Delta Dawn woke Willow up after an hour of sleeping as she had promised. "I imagine people are going to start looking for you soon," She told the young Pop Troll.
Willow nodded and climbed off of Delta's back. She looked away, embarrassed. "Thank you for listening. And for letting me cry on you. I'm sorry you had to deal with that."
"Don't ever apologize for needing comfort," Delta said, rubbing the girl's arm. "We're dealing with a bad situation and there's only so much a Troll can take before it becomes too much. I'm glad you felt safe enough to do that around your friends instead of alone somewhere." She nudged Willow toward the cell door. "You do need to go now though."
Willow nodded and walked out of the prison cell. "I'll see you guys up there soon, I guess." She smiled awkwardly as she handed the cell keys back to the guard. She sighed and frowned. "I'm sorry. I wish I could have done more." She walked out before they could protest her words anymore.
Willow walked listlessly to the stage. She was being watched, she knew it. Not many of the Hard Rock Trolls trusted her yet, and many were glaring at her like she was going to mess something up. Maybe she was, she couldn't say. With how she was feeling, it was possible.
When she made it backstage, her ears perked up when she heard someone singing. It sounded like...Mr. Dinkles?
(Smidge and Mr. Dinkles)
Rainbows, unicorns
Everything nice, yeah
Sugarplums, fairy dust
Everything nice, yeah
Brush your teeth
Willow walked over to the group in confusion. What was the Snack Pack doing? They had the most ridiculous-looking costumes on. She shook her head when the Rock Trolls they were trying to sneak past bought the costumes and handed them instruments. Guess they were convincing enough. That, or the Rock Trolls were dumber than she thought. It was probably the latter. "Hey, Pop Troll!" The Rock Troll said, noticing Willow. "Where have you been?" He looked her up and down. "New look?" He gestured towards the gray complexion.
Willow scoffed and ignored the horrified looks on her friends' faces. "Something like that. And I was busy." She refused to elaborate and motioned towards her friends. "These guys going to the stage?" When the Troll confirmed, she nodded. "Cool. I'll get them there, I need to get set up myself." The Rock Trolls nodded as Willow walked towards the stage. She gestured for the Snack Pack to follow her. When the group was far enough away, she glared at her friends. "What are you doing here?"
"We're here to help Poppy," Guy Diamond said. "What are you doing here?"
"And why are you gray?" Biggie asked, concerned. "You weren't gray in Lonesome Flats. Did something happen?"
"I was left behind by my brother and friends," Willow said, frowning. She continued walking. "Then everyone was captured and Poppy's been captured and everything is going to be Rock."
Biggie sighed. "We did leave you behind, didn't we? It was so chaotic, I don't think we even had the chance to think about the fact we'd be leaving you behind. Hickory just pulled the door out of the wall and we left. I'm sorry we didn't find a way to get you first."
Willow nodded. "I understand." She couldn't forgive them yet, but she understood his reasonings. She sighed and stopped walking. "Look, I don't know what you guys are planning to do but try to keep a low profile. If these guys think you're one of them, you'll be safe."
"Safe from what, exactly?" Satin asked.
"I'm not sure," Willow admitted. "All I know is Queen Barb is going to play something she calls the 'ultimate power chord' and the world will be Hard Rock. She didn't give me all the details." She shrugged and started hooking up her bass. "Just play along and you'll be safe."
"So, Popcorn," Queen Barb said, leaning against the wall above the stage. "Is being my best friend everything you could have ever dreamed of?"
"I am not your best friend," Poppy said, glaring at the other queen.
"You don't have to be embarrassed," Queen Barb grinned. "I get it. Being queen can be kind of lonely." She listened to her subjects chanting her name. "There's all this pressure to be a great queen. And instead of real friends, you're just surrounded by people who just tell you what you want to hear." She crossed her arms. "That's why I like Willow so much, you know?" She grinned. "She's so hot-tempered and passionate when it comes to what she believes in." She looked at Poppy and laughed. "Can you believe she yelled at me about the prisoners? She wouldn't let up until I put her in charge of them. She's pretty incredible." Poppy looked at the other queen curiously. Did the Queen of Rock have a crush on Willow?
Queen Barb nodded to herself and pointed at Poppy. "You know, other than your terrible taste in music and clothing and general lifestyle, you and me are the same, Popsqueak."
