Chapter 7: Fee-fi-fo-fum (4/4)
Ellie Williams:
"Jump!"
Ellie and Maria realized way too late that this was all just a trap. Once the grenades that were downstairs went off, loud explosions were heard by the two women. That just got worse as the room was filled up with smoke. The smoke was just too strong and there was no way they could go back through where they came.
So they had no choice but to go through the window of that room. However, the only way out was jumping down to the back yard where that infection that they never saw before was.
Since Ellie was the one with the submachine gun, she decided to jump down first. "Ah!" With her grunting as she landed on her feet. "Eeeh!"
"Rrrr..." Coming face to face with that infected as soon as she moved her head up.
Ellie wasted no time and fired the submachine gun from her hip. She would have preferred to shoot it from the window, but the smoke was just too much.
The infected was just a few steps away from her, so most, if not all, the shots landed on it. With the disturbing looking red spots that resembled red eyes bursting at each shot. Until Ellie ran out of ammo.
"AAARRR!" With the thing roaring like an animal afterwards.
Before Ellie could properly react, Maria jumped down from the window as well and to her surprise, shot the infected with a sawed-off shotgun.
With the 12-gauge sending the infected onto the ground. With Maria approaching it and pressing the shotgun into the infected's head and delivering a second shot at point blank. Which was enough to practically destroy the infected strange head by shattering it into pieces.
"What the fuck is that thing?" Ellie asked while approaching it.
"It's a Devil's Tooth." Maria told her as she took out the shells of the double barrel shotgun.
"A what?" Ellie asked in confusion.
"I didn't pay attention earlier, but now I can tell." Maria pointed out as she inspected closer. "The devil's tooth is a type of fungus, mostly known for these red things that look like eyes."
"Wait a minute?!" Ellie didn't like what she just heard. "So... There is another fungus like cordyceps?!"
"As far as I know, it isn't like the cordyceps at all." Maria was quick to respond to that question. "But we better ask Fox Boy since he probably knows more about it." Since that Albino Weirdo is the only one with an actual explanation.
Maria then searched around that backyard, which was strangely well-kept in comparison to the rest of that house. There was a table with an umbrella, a barbecue grill and a...
"What is that?" Ellie asked as she pointed towards their left, a few steps away from the grill. There was some kind of briefcase on the ground, a very strange looking briefcase that seemed to be completely out of place.
Maria simply gave Ellie a worried look before she pulled out her pistol and slowly approached it. Ellie followed behind her, on the edge since that psycho clown probably left it there and they probably won't like what is inside.
Fox Boy:
The cold was suffocating and his body felt like it was going to fall apart. All he could do was breath, cold and sharp breaths that made his internal organs hurt. He wanted to close his eyes and pass out again, but he wanted to stay awake.
I have... To... Help... Jesse... That was what was the only thing on mind at the moment.
Slowly, he fell forward and proceeded to crawl on the snow covered ground. Forcing himself to move by using his last piece of energy as the snow overwhelmed him. Move...Move...Move...Move...Move... Those were the words echoing in his brain, functioning purely in performing it's task like a machine. There are times when Fox Boy wished he was just a machine, designed to accomplish a task. But he wasn't, he was made of meat and bone, damaged meat and broken bones to be more specific.
"Hmm..." Eventually, he reached one of the houses that he woke up near. "Mmmm..." He slowly placed his hand on one of the walls and used it for support in order to force himself to stand up. Ignoring his pain as he always does and slowly getting up.
Moving his head up, he saw that the other Bloader was down. Making him relieved that it was over.
Jesse was still where he was, tied up to the pole, trying to break free from his restraints. He attempted to move forward to help him, but the moment he stopped using the wall for support, he fell forward into the ground once again. I guess I'll just crawl
... Realizing that staying on his feet wasn't possible, he decided to just crawl towards Jesse.
