### **Chapter 34: A New Journey**
The morning sun streamed through the window of Naruto and Ino's shared apartment, casting long beams of light across the wooden floor. Despite the warmth of the new day, the atmosphere was heavy. Naruto sat at his desk, his posture rigid, his fingers interlaced tightly as his elbows rested on the edge. His azure eyes stared blankly ahead, lost in thought.
For days now, a storm had brewed in his mind—thoughts of betrayal, power, and the strange destiny tied to his bloodline. These feelings weren't new, but they had grown louder recently, pushing him further into himself.
He was quieter than usual, and even Ino—who had become the closest person to him—struggled to draw him out. Though she had always known Naruto to be somewhat reserved and contemplative, this recent detachment worried her.
### **A Troubled Mind**
Naruto's thoughts swirled back to the events that had plagued him. The fight against the three mighty enemies—**The Headless Knight**, **Suikar the Tyrant King of Stone**, and **Shiryo, the Queen of Fire**—had left him scarred, not physically but mentally. Each of these powerful beings had been sealed away ages ago, and yet, through his bloodline, he had inadvertently unleashed them into the world.
Each foe had tested him in ways he had never anticipated, and though he had defeated them, the danger lingered. Shiryo, in particular, was still out there, scheming and waiting for the right moment to strike again.
Naruto clenched his fists, the anger bubbling up inside him. The people of the village viewed him as a savior, yes, but also as a threat. He had overheard their whispers, felt their wary gazes. They feared him as much as they relied on him. And the conversation he had accidentally eavesdropped on days ago in the Hokage's office only confirmed his worst fears.
### **Flashback: Shadows of Doubt**
Naruto's feet had carried him aimlessly through the streets of Konoha, his mind still reeling from an argument between Ino and Sakura that he had no patience for. The tension between the two women had been suffocating, and he had left them to sort it out on their own.
The cool evening air did little to calm his nerves as he wandered toward the Hokage's office, seeking distraction in work. But as he approached the building, he felt a heaviness in the air—a sense of unease that made him pause.
The door to the Hokage's office was ajar, and voices carried through the narrow opening. He recognized them immediately: Kakashi's calm, measured tone, and Tsunade's authoritative voice tinged with worry.
Naruto hesitated, his curiosity getting the better of him as he stood outside the door.
"This situation is dangerous," Kakashi said, his voice low but firm. "Naruto's blood… it's too unpredictable. It opened the gates that released the Headless Knight, Suikar the Tyrant, and even Shiryo. We've managed to contain two of them, but Shiryo is still out there. What happens if another gate opens?"
Tsunade sighed deeply, her frustration evident. "I know, Kakashi. But what do you expect us to do? Sit around and wait for disaster? Naruto's bloodline is tied to forces we don't fully understand. He's powerful—maybe the most powerful shinobi we've ever seen—but that power is a double-edged sword. It could destroy us all if it isn't controlled."
"He wouldn't betray us," Kakashi said firmly. "I've known him his entire life. He's saved this village more times than anyone can count."
Tsunade's silence was deafening, and when she finally spoke, her voice was grave. "Trust alone isn't enough, Kakashi. We need to take precautions. If Naruto's power falls into the wrong hands—or if he loses control—we won't stand a chance. We might need to… take measures to ensure his loyalty."
Naruto's heart clenched painfully at her words. **Ensure his loyalty?** Did they truly think he would turn against them?
"What measures are you suggesting?" Kakashi asked cautiously.
Tsunade hesitated before replying, her voice barely above a whisper. "We could use Ibiki's abilities to… examine his mind. Make sure he's still on our side."
Naruto didn't hear anything after that. His blood roared in his ears as he turned and walked away, his fists clenched so tightly that
his nails dug into his palms.
### **Present Day**
Naruto exhaled sharply, his hands gripping the edges of the desk. "So that's how they see me," he muttered bitterly. A threat. A weapon. Never a person.
The sound of light footsteps behind him broke his reverie, and a pair of soft hands covered his eyes.
"Guess who?" Ino's playful voice rang out.
Naruto sighed, not in the mood for games. "Ino…"
Ino frowned, letting her hands drop to his shoulders. "You're no fun, Naruto-kun," she said, circling around to face him. Her blue eyes scanned his face, noting the tension in his jaw and the faraway look in his eyes.
"Are you okay?" she asked softly, crouching down so she was eye-level with him.
"I'm fine," Naruto replied curtly, though his tone made it clear he wasn't.
Ino pursed her lips, crossing her arms. "You're a terrible liar, you know that?"