Poppy scoffed. "No, we're not."
"We're both queens who just want to unite the world," Queen Barb said, walking away.
"You don't want to unite the world," Poppy argued. "You want to destroy it!"
"Nuh-uh. No way," Queen Barb grinned as she grabbed her guitar with the strings attached. "No. I don't know who told you that." She pulled out the Pop string to add it to the guitar. "Music has done nothing but divide us. Now that I have the final string, I can make us all one nation of Trolls, under Rock."
"But Willow loves all music," Poppy protested at Queen Barb's smile. "She's going to be miserable if you make it to where everything is just Rock."
"She'll be happier if it's all Rock," Queen Barb denied. "You don't understand it yet, but you will. When everyone's the same, she won't ever have to worry about being abandoned again."
"What are you going to do?" Poppy asked, worried.
"I'm going to play the ultimate power chord, and then," Queen Barb chuckled as the platform she was on started to lower. "You'll see!"
On the stage, Willow had finished tuning her base and getting set up for the concert. She looked up when the guitar started playing and watched as Queen Barb was lowered onto the stage in a new costume. She began to play her part on the bass as Barb walked off the platform and onto the stage. Queen Barb grinned and started singing as her subjects chanted her name.
(Queen Barb)
So this ain't the end, I saw you again today
I had to turn my heart away
Smile like the sun, kisses for everyone
And tales, it never fails
You're lying so low in the weeds
I bet you're gonna ambush me
You'd have me down, down, down, down on my knees
Now won't you,
Queen Barb paused and glared at the Snack Pack who were standing there not doing anything. Willow glared at them. They had to do something!
(Biggie)
Barracuda!
Biggie lifted his guitar and smashed it to the ground as he shouted. Willow sighed in relief when Queen Barb accepted that and continued the concert.
Queen Barb chuckled, threw the mic off the stage, and had the power guitar float down for her to start playing it. Queen Barb waved to the Tribe leaders. "Give it up to your former leaders." The stage lights illuminated the leaders as she named the Tribes. "Funk, Country, Techno, Classical, and worst of all, Pop." She pointed to the tooth Poppy was trapped in. "Who wants to see what the ultimate power chord can do?" She asked the crowd. They cheered loudly and Queen Barb grinned, aiming her guitar towards Poppy.
Willow's eyes widened. Of course, it was another weapon! Of course, it would be aimed at Trolls. How else was she supposed to make them Rock Trolls? Willow prepared to step in when a giant book was tossed at Barb and hit her in the face.
Barb snarled and looked up. Willow followed her line of vision and gasped in surprise. It was Sheila B., their hot-air balloon. "Ha!" Branch stood on the side of the balloon with some bounty hunters. "I guess a giant comprehensive manual does come in handy."
Willow smiled in relief. Her brother was there! And he was so bright and colorful. He was okay. "Well, isn't that puke," Queen Barb grinned mockingly. "Poppy's little boyfriend came to crash the concert." She aimed the guitar at Poppy. "Too late, Branch."
"No!" Willow shouted before using her hair and knocking Queen Barb to the side right as she finished the power chord, the blast hitting the tooth beside Poppy's cage instead. She looked over to see Branch had jumped in the way of where the blast was supposed to go. "Branch!" She called and ran over to him. She hugged him. "Are you okay?"
Branch smiled, relief in his eyes as he hugged his sister. "Yeah, I'm fine." He looked at her faded colors and frowned. Something had happened to her.
Willow sighed in relief and let go of her brother. "Good." She frowned and hit his shoulder. Hard. "What were you thinking?!" She yelled at him. "Do you have any idea what that could have done?"
"Me?" Branch demanded, rubbing his sore arm. "What about you? You just pushed the Queen of Rock away. You could have been hurt!"
"You self-sacrificing idiot!" Willow pushed him. "I have been worried sick about you! And the first time I see you in days, you decide to sacrifice yourself to save Poppy?! I get that you care about her, but you could have died! You would have left me alone, again!"
"Should we say something?" Wani of the K-Pop gang looked down on the sibling duo arguing in front of the entire Hard Rock Tribe and their prisoners.
"Nah," The Reggaetone Troll Tresillo said, shaking his head and grinning. "This is getting good."
