Season 1, Episode 4: Lions and Bandits
10th of April/Age: 749
Zinc Village/Diablo Desert
It has been a long time since the destruction of Fry Pan Mountain and from that day not only did Tia help out where she could but she also got some combat training from Ox King and Chi-Chi in the form of a few friendly spars which helped improved Tia's stats a fair bit and while saving her stat and perk points as she traveled, she made her way to Zinc village. A nice place and it was where she found herself watching students train in a dojo where the students learned the art of Lion Style kung-fu.
"Takes me back." Tia commented while looking at the students while she was outside the dojo looking in.
[The system update V2.003B has been completed and new abilities have been added into the system along with several bug fixes and errors.]
Tia hummed in thought while looking on at the screen before shrugging and dismissing the alert.
"I see your interested in martial arts." A voice said from behind Tia. She turned around and saw a grown man with a trained fighters physique standing across from her with a smirk while his arms were crossed.
Ichigo, Level: 22
Lion Fist Master
"I am. I'm on a short journey to learn more about martial arts before the upcoming martial arts tournament."
"To see someone so young dedicated to the art does my heart good. So, how would you like to spar against some of my students?" Ichigo asked which confused Tia for a bit.
"I don't practice your martial arts style and I'm a stranger. Not a dojo destroyer." Tia replied while the man chuckled.
"The fact that you don't practice makes you the perfect person to train against for my students. They learn and practice the art but lack experience outside of the dojo and in the tournament, you'd be facing unfamiliar styles and combatants. So, this arrangement works out for all involved."
[Quest Alert!
Name: Lion Training
Ichigo, aka the master of the Lion Fist martial arts is asking you to fight against his students for their benefit as well as yours. Why not hone your skills a bit.
Objective: Defeat as many, Lion Fist martial artists as you can.
Rewards: Increased XP depending on how many martial artists you defeat! 1200 Zeni!
Failure: Null.
Will you accept this quest? Y/N?]
Tia gave the idea some thought before mentally accepting the quest before speaking.
"Training against other fighters will give me more fighting experience, so sure."
"Excellent. Follow me." Ichigo said before he led Tia into the dojo as the class was being taught by Ichigo's longest and highest trained student turned teacher.
Dave, Level: 17
Lion Fist Elite
"Greetings master Ichigo. Have you brought us a new student?" Dave asked while giving the students a break and looking Tia over.
"Actually, that is what I'm here to talk about with not just you but with all the students." Ichigo said, getting everyone's attention. "This girl is going to be sparring with the most advanced students of the class in tournament style mock battles. Were going to be seeing how much you lot have been paying attention in class and training outside of it."
"Hi." Tia said nervously when all the other teens looked at her.
"Do you want me to participate as well?" Dave asked while Tia got a good look at him.
Dave couldn't have been a day older than eighteen with tanned skin and curly hair while wearing a white long sleeved gi and trousers followed by a black belt around his waist.
"Of course. If that's fine with you?" Ichigo asked Tia who nodded her head.
"It's no trouble at all." Tia replied before she prepared for the fight by removing her shoes and socks before getting into the center of the dojo and gave everyone a courteous bow of respect that was graciously returned as she lowered herself into her standard karate stance with slowed yet controlled breathing as the first challenger stepped up.
The kid was young and probably still in middle school, but Tia smiled at his courage as he got into his own stance before the battle started between Tia and the kid named Lien.
Lien attacked with fast strikes and short kicks while attempting to push Tia back who responded by blocking or dodging the attacks until she retaliated by grabbing his foot when he went in for a kick and tossed it aside making him spin before she landed her own kick to his stomach which staggered him before Tia closed the distance and struck with a palm strike to his chest, knocking him down since he had fallen out of his stance and couldn't maintain proper balance.
"Fall back, Lien. It seems we need to go over a few classes on maintaining proper stance when struck." Ichigo said while Lien frowned a bit before standing up and bowing to Tia again.
Tia bowed in, kind and could empathize with the kid. When she was training there were one or two students in class with her that struggled to maintain the proper stance and footwork during spars.
[You have gained 90 XP!]
Five more fights followed, the first with Tia taking a few good hits but still coming out as the victor and it seemed that through the entire class. The advanced students were only five in number while the others observed while sitting in a kneeling form against the backwall as Dave himself stepped up as the final challenger.
"Are you sure you don't want to drink any water and rest a bit before we start?" Dave asked with concern while Tia was breathing a bit heavy from the effort, she put in along with how active the fights had become after the second when the students started pouring everything, they had into trying to defeat her.
"I'm fine and ready to rumble. So, don't you dare hold back or I'll never forgive you." Tia replied while lowering herself into the proper stance once again before Dave did the same and the fight started.
Dave was in a league above Tia in not just levels but in experience and ability since she was put on the defense by Dave's series of strikes that alternated between feints, palm strikes, jabs and crosses aimed at her torso or head.
Tia raised her arms and blocked some of the strikes aimed at her head before she jumped to avoid a low kick but the moment her feet returned to the ground, Dave switched his momentum and kicked his already extended foot backwards before Tia could jump again.
Tia hit the ground but remembered her training as she used her legs to kick at Dave who tried to close the distance and strike while she used her arms to crawl backwards. After a strong kick to his knee, he finally gave her the space she needed to get up and attack as she delivered a side kick to Dave which he caught with his arm before he grabbed hold of her leg with his free hand. He quickly dropped to the ground with a side spin which brought Tia down and allowed Dave to quickly mount and sit on her chest before placing his right forearm down across Tia's neck.
"Surrender." Dave advised before Tia headbutted him in the face, making his head move backwards a bit and giving Tia enough room to push Dave off before she got back onto her feet while Dave did the same and dusted himself off before returning to a ready stance.
"You brought your face too close to mine. That's risky." Tia said with a joking smirk making Dave smirk in return.
"Fair enough. But I think it's about time I showed you what I'm made of." Dave said before taking a deep breath as Tia could somehow sense energy building up in the air…No. Not in the air but energy was building up around Dave.
The energy then condensed itself around Dave's hands before he rushed Tia who used her arms to block a powerful jab from Dave and when the jab connected with Tia's raised arms, she was pushed back against the wall she had her back towards and felt as it her arms were just hit by a damn truck.
[You have lost 87 HP!]
"What was that? That punch was way stronger then normal." Tia said with a surprised look on her face before Ichigo himself spoke.
"I think that's enough for now. Everyone did, fairly well during this exercise." Ichigo said before Tia sat down on the dojo mat with a sigh as she saw new alerts appear before her eyes.

