Who is Otes? It is a question that has rattled many a brain, one could say more than the question, "Which came first, the chicken or the egg?"
Trick question: The questions may very well be one and the same.
Is Otes a card designer for Goha with a flair for the dramatic? The inventor of Duels before Goha Duels? The creator of the Sevens Road series? The creator of Resurrection of the Dead, originally made for the sake of those who didn't have the courage to duel?
"What are you after? In the first place, aren't your memories supposed to be wiped?"
Otes is a pretty good actor.
Otes is an idea.
Otes is a road. To a predetermined future. And also a predestined past.
Otes is the result of a time loop. A boy, lamenting the restrictiveness of Goha Duels, pioneers a new, revolutionary method of duelling, Rush Duels, which takes the place of Goha Duels. He faces his future self in their fated Duel, getting lost in time, and invents Rush Duels again in the past, which over time are replaced by Goha Duels, and despairs, becoming the self who will then guide his new, new future self toward the same cycle of events.
Otes is the true magician Dohl answers to. The Magician of Dark Sevens.
Dohl is the Goha President.
Dohl is a Goha Corporation drone, controlling the Goha President.
Dohl is equipped with dark matter material, to shapeshift into bat wings and an array of other forms.
Or is he?
Dohl is a quadruple agent. He served the acting President of Goha, Atachi Mimi, all while serving Goha Yuo, all while serving the sealed Goha Yuga, and all while serving Otes.
Dohl is Kaizo.
Dohl is a modified Kaizo, who excluded his user from the effects of Kuaidul's space-time.
Dohl is Otes' only era-appropriate friend, after, before, and after disappearing into the hyperspace created by the Super Rush Robot closing the distance at light speed between Yuga and Kaizo and the Otes Robot.
Or is he?
OTES is a Road. An Omniladybug Transcendental Eradication System built to nullify its maker's fear of ladybugs.
Nanaho and ladybugs are definitely not scary!
Dinois and ladybugs are definitely not scary!
Otes is a mask. A helmet. A prototype of Ohdo Yuga's…or the secret shame of Mutsuba Asaka, constructed as the town bearing her name she put so much pride in was taken from her.
Otes is a hypocrite, enabling the inception of Rush Duels, only to try to destroy them.
Otes is hypocrisy itself.
Otes is a persona.
Otes is a legacy.
Otes is a jerk to kids, who throws meteors at them, even while engineering them towards…something.
Otes is just some guy. Maybe no one anyone would recognize.
Otes is That Guy. Recognizable and unrecognizable.
Otes is Ohdo Yuga.
OTES is the solution to Ohdo Yuga's fear of ladybugs, but also…
Otes is Ohdo Yuga's fear. The reason Sevens Fear Magician exists.
Otes is a time-displaced human who arrived at an earlier point in the timeline. Who lived and died a mortal life, while the similarly time-displaced Yuga lived the life Otes led prior to adopting the Otes identity.
Otes is the Ohdo who began UTS, who lost his Earthdama, which went on to create a race of aliens to play a game he had no one to play it with.
Yuga is his own ancestor.
Or is he?
Otes is the Creator.
The Creator is Otes.
The Creator is Otes' Earthdama.
The Creator is Otes' Earthdama is the truth.
The Creator is Otes' Earthdama is a lie.
The Creator is Otes' Earthdama is Ohdo Yuga's lie. His deflection.
Otes doesn't have Earthdama.
Or does he?
The Creator is Kuaidul, who wasn't just borrowing his master's likeness to manipulate Zuwijo.
The Creator is Kuaidul, who is himself his master ("How curious…").
Otes is Mutsuba Asaka.
Otes is Goha Yuna.
Goha Yuna is Ohdo Yuga's wife.
Or she needs to be above all else, regardless of who she must use. Regardless of accidents that might happen. To Epoch.
Otes is the Dark Meister.
Otes is Ohdo Yuamu.
What is real story behind Otes? What isn't?
Was it all meant to be, or were adjustments paved over by new roads since?
Otes is a blank slate. He's whatever the viewer trusts or wishes him to be.
The Creator started the Velgearians from blank slates. Pinching and pulling…moulding galaxies into forms – vessels – for future souls.
By now, every Tom Paris, Dick D'Angelo, and Harry Kim was claiming to be or competing to be Otes. It recalled everyone pretending to be Yudias to break through the Dudi Ducasse's encirclement when the fleet came aboard Val-Valvelgear.

"Yudias Velgear! A warrior from the far reaches of the galaxy that now runs through a new battlefield called Rush Duels!"
