"Oh Amelia, that looks darling on you!" Addison exclaimed. "It's cute but like where will I wear it? We don't have a middle school prom or anything like that."

"You don't need an occasion to buy a pretty dress." Addison smiled, that was foreign to Amy, she rarely got new clothes. What with having 3 older sisters, but when she did it was always for something special, perhaps a wedding or a first day of school outfit. "I'm happy to get it for you Amy, this shopping trip was your Christmas gift. "I think let's get some more casual stuff, like for school."

"Okay, I'm happy to get you both though."

Addison smiled wryly at herself as Amy chose yet another dark t shirt. She'd already picked dark green, dark purple, dark red, navy blue and black. dark jeans too. It wasn't what Addison would choose but this was about Amy. "Do you want to stop and eat after this store. We could go to the food court or to Pizza Hut?"

"Sure, shall we go to the food court so you can get one of those rice bowl things you like and I can

go to the place with the massive pizza slices."

"Sounds great Amy. Let's go."

Addie was sat with her donburi bowl when Amy came over with a small pecie of pizza. "Is that all your having Ames?" Addison asked. Amy might be slight and small but she'd always had a healthy appetite. "Yeah, I'm just not super hungry today."

"Well if you're sure, we can get you something else if you're still hungry after."

"Okay." Amy smiled and began eating her pizza. Addie looked at the girl. She didn't think she'd lost weight, but it wasn't like she had any to loose. Addison had to work hard to maintain her slim figure, lots of salad and working out- well as much as she could as a med student, but Amy at 12 up until today seemed to eat an endless amount of pizza and still keep a completely flat stomach. "Where shall we go next, shall we get you some shoes?"

"You've already bought me a whole bunch of stuff." Amy indicated at the bags by her feet. "Yes but as I said I'm happy to get you things. How about a new pair of boots and gym shoes. I know your gym shoes are falling apart."

They started to walk towards the shoe store, when Amy darted into a random store. "You want...camping gear Amy?" Addison asked distain in her voice. She knew Amy had a different upbringing to her but sleeping in a tent sounded like a nightmare for Addison. She was into 5 star spa hotels. "No, I just saw some girls from my school. Courtney, Meghan and Alyssa. They think I'm a looser and I just don't wanna talk to them."

"Oh good. Well not good that your classmates are mean but although I love you Amy, I don't think camping is for me. My family have a house in the Hamptons though. Maybe we can go there sometime, it's right by the ocean. We could invite your sisters?" Addison smiled and Amy pulled a face. "Or not." Addie guessed. "Maybe Lizzie, not Kathleen or Nancy though."

"Okay, you know you're not a looser right?"

"I know, they only care about like clothes and boys. Honestly most of the boys in my grade at school are complete idiots. They think potty humor is hilarious and being mean makes them cool."

"Yes, us girls usually mature much earlier than boys. Archie my brother used to drive me mad until he was about 15. I didn't start dating until I was 16, there's no rush. Most of the time it all ends in tears anyway. Especially when you're young." Addison smiled and Amy smiled back. Honestly she had no interest in dating at all yet. At 12 it seemed a lot more effort than it was worth.

After waiting in the camping store a few more minutes Addison and Amy made their way to the shoe store.

Amy still felt a little uncomfortable having so much money spent on her but got a new pair of boots and sneakers. Addison bought herself some shoes too.

"Oh Amy, Hi" Amy heard behind her after the shoe saw. She rolled her eyes and turned. "Hi." It was the girls from her school.

"It so nice to see you Amy. Are you getting some new clothes. You should have come with us. We can help you choose the right things."

"I think Amy is able to choose her own clothes" Addison smiled. "Yeah but she's not super fashionable, like us. We know what's cool, y'know" Meghan explained. "Who are you by the way, you're far prettier than any of the Shepards?" Courtney asked. "I'm Addison. Amy's brother's girlfriend and Amy's friend. And believe me Amy is far prettier than I am. I look like the grinch until I put my make up on."

"Well it's super nice of you to hang out with Amy since she doesn't really have friends." Alyssa smiled.

"I happen to really like hanging out with Amy, but we need to get going. We have a dinner reservation" Addison smiled walking off. "We have a dinner reservation?" Amy asked. "Not unless you want me to make one, I just wanted to get away from those bitches. They're the worst type. Smiling and pretending to be all sweet while actually being super mean."

"Were there mean girls like that at your school?"

"I think there always are. I went to boarding school, so it was impossible to get away from the mean girls. They all thought I was weird but honestly I didn't care and once they realised that they mainly left me alone. And I had a really nice group of friends anyway. It was weird to them that I wanted to be a doctor. Most of the people there had enough money to just live as a high society lady and marry a socially acceptable rich man. I never wanted that. I wanted to become a doctor, marry someone who I actually loved, not just because the neighbours would approve, and live a more standard normal life."

"Having the money to buy me all this stuff is totally not normal Addie, thank you though. It's exciting to get to pick my own clothes. Usually I just wear Katie's old stuff, I think her style is more like mine than Nancy's and Elizabeth has sewn a lot of her clothes."

"You're welcome sweetie, did you want to keep them all at yours or did you want to keep some at the penthouse so you don't need to schlep across the city with a backpack full of clothes?"

"Most at home then some at the penthouse? Because of school it's easier to have them at home?"

"Okay, sounds good. Let's get you home."