"Awesome fight. Also, sorry for hitting you so hard. I didn't break anything did I?" Dave asked after offering Tia a hand up that she accepted as she rose back up to her feet while dusting herself off.
"No, you didn't break anything. Besides, what kind of technique was that? I didn't learn a technique like that when I was trained in karate." Tia said back before Ichigo cleared out the other students before walking up to the two teens.
"Before we get into that conversation it wouldn't be right if I didn't offer you any compensation. So, here." Ichigo said before he gave Tia the 1200 Zeni in bills that the quest had promised her and honestly it helped Tia relax a bit when she just learned that the money wasn't counterfeit or stolen from someone for it to magically appear in her inventory.
"Thank you but you didn't need to pay me. I was grateful for the experience." Tia replied before stashing the Zeni in her pocket while secretly placing it in her inventory.
"I insist. My students need experience like this and the technique my student used was a simple jab. But what made it so powerful is that he enhanced his attack with his inner energy known as Ki." Ichigo explained while Dave nodded his head. "Ki or Chakra if you prefer is the energy that sustains all living things and with training you could also learn how to properly use it."
"So, it wasn't a fancy technique at all? I thought it was something like my Gale Force Palm technique." Tia replied making both Dave and Ichigo raise an eyebrow of curiosity.
"And what exactly is that technique?" Ichigo asked before Tia got in a ready stance while looking away from Ichigo and Dave before she focused her Ki and used her Gale Force Palm skill to strike at nothing but the air. But the two martial artists felt the energy that she had just given off with the strike as she straightened herself up and turned back towards her fellow fighters.
"It's an enhanced palm strike. I use my Ki to enhance my striking speed to knock a person off balance or away from me. I didn't use it in this fight though, which might have been a mistake on my part." Tia said with a slightly embarrassed chuckle while scratching the back of her head.
"That ability is certainly unique. No matter how strong a person is, a palm strike in the right place with the right amount of force will always do some damage. Ichigo explained.
"Thanks. And if you don't mind. Would it be okay if I trained with you guys at the dojo some more?" Tia asked bluntly while Ichigo thought it over a bit.
"I don't see why not. Besides, you're on a journey of self-discovery in martial arts. So, I wouldn't be a good martial artist if I turned you away from the experience and knowledge you're searching for." Ichigo replied with a smile.
"I'd be happy to spar with you again." Dave said with a bow of respect. "There's a spare room in the back for wanderers like yourself. You can use it to sleep and what not until you wish to move on."
"Thanks. I promise you won't regret this." Tia said before she made her way to the back room where she saw that it was minimalist in terms of style. A simple bed with an open closet, window and dresser along with a private bathroom.
She wouldn't complain about it since she was a bit tired of sleeping outdoors and while she sat on the bed, she took the time to look over her stats.

