It's finally here! Homecoming. If you have ever been to a school dance, you know, there is always some sort of drama.
Isabella- Homecoming Night
It was finally here. homecoming! I could hardly believe it. Ginger, Adyson, Gretchen, Holly, Katie, Milly, and I were all piled into my living room. Doing each other's hair, and makeup. And of course, gossiping.
"Gretchen! Will you please tell us who your date is already?" Adyson loudly complained.
"Nope! You'll find out when we meet up with the boys." Gretchen replied, helping Kaie with her makeup.
The tea here is Gretchen told us she had a date to homecoming. A proper date, but refuses to tell us who. I haven't been able to squeeze it out of any of the boys either.
"Let's think logically here girls." I started with authority, pausing on Ginger's hair, "We know who is getting ready across the street and we know that Baljeet is going with Ginger, Irving is with Adyson, and Phineas and Ferb don't have dates. So that leaves-"
"Buford and Django." Ginger finished for me.
"Gretchen, can we place bets?" Milly asked.
"Yea sure, this is interesting."
Hair and makeup were put on hold and bets were exchanged. Adyson, Holly, Milly, and Katie all bet $5 it was Django. Ginger and I bet the same amount on Buford.
"Oh, I am looking forward to later ladies," Gretchen said from the bathroom, first putting her dress on.
When she emerged she was wearing a floor-length black dress with a deep v-neck and flowers accenting it. She was holding her black stilettos in her hand. Her hair was braided back into a low bun.
"Gretchen!" "What a queen!" "Girl slay." Everyone was clamoring.
Now that Gretchen was done, everyone else started picking up the pace.
Milly was done next. She chose a simple emerald green dress that was also a v-neck, though less deep than Gretchen's. She put her hair half up half down.
Holly chose a delicate champagne floor-length dress with off-the-shoulder sleeves. It was flowing and lovely. She wore her hair in an Afro, having been trying more natural styles lately.
Adyson next, with a very bright and very short yellow dress. Her hair was in a tight and tall ponytail. And her shoes were the tallest of us all.
Katie was in a white two-piece dress with colorful flowers decorating it. The top had long sleeves and she wore white pumps. Her hair was pinned back simply with a flower.
Second, to last was Ginger. A knee-length red dress that fit her chest and flared to a large skirt. She chose black heels and her hair half up half down with a red bow.
Which left me. My hair was down and lightly curled. I decided on simple white flats, knowing I would be dancing most of the evening. And my dress. Floor length, light blue with sparkles with a sweetheart neckline.
We were stunning.
In fact, "We are stunning ladies." I said.
"Let's go show those boys the goddesses we have become!" Adyson boasted.
Everyone agreed happily. Grabbing our necessities, phones, keys, wallets, and lipstick, we started our way across the street.
"Mama! It's picture time!" I made sure to shout before closing the door behind me.

Ferb
Homecoming. I was looking forward to it. Getting to spend time with my friends, show off my dance moves, and impress some ladies. Currently, all the boys were over getting ready. Ironing, buttoning, and of course, gossiping.
"Buford, just tell us who your date is please!" Surprisingly, Baljeet exclaimed.
"What's it to you, nerd? I have my reason for keeping it quiet. You'll see when the girls get here." Buford replied, retying his tie for the fifth time.
I gestured to Buford. And went to help him tie it. He mumbled thanks.
I looked to Phineas, "What's up Ferb?"
I gestured to us, to Buford, across the street, and back to us.
"Ferb thinks we can narrow down who his date is."
"Yes! You're right Ferb." Baljeet said, his outfit all done.
"Ginger is with Baljeet. I'm with Adyson. Isabella doesn't have a date. And neither does Milly." Irving spoke up, working more hair gel through his hair.
"So that leaves Gretchen, Holly, and Katie," Django said for his place on the couch.
I nod in agreement. "My money is on Gretchen."
To which Buford stiffened ever so slightly. "No way man, no putting bets on this." He narrowed his eyes at us all.
I roll my eyes at him and finish tying my bow tie.
Now that I was done, I looked at what everyone else was wearing.
Phineas went classic with a white shirt, black everything else, and his usual hairstyle. His tie was done messily but he didn't mind.
Baljeet was wearing the classic as well but with a red shirt instead. He even had a red pocket square. His hair was combed but not styled.
Buford was wearing all black. His tie also had flower designs in black, adding texture to his look. He, shockingly, has his hair styled.
Django and I were tied for dressing the classiest, in my opinion. He chose a white shirt, grey vest, and dusty orange suit. His tie was dusty orange with flourishes on it. He was also the only one of us wearing brown shoes. He, like Phineas, kept his usual hairstyle.
Irving was, difficult to look at. He chose a white shirt and a bright yellow suit with a matching tie. His shoes were white and he had enough hair gel to stop a dam from breaking.