"Dammit!" Jesse cursed as he attempted to break free but it was pointless. "DAMMIT!" While screaming very loud.
Once Fox Boy got close enough, he said. "Hi Jesse." With considerable difficulty.
Jesse didn't seem to have heard him and continued to struggle to break free. Fox Boy then remembered that Jester fired a .50 action express next to his ear, which definitely caused hearing damage.
"Hmm..." Fox Boy decided to get his attention by making a snowball and weakly tossing at him.
"Ahh!" It landed on his thigh. "What the?!" He looked down and realized that Fox Boy was on the ground. "Hey!"
"Can you hear me?" Fox Boy asked him in order to try to see if he was correct about the hearing damage. "You might have hearing damage from the gunshot."

"I can't hear anything!" Jesse yelled loudly. "My ears are ringing like hell!" He was grinding his teeth , visibly feeling pain from his ears.
Fox Boy decided to take a good look at the pole that Jesse was tied to. He was restrained by strong rope, which was odd since Jester had a preference for chains. But it made things easier.
"What are you doing?!" Jesse asked as Fox Boy turned around and began to crawl to the opposite direction. "Hey!" Fox Boy continued to crawl until he reached the back of the house on the left. Because there was a window there.
Once he was close enough, he reached inside his backpack and pulled out the STANAG Magazine. Then he approached the window and used the wall to stand up once again.
As soon as he was on his feet, he smashed the window using the magazine in order to break it. After breaking it though, he actually grabbed one of the glass pieces from it and once again fell down on the snow. Crawling all the way back to Jesse, who was just staring at him in confusion.
But the moment he reached the pole where Jesse was tied on, he used in order to stand up again and used the broken glass to cut the rope. It took a few minutes but he eventually managed to cut Jesse loose.
"Ahhhh..." Jesse grunted as he touched his ears in pain. "COME ON!" Before yelling out loud. "I CAN'T HEAR ANYTHING!" He turned around to face Fox Boy. There was a big bruise in his face and his head was bleeding. Fox Boy let go of the pole and attempted to step forward but ended up falling forward once again. "HEY!" Jesse grabbed him before he fell, but his weight caused the two of them to fall down to their knees, "HANG ON!" He continued to yell due to his hearing damage, but he noticed that Fox Boy was injured.
Fox Boy was really tired, he wasn't going to pass out again, but his body felt really heavy.
"Hey!" However, he removed his head from Jesse's shoulder to look behind him after hearing a familiar voice. Only for him to see Dina and Tommy rushing towards them.
"Hi-" Fox Boy attempted to greet the two of them by waving and saying to him like he always does. But the moment he attempted to do that, he felt an uncontrollable urge to vomit. So he lifted his mask to expose his mouth. "BLETTCH!" And vomited on the ground.
"Ahh!" Jesse grunted in disgust. "Are you-" However, he widened his eyes the moment he looked at it.
"Oh my god!" Dina reacted the same and covered her mouth in response.
"Jesus..." Tommy was the next one to react.
The reason behind their reactions was the fact that Fox Boy just vomited blood, clear confirmation of his internal bleeding. Once he was done, he took a deep breath and turned his head to face the trio. With his mouth covered in blood and vomit, he decided to continue where he left off. "Hi Dina." By greeting both Dina and Tommy. "Hi Tommy."
Doing that, caused Jesse to turn around and realize that they were there. "HEY!" And he yelled at the two of them. "THERE IS NO BOMB, THAT CLOWN BASTARD LIED!"
"Why are you yelling?" Dina asked him in confusion.
"Jester fired a .50 Action Express cartridge next to his ear, causing hearing damage." Fox Boy explained while feeling a considerable amount of weight in his head. Which he responded by unintentionally resting his head on Jesse's shoulder.
"HEY, HOLD ON!" With Jesse reacting to it right away.
"Is he gonna be deaf because of it?!" Dina asked Tommy in deep worry as she immediately kneeled down next to the two of them.
