be. Hopes that WWE gives her at least something fun to do, other than just being another novelty face to be seen in some random backstage group setting. He sighs and kisses her forehead, tilting his head back and once more regarding the Christmas tree with a small smile. "I think all in all, we did pretty damn good this year," he whispers, glancing back down at her.
She hums and shifts in her sleep, pressing her face against his shoulder, and his smile grows. When Sofia joins them quietly a couple of minutes later, settling in a chair across from the tree, their eyes meet and she beams at him, curling up in a blanket and sipping from a warm mug of hot cocoa.
It's so homey and calm, the three of them just enjoying the peace and quiet of post-holiday daze. Ricardo sometimes still can't believe his life's become this, once so painful and drama-filled. He wouldn't trade it for anything.