Naruto didn't respond, and the silence stretched between them. Ino straightened, a determined glint in her eye.
"That's it," she declared. "We're going on a trip."
Naruto blinked, her sudden announcement catching him off guard. "A trip?"
"Yes, a trip," Ino said, her tone leaving no room for argument. "You've been brooding for days, and it's driving me crazy. So, we're going somewhere far away to clear our heads."
Naruto stared at her for a moment before sighing. "Where exactly are you planning to go?"
Ino's face lit up with excitement. "To **Mount Kazenami**! It's famous for its rare flowers, like the **Moonlit Blossoms** that only bloom once every few years. I've always wanted to see them, and I think it'll be good for both of us."
Naruto leaned back in his chair, considering her proposal. He didn't particularly care about flowers, but a change of scenery might help him make sense of his tangled thoughts. And perhaps, amidst the tranquility of the mountains, he could find answers to the questions that plagued him.
"Fine," he said at last.
Ino's eyes widened in surprise before a bright smile spread across her face. "Really? You mean it?"
Naruto nodded. "Yeah. Maybe it'll help."
Ino clapped her hands together, practically bouncing with excitement. "Yes! This is going to be amazing! Just you wait, Naruto-kun—we're going to have the best time ever!"
Naruto couldn't help but smile faintly at her enthusiasm, though a part of him wondered if this trip would bring him the peace he so desperately sought—or lead him closer to the storm.
The morning was a whirlwind of activity in Naruto and Ino's apartment. Ino's energy was infectious as she darted around the room, gathering her things for their trip. She hummed to herself, clearly in high spirits, while Naruto remained seated at the edge of the bed, watching her with mild curiosity.
Ino threw a few more items into her open suitcase before turning to Naruto with a mischievous glint in her eye. "Naruto-kun, look at this!"
Naruto glanced up, only for his face to flush an immediate, bright red. Ino was holding up an assortment of lingerie—delicate bras and matching panties in a range of colors and designs, from soft pastels to bold reds and blacks. The sheer fabrics and intricate lace details left little to the imagination, and Naruto quickly looked away, rubbing the back of his neck.
"Ino!" he stammered, avoiding her gaze. "What are you doing? Put those away!"
Ino laughed, clearly enjoying his reaction. "What? Don't tell me you're embarrassed! I bought these yesterday with your money, by the way," she teased, wagging a finger at him. "You should at least appreciate how they look. Besides, this one—" she gestured to the bra she was wearing beneath her loose top, pulling it aside just enough to reveal a glimpse of lace—"is brand new. Do you like it?"
Naruto's face turned an even deeper shade of crimson. He stood up abruptly, turning his back to her. "Stop messing around, Ino. We're supposed to be getting ready for the trip, not—uh—whatever this is."
Ino giggled and crossed her arms, leaning against the wall as she watched him fumble with his words. "You're so cute when you're flustered, Naruto-kun. Fine, fine. I'll stop teasing you... for now."
She returned to packing, sneaking glances at Naruto every now and then. His embarrassment only made her more amused, but she knew better than to push him too far. This trip was important to him, even if he hadn't said it outright.
### **Elsewhere in Konoha**
At the Hokage's office, Kakashi leaned back in his chair, skimming through a few mission reports when Shikamaru walked in. The young strategist yawned, scratching the back of his head as he approached the desk.
"So, Naruto and Ino are heading off on a trip today," Shikamaru said casually.
Kakashi glanced up from his papers. "Yes. Ino requested permission yesterday. Something about collecting rare flowers in Mount Kazenami, near the Village of Spring Vale. I thought it might be good for Naruto to get away for a bit. He's been... distant lately."
Shikamaru nodded thoughtfully. "Makes sense. He's been carrying a lot on his shoulders. Maybe this'll help him unwind. And knowing Ino, she probably planned this whole thing to cheer him up."
Kakashi smirked behind his mask. "Let's hope it works. He could use the break. And maybe it'll keep him from brooding for a while."
Before Shikamaru could reply, the office door burst open with a loud bang. Sakura stood in the doorway, panting heavily, her face flushed from running.
Kakashi raised an eyebrow. "Sakura? What's the matter?"
"Is it true?" she demanded, her voice sharp and urgent.
Kakashi tilted his head. "What's true?"
"That Naruto is going on a trip with Ino!" she exclaimed, her tone rising with frustration.
Shikamaru raised an eyebrow. "How did you find out?"
"That doesn't matter!" Sakura snapped. "I know, okay? Now tell me—are they really going?"