I chose a white shirt with a dark blue vest, jacket, pants, and bowtie. Slicked-back hair and black shoes rounded out my outfit.
"Oh don't you boys look so handsome!" Mom exclaimed as she walked into the living room.
"Well done, chaps! Looking spiffy, all of you." Dad said from the hallway.
"Oh, I see the girls! Go outside and meet them. We will do pictures soon." Mom shooed us out the back door.
Now in the backyard, we waited for the ladies to walk through the gate. Baljeet, Irving, and Buford all moved closer to the gate, anxiously waiting for their dates.
First through the gate was Adyson who kept to Irving and they started making out. Good thing because they were too bright to look at anyway.
Next were Katie and Milly. Looking very nice.
Then Holly and Ginger. Ginger went to Baljeet and they admired each other.
All that was left was Gretchen and Isabella. Who walked in together. Gretchen walked straight up to Buford and kissed him on the lips.
"Yes! I knew it" Isabella exclaimed, suddenly next to me.
I turned, and couldn't think. Stood before me was surely an angel. Isabella has never looked so stunning.
"You look amazing," I said breathlessly.
She turned to me, blushing slightly, about to say something.
"Oh wow! Who would have thought? Buford and Gretchen. Well, wait. Actually, you did Ferb! You totally called it. Nice job bro." Phineas said stepping between Isabella and me.
I nodded politely to him. Clearly, he didn't know he had stepped into a conversation.
"Oh, just look at everyone!" Mom said as she stepped into the backyard with Dad and Vivian. Who insisted I call her that and nothing else.
Picture-taking began. There were group pictures, individual pictures, and couple shots. I thought we were finally done when Vivian and Mom started talking quickly.
"Isabella! Two more please, Mija?" Vivian asked quickly.
"Of course. But you have enough pictures of just me."
"We want a picture of you with your boys," Vivian said, looking at me and then towards Phineas.
"Phineas come over here. You to Ferb." Mom called.
We both walked to where Isabella was.
"Okay, I lied, three pictures. On all together and then one with each boy."
"Mama! We've got to go soon." Isabella was getting anxious.
"It will only take a moment." Mom said getting the three of us in position.
We were told how to stand for each photo and, true to her word, it was done quickly. Next thing we all know. It's time for homecoming.

Isabella
It's finally here. Senior year homecoming. The only thing that can top this would be prom. Oh, I'm so excited!
We take a couple of cars to get there. Ferb drove my family's car while Phineas drove theirs. And Buford was the third car. I let Ferb keep my car keys since he had pockets, and I checked the rest of my things into a bag check. I eye Ferb and we share a look. Tonight is going to be long, but fun. Ferb and I were known for our dancing skills and during the last school dance, we were asked to dance the whole night by different people. The two of us split from the group, still checking in, and headed to the dance floor. The music gets louder as we get closer.
"Who are you looking forward to dancing with?" Ferb asks.
"Well last time Django was surprisingly skilled but it's always fun to dance with my girls. And you?"
"I always look forward to our dance. No one else is as good a partner as you." Ferb smiles gently before I lose him in the crowd.
My heart flutters at what he said. No time for that, my first dance approached.
The night begins in full swing, almost literally. My first dance partner starts us up in a bright swing. Not technically well done, but it was fun. More people cycle in and out. I see my friends every once in a while dancing or talking. The first of my friend group to get a dance is Django. By far my favorite partner so far, he lets me lead us in a simple dance so I can catch my breath. Then one by one the fireside girls find me and we begin a dance circle. Lots of people join in before it dissipates. Followed by Baljeet and Irving making my head spin from their different dance styles. Irving is doing some kind of breakdance while ballroom dancing, it's just not working. I don't want to be dancing with him anymore but he won't stop. I look around for someone to pull me out and Buford cuts in. I thank him earnestly. He tells me I would have done the same for him. Which I would, but I would have let him flounder a moment. After our dance, I begin to look for Phineas or Ferb, still needing a dance from each of them. And so I can tell Phineas how I feel.
Time passes, and I thank the person I'm dancing with and begin walking around. I get stopped a few times and I don't have the heart to tell them no. I can't find Phineas anyway. I can use the dances to find him, hopefully. I manage to find Ferb. His face is neutral as he dances with someone I have never seen before. She has long blonde hair with bangs and is wearing a short white dress with ruffles and sequins. I'm surprised she is dancing so well in her very tall heels. My partner and I part ways and I bump into someone.
"Oh sorry. Hey Isabella!" Oh good, it was Phineas.
"I've been looking for you." I point a finger at him in mock accusation.
"You have?"
"Yea, I want to dance with you."
"Okay let's go!"
He quickly spins me into a quick-moving dance. There is little form, but all fun.
"Have you seen that girl that Ferb is dancing with?" Phineas asks.
"Yea, why are you asking?" I ask genuinely confused.
"She was my desk partner in science. She told me she kinda had a thing for Ferb and wanted to dance with him at homecoming. So I set them up."