"I don't think he is going to get deaf , but the chance of severe damage to his hearing is very likely." Tommy explained to her as he inspected his surroundings. "Huh?" Then he noticed the dead bloader.
"What the hell happened?" Dina asked as she pulled a piece of cloth from her jacket's pocket and used it to wipe the blood off Fox Boy's mouth.
"Jester knocked the two of us unconscious." Fox Boy answered her question. "When I woke up, Jesse was restrained to this pole with two stage four infected near him."
"Wait, what?" Tommy seemed surprised with his answer. "Were those two bloaters alive when you woke up?"
"Yes." Fox Boy answered while his head was still resting on Jesse's shoulder.
"Did you shoot them with that big revolver?" Dina asked him as she used the same piece of cloth to wipe the blood off Jesse's face.
The Albino boy pulled his mask down. "No, Jester destroyed all of my weapons." Although, there was a chance that his Mark 23 was still intact, which he would have to check later. "I managed to set that one on fire using materials that I found inside of my backpack." That was probably left by Jester because he doesn't remember putting them in his backpack. "The other one then chased me towards that garden but was able to catch up with me due to my injuries, but I was able to reach a shovel that I used to sever one of it's feet then I striked it's head until it stopped moving."
Dina looked at him with a very strange looking face. "You... Killed a Bloater with a shovel?"
"Yes." He confirmed, not really understanding why she was making that odd face. "But it managed to strike me several times and it may have cracked my ribs."
"Goddammit..." Jesse continued to curse as he kept on touching his ears.
"Can you hear anything at all?" Dina asked Jesse while pointing at her ears.
"All I hear is ringing and muffled noises." Jesse spoke in a low voice.
"He is currently suffering from Shooter's ear, it will take a few hours to know whether the damage is permanent or not." Shooter's ear is a type of acoustic trauma or noise damage caused by exposure to loud sounds like gun blasts. It can cause temporary or permanent hearing damage, depending on the severity and duration of the exposure.
"Shit..." Dina cursed. "Can you stand?"
"No." Fox Boy tried multiple times but he kept falling.
Dina grabbed Fox Boy's arm and placed it around her shoulder. Before she signalled Jesse to stand up with her hands. With him taking his other arm and helping him stand.
"Hey, Jesse said that there wasn't a bomb." Once they were on their feet, Tommy pointed out what Jesse said.
"There was a bomb, but it already detonated at the entrance." Fox Boy clarified. "Those locations that were marked on that map were simply traps set up by Jester."
"Oh shit!" Dina responded to that. "Ellie and Maria!"
"Oh god!" Tommy immediately turned around and rushed back from where they came from.
"Come on, we gotta move!" Dina yelled as she signalled Jesse to move.
Jesse understood and both of them began to move forward, with Fox Boy being able to walk due to the two of them helping him.
"We saw Jester leaving on a helicopter." Dina informed Fox Boy.
"Jester said that Reaper has ordered them to leave us for now." Fox Boy repeated what Jester said. "But they will come after us again later..."
"Fuck..." Dina seemed to be upset with the information. "Anything else?"

Fox Boy moved his head to look at her. "He said that... When they come for us again, each of them will play with each of you and... Jester called dibs on you."
Dina widened her eyes in response to that. Before she looked away with an expression that was too familiar for Fox Boy, an expression of fear and dread. "Umm... It doesn't matter, we need to go get Ellie and Maria." She told him while avoiding eye contact and keeping the same fearful expression. "Come on." She signalled Jesse to move.
With that, both Dina and Jesse helped Fox Boy walk. The snow that was falling upon them showed no sign of stopping, which meant they would need shelter soon. Thankfully, there were a lot of buildings they could use.
It didn't take long for them to pass through the garden where Fox Boy killed the other Bloader. With Jesse immediately noticing it and giving the two of them the same look that Dina gave him earlier.