Kakashi sighed, leaning back in his chair. "Yes, they are. Ino got the necessary permissions yesterday. They're heading to Mount Kazenami. Why do you care so much?"
Sakura's fists clenched at her sides, her green eyes blazing with anger. "Why do I care? Because that... that pig is trying to steal him away! I can't let her do this!"
Kakashi couldn't help but chuckle at her outburst. "Sakura, Naruto has been avoiding you—and everyone else—for three years. You've had plenty of time to talk to him, and you didn't. Why does this trip suddenly matter so much to you?"
"It just does!" Sakura shouted, her voice shaking with emotion. "I won't let her take him away from me!"
Shikamaru sighed, rubbing his temples. "This is such a drag. Sakura, why don't you just let them go? It's not like Naruto's being forced into anything. He agreed to go."
"That's not the point!" Sakura yelled. "I want to go with them!"
Kakashi raised a hand to stop her. "Sakura, calm down. You can't just invite yourself along. This trip was Ino's idea, and she planned it specifically for her and Naruto."
"I don't care!" Sakura shouted. "I'm going, whether you like it or not!"
Kakashi groaned, pinching the bridge of his nose. "You're being unreasonable, Sakura."
But Sakura was relentless. She argued, pleaded, and even threatened to follow them without permission. Her persistence was exhausting, and after what felt like hours of back-and-forth, Kakashi finally threw up his hands in defeat.
"Fine!" he snapped, his patience worn thin. "If it'll get you to stop yelling, you can go. But if this causes any trouble, don't come crying to me."
Shikamaru sighed heavily, muttering under his breath, "This is going to be such a pain. Things are definitely going to get more complicated now."
Kakashi leaned back in his chair, a hint of amusement returning to his expression. "Complicated, yes. But also entertaining."
### **Elsewhere: Malrick's Perspective**
Far away, in a dimly lit chamber, a figure lounged on a throne made of jagged stone. Malrick, one of Shiryo's loyal followers, smirked as he watched a glowing orb that displayed an image of Naruto preparing for his journey.
"So, the boy's going on a little trip," Malrick mused, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "How quaint. As if a vacation could solve his problems."
He chuckled darkly, leaning forward. "This is just the beginning. Let him think he's finding answers. It'll only make his eventual downfall all the more satisfying."
Malrick's laughter echoed through the chamber as the image in the orb faded.
### **Back at the Apartment**
Naruto sat silently, his thoughts heavy as he gazed out the window. Despite Ino's cheerful energy, he couldn't shake the feeling that this trip was more than just a distraction. Deep down, he hoped it would lead him to some kind of clarity, an answer to the questions that had haunted him for so long.
Ino appeared beside him, her suitcase packed and ready. She smiled brightly, placing a hand on his shoulder. "Alright, Naruto-kun. Everything's set. Let's go!"
Naruto stood, giving her a small nod. "Yeah. Let's do this."
As they stepped out of the apartment, the weight of the journey ahead hung over them. For Naruto, it was a chance to find himself. For Ino, it was an opportunity to bring him back to life. And for Sakura—who was now determined to join them—it was a battle she wasn't ready to lose.
The tension in the Hokage's office was palpable as Ino Yamanaka's voice echoed through the room.
"**WHAAAAAAAAAT?!**" she screamed, her hands clenched into fists at her sides.
Naruto winced, covering his ears in a futile attempt to block out her voice. "Ino, calm down!" he pleaded.
Kakashi, leaning back in his chair, let out a strained laugh, clearly regretting his decision to allow Sakura to join their trip. "Well," he muttered under his breath, "this is going as expected."
Shikamaru stood by the window, his arms crossed as he observed the commotion with his usual nonchalance. "Troublesome," he muttered, rubbing his temples. "This is going to be a nightmare."
Ino whirled on Kakashi, her blue eyes blazing with fury. "Kakashi-sensei, are you out of your mind?! I planned this trip for me and Naruto! Alone! Just the two of us! And now you're letting your precious little student tag along?!"
Kakashi raised a hand in an attempt to placate her. "Ino, I didn't exactly 'let' her come. Sakura insisted—"
"**Insisted?!**" Ino interrupted, her voice rising another octave. "You're supposed to be the Hokage! Can't you just say no?! What kind of man are you?!"
Naruto glanced nervously between the two, silently hoping this argument wouldn't escalate any further. He already felt like a child caught between two feuding parents.
Meanwhile, at the village gate, Sakura Haruno stood with her arms crossed, a smug smile plastered across her face. She stuck out her tongue playfully in the direction of the Hokage's tower, imagining Ino's inevitable meltdown.
