Chapter 13

Rose's eyes slowly opened to the jail cell door opening. Her eyes went wide when she saw James there. There was no way that he was there to get them out of there.

"Be quiet. This way. Hurry." He said softly to her.

The crew members looked to Rose.

Rose nodded her head as they moved past her. She looked at James with a worried gaze. "What are you doing?"

"Choosing a side." James said firmly looking at her with a soft look on his face.

Rose slowly James out of the cell and up to the main part of the ship. She nibbled her lower lip softly.

James led her to the tow line that was hooked up to the ship.

The crew members crawled across the line to the Empress.

"One at a time. Quickly now. Do not go to Shipwreck Cove. Beckett knows of the meeting of the Brethren. I fear there is a traitor among them."

Rose took a breath through her nose. "It is not too late to earn my forgiveness."

James took a breath as he looked at her touching her hand lightly. "I do not ask it. I had nothing to do with your father's death. But that does not absolve me of my other sins."

Rose blinked a few times. "Come with us. James. Come with me."

James took a breath touching her cheek softly.

Rose heard a shuffling noise and turned her head.

"Who goes there?"

James drew his sword. "GO! I will follow."

Rose took a breath. "You're lying."

"Our destinies have been entwined, Rose." He kissed her softly. "GO! NOW!" He said shoving her away.

Rose grabbed his arm. "No time to be a hero James. We go together."

James looked at her with a worried gaze.

"I will not leave without you."

"Back to your station, sailor."

Rose pulled him to the rope. "I'm not losing you James come on."

James swallowed the lump in his throat and grabbed onto the line. He followed her slowly before using his sword to cut the rope to send the line into the water.

Rose swam to the surface and swam towards the Empress.

James followed her towards the ship.

TORTURED

Rose got onto the ship easily meeting the rest of the crew.

James climbed up behind her looking nervously at the crew. "Remember what I told you." He told her softly.

Rose shook her head. "We don't have a choice in this James." She told him softly shaking her head. "We go to Shipwreck Cove to meet."

James sucked the breath between his teeth as he followed her to the captain's corridors. "I know you are upset…"

"Far from upset… you made your stand and you're here with me." She said looking up at him.

James looked at her with a soft look on his face. "You made your choice."

"I have." She admitted softly. "I only am separated from my sister, is because Sao Feng thought that I was someone… someone important." She bit her lip softly. "It was the only way for them to go free."

"You risked yourself."

Rose let out a soft hum and looked towards him. "Yes, I suppose I did." She admitted softly.

"You didn't know if he was going to hurt you."

"Honestly I didn't, but I had faith in the fact that he had taken interest in me… thinking that I was Calypso." She let out a breath crossing her arms.

"Calypso?"

"Goddess of the Sea." She ran her hand through her hair. "They want to free her. I think."

"Why?"

"Why not? She was bound in human bones… meaning she can't control the sea… why should men control the sea?"

James let out a soft hum. "Why did you save me?"

"I couldn't bare life without you."

"I made a mistake." He said softly looking at her.

"In joining Beckett?" She questioned looking over at him crossing her arms a little bit. She let out a soft breath and nodded her head. "I know you made a mistake, James… you wouldn't have aligned yourself with a man that wants to control everything and…" She felt the bile rise in her throat thinking about her father. Her father a man who was sweet and kind and looked out for his girls no matter what. He was gone and there was nothing that she could do about it. And his life was ended by none other than Beckett. She wanted to get revenge on Beckett for killing her and Elizabeth's father, but perhaps meeting in Shipwreck Cove was what she needed at this moment.

"I'm sorry." He said softly reaching out to touch her. He was unsure if she would even accept his touch.

Rose looked up at him seeing that he was going into touch her. She took a soft breath and allowed him to touch her shoulder lightly. "I know that you're sorry James…"

"I don't expect forgiveness." He said softly squeezing her shoulder.

Rose bit her lower lip softly. She knew that he didn't expect forgiveness in what he did, but he would have to work for it. And she knew that it would take time. But he was her fiancee still regardless of what he did. She loved him, but she hoped that he could be able to forgive himself for what he had done. She patted his hand softly before moving back. She looked at him with a soft look. "I don't expect to give it unless you deserve it…" She admitted softly. "You have to forgive yourself first." She looked out the window of the captain's room. She took a sharp breath. "We're going to Shipwreck Cove."

"Beckett knows that is where the Breathern Court are meeting up."

"I know… we don't have much of a choice, James. We go to alert them of what is to happen."

"And if we get caught?"

"Then we fight."

James looked at Rose with wide eyes. She was wanting to fight again? He supposed after everything that Beckett did to her, he honestly didn't blame her. He just could only hope that she would be able to handle what was to come. He knew that it was going to be rather dangerous and he didn't want to lose her.