"Something wrong?" With Fox Boy not really understanding the reason for it.
Dina, on the other hand, just responded by signalling him to keep moving. Which he compiled without saying anything.
Fox Boy continued to move forward with their help. It was quite difficult but manageable.
"Any other injury besides the cracked ribs?" Dina asked him.
"Internal bleeding." Fox Boy answered.
"Fuck..." Dina didn't seem to be pleased with that information.
Despite the difficulty, they were able to reach a considerable distance. Eventually arriving at the building where the settlement's inhabitants were hanged. It was still burning strongly, which indicated that Jester used a very flammable substance.
But that wasn't important, after they moved past the building, Fox Boy stopped them and removed his arms from around them.
"What are you doing?" Dina asked as the masked boy fell on his knees and began to search the ground.
After searching for a bit, he was able to find what he was looking for. "Looking for my Mark 23." Which was to grab his handgun back, which was thankfully intact.
As Fox Boy removed the snow off his pistol with his hands. Jesse also got to his knees and began to search for something. Eventually, he also found what he was looking for. His Kimber Custom, which was buried in the snow just like the Mark 23.
"Come on, we really need to move." Dina spoke as she moved to help Fox Boy stand up again.
"Sorry, I needed to recover my handgun." Fox Boy apologized as Dina got to one knee.
"It's okay, you're probably going to need it anyway." She told him as she placed his arm around her shoulder. "Jesse, let's go." Then she called Jesse, who was inspecting his pistol and didn't hear her.
Fox Boy responded by placing his Mark 23 back inside his thigh holster before grabbing a bit of snow from the ground and turning into a snowball.
"AH!" Then he tossed the snowball at the back of Jesse's head to get his attention. "Hey!"
Dina covered her mouth to apparently not laugh at what just happened.
"Sorry, but until your hearing returns, I don't know how else to get your attention." Fox Boy apologized despite the fact that Jesse can't hear him.
Dina simply signalled him with her head to follow them as she helped Fox Boy stand up again. "Come on, Cute Boy..." She spoke while laughing a bit.
"Okay..." Fox Boy could only move with Dina's aid.
Jesse followed them and grabbed Fox Boy's arm to place it around his shoulder like Dina.
The trio could only make their way back to where they came from.
Ellie Williams:
"Tommy!" Maria yelled her husband's name when she saw him approaching them.
"You girls okay?!" Tommy limped towards them, visibly concerned with their safety.
Maria and Ellie were currently standing in front of that big house, which was currently burning to the ground. They were able to make out through a passage that they found in the backyard and were basically just recovering their breaths.
"Yeah, yeah..." Ellie responded to Tommy, despite the fact that what they found inside that house was way out there. "Where's Dina?"
Tommy hugged Maria. "With Fox Boy and Jesse."
"What happened to them?" Maria asked him in worry.
"That psycho clown attacked the two of them." Tommy told them. "Jesse got some severe hearing damage and Fox Boy was vomiting blood."
"Jesus..." Maria rubbed her eyes in visible frustration because bad things just kept adding up to their list of problems. "Where are they right now?"
"Probably coming this way." Tommy spoke as he looked behind him. "There."
From afar, they could see the trio approaching them, with Jesse and Dina helping the Albino Weirdo walk. Slowly, they approached them with visible difficulty and the closer they got, Ellie could tell that they were in bad shape.
Jesse had a bruised cheek and a cut in his forehead.
Fox Boy, she couldn't tell due to his whole body being covered but by the fact that Dina and Jesse were carrying him, it was obvious that he was injured.
After a few dozen steps, the trio eventually approached the other trio.
"Hi Maria." With Fox Boy greeting them by waving. "Hi Ellie."
"Hey, you guys okay?" Dina asked them in worry.
"Yeah... The entire house was rigged with traps and there was a weird infected inside." Ellie responded while approaching them. "What is that about hearing damage?" She asked Jesse in worry.