Inside Naruto's subconscious, Kurama's deep voice rumbled with amusement. "This is entertaining. I should've brought popcorn for this show."
### **The Argument Heats Up**
Back in the office, Ino was still fuming. "Listen here, Kakashi. I've been planning this trip for weeks. Weeks! And now, thanks to your inability to stand your ground, you're ruining everything!"
"Ino," Kakashi said with a sigh, "I thought you wanted Naruto to relax. How exactly is all this yelling supposed to help him?"
Ino ignored his question entirely, jabbing a finger at him. "You fix this. Now."
Kakashi raised an eyebrow, clearly unimpressed by her tone. "I already told you—"
"NO!" Ino cut him off. "You're the Hokage! You can undo this. Tell Sakura she's not allowed to come. Tell her she has a mission, or she's banned from leaving the village, or—"
"I'm not going to do that, Ino," Kakashi interrupted calmly.
"Then you're not a real man!" Ino snapped, crossing her arms.
Naruto, desperate to defuse the situation, raised his hands. "Guys, seriously, it's not a big deal—"
"It is a big deal!" Ino shouted, whirling around to face him. "Naruto-kun, this was supposed to be our trip. Just you and me. Alone. Romantic. And now your ex-crush is tagging along, ruining everything!"
Sakura's timing couldn't have been more perfect—or more disastrous. She arrived at the Hokage's office just in time to hear Ino's rant. Leaning against the doorframe with a satisfied grin, Sakura chuckled.
"Aw, poor little Ino-pig," she taunted. "Afraid I'll steal Naruto away from you?"
Ino's glare could've melted steel. "Don't you dare look at what's mine, billboard-brow!"
Sakura's grin widened. "Oh, I wasn't planning on just looking."
The tension in the room skyrocketed as Sakura's words sank in. She turned her gaze to Naruto, who was visibly sweating under the combined weight of their stares.
### **Sakura's Thoughts**
*This is my chance,* Sakura thought, her heart racing as she imagined the possibilities. Naruto had grown so much over the years, both physically and emotionally. She couldn't deny the attraction she felt now, especially after seeing how strong and confident he had become.
Her mind wandered, conjuring up vivid images of what could happen during the trip. *Maybe... just maybe... I can finally get closer to him.*
Her cheeks flushed as her imagination took a more intimate turn. She pictured herself seducing him, their bodies entwined, his warmth filling her—
Sakura's nose began to bleed, snapping her out of her daydream. She quickly wiped it away, hoping no one noticed.
### **The Clash**
Ino's voice cut through Sakura's thoughts like a blade. "Stop staring at him, billboard-brow! He's mine!"
Naruto groaned, running a hand through his hair. "I'm not anyone's, okay? Stop fighting over me!"
Ino ignored him, stepping closer to Sakura. "Naruto is my future husband. So back off!"
Sakura crossed her arms. "Husband? Since when? You're delusional, Ino-pig."
Ino smirked, grabbing Naruto by the collar and pulling him into a kiss. It was bold, passionate, and designed to make one thing clear—Naruto was hers.
When she pulled away, Naruto's face was a mix of shock and embarrassment, while Sakura's was flushed with rage.
"You... you...!" Sakura stammered, her fists clenched at her sides.
"What's wrong, Sakura?" Ino taunted, a smug smile on her face. "Jealous?"
"Don't do that in front of me, you pig!" Sakura shouted.
"What did you just call me?!" Ino yelled back, stepping closer.
Before things could escalate further, Kakashi stepped between them, his voice firm. "Enough. Both of you. This trip hasn't even started, and I'm already regretting letting it happen."
Ino and Sakura glared at each other but said nothing.
### **The Departure**
At the village gate, Kakashi and Shikamaru stood watching as Naruto, Ino, and Sakura prepared to leave.
"Alright," Kakashi said, pushing the three of them forward. "Out you go. Have fun. And please, for the love of all things holy, don't come back until you've resolved whatever this is."
He shut the gate firmly behind them, letting out a sigh of relief.
Shikamaru shook his head. "This is going to be a disaster."
Kakashi chuckled. "Maybe. But it'll also be entertaining."
Shikamaru glanced at him. "You really think Naruto's lucky, huh?"
Kakashi smirked. "Of course. Any man would kill to have two beautiful women fighting over him."
Shikamaru sighed. "Troublesome. I just hope they don't kill each other—or him."
The two men turned and walked away, leaving Naruto and his chaotic companions to begin their journey.
