After leaving the Battle Club Izuku stops by the Pokémon Center to get Joltik a quick check after the battle. A woman wearing a pink shirt and white skirt with a nurse hat says, " Hello my name is Nurse Joy. How may I help you today young man?" " Can you take a look at Joltik please Nurse Joy," Izuku replies while handing over Joltik to her. "Of course it should only be a moment," She responds while walking to the back with Joltik. Izuku goes and sits down pulling out a notebook and writing in it for a few minutes while waiting for Joltik. After a few minutes Izuku sees Nurse Joy returning with Joltik and walks over.
"Your Joltik is all better now. I hope you have a good day," Nurse Joy says while setting Joltik on the counter. "Thank you Nurse Joy, Good Bye," Izuku says as Joltik hops onto his hat. Izuku walks out of the Pokémon Center heading to the exit of Accumula Town to Route Two. It only takes Izuku the rest of the day to reach Striaton City. The sun is just starting to set as Izuku heads straight to the Pokémon Center after making his way into Striaton City.
He walks up to the desk where a young woman with pink hair in two loops and blue eyes."Could you heal my Pokémon and register me for the Unova league? Also, may I rent a room for the night?" Izuku asks. "Of course to register you for the Unova League and to get you a room all I just need is to get your first, last name, and a form of identification please. I can heal your Pokemon in just a few minutes," Nurse Joy replies with a smile. Izuku hands over his Pokéballs to Nurse Joy before pulling out his green Pokédex,
"My name is Izuku Kandó from Nimbasa City." Nurse Joy puts the Pokéballs in a tray before going to the computer typing in his name and then saying, " All registered, I will have your Pokémon fixed up in just a few minutes along with the key to your room." Nurse Joy takes the tray and walks into the back. Izuku moves away from the desk, noticing video phones, decides to call home and see how things are going. He picks up one of the phones and dials his dads office line. It rings two times before the line is picked up and he sees his Dad on the screen.
"How are you doing, little passenger?" Ingo asks. "Yes everything is alright, no derailments. I just wanted to let you know I got to Striaton City safely and see how you and papa are doing," Izuku replies while smiling.
"That's good. Emmet and I are doing fine. He's at Gear Station right now finishing up a shift. We do miss you being here, but are glad you're having a good journey so far just hoping you're following all safety checks," Ingo responds in a happy tone. " Izuku Kandó, your Pokémon are ready please come to the front desk," Nurse Joy calls from the front desk. "I have been very careful and am following all safety checks. I do have to go dad, Nurse Joy just finished checking Joltik and Litwick and I need to go. Do tell Papa I called and that I love you both," Izuku says smiling brightly. "I love you too little passenger, be careful and full speed ahead to your first badge," Ingo replies before they both hang up. Izuku goes up to the front desk picking up his Pokémon and room key, before turning in for the night.
The next morning as Izuku walks down the street towards where Nurse Joy told him Striaton Gym is. He wonders if he's going to use Joltik or Litwick for the Gym battle. As Izuku pushes the door of the Gym he wonders if he's in the right place because it looks more like a five star restaurant than a Gym. As Izuku stands there looking around, a young man with green eyes and hair in a waiter's outfit walks up and asks with a smile," My name is Cilan and how may I help you today?" "Hello Cilan my name is Izuku I am wondering if I arrived at the right station, because I'm looking for the Striaton Gym for a battle," Izuku straightens his hat as Joltik hops down to his shoulder. That's when everyone sitting down starts murmuring excitedly as two others, one with red hair and eyes and one with blue hair and eyes, join Cilan. "You are in the right place because we are the gym leaders and triplet brothers Chili, Cress, and Cilan!" The three introduce themselves as the room goes dark and three spotlights shine on them. "Now it's showtime!" They call as the far wall rumbles and moves to the side revealing Striaton Gym's battlefield.
The three lead Izuku to it before saying, "Depending on the starter you got Professor Juniper will decide who you battle. Whether it's Chili's Pansear, Cress's Panpour, or Cilian's Pansage." Izuku looks at them frowning before saying, "Then we might need to take a different track because I didn't receive a starter from Professor Juniper. My dad and papa each gave me a Pokémon for a starter. One is my Litwick and the other is Joltik here;" Izuku finishes while pointing at Joltik who's on his hat again. "That's different. We haven't had a person come to battle us who hasn't received a Pokémon from Professor Juniper," Cress says with a frown, crossing his arms.