Branch sighed and pulled his sister in a hug. "Let me go!" She growled trying to push him away. "I'm still mad at you!"
"I know," Branch nodded and squeezed tighter. "I should have never left you alone to begin with and I am so sorry I worried you. But I am never going to abandon you," he swore. Not like their brothers did to him. "I am never going to leave and not come back. You're stuck with me."
"You promise?" Willow asked, her voice wavering as she stopped pushing against her brother.
I promise," Branch said, pulling away from his sister. He held up his fist. "Still you and me?"
Willow grinned and touched her fist to her brother's. "Still me and you." She glared when Queen Barb started to slowly clap.
"Touching performance," Queen Barb said, getting close to the two siblings. Willow held her brother's hand and stepped in front of him to act as a shield. "Really, that was something special." She gestured towards two of the stagehands who went up and grabbed Willow and Branch. "Too bad it interrupted my power chord. I still need to find out if it works." She looked at Willow, disappointed. "I was hoping I wouldn't have to use this on you. We could have had a lot of fun." She shrugged. "Oh well. Guess we have some new volunteers to see if this works." She aimed the guitar at Willow and her brother. "Don't worry. This won't hurt a bit."
Branch squeezed his sister's hand. "By the way," He said looking at her. "If we get out of this, I'm going to need an explanation on the piercings you have."
Willow snorted. "Think I could talk you into getting one?"
"Not a chance," Branch rolled his eyes before Queen Barb finished playing her power chord and struck the two siblings, encasing them in rock. Queen Barb cautiously made her way over to the two large rocks and grinned when they broke apart.
Branch had a chest tattoo and his hair was in a mullet style. He had spiked bracelets on as well as two earrings in one ear and the other had one piercing. He had a skull tattoo on his chest and bright red eyes. "Rock on!" he shouted, throwing some rock horns in the air.
"Oh, sick!" Queen Barb grinned. "It totally works!"
Branch stepped forward. "Who's ready to get rippin' tattoos everywhere but our faces in case we still need office jobs?"
Barb grinned and looked at Willow to see how she changed. Willow's outfit remained the same, though her hair was pitch black now and much frizzier than she would have ever let it get. She played a chord on her bass and grinned darkly. "Tattoos later, big brother. It's time to rock." She moved away from her brother and closer to Queen Barb.
King Trollex and the others looked to Willow in concern. "Oh, Sweet Beat," the Techno King muttered to himself. "What did that thing do to you?"
"You're turning everyone into rock zombies?" Poppy asked.
"Yep," Queen Barb began strumming her guitar as two stagehands walked up and strapped a cord to the back of her costume. "I can't wait to party with you, Poppy." The cord lifted Queen Barb into the air as she played her guitar.
Queen Barb looked at the crowd and grinned before turning her gaze to Willow. She frowned at the almost lifeless look in the Trolls eyes. It felt wrong to see the usually so lively and passionate Troll so...dull. Maybe this was a bad idea. Queen Barb shook her head. No, the plan was going to work. It was too late to turn back anyway. She forced a grin on her face as the cord flew her over the crowd until she faced the other leaders. She blasted them all with the ultimate power chord, turning them all into Hard Rock versions of themselves.
When Queen Barb landed back on the stage, she heard a cell door open. She turned to see Poppy open her cell. "Not so fast, Popsqueak," She said. She grinned at the zombified Branch. "Hey, boy toy, it's mullet time."
Branch glared at Poppy before using his hair to grab Poppy and hold her in place. Queen Barb played a guitar riff before blasting Poppy with her music.
Poppy appeared out of the rock with a wild ponytail and a spiked headband. Her bangs were dyed black. She had two earrings in one ear and one on the other. She had a denim skirt on, a leather vest, and fishnet stockings as well as a spiked anklet. She had the signature red eyes of a rock zombie. "Who wants to party?!" She shouted, throwing the rock horns in the air. "Without smiling."
Biggie and the rest of the Snack Pack looked at their friends in fear. The Rock Trolls had won.
Well, Willow's a Rock zombie. I didn't think I'd have to change her look very much since the Hard Rock Trolls had done that before the concert even started. We have one more chapter for World Tour, and I think you all are going to enjoy it. See you next time!