###
The sun hung lazily in the sky as Naruto, Ino, and Sakura trudged down the dirt path leading toward **Mount Kazenami**. Despite the picturesque scenery, the atmosphere was anything but peaceful.
Ino Yamanaka walked confidently, her hand firmly latched onto Naruto's. She held her chin high, throwing smug glances over her shoulder at Sakura, who followed just a step behind.
Sakura, seething with irritation, finally broke the silence. "Ino, you don't have to act like you're glued to his hand. You look like a lovesick puppy."
"Puppy?" Ino scoffed, tightening her grip on Naruto. "Oh please, billboard-brow. This is what it looks like when a woman is in love and confident in her relationship. You wouldn't know anything about that."
Sakura's brow twitched dangerously. "Confident? The only thing you're confident about is running your big mouth."
Naruto sighed heavily, his free hand covering his face. "Can you two *not* do this?"
Ignoring him, Ino smirked triumphantly at Sakura. "Jealous much? Can't stand to see me holding Naruto-kun's hand?"
"Jealous?" Sakura snapped, stepping closer. "Why would I be jealous of a desperate pig throwing herself at someone who clearly doesn't even care?"
Ino gasped dramatically, pausing in her steps. "Excuse me?! Are you blind, Sakura? Look at us! We're practically married already!" She turned to Naruto with a dazzling smile. "Right, Naruto-kun?"
Naruto glanced at her, his expression blank. "Uh…"
"See?!" Ino declared, spinning back to Sakura. "That was a 'yes' if I ever heard one."
Sakura rolled her eyes, storming forward until she was on Naruto's other side. Without hesitation, she grabbed his free hand. "If you can hold his hand, then so can I. After all, Naruto and I have been teammates for years. I have more history with him than you ever will."
Ino's eyes widened in outrage. "Let go of his hand, forehead-girl!"
"Make me, Ino-pig!" Sakura shot back, sticking out her tongue.
Naruto, sandwiched between the two bickering women, let out a long groan. "Can someone remind me why I agreed to this?"
### **Round Two: Escalation**
The argument escalated quickly.
Ino, sensing Sakura's smugness, released Naruto's hand only to grab onto his arm possessively. "Naruto-kun doesn't need some teammate claiming rights on him. He needs a strong, devoted woman. Like me!"
Sakura narrowed her eyes and retaliated, yanking Naruto's other arm toward her. "Oh, please. You're all talk, Ino. Naruto needs someone who understands him. And that's me!"
The tug-of-war began, with Naruto caught helplessly in the middle. "Ow, ow, OW! My arms don't stretch that far!"
Ino ignored his complaints, glaring daggers at Sakura. "He's mine, Sakura. Admit it—you're just mad that I always win!"
Sakura grinned devilishly. "Win? You're not even ready to give him your virginity. That's a win?"
Ino froze, her face turning red. "W-WHAT?! I'll have you know I'm more than ready, you giant forehead!"
"Oh really?" Sakura said smugly. Without warning, she grabbed Naruto's hand and pressed it against her chest.
Naruto's face instantly turned beet red as his fingers brushed against Sakura's soft curves. "S-Sakura?!"
Sakura smiled sweetly. "See, Naruto? I'm ready for you. Whenever you want."
Naruto stammered incoherently, trying to pull his hand back, but Sakura wouldn't let go. His heart raced, and his mind screamed: *What the hell is happening?!*
Ino, meanwhile, was on fire—her face redder than ever as she clenched her fists. "Oh, you think you're so clever, don't you, billboard-brow?"
Sakura smirked, still holding Naruto's hand against her. "You're just mad because I'm not afraid to make a move."
"That's it!" Ino snapped. She stormed over, grabbing Naruto's other hand and pulling it straight toward her chest. Her ample curves pressed against his palm as she smiled smugly at Sakura. "There. How do you like that?!"
Naruto's brain officially short-circuited. "W-Why is this happening to me?"
Ino leaned in closer, her voice soft and teasing. "See, Naruto-kun? I'm just as ready as anyone else. Maybe more."
Sakura growled, stepping forward until her face was inches from Naruto's. "You're lying, Ino. Naruto wouldn't pick you over me. We've had a bond since we were kids!"
Ino leaned in on the other side, her face dangerously close to Naruto's. "Oh, please. Naruto was *born* to be mine. Admit it, Sakura. You've lost."
The two girls were now so close that Naruto could feel their breaths on his cheeks. His face was so red he could've melted into the ground.
*I'm going to die,* he thought miserably.
Sakura and Ino glared at each other over his shoulders, neither willing to back down.
