Season 1, Episode 3: Change of plans
23rd of March/Age: 749
Diablo Desert
The sweltering heat of the Diablo Desert was staggering to say the least as Tia got off at her stop and started making her way towards Fry Pan Mountain in the distance. The place is entirely engulfed by fire and locals at the village where the bus stopped had warned that the place was cursed by a fire demon or wizard that set the entire kingdom ablaze.
Each rumor of the flames source was different but one thing the rumors all had in common was that the former ruler known as the Ox King is an extremely dangerous and bloodthirsty individual who kills anyone that dares to try and steal his treasure.
Tia understandably felt extremely nervous about this but knew that it was far too late to turn back now. So, instead she took out her map of the region and started following the roadways towards the mountain.
The walk was long and boring, but Tia was thankful for that because she didn't run into any bandits or deadly wild animals that wanted to try human flesh. Granted she saw a few wild animals and bugs like a giant dragonfly or a yellow tailed horn lizard, but they didn't bother people and typically ran away the moment they noticed her.
"This heat is intense." Tia said to herself as the closer she got to the mountain the more intense the heat got as sweat clung to her and she was forced to take shelter underneath a series of large trees near the shore as she stumbled upon the lake of Diablo Desert that leads out into the great ocean.
Tia was able to sit against one of the trees and enjoy the shade as she took a break from the intense heat thanks to the salty yet cool air from the small body of water nearby. Sadly, the peace and quiet wasn't meant to last after she heard a loud gunshot go off and felt a sharp pain in her right arm, making her scream out in pain as she fell onto her side as she glanced at the distance vessel on the lake that appeared to be a ship with several people on it and one of those people held something in their hands that Tia guessed was a rifle.
She didn't need an invitation to quickly run away.
[Quest Alert!
Name: Escape the smalltime pirate crew.
You have been targeted by a small-time pirate crew looking to make it big through piracy and the slave trade and they intend to make you their latest victim.
Objective: Escape or defeat all the pirates.
Rewards: 400 XP!
Failure: Enslavement, defilement and possible death.
Do you accept this quest? Y/N?]
Tia quickly accepted the quest as she kept running while holding her arm before stopping in another clearing to inspect her wounded arm while hiding in some bushes. She gained some distance from the pirates and focused on trying to survive with the intense heat now being the furthest thing from her mind.
"Damn it." Tia groaned in pain as the bullet hit just below her right shoulder and hurt like hell. Tia thought that stung might have been the wrong word to describe it and instead compared it to a burning feeling and the more she thought about it the worse it got until her perk Players Mind came into effect.
With her breathing steadying as her mind forcibly calmed itself. Tia was able to ignore the pain and quietly listen as she heard footsteps nearby making her eyes go wide at either how fast they were able to dock their boat and catch up to her on foot or that she didn't run as far or as fast as she thought she had when she kneeled in the shrubbery to examine her wound.
"Where'd that bitch go?" One of them asked as Tia was able to see four pirates from her hiding spot. Each with guns and clearly looking for her.
"She's around here somewhere! We find her, bag her and get our Zeni's worth out of her! Now hurry up and find her before the Ox shows up!" The captain ordered with clear authority and anger in his voice as the three men went looking for Tia who started trying to find a way out of this mess.
One small footstep after another was all it took as Tia slowly and carefully started making her escape.
[You have created the [Sneak] skill.]
Tia ignored the screen alert and slowly felt some hope for escape before she heard someone scream.
"Found her!"
Tia quickly activated her Mana Shield and rightfully so as a bullet quickly and severely cracked her shield from the hit before she started running and recasting her shield spell repeatedly as bullets shot and broke her shield before she ended up falling onto the ground thanks to an unseen rock. The moment she turned onto her back she saw the pirates were closing the distance but before they got even closer.
The leader of the crew had just been viciously sliced in half horizontally from the waistline via a massive single bladed axe that landed in the ground near the captain whose body split apart and fell to the ground.
"You pirates dare to invade my kingdom again! This time you'll face no mercy!" A massive voice shouted as Tia looked to the direction the axe had been thrown and saw a massive man in what looked almost like regal looking armor for a desert kingdom.
Ox, Level: 30
Ox King/King of Fry Pan Mountain
Tia had accidentally stumbled upon her target and could do nothing but watch as he easily overpowered and dispatched the pirates with sheer strength and his now bloodied axe.
Tia motioned to get up to try and run again but stopped when the pain in her arm wound flared up again and frankly, she was already starting to overheat from the intense temperature as well. So, blood loss plus overheating and stress was more than enough to overwhelm Tia as she saw one last game screen before she passed out.

