It was their second year.

The cherry blossoms were fading away. Both Izuku and Momo were staring out the window as the last ones clung to the branches. They didn't have a fluttering glitter as they departed.

'After everything that's happened, we haven't had time to talk about it... or at least that's what I want to believe.' To Izuku, the start of the second year was a fresh start and yet.

'After everything that's happened, I don't know if we lost the chance to talk about it.' To Momo, the start of the new year was a chance to pick were her and Midoriya left off.

The lunch period had started. They both stood from their desks, getting ready to leave the classroom. They both turned their heads slightly to each other, almost making eye contact.

"Hey, Deku lets go get lunch." Uraraka had her adorable airhead smile with Iida standing next to her with his robot arm movements.

"Yo, Yaomomo lets go get some grub." Jiro had that chill vibe with a small smirk.

They both had to turn away from there almost meeting eyes, back to their friends.

"Um, yeah sounds good to me." He said in his usual cheer, but it wasn't honest. 'I thought I could talk to Yaoyorozu during this time but I can't blow them off like that after we finally got our peaceful days back.'

"Of course Kyoka, sounds lovely." She said in her usual elegance, but it wasn't earnest. 'I had hoped to talk to Midoriya, but spending time with Kyoka is important after everything that has happened, as well.'

They both headed towards the exit. Izuku walked with his friends to the door at the front of the class. Momo and Kyoka headed towards the door at the back of the class. They had both left the class at the same time.Izuku and his friends walked in one direction, Momo and Kyoka walked in the other.

After a few steps, Izuku looked back, seeing Momo giggling alongside her friend, he smiled and shook his head as he began to look forward again. 'I'm overthinking it like always, Me and Yaoyorozu have all year to talk.'

After a few more steps, Momo turned her head, having felt a gaze, maybe his? She saw him nodding along to his friends' conversation, and her lips lifted softly. She shook her head with a smile going back to talking with Kyoka. 'I was just over analyzing like I always do. Midoriya and I have the rest of the year to have a proper conversation.'

It was after school. The students were leaving and Izuku thought that was a good chance to talk to her, maybe not the actual talk they needed but something. "H-Hey, Y-Yaoyorozu." He greeted as he walked to her desk. His legs were wobbling but he did his best to hide that.

"Eeip!" She accidentally squeaked after hearing his voice. She had been gathering her things and didn't see him approach. She raised her head to him. "M-Midoriya?!" Her cheeks heated up at the memory before she did her best to recompose herself. "H-Hello, how have you been?"

He also grew a blush from her actions, realizing he didn't give her a chance to brace herself. "I, um, I'm good, i've been trying to take care of myself like you said." And he added a light hearted chuckle to lighten the mood.

Yaoyorozu gave a warm sigh at his words as she tilted her head, tucking the loose strand of hair behind her ear. And her eyes, they became sincere, "Have you?"

His eyes went wide as he almost let out an audible gasb at the genuine care in her voice. His eyes softened as he smiled back at her. "Yeah, Yaoyorozu, I have."

"Good." And she had a small giggle enjoying the nostalgic atmosphere between them.

"Yeah..."

"...Yes."

Suddenly Yaorozu's spiral ponytail spiked upwards like a cat's tail as she remembered something. "Pardon Midoriya! I have to go intern today and I shouldn't be late." She hastily gathered her things as she got up.

"Oh, um, yeah okay, we can talk any time." And the implication of the talk he was referring to was in there, despite him not intending it to sound that way. The weight of it caused them both to tense.

Yaoyorozu stopped her quick movements and turned to him. She was holding her schoolbag like a purse, holding the strap dearly as she bit her at her inner cheek. They made eye contact as she began to speak.

"Ne, Midoriya?"

"Y-Yeah, Yaoyorozu?"

"We're here, right?"

"Yeah... always will be."

She squeezed the strap softly as she let out the beloved sigh. She smiled at him before making her leave. "Okay I have to leave, but it's like we said, Okay?" With her lips rising ever so tenderly at him.

"Okay." With his eyes growing that enamored emerald.

Izuku and Momo parted ways that day having smiles of hope for the year, not realizing that was the closest they would get to talking about that night...

Anytime Izuku had some free time he would try to hang out with Momo, but she was always working... Always working.

Anytime Yaoyorozu could finally take a break, Deku would have to go save the day. Running his body ragged... Always running his body ragged.

The only time they had to talk were those fleeting moments after school before they had to go live their own lives. And those conversations became briefer and briefer. And they became less intimate, less and less intimate every time.

Until those conversations eventually ended...

Some days when they were leaving with their friends for lunch, Izuku would stare back, other days it was Momo...

And yet their eyes would never meet.

Little by little, as the months went by, eventually, they stopped looking back.

One time, Izuku caught himself looking back, he shrugged his shoulders and didn't bother anymore. One time, Momo caught herself giggling about to glance back at him, before she inwardly sighed and let it go...

It was the day she became his maid...

Mandalay burst into the locker room as Momo was fidging in there nervously, panicking at the lack of income from the lack of clients. She turned her eyes to Mandalay confused at her happy attitude. "Eh!? Is something the matter, Mandalay?"

She shook her head not able to contain her grin.

"I think I just found the perfect client for you!"
