"Dreams you can't deny"
I Melt With You by Modern English
SEVYN WAS PUMPED for the concert. Since their first meeting, she and Star have spent more time together. Mostly they connect on clothes and how annoying the boys can be sometimes. It wasn't much, but it was something. They weren't friends, by any means, but they were friendly.
Sevyn tagged along with Star, keeping an eye on Laddie. The shiny lights and loud noises still grabbed Laddie's attention after all this time, and she couldn't help but get caught up in it in it as well. The two of them followed along with Star, albeit distractedly.
Perhaps she wasn't the best babysitter…
The three of them slipped under the stage and up into the crowd. Star was lost in the music, dancing through the crowd while searching for a good spot to watch the show.
They found their spot and started dancing to the beat. Sevyn wouldn't normally listen to this kind of music, but it was part of the movie, so she got into it. How could she not? Sevyn scanned the bonfires for Michael, wondering when she'd see him.
She didn't have to wait long. She spotted him, his eyes glued to Star. It was a little sad, but then she realized she probably looked the same when she first saw the boys. Well, maybe not the first time. She was just trying not to die back then.
She felt four sets of eyes on her. Were they here to watch her or were they always in this part of the movie? She wasn't sure, so she tried to ignore them.
The pink-haired girl watched Star and Michael make eyes at each other while trying to be aloof. Sevyn grabbed Laddie's hand and started dancing with him. Their movements weren't in sync, but they didn't care. She was having fun and was spreading that energy to Laddie.
He giggled and danced until he was too tired to keep up. Luckily, Star was ready to start a chase, grabbing Laddie and Sevyn on her way to the boardwalk. Sevyn laughed and bobbed her head to the beat as they made their escape.
Star didn't see the boys, but Sevyn did. It felt like they were all connected somehow, and she couldn't stop herself from looking. It made Sevyn uncomfortable, so she just waved at them without a word. Paul winked at her, Marko bit his thumb, and the other two simply nodded.
Sevyn rolled her eyes and focused on Star. "Looks like someone's on the hunt," she said, laughing as they weaved through the crowd. She occasionally glanced back to see Michael following them.
"Is he still following?" Star asked.
"Yeah, girl, he's simping for you. It's kinda sad," Sevyn replied.
Star didn't question it. She was used to Sevyn's strange way of speaking.
They were different people, and Sevyn was fine with that, so she didn't try to get to know Star all too well. Not everyone had to like her, so she didn't try for Star's approval and that seemed to work for them.
Finally, after walking around for a while, Michael caught up to them. Sevyn watched with Laddie's hand clasped tightly in her own as the couple flirted. She recognized this from the deleted scenes. When Sam came up to Michael, the three of them focused on his comic book.
Sevyn grabbed Star. "Come on, the boys are waiting."
Star hesitated for a moment before giving Michael a coy goodbye. Sevyn rolled her eyes and laughed. Laddie looked up at her, and she gestured towards Star and Michael, pretending to gag. They laughed together and dragged Star away. Sevyn was happy. Everything went according to plan, and now she was on her way to see her favorite boys.
She didn't get to see them all night, not really. As soon as she found them on the boardwalk, she left with Star and Laddie for the concert. She felt a nervous but excited feeling in her stomach. It wasn't something she particularly enjoyed. Despite what the boys said, she was having a hard time accepting their claim that she is 'theirs.'
Sevyn wondered if the boys were done messing with Max and Lucy yet. She didn't get to go with them for that. David was keeping Max in the dark about her existence. Why? She didn't know. Maybe he thought Max would try to kill her.
She shuddered.
"So, he was cute," Sevyn said, smirking at Star.
"Yeah? You think so?" Star asked hopefully.
"Totally. He's tall, has a strong jaw, and thick, brown curls, and blue eyes. What's not to like?" Sevyn nudged her.
"I don't know. I don't think David would like me talking to him," Star sighed, looking and sounding defeated.
"Why so down? You never know. Just live in the moment. If it's meant to be, you'll talk to him again. And if David has something to say, tell him to piss off," Sevyn teased, winking.
Star laughed, hoping things were that simple.
They continued toward the boardwalk exit where the boys were waiting. The girls chatted while Star kept glancing behind them. Sevyn didn't need to look to know Michael was dragging Sam along to follow his new crush.
When they reached the bikes, Sevyn grinned and ran over with Laddie. Star lazily sat on David's bike, and Sevyn threw herself at Paul. He picked her up and spun her around. She yelled at him to put her down.
"What do you say, kitten? You coming with us or going home?" David asked, his expression unreadable.