"What?" Phineas set up a dance for his brother.
"Yea! Her name is Jazmin. Don't they look great together?" He spins me so I can see them together.
After a moment he spins me back, "She seems to know what she's doing." She looked great with Ferb. Though Ferb still had a neutral expression on his face and he definitely was not leading.
"Yea. I'm glad I could help them out. How's your night been?"
"Exhausting, but absolutely wonderful!"
"Oh, yea I saw you dancing with all those people."
"I knew it would happen. That's why I wore flats."
"Very smart. I expect nothing less from the chief of the best fireside girl troop."
"All fireside girl troops are good Phineas."
"Yours is still the best."
I roll my eyes at him as the song ends. Another person steps in and Phineas hands me off.
"See you later Izzy. Have fun!"
"Thanks, you too!" And I'm off being led into a new dance.
It takes me an embarrassing three more dances to realize it. I never told Phineas how I felt. That was the whole point of dancing with him tonight! I let Ferb and that girl, Jazmin, get in the way. For the record, the two of them were still dancing. Clearly, she was monopolizing his time. The next person asked me to dance, and I declined, letting them know I was going to ask Ferb for a dance. Word spread quickly. Isabella and Ferb were going to dance. A small crowd had begun to follow me and form around where Ferb and Jazmin were.
I politely waited for the song to be over before stepping up to the two of them.
"May I cut in?" I nicely asked.
Ferb had begun to nod when Jazmin spoke up, "Ugh, no."
I reeled. I could feel other people flinch as well. Ferb looked offended.
"Oh, I'm sorry. I just want one dance with Ferb." I say, holding back my anger.
Ferb starts to say something when Jazmin interrupts, "he's taken, clearly. Are you blind or something? Come on Ferb." She takes his hand and drags him back onto the dance floor.
I stand, staring at the spot they had left.
"Whoa." "Brutal." "That was crazy." People around me clamored.
I couldn't think. I started walking out. Out of the dance, out of the venue. To my car. Into my car. It doesn't open.
"Ugh, Ferb has my keys," I say to no one.
I didn't want to go back inside yet. That means I am going to stand around outside for a while.
"How did this night even come to this?"
"I certainly know how you feel," Ferb said behind me.
"Ferb! You scared me."
"My ninja skills are too good."
I chuckle, "what about Jazmin?"
"Oh her? I don't want to spend time with someone who speaks over me. And I owe you a dance."
"That's right, you do." I point at him.
Then I feel a drop of water on my arm. Ferb must have felt one too because we both look up at the same time. The next thing we know, it's pouring. I panic for a moment, our outfits! I look at Ferb, he's holding his hand out to me. He had taken his jacket off and rolled his sleeves up at some point.
"May I have this dance?"
I stare, "Ferb it's pouring!"
He shrugs, "It could be a hurricane and I wouldn't turn down a dance with you. You make me fearless, Isabella."
And at that moment, even with all the rain. I swear I saw sparks fly when he smiled.
"Okay. Let's dance."
I took his hand and he pulled me in close. He was still smiling, so I returned it. We danced. It started slow and planned. A song was in his head that I didn't recognize as he led me in a waltz. I pushed his lead a little and he let me. We sped up, it turned from a waltz to a cha-cha. We kept switching who was leading, dancing through many styles until we were both laughing. He took the lead again, spinning me around and around. I was spun out and back in. Then lifted. I gasped, we hadn't done many lifts. It felt amazing. He laughed with me and set me back down. I looked into his eyes, we were very close together.
"Thank you for the dance Ferb."
"Anytime, Bella."
We walked back to the building, dripping wet. The homecoming was over now anyway, I waited while Ferb went to get his jacket, my bag, Ginger and Baljeet. They had driven with us. He came back with everything and everyone in tow and immediately placed his jacket on my shoulders and my bag around it.
"Your jacket is gonna get all wet, Ferb."
He gave me a look that left no room for argument.
And with that, we left. We had all agreed to have the after-party in Phineas and Ferb's backyard. And even though it was still raining, the boys had made it so the yard stayed dry. I smiled, loving their creativity. The rest of the night was spent talking, eating, and hanging out with each other.
It was a perfect ending to a great day.
Expect it wasn't over. Someone had put another movie on. I was half paying attention, half spacing out happily, thinking of the night.
"Hey, Isabella!" Phineas brought my attention back.
"Hey, Phineas. Whatcha doing?"
"Sitting with you." He chuckled nervously.
"Are you nervous, Phineas?" I am very confused right now.
"Yea, a little." He rubbed the back of his neck with his hand.
"Why?"
"Cause I want to ask you something."
"Oh, okay. Well just ask it then." He looked to the ground blushing a little so I kept going, "Come on Phin, we've been friends for years. You can ask me anything."
"Right, yea, okay. Here goes. Isabella, will you go on a date with me?"
What?