"He belongs to me," Sakura declared.
"He's mine," Ino shot back.
Naruto groaned. "Can you both let go of me?!"
"NO!" they shouted in unison.
### **Kurama's Commentary**
Inside Naruto's subconscious, Kurama couldn't stop laughing. The giant fox was practically rolling around in his cage, tears streaming down his face.
"**This is priceless!**" he howled. "Naruto, you've somehow managed to turn a simple trip into a full-on romantic comedy! I couldn't make this up if I tried!"
"Shut up, Kurama," Naruto muttered internally.
### **The Standoff Continues**
Back on the trail, Sakura and Ino refused to let go of Naruto, each claiming their dominance. The road to Mount Kazenami had never felt so long—or so chaotic.
"You're just jealous because I look better with him," Ino taunted.
"You look like a desperate pig," Sakura retorted, grinning.
Naruto, still red-faced and disoriented, finally shouted, "WILL YOU TWO JUST STOP ALREADY?!"
The girls paused, blinking at him.
"You're both acting insane!" he continued, pulling his hands free. "I'm not a prize to be fought over, okay?!"
Sakura and Ino exchanged a look before turning back to Naruto, speaking in unison. "But you're *our* Naruto."
Naruto froze, completely at a loss for words as the two girls closed in on him again, each determined to win.
*I should've stayed home,* he thought bitterly.
The air around *Kazunami Mountain* was crisp, cool, and invigorating—a refreshing change from the arduous journey that had led the trio here. Towering above them, its jagged cliffs and lush greenery painted a breathtaking image against the horizon. The golden glow of the setting sun kissed its peak, creating a majestic display of nature's untouched beauty.
Naruto let out a long, satisfied sigh, planting his hands on his hips as he admired the scenery. *"Finally…"* he muttered to himself. The trek had been long, the company exhausting at times, but seeing this view made it all worth it.
From beside him, Ino exhaled loudly in dramatic relief. "We did it! Naruto, we're finally here!" Her lips curled into a playful grin, and she nudged his shoulder. "Just the two of us, huh? Isn't that romantic?"
Naruto blinked, startled by her comment, before he could even formulate a response.
"Oi, oi! Don't forget about me!" Sakura called out from a few steps behind, rolling her eyes. Her sharp voice shattered whatever illusion Ino was trying to create. "This isn't a couples' getaway, you two. We're a team, remember?"
Ino shot her a glare, folding her arms across her chest. "What did you just say, forehead? Did you *want* to be forgotten? Because you're doing a great job of being annoying!"
Sakura smirked back, unfazed. "Oh, I'd rather be annoying than delusional. Keep dreaming, Ino-pig."
The two girls fell into their usual bickering, their voices echoing through the quiet mountainside. Naruto groaned, running a hand through his blond hair in exasperation. "Here we go again…" he muttered under his breath. It was like they couldn't *not* fight.
With a weary shrug, Naruto wandered away from the squabble. The tension between Ino and Sakura wasn't anything new, but for now, he wanted a break. He spotted a peaceful little ledge with a stunning view of the valley below and made his way over, plopping down onto the ground. The wind was calm here, and it whistled softly in his ears as he leaned back, closing his eyes.
It was then, in this rare moment of stillness, that it happened.
#### **The Dream**
Naruto felt himself drifting. The cool mountain air turned heavy and dense, surrounding him like a mist. Suddenly, he was no longer sitting on the ledge. Instead, he was standing in a dark, secret place—shrouded in shadows and mystery.
Before him lay an ancient stone altar. A single object sat atop it: a weathered scroll, glowing faintly as though calling out to him. *This scroll…* Naruto took a hesitant step forward, his heartbeat quickening. He could sense it—a deep, almost otherworldly energy emanating from the object. It pulsed through the air like a heartbeat, beckoning him.
*"What… is this place?"* he whispered to himself. His voice echoed eerily.
As Naruto reached out for the scroll, the shadows seemed to shift, swirling around him. Just as his fingers grazed its rough surface—
Naruto gasped awake, bolting upright with a start. Sweat beaded on his forehead despite the cool mountain air. He clutched his chest, his heart still racing.
*"What was that…?"* he muttered, breathing heavily. It felt too real to be just a dream. He clenched his fists, narrowing his eyes thoughtfully. "A scroll… maybe that's the first clue. Could it lead me to the sword?" He glanced toward the mountain's peak. *"It has to be here… somewhere."*
"Naruto-kuuuuun!" A shrill voice pierced through the calm, pulling him out of his thoughts. He winced.