"I can't hear you." Jesse spoke in response.
"Jester shot a .50 Action Express next to his ear." The Albino Weirdo told her.
"And what is wrong with you?" Ellie asked him.
"Jester shot me in the stomach with a sponge grenade." He responded.
"Then he sent two Bloaters at him and one of them probably cracked his ribs." Dina added.
"Ummm... Fox Boy," Maria approached the boy wearing a mask. "There was an infected inside of that house but it wasn't the Cordyceps."
"Oh, the Hydnellum peckii?" Fox Boy asked her.
Ellie simply made a confused response because she didn't know what that meant. "What the fuck is that?"
"It is also called the Bleeding tooth fungus." Fox Boy explained.
"Yes, it's body seemed to be covered with Devil's tooth fungus." Maria explained to him.
"It was one of Venus's failed creations." Fox Boy explained to them. "I don't know what was the process in it's creation but... I know that Venus simply took a small sample of the Cordyceps and mixed it with a Hydnellum peckii before injecting it into a live subject."
"Are you telling me that she managed to weaponize other fungus to act like the Cordyceps?" Maria asked him in visible shock, with Tommy sharing it based on his expression.
"Not quite, despite succeeding in turning causing other fungal infections to act like the Cordyceps, most of them proved to be completely useless as it made no actual difference to the infected subjects." Fox Boy explained further in order to remove their doubts. "Some of them were even relatively weaker than the ones infected with the Cordyceps which made it not only impractical but over all pointless."
"That thing just looked scary to be honest, killing it wasn't that difficult." Ellie pointed out that fact since it mostly took two 12 gauge shots at point blank to kill it.
"But that's good, isn't it?" Dina asked them despite not being a serious question. "The last thing we need is a new infected to deal with." She spoke the pure truth.
Maria took a deep breath before walking back and grabbing something that was on the ground. "We found this in the backyard of the house, and I'm pretty sure it's important." It was the briefcase that they found in the backyard of that house. They tried to open it, but it had a three-dial combination lock in it and they didn't feel like risking it since it could be rigged with explosives or something.
Fox Boy tilted his head to the left a bit, before removing his arm from around Dina's shoulder to reach for it. He held it with a single hand and inspected it for a bit before placing it on the ground. Then he removed his arm from Jesse's shoulder and got to his knees, where he proceeded to touch the three-dial combination, getting it open in less than three seconds by putting in the numbers 777.
Everyone watched as he opened the briefcase.
The Albino Weirdo tilted his head to the right when he saw what was inside.
"What is that?" Dina asked him as she got to her knees to look inside the briefcase as well.
Inside of it, there was some kind of glass vial that was filled with a strange looking liquid that was in the color yellow.
Fox Boy stared at the small vial for a bit, observing the strange liquid that was inside. Before he grabbed Jesse's arm and pulled in order to get up. Jesse, who was apparently not hearing anything, helped him stand. Fox Boy then placed his arm around his shoulder and signalled him to go to the direction of the house where that other group was.
The confused Jesse compiled and the two proceeded to move away.
"Hey, wait up." Dina spoke as she stood up and followed the two of them.
"What is it now?" Maria was the next one to go, with Tommy following behind her.
"But what the fuck is in that vial?!" Ellie asked since the Albino Weirdo didn't answer.
The fact that the liquid could do something was obvious since they already saw the fact that the Normandies had liquids that repels and attracts the infected, she could only try to guess what that one does.
Ellie followed everyone from behind as they all made their way back to the spot where they entered that place. She had no idea what was happening but considering everything that did happen so far, she had to be prepared for the worst.
That whole place was creepy as hell for Ellie, because it clearly had people not long ago and now it was practically a ghost town. But there were no signs of bloodshed, so she wonders what the hell happened to everyone. Then Ellie simply shaked that idea off her head because the answer is probably awful.
