Chapter 143: Diskarma Discovery
Gaining access to Ritual Summoning through the Multiverse was one thing. Perfecting it for his own (and Yudias') use was another.
"So I did need to await this card's birth, after all…" Kuaidul again quoted an antagonist of the legendary Duelist of history he had the honour of duelling.
The incomplete card was shining. Presently pictureless and untitled, but with its effect text written out in full.
Yuki Judai…"Gotcha! It was a fun Duel!" the first Velgearian chuckled to himself.
Menzaburo, Swirls, Hell Kaiser Ryo, Judai, George. He'd duelled them all on his tour beyond the shattered glass. From the marginally to the radically different. Realms outside traditional understanding, etc., etc.
But the time for fun and games had passed. He'd dipped his hand where he shouldn't. Touched forbidden arts that weren't his to touch.
He couldn't have done it without diverting Yudias' energy.
The Multiverse might be destroyed for his transgression. Establishing a link to Somewhere Similar to Here would have fallout.
If this card is Ritual Summoned: Destroy all worlds that point to this world, then destroy all other worlds that those worlds pointed to, and follow the roads of all those destroyed worlds, destroying everything they point to, and repeating the process, until there are no more to destroy.
Although Kuaidul didn't identify himself to the denizens he secretly studied (due to awareness of his world carrying the danger individuals from disparate universes might storm his), his existence inherently felt wrong and out of place. He didn't belong and so, like antibodies attacking germs in a monster's gut in a place where it is instinctively imprinted in you to meet others, build society, and develop civilization while being turned to mush by said monster's digestive juices, he wasn't granted freedom to do whatever he wanted. Not without pushback from the locals.
He was duelling…a huge girl!
"My turn! Draw!" Mitsuko drew. "I summon Mitsurugi no Mikoto, Kusanagi!"
Mitsurugi no Mikoto, Kusanagi (Level 4 DARK Reptile/Effect ATK 1600 DEF 700)
Kusanagi? Kuaidul's inner voice jumped at the name.
Yes. That voice. His voice.
"This Deck symbolizes our bond. As long as we have this Deck, our bond is eternal!"
"I have to defeat you by any means necessary. Playmaker. Ai. Lose for Jin!"
"Yusaku…I leave the rest to you."
"What are you spacing out about? I'm in the middle of pummelling you into the ground, you attentionless day-ruining bastard!" Mitsuko's indignation was a hoarse hiss.
Yes. Kuaidul knew how many Duelists would trade their lives for a 3-metre woman to step on them. Not even Zuwijo, with his ruggedly good looks or faithful dialogue, could attain such viral prominence (as Duel Links had shown).
"I'm sorry. Your monster is nostalgic for me in ways you can't comprehend."
"That aggravating attitude! I swear you'll spend three wishes wishing you were some place else after I win the gold – not the bronze! Mitsurugi no Mikoto, Kusanagi's effect! During the summoned turn, by sending one card from the top of my Deck to the Graveyard, I add Mitsurugi no Mikoto, Saji from my Graveyard to my hand! And then I'll summon Saji!"
Mitsurugi no Mikoto, Saji (Level 4 DARK Reptile/Effect ATK 1000 DEF 1700)
"As before, I send one card from the top of my Deck to the Graveyard to activate Mitsurugi no Mikoto, Saji's effect! I add THIS CARD from my Graveyard to my hand!"
"A Ritual Magic…" Kuaidul closed his eyes sagely. "I see."
"Now from my hand, I activate it! Ritual Magic, Mitsurugi Ritual! I send face-up monsters from my field to the Graveyard whose total Levels equal the Ritual Monster I'm Ritual Summoning!"
Kusanagi and Saji burned out. Thunderclouds aggregated, bringing torrential rain.
"The contract has been made. The dragon who wields dark power inherits these two souls! Ritual Summon! Rise, Ame no Murakumo no Mitsurugi!"
Ame no Murakumo no Mitsurugi (Level 8 DARK Reptile/Ritual/Effect ATK 3200 DEF 800)
"A Reptile-Type Ritual Monster?"
"Mitsurugi…meaning the Heavenly Swords. Meaning the Three Swords! The turn it's Ritual Summoned, by sending the top three cards of my Deck to the Graveyard, all monsters on your field are destroyed!"
All three of Kuaidul's monsters were corroded to nothing by the Ritual Monster's alcohol-laden breath.
"Your field is barren! I set three cards and battle! Ame no Murakumo no Mitsurugi, direct attack!"
The eight-headed serpent bared its thirty-two fangs and flicked its eight forked tongues as a monsoon of divine proportions buffeted Kuaidul.
"Hhh!" (Kuaidul LP 3500 ↓ 300)
"You messed up! I told you, you weren't going to enjoy this story! I end my turn!"
"My turn. Proto-Velgear Draw. I summon three monsters."
Prime Wizard (Level 4 LIGHT Cyberse/Effect ATK 1800 DEF 800)
Prime Backup (Level 3 LIGHT Cyberse/Effect ATK 1200 DEF 800)
Transamu Rainac (Level 4 LIGHT Galaxy/Normal ATK 1600 DEF 0)
"I release Prime Backup. Advance Summon. Prime Linkslayer!"
Prime Linkslayer (Level 5 LIGHT Cyberse/Effect ATK 2000 DEF 600)
Was it essential to Advance Summon – a step down from Prime Advance Summoning – when he'd already met the Level requirement to Ritual Summon? Sure. But Kuaidul was nothing if not theatrical.
"With these three monsters, I…"
Diskarma Ritual completed itself in a flash of light in Kuaidul's hand.
"When crossing beyond the river of karma…Descending upon you is pain! Hatred! And despair! Ritual Summon. Level 11! Transamu Diskarma Rainac!"
Level 11. The Level once reserved for Reality Breaker-class monsters.
Yubel – Das Abscheulich Ritter.
sophia.
And now…
Transamu Diskarma Rainac (Level 11 LIGHT Galaxy/Ritual/Effect ATK 3000 DEF 1600)
Yes, Yudias. Hate me. Curse me. Ache. Be quiet. That is the evidence you are blank. A vacuum. Vacant. Empty space. A schema waiting to be programmed.
To mature, one must take both happiness and the tears. The flawless smiles and fears.
Even if you alter the road you're on, limit your contact to minimize the hurt you might experience, you're going to lose people.
There is nothing wrong with pain. No pain, no gain.
If the Multiverse was to be destroyed, then so be it. Let it be sacrificed.
"Destruction and sacrifice? I see. Is that how it seems to you?"
Yudias needed to grow up.
