It's time for another upgrade story!
The legalities: I do not own any of the Expendables franchise (characters, places, and objects especially) and this is mostly au.Rated M just to be on the safe side.

"Did you really think I'd listen?"
Thorn was actually quite pleased with himself. He had been working on his current project in secret in the Hub for a couple of days, making sure to take rest and eating breaks in order to not raise suspicion with Barney or Jacoba. Right now, he wasn't sure who he feared more, his boss or his practically sister.
Normally, he would be fine. Jacoba would just be glad he was eating and sleeping. Barney would be fine with Thorn working on things as long as it didn't cause Jacoba to come and talk to him about it. But this time was different. Thorn had made the mistake of accidentally telling Jacoba what it was that he was currently working on; a new upgrade to the navigational system in Barney's plane. As in an upgrade to the upgrade that he and Luna had gotten in trouble for installing a few months ago. Jacoba had immediately informed Barney and the two of them had sat Thorn down and talked to him about not continuing to work on this.
He had reluctantly agreed to not continue. But he had lied. There wre some new attachments that he had gotten his hands on before being told that he couldn't do what he really wanted to play with. So, he had secretly begun to work on the navigation system. And had not been caught.
Well, up until now. "Brother."
Thorn's eyes widened as he scrambled to grab the tool that he had almost dropped when he heard Jacoba's voice. Without turning around, he smiled and continued to work. "What brings you to the Hub, sister?"
He could practically feel the disapproving look that Jacoba was no doubt giving him. "I do believe that you are currently doing the very thing that Barney and I both told you not to do."
Thorn scoffed as he finally turned around to face her and crossed his arms in front of his chest. "Well, did you really think that I'd actually listen? You knew that I had gotten some new attachments for the navigation system and wanted to play with them."
Jacoba sighed as she ran her hand through her hair. "And you know why we explicitly told you to not do this right?"
"Yeah, yeah. Barney's plane is barely holding together as it is, so you don't want me to do all that work for nothing."
"Exactly. Now, how about we go and grab Luna and Gunnar and go out for lunch?"
"Is that why you came in here?"
Jacoba smirked as she took hold of Thorn's arm and led him out of the Hub, ignoring his question. There was no way in hell that she was going to let her practically brother know that Smilee and Mars had both ratted him out to her. She loved them all way too much.