Diablo Desert/Jala-Peo Village
Tia woke up in a slight daze. Her body felt a bit cooler now despite feeling heavy and sluggish. She noticed that she was in a nice-looking room with AC of all things and that a cold-water rag had been placed on her head. So, after removing the rag and sitting up she saw a girl about two or three years younger than her sitting in a wooden chair and reading a book while dressed in a two-piece blue bikini themed armor with a cape and a strange, bladed helmet on her head.
Chi-Chi, Level: 7
Fire Princess/Scholar
Chi-Chi lowered her book and noticed that Tia had woken up and decided to speak.
"Good morning."
"Good morning to you to." Tia replied with a light chuckle. "Where are we?"
"You're in my dad's house in Jala-Peo village. He brought you here after he fought some nasty pirates that keep stirring up trouble." Chi-Chi explained before the room to the door opened and stepping into the room was none other than the massive Ox himself; now dressed in causal clothing instead of his armor.
"It's good to see you awake. You've been asleep for an entire day little lady." Ox said with surprising tenderness.
"Sorry about that and thanks for helping me." Tia said before glancing at her wounded arm and noticed that her arm was bandaged up already and that she was in a patient's gown.
"No problem. But you're incredibly lucky. The doctor said that the bullet barely nicked bone before leaving your arm. Although it must have hurt a lot." Ox said with a chuckle.
"Daddy, don't be mean." Chi-Chi said to her father who stopped laughing.
"Oh, sorry. I wasn't laughing at you or anything girl." Ox quickly apologized to Tia and made her wonder if this was the same person who killed a group of pirates.
"It's fine and again I want to say thanks for saving me, but I am also hoping to speak with you, Mr. Ox."
"About what?" Ox asked Tia who explained how she made it to the Diablo Desert and that she was hoping he could point her in the right direction of the legendary Muten Roshi. "I know where the master is, but I can't take you to him. I'm needed here."
"Do, you think you could show me where he is on a map?" Tia asked before Ox nodded his head. Tia then summoned a spare map from her inventory which shocked Ox and his daughter, but he simply pointed out where the old martial arts master could be found.
"You should rest up a bit more before heading out, but before that. Can I ask a small favor of you?" Ox asked and Tia replied bluntly.
"Sure. You saved my life so it's the least I could do as long as it isn't anything illegal."
"Well, as you could probably guess. The fire of Fry Pan Mountain is troubling, and Master Roshi has something known as the Bansho Fan. With one swing of the fan, it can create an incredibly powerful wave of wind. A second swing can create an incredible downpour of rain, and a third wave will create a monsoon." Ox explained and Tia knew that an item like that had to be magical in origin. "If you reach the master, please ask him to let you bring the fan here so we can put out the blasted flames that plague my kingdom."
[Quest Alert!
Name: Fire and Water
Ox King has saved your life and asked you to help put out the fire that engulfs his kingdom. It's only fair that you help him out.

Objective 2: Obtain the Bansho Fan
Objective 3: Return and put of the flames engulfing Fry Pan Mountain.
Rewards: 500 XP! Increased Reputation with Ox, Increased Reputation with Chi-Chi, Increased Reputation with Muten Roshi.
Failure: Null.
Do you accept this quest? Y/N?]
Tia didn't see an issue with repaying kindness with kindness and simply accepted the quest before speaking.
"It won't be any trouble. When I find Muten Roshi, I'll ask him to let me use the fan to put out the intense flames." Tia replied while Chi-Chi and Ox were overjoyed.
"Wonderful. But before I forget, you'll need this." Ox said before he reached into his pocket and took out a capsule with a boat design on it. "That's my old speedboat in a Hoi-Poi capsule. You'll need it to reach the master's island."
"Thanks. Also, where are my clothes?" Tia asked bluntly before Ox and Chi-Chi went to get them from the doctor as they allowed her to rest and recover in the meantime.
Later
It was around four o'clock when Tia made her way back to the lake of the desert that stretched out into the great ocean.
Tia is dressed in a green long-sleeved shirt with jeans and boots on her feet along with an orange life jacket over her chest as she tossed the Hoi-Poi capsule over the water and in a large cloud of compressed gasses, the speedboat appeared on the water with a splash.
Tia got in the boat and quickly found the pilot's manual which also counted as a skill book for her to use.
[You have learned the [Sailing] skill.]
"To the legendary martial arts master I go." Tia said before she set off after making sure she had everything she needed for the trip.
[Quest Complete!