After doing a bit of running, everyone reached the house where that machine gun that almost gunned them down was.
"Wait up!" Dina yelled as she followed Fox Boy and Jesse as the two entered the house.
"What is he doing?" Tommy asked in visible confusion.
"I don't know, but we better find out." Maria replied as the two entered the house as well.
"I'm getting sick and tired of this." Ellie was the next one to enter the house, because she was tired of surprises and she had a feeling that this was going to be another one.
Upon entrance, they realized that the other group was inside the house. Kind of expected considering that it was cold as hell outside and there was a fireplace in there. They were all sitting on the floor next to the fireplace with confused looks on their faces after they were all inside the house.
"Hey!" The Mexican guy with a beard was the first one to greet them. "What the hell is going on?!"
"Hi Manny." Fox Boy greeted him by waving like he always does. "We are out of danger for now."
"What do you mean?" The pregnant girl was the next one to speak. "We heard a bunch of explosions and there was a helicopter."
"Hi Mel." Fox Boy greeted her next. "It was just Jester leaving in his helicopter and I didn't hear any explosions." He pointed out as he tilted his head to the right in confusion.
"That house we were standing in front of was filled with booty traps." Ellie decided to clarify that part. "There were grenades connected to wires all over it."
"Are you okay?" Dina asked her in concern.
"Yeah, we weren't near it when they exploded." Ellie assured her.
She then moved her eyes to look at the rest of the group. Where she noticed that the girl that was bitten was awake, sitting near the fire, hugging her knees tightly while looking at the wall. "Are you guys waiting until she turns?" She asked them in a low voice.
"We..." The guy called Owen approached them as well. "We considered doing it while she was unconscious but..."
"But she doesn't deserve to be put down like that, so we woke her up to ask what she wanted." The other girl, Nora, finished for him.
"She said she wanted to wait and we will respect that." Manny told them in visible distraught.
Ellie sighed because that situation was way too familiar for her. Except that it will probably end the way they expect it to happen.
Suddenly, they heard a noise and everyone moved their head to see. It was simply the Albino Weirdo, who fell on the floor after letting go of Jesse.
"What happened to him?" Mel asked them.
"The clown guy shot him in the stomach with a sponge grenade then he made him fight two Bloaders unarmed." Dina told them and everyone looked at her with either surprised, dumbfounded or doubtful reactions.
"Are you fucking with us or something?" Manny asked her in clear disbelief as he watched Fox Boy crawl on the floor.
"I didn't see it, but I'm pretty sure that it's true." Dina responded.
"Hi Leah." Without noticing, Fox Boy actually approached the girl that Ellie stabbed and greeted her with his goofy introduction.
Leah just looked at him with an empty face, clearly not in the mood to deal with that Albino Weirdo.
"I am really sorry about Jordan, I wish there was more I could have done to help him but there were just too many of them." He apologized to her, despite his tone of voice showing nothing but pure casualness, but this is how he always speaks so it is not exactly disingenuous.
Leah just looked at him for a bit. Before her face turned into a sad expression. ""You have nothing to apologize for..." She seemed to appreciate his words despite speaking in a very weak voice. Then she looked to her right, where the last girl that was still unconscious was laying on the floor with a jacket serving as a pillow. A frown appeared on Leah's face when she looked at her, visibly demonstrating a lot of anger towards that girl.
For how long is she gonna sleep? Ellie asked herself since she has been unconscious for a long time now.
"Can I see the bite mark?" Fox Boy requested her as he opened that strange small vial that contained the liquid.
Leah made a confused face. But then she sighed and opened her jacket to show him the bite mark. It looked really bad and she will probably turn into a Runner in a few hours. Since it was her choice to wait, she will have to transform and then one of them will have to put her down.
"This is gonna hurt quite a lot, so please try to ignore the pain if you can." Then Fox Boy said that to her.
"What-AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" Before he poured the strange looking liquid into the bite mark. "AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" With Leah screaming in agony once he emptied that vial on her.