"Who are your parents anyway, because those are some pretty unusual Pokémon to give as starters?" Chili questions while frowning. "Um, their names are Ingo and Emmet Kandó?" Izuku says while standing straighter moving both arms behind his back, only to hear a startled gasp from Cilan. Turning Izuku looks at Cilan only to see him looking at him in wonder, Cilan asks excitedly, "You mean the Subway Bosses Ingo and Emmet?" "Um yes they are the Subway Bosses. Um, why is that a problem?" Izuku responds, frowning. "No nothing wrong, this is amazing I'm a metro connoisseur. They are amazing with how they run both the Battle Subway and regular Subway at the same time. So I say I'm going to be the one battling you," Cilan replies with stars appearing in his eyes. Chili and Cress just look at their brother before shaking their heads in disbelief. Izuku smiles then says, " Well since I'm battling Pansage I'll use Litwick because he didn't get a chance to battle at the Battle Club, if that's alright with you Cilan." "Of course it is. Now it's Evaluating Time!" Cilan replies before walking over to one end of the field releasing Pansage. Izuku walks over two the other side releasing Litwick.
Cress steps up to the referee stand before saying, "Let the Gym battle between Cilan the Gym Leader and Izuku the challenger begin." "Pansage use bullet seed," Cilan calls. Pansage launches the bullet seed attack only for Izuku to say, "Litwick use ember to counter then use smog attack." Litwick launches ember canceling out the bullet seed before releasing a giant cloud of black smoke. "Pansage use dig,"Cilan calls out and Pansage responds immediately by digging underground. "Litwick slow your tracks, keep an eye out and ready an ember attack," Izuku responds while trying to keep an eye out for Pansage. A crumbling of the ground happens underneath Litwick before Pansage hops out hitting Litwick across the field. "Littt-Litwick, " Litwick cries as it slides across the ground.
"Litwick can you keep going?" Izuku calls looking at Litwick in worry. Litwick slowly gets up before nodding to Izuku with a smile. "Alright Litwick use astonish," Izuku calls before Cilan or Pansage can react. Litwick shoots forward, hitting Pansage hard, knocking it to the ground a few feet away. "Pansage use dig one more time," Cilan calls out. Pansage gets up before digging into the ground. "Litwick launch an ember attack into the hole full speed ahead!" Izuku cries excitedly as the idea came to him.
Litwick quickly moves over to the hole before launching the strongest ember attack it can down into the hole. Then there was a scream,"Pan-pansaggge;" as Pansage jumps out of the ground with flames following close behind. "Wow that was completely unexpected, such a surprising flavor to this battle," Cilan says in shock. Litwick then launches a ghostly flame at Pansage hitting it head on causing Pansage to gain burns across its body. "Way to go Litwick you learned will-o-wisp, now let's stay on track and use astonish attack," Izuku calls out, smiling in determination. "Pansage use bite attack, quickly!" Cilan yells out. Pansage and Litwick charge at each other, passing each other as their attacks land. They both stand for a moment before Pansage falls to the ground not getting up.
"Pansage is unable to battle; Litwick is the winner. The victory goes to the challenger," Cress says while raising his hand over to Izuku's side of the field.
"Bravo Litwick you did very well," Izuku says boisterously while bending down and petting Litwick gently. "Jol-Jo-Joltik," Joltik says while smiling at Litwick. "Well congratulations Izuku, here's your badge," Chili says while handing Izuku the badge after Izuku stands up. "Look Litwick this is thanks to all your hard work," Izuku says while showing the badge to Litwick who coos happily.
"Thank you for the battle Cilan, I hope our tracks meet again for another battle," Izuku says after turning to Cilan while mimicking the pose his dad and papa do, by pointing straight forward with one hand and down with the other.
"Indeed that would be wonderful, Izuku our battle was a lot of fun and I learned so much, but I do have a few questions about Nimbasa City Subway if you're willing to answer" Cilan replies happily. Izuku blinks before smiling, " I will be more than happy to answer any questions about my home station!"
