Cardia was not sure what to expect as her Uncle guided her to the sofa in the office. She noted that the he looked worried about something. She sent a letter to him just a couple of days ago about her father still not responding to her letters. She hadn't received a response but seeing him and the Arura's here made her even more anxious then she was before. She saw that one of the Arura's seemed pissed and was eyeing her, he had a scar down the right side of his face and his eye was closed. His dirty blond hair a skew and he stood leaning against the bookcase arms crossed. The other looked older and had fine-lines across his face. He had gray at his temples and looked exasperated at the other arura's behavior.
"Miss Beckford would you like some tea?" The Headmaster asked with a smile.
"Yes Headmaster." She spoke softly
"Lolly!" The Headmaster called out.
While the Headmaster ordered tea to be brought to the office, Cardia felt her Uncle's arm wrap around her to comfort her.
"Cari dear, can you tell me if your father has reached out to you yet?" He asked concerned.
"No, I tried again to send a letter, but the owl and letter was returned to me." She spoke.
"I see, the last time he reached out to you?"
"It was to inform me that you will be taking over as my guardian." She explained her brow furrowed with worry.
This was unlike him, her Uncle knew that its been about a month and a half or so since she received the letter from her father, detailing that he couldn't continue to oppose Grindelwald. Especially when it came to her safety as the man threatened her that previous summer when he entered the house unannounced and unwelcomed.
"I see, have you seen the prophet yet today?" He asked.
"No, I haven't. I try not to pay attention to the prophet now as it is filled with stories of war and death." She explained looking at him.
"I doubt he would not reach out to the lass, she is hiding something." The younger Arura argued from his spot.
"Arura Moody, please, it is possible that Lord Beckford did not tell her anything or that she knows anything." Dumbledore spoke calming.
"Uncle Cels, what is going on? Why are the arura's here?" Cardia asked as dread filled the pit of her stomach.
"Miss. Beckford it has been reported that your father has disappeared. And the Arura department is trying to get to the bottom of it." Professor Dumbledore explained as he handed out the tea.
"I see, I know a man visited the manor unannounced and unwelcomed at the end of the summer." She spoke softly after taking a sip of tea.
"I see my dear, do you know who that was?" Dumbledore asked.
"It was the man that we see articles in the prophet, and the man responsible for the death of my mother sir." She looked up at the headmaster and felt as if her head would split in half.
She watched as memories of the summer flew past her mind. It showed her ease-dropping at the Malfoy manor and the confrontation with the man that night. She watched as she read all the letters imploring her to not worry about what happened and that he would not do as he was demanded. It was quick and the pain subsided as fast as it began.
"Arura's Demitri and Moody, it seems as Grindelwald is blackmailing Lord Beckford into complying with threats to endanger Miss Beckford here. She knows nothing but what the man asked her father and that he will have to comply with Grindelwald's demands now." Dumbledore explained.
"Headmaster Dumbledore, did you just use Legitimize on my niece without consent!" Cardia's Uncle exclaimed.
"I needed to know if she was hiding anything, as do the arura's." Dumbledore explained.
"Cardia would have told you, you know as well as I do that forced legitimize is harsh on the mind and you needed to ask."
Cardia held her head in pain as the adults spoke and discussed what is to happen. She knew that her Uncle was not happy that her Headmaster forced his way into her mind and pass the shields that she learned to put up from her father. As it was taught to all young pure-blood children from an early age. The arura's were happy with the little information and decided to monitor the incoming mail to Hogwarts to see if Lord Beckford would contact the girl. She found out that her father had transferred all guardianship and rights to her Uncle. It was almost like her father knew that he would never return to her and he set everything up. Her eyes felt wet and the pain and realization dawned on her.