"Hey!" With her friends immediately rushing towards her as the girl falls on the floor, screaming in complete agony.
"¡¿Qué diablos hiciste?!" Manny screamed in spanish as he limped towards them.
"Serví una bre-" While Fox Boy attempted to answer his question in spanish. Manny shoved the masked boy away from Leah as the poor girl writhed in pain on the floor because of whatever Fox Boy he poured into her bite mark.
However, it caused the Albino Weirdo to hit his head on the wall.
"Hey!" With Dina rushing towards the masked boy right away because he apparently lost consciousness and fell on the floor afterwards.
"AAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!" Leah kept on screaming in agony on the floor.
"Jesus, what the hell is happening?!" Jesse, who is clearly clueless about the situation, asked as he kept rubbing his ears.
Ellie scratched her head wondering the same thing. Tommy and Maria watched the scene in deep confusion as they were just as clueless about what just happened.
"Mmmm..." Suddenly, Ellie heard a noise coming from her right. Moving her head to see it, she realized something.
Which prompts Ellie to approach the group and tap Owen's shoulder. "What is her name again?" She asked him.
"What?" Owen looked back and realized something. "Abby!"
The girl named Abby just woke up.
Q AND A:
Big fan of your work but I'll confess I'm not the biggest fan of the last of us or walking dead for that matter and do sorta wish that instead of a lot of the chapters for this story and not a hero we got chapters for legendary scoundrel and golden gryffindor in their place.
They are the easiest one to update because they don't require too much lore knowledge to write them.
So Jester leaves with a warning that he'll be going after Dina. I worry that he's done far worse than cut a limb from Dina, and it would upset and enrage Fox Boy. Might cause Fox Boy to go John Rambo, cut open Jester's chest and rip out his heart to response for the pain he inflicted on Dina which also might as well has hurt Fox Boy as well. Dina will be both upset, and shocked by what Fox Boy does to to Jester, but also touched because of what Dina means to him, might be an encouragement for a relationship.
Fox Boy managed to save Jesse, from one of Jester's twisted games. Now there's the matter of regrouping with the others.
Hopefully the group can have some time to recover after what they've tirelessly been enduring of late. Chased by the Normandies, Jester's tricks and all. And Abby got to sleep through it all, as well as Nick, Jordan and Leah dying.
There's still the matter on the next course of action for them to consider. Two groups can go on separate ways... Fox Boy, Ellie, Dina, Jesse, Tommy and Maria can go take their chances on the road. Abby's crew can go back to Seattle and talk about the Normandies to Isaac Dixon and the WLF and see how they do. Fox Boy or no Fox Boy, the Normandies will sooner or later turn their attention to Seattle.
Or,
The groups can go together to Seattle, and Abby's crew can vouch for them. Then they can prepare for the Normandies together. Sneak peak about Fox Boy going to retrieve his gun shows the answer, but still.
Seeing the sneak peak of Fox Boy, Dina and Ellie, makes a picture of Fox Boy getting on his knee before the both them, holding wedding ring in each of his two hands and asking them to marry him. Dina will touched, and happy, Ellie might be a little weird out but touched.
Minor spoiler: Dina is gonna suffer more than just losing a limb on Jester's hands. Because he will practically play a SAW style game with Fox Boy and Dina.

Nah, besides the fact that I think Abby's dad had no idea what he was actually doing and was basically gambling Ellie's life. The Fireflies were about to fall apart anyway, they didn't had the means or resources to produce a cure. Not to mention that if word came out, everyone would probably attack them in an attempt to secure the cure for themselves, so in the end, they were nothing more than a bunch of terrorists that were way over their head with a delusional idea that they were going to save humanity.

Jester and Venus are basically mad artists, obsessed with their craft.
Poor Fox Boy already considers Jesse to be his best friend, despite the feeling not being mutual.