27th of March/Age: 749
Great Ocean/Kame House
The boat ride was nice in Tia's opinion. She didn't run into any pirates and there was no storm that threatened her safety, and she even saw a few dolphins jumping out of the water before diving back in.
If she wasn't on this journey, she might have considered picking up boating as a career, but she was brought back to reality after following her map and making her way to a small island with a pink house on it with a small amount of grass underneath it while the rest of the island was sandy.
Tia docked her boat and made sure it wasn't going to get swept away into the tide as she brought it onto the sandy land before turning to walk towards the house door only to hear the door already unlocking as an old man in a tropical shirt and shorts walked out with a large, gnarled walking stick in hand.
"It's not often I get pretty visitors on this island. So, what brings you here? But be warned that I have no patience or mercy for salesmen or saleswomen." Roshi said bluntly as Tia noticed the information floating above the man's head.
Muten Roshi, Level: 50
Turtle Hermit/God of Martial Arts
"Well, I'm not here to sell anything. I actually came here for two reasons. The first is that I'm hoping you can take me on as an apprentice in martial arts and the second is your former student, Ox King. Needs the Bansho Fan to put out the flames covering his kingdom." Tia explained and Roshi hummed in thought while stroking his long and magnificent beard.
"I'll give you the Bansho Fan, but I can't train you."
Those words made the atmosphere shift, and Tia couldn't help but feel disappointed.
"May I ask why?"
"I need time to prepare a proper training routine for my students and this island isn't suitable for the training that I have to offer." Roshi replied calmly and honestly.
"Fair enough I suppose. Although this does put a monkey wrench in my plans." Tia admitted with a light chuckle while Roshi raised an eyebrow from behind his sunglasses.
"And what plans were those?"
"Well, I intended to train with you, but I also wanted to test my abilities at the East City martial arts games."
"A gathering of martial artists competing with one another. Reminds me of my youth, but that's enough reminiscing. Stay here and I'll bring you the fan." Roshi said before going back into his home while Tia waited but after a minute or two, she heard some concerning sounds. "Where is that blasted thing?"
"That doesn't sound good." Tia whispered to herself while she sat on the sand near the shore with her boots and socks off as she let her feet remain in the water that washed up against the sand before she stood up as the old master exited the house.
"Ok, so I can't find the blasted fan." Roshi said with his own level of bluntness.
"Ox isn't going to be happy about that." Tia said as she lowered her head a bit before Roshi spoke up again.
"Bah. I didn't say the fire couldn't be put out girl. I'm just going to have to go out there and put the flames out myself." Roshi replied.
"Oh, okay. The speedboat might be a bit cramped for two people, but we can make it work." Tia said back as she put her socks and boots back on.
"We won't need it girl. I have faster ways for us to travel." Roshi said before raising his gnarled stick. "Come to me Nimbus and baby Gamera!"
Tia stared at Roshi for a moment and started wondering if the legendary martial artist had gone insane during his seclusion but sure enough, she saw two figures appear and land on the island. The first is a golden cloud while the second is a large and fanged turtle.
"What are these things?"
"Just things I picked up on my adventures in the past." Roshi bragged before the turtle spoke.
"Where to boss?"
"I need an express flight to Fry Pan Mountain." Roshi replied while the fanged turtle nodded its head.
"Can do."
"Um, how am I supposed to get there? I can't sit on a cloud." Tia said while pointing at the Nimbus cloud while Roshi hopped onto the shell of the baby Gamera.
"It's a magic cloud girl and you can ride it as long as your pure of heart." Roshi assured.
"Pure of heart?" Tia questioned while the old man nodded his head and motioned for Tia to try and get onto the cloud. "I guess I can give it a try, but if this is a prank I'm going to be angry." Tia said before placing the speedboat back in its Hoi-Poi capsule that she shoved into her pocket before she slowly climbed onto the cloud and felt that she wasn't falling through it and instead she was fully able to sit cross legged on the cloud with ease.
[The [Flying Nimbus] has read your heart and soul and deemed you pure of heart.]
"Whoa." Tia said in shock as the cloud started levitating higher into the air while the turtle that Roshi was on did the same as its legs all retreated back into its shell and in its place came out red and orange flames as the turtle spun around in a full three-hundred and sixty degree spin of dizzying speeds before it raced off towards Fry Pan Mountain while the Nimbus chased after the turtle at impressive speeds as well.

The feeling of wind on your face while you're flying at faster than normal speeds was just as fun as sailing had been for Tia. Baby Gamera and the Flying Nimbus had both landed at the village a fair distance away from the burning castle built into a mountain which quickly had a few villagers' attention including Ox and Chi-Chi who made their way to the scene as Roshi and Tia both got off their mounts.