Sevyn smiled and patted her bag. "Oh, you're not getting rid of me that easy. I'm tagging along tonight." Now that things were moving forward, she wanted to spend more time with the boys and see the movie through the antagonists' eyes. She foresaw many nights together in their future.
"Sleepover!" Paul yelled before shoving Marko. They started their bikes, and Sevyn jumped onto Marko's. She hadn't ridden with him in a while. She was doing some sort of odd rotation between three of the four boys. One guess as to who wasn't in the running. (Not that he ever offered.)
David looked over and saw the boy who could potentially be his and his brothers' downfall for the first time in-person. He didn't look like much - just a lovesick fool - but David couldn't hide his smirk. He chuckled silently to himself before tearing off after his coven.
Back at the cave, Sevyn hopped off Marko's bike and pecked his cheek. He pinched her hip, making her yelp, and she ran forward laughing.
Dwayne carried Laddie on his back as they descended the stairs. She and Dwayne talked about the night in broad strokes, keeping their knowledge of things vague in case Star could hear them.
The burn barrels were lit thanks to Paul and Marko, who were now finding their places among the clutter. Dwayne let Laddie down so he could find his book. Laddie stared at Sevyn expectantly.
Sevyn rolled her eyes and nodded. "Yeah, yeah, I know what I'm good for," she muttered, digging through her bag to give Laddie her Switch. He yelled excitedly and ran off to his and Star's bed. "Be careful with that! I can't replace it," she called after him, hoping he was listening.
Metal music started playing as Sevyn lounged on the couch. She tried not to think about all the things she assumed had happened on it. Soon, Paul came over and handed her an almost finished joint before he laid down on top of her. She let out a breath as if he was squishing her.
"What are you doing?" she asked, surprised she didn't push him off.
"You're so warm and I like the sound of your heartbeat," Paul mumbled, his face buried in her cleavage. He just wanted to be close to her. After the other night, he felt like he finally had the greenlight to touch her how he wanted.
Sevyn rolled her eyes, muttering about how creepy he was, but didn't move. She wouldn't admit it, but the weight on top of her was comforting, even if he wasn't particularly warm. Her free hand starts to card languidly through his wild hair, gently working out the knots while they lay there.
As the night drifted on, Sevyn was content to soak up the time with the boys. She didn't need to be doing anything. But Paul couldn't stay still for long.
Sevyn's eyes were closed, her brain surprisingly quiet after smoking the rest of Paul's joint, when she felt lips on her collarbone. Her eyes fluttered open as she tried to make sense of what she was feeling.
When the kisses grew more insistent, Sevyn could no longer deny what was happening. She squirmed beneath the blonde rocker, her teeth sinking into her lower lip. She knew she should stop him, she still wasn't sure about everything, so she shouldn't let it continue.
Right?
Paul was completely focused on the soft skin beneath his lips and the taste of it on his tongue. He could hear her heartbeat picking up as he explored higher, trailing his affections up her neck. Without thinking, he bit down on her throat, just breaking the skin enough for a few droplets of blood to escape. That small sample made him groan, and the slight bite of pain made Sevyn shiver with excitement.
The term 'fang banger' from True Blood ran through her head at her reaction to him. She tried not to think too hard about why his bite turned her on.
Paul was swept up in Sevyn's positive reaction to him. His lips and teeth became more frantic. His hands reached down and lifted her legs under the knee, encouraging her to wrap them around his hips.
He ground his arousal against the apex of her legs, and she moaned. Before he could take things further, David put a stop to it all.
"Sun's coming up. Time to say goodnight to our little thief," he crooned, flashing Sevyn a mocking smile on his way out of the main chamber of the cave. He had been watching the pair of them writhing on the couch and he needed to get back to the elevator shaft away from the pink-haired girl. Sevyn was too tempting for her own good.
She resisted the urge to flip him off. Instead, she huffed petulantly before Paul pecked her lips.
"Goodnight, babe," he cooed, hopping off her to go follow David to the elevator shaft.
Marko sauntered over and picked her up before he laid his own version of a goodnight kiss on her, finishing it off with a harsh bite to her lower lip.
"Ouch! Jerk," she grumbled half-heartedly, pinching him as he laughed.
Lastly, Dwayne walked over and looked down at her. Turquoise met brown, and she smiled up at him. Leaning up on her toes, she dotted a kiss to his cheek. "Goodnight, Dwayne."
"Goodnight, pretty girl," he said, giving her hip a tender squeeze.
Alone now, Sevyn found the room that they had pointed out the last time she was there and threw herself on the bed. She stared up at the ceiling, thinking about what had happened so far and all the feelings that came along with it. It was all such a tangled mess. It wasn't until the first rays of dawn stretched across the coastal town that she finally found enough peace to sleep.
