The morning air was crisp as the sun began to rise, casting a warm glow over the academy. Fie, Laura, Emma, and Alisa walked side by side on their way to school, the quiet hum of conversation filling the space between them. The familiar sounds of birds chirping and the rustle of leaves in the breeze added to the peaceful atmosphere, but for Fie, it was mostly background noise. Her eyes were half-lidded, her posture slouched slightly, and it was clear she hadn't quite shaken off the sleepiness from waking up.
As Emma and Alisa chatted animatedly, Fie let her mind wander, not fully engaged with their conversation. Emma was excitedly discussing their recent encounter with Captain Claire, remarking on her beauty and how impressed she was with her presence.
"Honestly, I don't know how Captain Claire does it," Emma said, tossing her hair back with a smile. "She just has this way about her, you know? So pretty, so... graceful."
Alisa chuckled, nodding in agreement. "I know, right? It's like she's the embodiment of elegance. I can't help but admire her."
Fie, still a little foggy, wasn't really listening. She nodded absentmindedly, her eyes scanning the surroundings. The path to the academy was lined with colorful flowers in bloom, their petals gently swaying in the breeze. She paused for a moment, noticing a particularly vibrant flower growing near the side of the path. It was a delicate blossom in a soft shade of purple, with petals that looked almost velvety. Something about it seemed perfect.
Without thinking too much, Fie bent down and plucked the flower from the ground, her movements smooth and practiced. She then straightened up and, with a slight nudge of her elbow, held it out to Laura, who was walking beside her.
Laura, who had been listening to Emma and Alisa, blinked in surprise as the flower was suddenly presented to her. Her gaze shifted to Fie, noticing the gesture.
"Oh, thank you, Fie," Laura replied with a soft smile, taking the flower and gently turning it in her hands to admire it.
Fie continued meandering along, not paying attention.
Laura couldn't help but smile. Fie seemed to show kindness in her own, quiet way. Laura glanced at the flower in her hand again, a soft warmth filling her chest.
The group continued walking towards the academy, but Laura couldn't help but glance at Fie out of the corner of her eye. Fie was walking slightly ahead of the group now, her usual aloofness present.
"Fie..." Laura murmured under her breath, smiling to herself.
Emma and Alisa were still deep in their discussion about Captain Claire, oblivious to the quiet moment shared between Laura and Fie. But to Laura, it didn't matter. The world could keep turning, but at that moment, she was content to just enjoy the peace that Fie's presence brought her.
And so, they walked together, the flower held gently in Laura's hand, with Fie leading the way quietly.