[Sorry about that. Some data wasn't fully completed with the update and now things have been fully patched. The issue was the perk system itself and certain perks that should be qualified as skills have been safely resolved.

"Okay…I guess I can update my abilities now." Tia said before she went to work.

"Good little boost to my power and at first, I thought I was pretty strong. But now I know I still have a long way to go, and it makes me a bit worried about how I'm supposed to win the tournament." Tia admitted to herself with a sigh before she laid down on the bed.
She also remembered that it had been a while since she talked with her parents and decided to take out her phone and give them a call.

Zinc Village/Diablo Desert
"HA!" Tia let out a battle cry as she charged her right leg with her Ki energy and struck her wooden combat dummy with enhanced strength with her newly developed skill called the [Cheeta Strike]. The skill came from one of the scrolls that Ichigo had gathered through his time on his own journey and allowed Tia to read and learn from.
At first, she was given a prompt to absorb the skill as a skill book. But she didn't want to explain that magic destroyed the thing and simply said no before reading the book which disabled a game setting known as [Absorption Skill Learning.] which basically let her learn any skill from a skill book via a magical form of osmosis.
The technique wasn't about brute force despite how strong it was outright. The [Cheeta Strike] shrouded the users kick with Ki energy and sharpened it into a razor like kick that is meant to cut through an enemy's defense or armor.
She made a mental that this technique was rather dangerous, but she still wanted to master it which is why she was outside the dojo training. This time when she kicked the dummy, it had a large chunk of wood removed from it, which made Tia smile a bit while brushing her hair out of her face.
She took her hair out of its usual ponytail and let it down which showed that her hair had grown longer, and she didn't mind letting it down while she trained.
[The skill [Cheeta Strike] has leveled up! Level: 3-4!]
[The skill [Ki Manipulation] has leveled up! Level: 6-7!]
"Looks like your making progress." Dave complimented after he exited the dojo and walked up to Tia who had been training for a long time outside and dressed in her martial arts attire.
"The technique needs me to focus for it to work right. I feel like I'm trying to learn how to ride a bike all over again." Tia explained with a huff while Dave chuckled.
"Techniques like that require a lot of focus and concentration. Usually, you mainly see masters using similar techniques instead of simply enhancing their strikes." Dave replied before Tia looked at him.
"Wait. Don't you know techniques like this?"
"I know one or two skill-based techniques, but I mainly just enhance my strikes or my defense. Using techniques for specific actions takes concentration, focus and skill and in the heat of battle it's easier for me to simply strike hard with Ki enhanced muscles." Dave said with a causal shrug before Tia looked back at her training dummy while silently summoning the skill screen to look closely at her newly acquired technique.

"But this technique is simple and I'm barely out of energy."
"Yeah, but can you tell me the perfect time to strike with a technique like that in a fight?" Dave asked and for a moment, Tia was taken off-guard by his words.
"Well…If I have an opening I guess."
"Wrong. With a skill like that you'd need to create an opening to exploit and even then, your enemy could block it with their own skills. I admit this sounds lazy but, in a fight, I like to stick to simplistic strategies as well as conserve energy instead of using energy on attacks that aren't guaranteed to land." Dave said and Tia wanted to be upset but she could understand the logic and concern.
"Well, that just means I have more skills to master than you do." Tia said back with a smirk before playfully sticking her tongue out at him before she resumed her training by alternating between legs until she eventually broke the dummy in two with the [Cheeta Strike] technique.
She also made a mental note to try and develop her own techniques in the future but right now she was tired and sat down on the ground to meditate and restore some of her lost energy.

"Help! Someone, help!" A person screamed the minute Tia woke up and headed outside the dojo for some training before the other students would arrive for morning classes.
Tia looked towards the source of the noise and saw that several people were not only screaming and panicking but the local police force also seemed to be in a bit of a struggle as the village was being attacked by desert bandits.
"Take everything boys! We're partying tonight!" One of the bandits screamed through what sounded like a megaphone and appearing before Tia was a quest.
[Quest Alert!

