Chapter 29: Plans

AN: Sorry for the delayed update y'all. Life has been happening lately.

Sesshomaru

I hid in my office after leaving my father's home. I would rather be home with the woman I loved but I needed to unwind. Going home angry was the last thing that I wanted to do. Dealing with Inuyasha always got under my skin. His behavior attests to my father's parenting or lack thereof. His first home was work, that was the reason for his prolonged absence at home. Izayoi did what she could, and helped in the best ways I could. However, it was very obvious that Inuyasha had trouble following orders. I should be used to this dysfunction after years of dealing with it, but it still takes a toll on me as much as it did when I was a child. I had planned not to come in at all. I had given my secretary the day off, seeing as I was not supposed to be here. There was no need for him to come in. My schedule was clear. I made sure to come in through the back entrance of the building. I even went as far as to walk up the staircase to avoid everyone. The silence here was exactly what I needed to clear my head. I sat in my chair and relaxed. I turned around around and faced the window. I just watched as life went by. it was beginning to calm me. until I heard the elevator ding. I sighed and rubbed my temples as I listened to the footsteps get closer. The familiar sound of my office door opening and closing pushed me closer to the edge. I turned around scowling as I saw him.

"Is there a reason you are standing in my office Mr. Okaami, and do make it quick. My patience is wearing thin."

He grabbed a chair and took a seat in front of me.

"We have a problem."

"Yes. We seem to have many."

He sighed. "You are not fond of me; rightfully so. I get it, I do. I wouldn't like me either, but right now I'm being serious. This is something that you should know. It is about Kagome. Or would you rather I keep it from you?"

I narrowed my eyes at him.

"Oh, I'm sorry. This is about Ms. Higurashi. Can we talk about this now?"

"What is it?"

"Before I took my lunch, I had to drop off some documents. Her secretary was too busy. I didn't expect her to start flirting with me the way she did."

I sighed. "This sounds like an issue for the HR department. What does this have to does this have to do with Kagome?"

"I am getting there. It's the things she was saying and how she was saying. it was like she wanted me to ask."

"Things like?"

My patience had almost disappeared.

He put his hands up in defense.

"I would get to it if you stopped interrupting me. Please, just let me tell the story."

I waved my hand, gesturing for him to go on.

"After the obvious flirting, she started talking about your brother. I thought that was normal. What woman didn't talk shit about the guy she was with, from time to time. Nothing she was saying sounded too far-fetched. The most important thing that caught my attention; was the part about Inuyasha pining over another woman. Her exact words were she already had one foot out the door.

I leaned back in my chair.

"Can you get to the part that is supposed to concern me?"

"Okay, okay. I am. She kept hinting at a woman being the root of all their problems. I asked her about it, and the name she dropped was Kagome's. I'm no Idiot. I may not know her as well as you do. Still, I know she would never do anything messed up like that. She isn't that kind of person. I also know when a woman is trying to use me for something. I've met a lot of users in my life, and that woman there is one of them. She's scheming something, I can feel it."

I could tell the two were not fond of one another, but why talk about Kagome in such a way?

"She willingly told you all of this?"

"I played along with it. I thought what was wrong with a little harmless flirting, and I wanted to be a little nosy. Bad-mouthing Kagome was her first mistake."

"So, the question is, what are we going to do about this?"

"We?"

He nodded. "Yes we, because she won't tell you anything. So, without me, there's no information, and we'll never find out what she is planning. You aren't her next big catch Sesshomaru, I am."

He was right.

"Also, just to be clear, I'm not doing this to get on her good side. I am not trying to steal her from you. I just don't want anything bad to happen to her.

"You could not steal her from me if you tried. You had your chance; remember? Besides, I am not threatened by you Kouga. Kagome would never do such a thing."

He scoffed. "Yeah, sure. Just accept the help. I think we'll make a pretty good team. We are on a first-name basis already."

"What do you suppose we do about this Mr. Ookami?" I asked ignoring his comment.

"I brought the information. It's up to you to make the plan. You're the brains."

I leaned back in my chair. "I see. How far are you willing to go?"

He leaned back as well. "How far is far?

"Very."

"For her? As far as I need to."

A lovesick fool.

I nodded. "This is what you will do. You will continue to see Kikyo. Speak to her as often as she wishes. You let her think she has her claws in you. Give her what it is that she wants, and keep me posted."

"Then?"

"Then, when the time is right. I will let you know what to do, and where to do so we can get rid of her for good. Inuyasha will not let her go. She is all he has left. We have to make him. I need her away from my family; away from Kagome."

"Isn't that your brother? Why would you do something like that to him?"

"Inuyasha does not know what is good for him. He never has. I let him play around with this woman for long enough. I have to interject before things get even more serious. Inuyasha often makes the wrong choices. I am here to fix his mistakes. As much as he gets under my skin, he is my brother, even though he may be at fault. I will not let some woman use him for her gain."

"Even if he is after your woman?"

The wolf knew more than he let on

"I have a plan for him."

"A plan?" he asked.

"Yes, but it does not concern you."

He sighed. "You know, someday you will have to let Inuyasha fall flat on his face. You can't keep saving him all the time."

I am aware.

"Just ensure you are ready when I reach out to you."

"I see. So you're using me as a honey trap."

"Precisely. Do you have an issue with that? You so eagerly wanted to help. So, help. This is for Kagome after all."

He smirked and nodded his head. He stood up.

"Just let me know when it's time. I'll do my job," he said walking away.