"Ugh, what now…?" Naruto turned to see Ino waving at him from a small clearing where she and Sakura were setting up camp.
"Where did you run off to?" Ino huffed, planting her hands on her hips as he approached. "I need you to help me set up our tent. It's not going to pitch itself, you know."
Naruto scratched the back of his head sheepishly. "Actually, I brought a tent already, so we're good."
Ino paused, blinking at him before breaking into a laugh—a loud, teasing laugh that grated on Naruto's nerves. "Naruto-kun… *you* brought a tent?" She wiped tears of laughter from her eyes. "That's so cute! Too bad…"
Naruto frowned, confused. "Huh? What's that supposed to mean?"
"That means," Ino said, holding up a pair of scissors and grinning mischievously, "I took care of your *useless* tent earlier. It was in the way."
"…You *what*?!" Naruto's jaw dropped. He stared at her, dumbfounded. "You *cut up my tent*?!"
Ino shrugged unapologetically. "Well, it's not like we need it. We'll just use *my* tent. A little teamwork, Naruto-kun!"
Sakura's laughter rang out behind them. "Wow, Ino. You're really something else."
"Shut up, forehead!" Ino snapped, though her smile lingered.
#### **Nightfall**
As the sun dipped below the horizon, darkness blanketed Kazunami Mountain. The trio had managed to set up camp—mostly thanks to Naruto's reluctant cooperation. Now, however, Naruto found himself in a situation far more dangerous than any mission.
Inside the tent, the space was *cramped*. And to make matters worse, Ino and Sakura—both in light sleeping clothes—were fast asleep… on either side of him.
Naruto sat stiffly, his face beet red as he stared at the tent's ceiling. *This is so awkward…* he thought frantically. He couldn't move an inch without accidentally brushing against them.
Sakura, sleeping to his left, had settled against his shoulder, her soft breathing steady and calm. Naruto tried his best not to think about how her oversized shirt dipped just enough to reveal… well, more than he was comfortable seeing.
On his right, Ino was curled up like a cat, one arm draped casually over his chest. Her tank top and shorts left very little to the imagination, and Naruto swallowed hard. *Why me?!*
*"You've got some luck, kid!"* Kurama's voice rumbled in his mind, followed by roaring laughter. *"Any guy would kill to be in your position right now!"*
"Shut up, Kurama!" Naruto hissed internally, his face burning hotter.
It didn't help that Sakura shifted in her sleep, pressing closer. Naruto froze as her chest—unmistakably soft—rested against his side. At the same time, Ino mumbled something unintelligible, her grip tightening around him as if he were a pillow.
Naruto's brain short-circuited. He couldn't decide which was worse: the sheer embarrassment or the fact that Kurama wouldn't stop laughing.
*"This… this is torture…"* Naruto groaned silently.
### **In the dimly lit cavern hidden deep within the bowels of Kazunami Mountain, the air was thick with the smell of damp earth and the faint, acrid tang of ancient magic. Torches lined the stone walls, their flickering flames casting dancing shadows over the jagged surfaces. At the center of the cavern stood a grand table carved from obsidian, its surface etched with strange, glowing runes.
In the dimly lit cavern hidden deep within the bowels of Kazunami Mountain, the air was thick with the smell of damp earth and the faint, acrid tang of ancient magic. Torches lined the stone walls, their flickering flames casting dancing shadows over the jagged surfaces. At the center of the cavern stood a grand table carved from obsidian, its surface etched with strange, glowing runes.
Malrick, the enigmatic figure cloaked in dark robes, leaned against the table with an air of casual authority. His long fingers traced the runes absentmindedly, a smirk playing on his lips. His silver eyes gleamed with a cold, calculated intelligence. Opposite him, Shiryū, his fiery and defiant subordinate, paced the cavern floor. Her crimson hair caught the firelight, and her piercing eyes burned with barely restrained fury.
"I want to destroy him," Shiryū hissed, her voice sharp and venomous. She slammed her hand down on the obsidian table, causing the runes to pulse faintly. "Naruto Uzumaki… He doesn't deserve to walk away unscathed! He humiliated me, Malrick! I will have my revenge!"
Malrick raised a hand lazily, as if swatting away her anger. "Not now, Shiryū." His voice was calm, but it carried an undeniable weight of authority.
"Why not?" Shiryū snapped, her fiery temper flaring further. "He's here, in Kazunami Mountain! And not on some mission—he's here for a *vacation*! A vacation, Malrick! This is the perfect chance to eliminate him without interference. We can end this!"