"Tia your back and you brought the master my dad was talking about. But where's the fan?" Chi-Chi asked innocently after rushing up to Tia as the two of them had quickly formed a friendship in the short amount of time they'd seen each other.
"Well-" Tia was cut off from the sound of a thud as she looked over and saw that Roshi had collapsed onto the ground with a loud groan.
"Master!" Ox cried in concern.
"You just brute forced your way through the motion sickness huh?" Tia asked flatly to the downed man who slowly got back up to his feet.
"That's the major flaw of riding with Baby Gamera." Roshi said before covering his mouth with a gaging noise before he regained his composure.
"Is this really the old master that my father learned from?" Chi-Chi asked with skepticism.
"He may not look like much, but he's really strong." Tia assured while Roshi looked on at the fire in the distance.
"Ox, it's a shame you can't put these flames out yourself. You're a student, of the turtle school damn it." Roshi scolded his former student.
"I'm sorry master." Ox replied with his head lowered in shame to his master.
"That's not even mentioning the horrible rumors I've heard about you. Killing people for trying to steal your treasure and acting out with greed for more of it." Roshi scolded some more while Ox continued to apologize and Chi-Chi along with the rest of the villagers couldn't believe what they were seeing as their powerful and sometimes scary overseer was scared to death of a fragile looking old man.
"Please forgive me master. I was corrupted with greed and sin. I swear I'll change." Ox pleaded while Roshi sighed.
"See that you do, and I expect the proper payment when I'm done putting out this fire." Roshi said before he moved away from Ox and the group before hopping onto a brick wall or more specifically the top of it as he dropped his walking stick and with a deep breath his entire body changed and doubled in size as the frail old man became a hulking mass of physical strength.
Tia and everyone other than Ox were shocked once again before Roshi started moving his hands in a precise way.
"He's going to do it. He's going to use the legendary Kamehameha." Ox proclaimed as Roshi brought his hands at his side and formed a ball of condensed blue light.
"Ka-me-ha-me-HA!" Roshi exclaimed as he thrust his hands outwards towards the burning mountain castle and released a blindingly bright beam of condensed Ki that contacted the castle as everyone shielded their eyes from the blast.
"Holy shit!" Tia shouted with her eyes clenched shut and her ears ringing from the sound of a large explosion of energy that sent out a concussive wave of wind hitting everyone and even knocking some people over.
It took Tia a moment to wipe her eyes with her hands before she was able to open them on her own and see the devastation that was caused by Roshi's legendary attack.
"The castle." Ox said in shock.
"It's all gone." Chi-Chi cried out as all that reminded with a sizeable trench in the landscape that was formerly the flaming castle of Fry Pan Mountain.
"Oops. I guess I used a bit too much energy." Roshi said with a chuckle while scratching the back of his head while a few people doubled over or fell onto their backs from his response.
After a brief adjustment period to get over the shock and devastation. Roshi was thanked by a few people including Ox King himself for putting out the flames. His payment is what made Tia slightly thankful that the old man refused to train her yet.
What was the payment you asked? Well, Ox brought over a small wooden chest to Roshi who opened it and practically looked like a child entering a candy store and with curiosity empowering her, Tia looked over the old man's shoulder and saw that the payment was a bunch of dirty mags, making her scowl and weaken her respect for the man.
'The martial arts master is a giant pervert.' Tia thought to herself before she cleared her throat and got the man's attention.
"Before you go, when do you think you'd be able to train me?" Tia asked the man who hummed in thought for a moment.
"It's hard to say, but when the time is right, I'll find you. Besides, there are dozens of places for a youngster like you to visit and learn from before the East City tournament gets underway. Try learning from other dojos to refine your technique in the meantime." Roshi advised and Tia acquiesced.
Just like that Roshi took off with his payment while riding the Flying Nimbus and the villagers quickly went to work on starting to rebuild from the ruins of the former castle.
Tia, being the good bean that she is decided to stay and help out as well.

END!
Narrator: Our hero has not only made her way to Fry Pan Mountain but also found the legendary Muten Roshi. Sadly, her time to train under him has not come to pass and instead she must go out and learn on her own before the East City tournament begins.
How will she fair in the upcoming tournament? Who are the enemies she is going to face? And just how strong can she become before the annual worldwide martial arts tournament itself? Stay tuned for the answers to these questions and more.
A/N: Okay another episode done and boy did this episode change from what I originally intended, but the change is for the best and it allows me to flesh things out a bit more because a gamer story for Dragon Ball is tough to write.
But I won't bore you all with the details. Just remember to please fav, follow and review.