Tia didn't even think twice before she hit the yes button and made a dash towards the nearest child that was being attacked while his mother was shielding him from the bandit that stood over them with a pistol cocked and ready.
"Mana Shield." Tia cast her spell and generated her magical forcefield around herself before she focused on using her Ki to enhance her legs and boost her speed which not only got the bandits attention but also left him wide open as she delivered a Gale Force Palm strike to the bandits stomach, knocking all the air out of his lungs and driving him onto his back in agony while Tia quickly grabbed the gun and threw it as far away as she could.
[You have created the skill-]
"Disable notifications." Tia quickly said before she helped the child and his mother up. "Get out of here while you can. The police headquarters is the safest place right now."
The mother and child didn't hesitate to run as Tia looked around and saw that the police did in fact need as much help as possible and as she cracked her knuckles, Tia couldn't help but feel a bit of excitement. She had plenty of Ki and Mana for her skills and she was going to use them.
Bandit Enforcer POV
The job was simple. Raid this village and burn it to the ground while taking all the good and women for the tribe. The police force was weak here and the only place truly off limits was Fry Pan Mountain. So, the bandit in charge of his few men couldn't help but be shocked and confused at the fact that his men were being pushed back by the police force with the help of an old martial artists, his teen student and a fucking teenage girl.
They started fighting back in separate areas which is why the scouts had a bit of trouble relaying the information to the attack commanders via the radios.
"Guns and men shouldn't be having a fucking problem with some old man and teenagers!" The bandit enforcer said in pure rage while stomping his feet while he stayed near the outskirts of the village.
His gun was at his hip, and he was ready to storm the place himself.
"That just means you suck." An annoying voice said from behind the corner and with a quick pull of his pistol, the bandit enforcer fired at the person who was protected by a literal shield surrounding her body.
Tia POV
"I get it now. You're like that fortune telling witch, Baba. You have magic bullshit. That's how you took down my men." The bandit enforcer said in anger while Tia drunk a sports drink to help quickly restore some Ki while looking a bit exhausted.
She didn't defeat every single bandit. But between her, the police force and some unexpected help from Ichigo and Dave. She defeated her fair share and was close to another level up.
"I don't know who that is, but I do have a magic shield. It stopped me from getting shot a dozen times by now and it's gotten strong enough to resist low caliber bullets without shattering. So, I'm going to ask you to leave and never come back. I made sure not to kill your men, but I can't promise not to hurt you." Tia said to the bandit who grit his teeth in anger.
"You honestly think some teenage girl is going to intimidate me." The bandit said before readying his pistol again before Tia sighed and with a hand she pointed over the bandit's shoulder with a smile.
The bandit thought that he was trying to use some mind trick or him or another magic trick, but sadly he couldn't have been more wrong. The moment he went to pull the trigger, he received a powerful chop to the back of his neck, causing him to get knocked out cold before he even hit the ground.
The blow came from none other than Ichigo himself who has some parts of his clothes torn but no other visible injuries apart from a few bruises. The man was surprised when he first saw Tia on the seen and ended up taking a few bullets to the chest but to her surprise, they simply crumbled against his body and hit the ground as if he was made of metal.
"I would say thank you for distracting him, but that would imply that I approved of the actions you took today." Ichigo said with a stern glare while Tia deactivated her shield.
"What do you mean? I didn't kill anyone, and I helped drive away the bad guys."
"That's true but you put yourself in danger. You're a teenager and you shouldn't be ready to throw your life away, and before you make any unfair claims. I gave these same words to Dave." Ichigo said and Tia looked away from him with her head down since he had the same scolding look her father has whenever she got in trouble when she was younger.
"People were screaming for help…I couldn't do nothing." Tia said back in a low voice while Ichigo sighed before walking up to her and placing a hand on her shoulder.
"I understand and while I wish you didn't enter danger so willingly. I can say that I am happy you weren't hurt. And thanks to you, a lot of people managed to get to safety and a lot of these bandits are going to get locked up." Ichigo explained as he eased up on his scolding.
"A lot of their weapons weren't high quality, but they had a lot of weapons. Hopefully, the bandits won't have any more." Tia said before she followed Ichigo back to the dojo where Tia was told to stay while Ichigo and Dave helped the police force restore some order to the village.
This wasn't a punishment, but Tia wasn't a member of the village so, Ichigo didn't want her to feel obligated to be involved or help any further after everything that just happened.
"Even after all this. He still thinks I'm a normal teenage girl who can't handle stress." Tia groaned before she saw a quest completed screen appear.