But Malrick chuckled softly, the sound low and full of confidence. "Shiryū, Shiryū… Your passion, while admirable, blinds you. Naruto is not just some random obstacle to be removed. He's…" Malrick's smirk widened. "…the key to everything."
Shiryū froze, her eyes narrowing. "The *key*? What do you mean? What are you planning?"
Malrick straightened, stepping away from the table. His shadow stretched unnaturally across the cavern, almost as if it were alive. "Naruto Uzumaki isn't just an enemy, Shiryū. He's far more valuable than you realize. Killing him now would be… wasteful. No, I have much bigger plans for him."
"You always have your plans, Malrick," Shiryū spat. "But you don't understand the risk. If he gets his hands on the sword—if the Sword of Eryndor falls into his grasp—it'll be over. He'll be unstoppable. No one will be able to defeat him!"
Malrick let out a dark, amused laugh. "Is that what you think?" He turned to face her fully, his silver eyes glinting like twin moons. "You really believe that the sword would make him invincible? That no one could stop him?"
Shiryū's jaw tightened. "You underestimate him. He defeated the Headless Knight, banished Suikar the Tyrant to the Abyss, and even…" Her voice wavered slightly. "…even defeated me."
Malrick's smile didn't falter. "Ah, yes. Let's not forget, Shiryū, how you almost perished during your little encounter with him. You were fortunate I arrived in time to save you."
Her fists clenched. "I don't need you to remind me."
"But I *will* remind you," Malrick said, his tone taking on a sharp edge. He began to pace slowly around the cavern, his voice growing louder. "Naruto Uzumaki is dangerous, yes. But he's also predictable. His strength lies in his conviction—his love for his friends, his village, his so-called *Will of Fire*. And that, Shiryū, is precisely where his weakness lies."
Shiryū frowned, still unconvinced. "You're gambling with something far greater than you realize. If he obtains the sword—"
Malrick raised a hand, silencing her. "And if he does, I have contingencies. Every step of this plan has been calculated to perfection. You worry too much."
"Calculated?" Shiryū scoffed. "The others are beginning to question you, Malrick. Your obsession with Naruto is causing them to doubt your leadership. Even now, whispers are spreading—about the power in your blood, about the risks you're willing to take. Do you think they trust you?"
Malrick's smirk widened into a grin, one that didn't reach his eyes. "Trust, my dear Shiryū, is irrelevant. Fear is far more effective. And they fear me because they know what I'm capable of."
He stepped closer to her, his voice dropping to a dangerous whisper. "It was *my* blood that opened the Gate of the Headless Knight. *My* power that unleashed Suikar the Tyrant. And let's not forget, Shiryū…" He leaned in, his grin twisting into something cruel. "You… the so-called *Queen of Flames*… were defeated by him as well."
Shiryū's fiery eyes burned with rage, but she held her tongue.
"Yet," Malrick continued, his tone softening into something almost mocking, "he did not destroy you completely. I saved you. I ensured your survival, even in your moment of failure."
Her lips tightened into a thin line. "Do you enjoy rubbing salt in my wounds, Malrick?"
"I'm merely stating the facts," he replied, his expression unreadable. "Naruto Uzumaki defeated us all—yet here we are, still standing. The Headless Knight, Suikar, you… all of you fell, and yet I brought order back to chaos. Why? Because I see the bigger picture. I see what needs to be done."
"And what *is* that, exactly?" Shiryū demanded. "What's your grand plan?"
Malrick's eyes gleamed with a dangerous light. "It's simple," he said. "Naruto Uzumaki will break. And when he does, the world will bow to us."
Shiryū stared at him, her disbelief evident. "You truly think you can manipulate him that easily? He's stronger than you give him credit for, Malrick. His bonds, his loyalty to his friends… That's what makes him so dangerous. If we push him too far—"
"*Exactly*," Malrick interrupted, his voice rising with triumph. "His bonds are his strength, yes. But they're also his chains. If we sever them, one by one, he'll have nothing left. He'll become a shadow of himself, and then… then he'll be ours to control."
Shiryū shook her head, still unconvinced. "You're playing with fire."
"And fire, my dear Shiryū, is something you should understand better than anyone," Malrick said with a chuckle.
He turned away from her, gazing into the distance as though he could see the future unfolding before him. "For now, let him enjoy his little adventure here in Kazunami Mountain. Soon enough, the game will change. And when it does…" His grin returned, sharp and full of malice. "…no one will be able to stop us."
Shiryū's unease lingered, but she said nothing more.
Malrick's laughter echoed through the cavern, a dark promise of the chaos yet to come.
