When Brooke wakes up the next morning, she is wrapped in a soft warmth. Lucas is still holding her firmly against him and she has the impression of finally being in her place. Raising her head slightly, she sees that the man of her life is also awake and that he is looking at her tenderly. She gives him a big smile, while he presses her a little closer to him. Unfortunately, a noise coming from one of the rooms interrupts them as Lucas is about to take Brooke's lips. They separate with regret so as not to risk being surprised by one of their friends. Rightly so, Nathan joins them in the living room just a few seconds later.
NATHAN : Hey, you two! Did you sleep well?
LUCAS : Not too much, no. Did you know that your sister snores like a truck? It's really horrible, you know?
Grabbing a pillow, Brooke immediately throws it at Lucas' head while laughing.
BROOKE : That's not true! I don't snore!
LUCAS : Yes, you do! And I never want to sleep with you again!
BROOKE : That's good, because I never want to sleep with you again either!
Seeing their good mood, Nathan immediately looks at them suspiciously.
NATHAN : I find you very happy this morning! Are you sure the night was that bad?
Brooke jumps up to plant a loud kiss on Nathan's cheek.
BROOKE : This night was perfectly horrible, big brother!
She then heads towards the bathroom, under the puzzled gaze of her brother.
A few minutes later, Brooke hears a small knock at the door as she is about to shower. Knowing very well who is there, she smiles and goes to open it to Lucas, who sneaks into the room. He locks the door behind him, before approaching her like a predator.
LUCAS : Perfectly horrible, huh?
Brooke doesn't have time to say a word, that Lucas lifts her by the buttocks and places her on the cold surface of the sink. Installed between her thighs, he then takes her mouth urgently while Brooke puts her arms around his neck. Lucas' hands slowly go up Brooke's legs, then go under her towel to grab her buttocks. Brooke can't help but moan when he presses his erect member against her intimacy. Unfortunately, not having enough time, Lucas reluctantly lets go of Brooke's mouth to whisper in her ear.
LUCAS : The others are getting up. I'll have to go.
BROOKE : I know. But it's only postponed, anyway.
Looking up, Lucas looks at her with emotion.
LUCAS : Yes, my pretty. When we get home, I'll finally make love to you.
At the height of happiness, Lucas takes Brooke's lips one last time lovingly, before discreetly leaving.
A little later, the whole group is all sitting outside for breakfast. Lucas and Brooke try to act like nothing is happening while they chat with the others. At least, until Rachel pushes Lucas to the limit, in front of everyone's stunned eyes.
NATHAN : How about we go for a hike this afternoon?
QUINN : Yeah, why not? It could be fun.
HALEY : Yeah. Plus, it's nice out, so we might as well make the most of it.
BROOKE : It reminds me of when we used to go into the woods with Grandpa. He always taught us lots of things.
LUCAS : I especially remember that you would jump at the slightest noise!
NATHAN : That's right! She never left our side!
BROOKE : It's not my fault, I felt like there were monsters hiding in the forest.
RACHEL : Monsters hiding in the forest? What bullshit!
BROOKE : I must have been six, Rachel. It was just childish fears.
RACHEL : You just wanted to make yourself interesting. And hasn't changed anyway.
LUCAS : What's wrong with you, Rachel? Why are you attacking Brooke like that?
RACHEL : Maybe so you'll come to her defense again?
LUCAS : What are you implying?
RACHEL : I'm implying that all she has to do is whistle for you to come running, Lucas! I'm telling you, we came here together!
LUCAS : Yeah, so what?
RACHEL : So what, you've been ignoring me since we got here! You even rejected me last night, when I thought we were going to spend the night together!
LUCAS : Even though I came here with you, I never said we were going to sleep together, Rachel!
RACHEL : You should have been clearer then! It would have saved me from coming for nothing and seeing you sleeping with the goody-two-shoes!
Hearing Rachel call Brooke that, Lucas suddenly gets up and looks at her with a bad look.
LUCAS : Don't call her that, is that clear?
RACHEL : Otherwise, what? Are you going to "demolish" me?
LUCAS : No, but I can get you out of here!
Seeing the determined look of Lucas, Rachel doesn't say anything more, but stares at him with a sly look, before getting up and going back in.
In the early afternoon, Peyton, Julian and Brooke are in a room, preparing their things for the hike. Brooke takes the opportunity to confess to them what happened with Lucas the day before. Her friends then look at her with wide eyes, not daring to believe it.
PEYTON : Wait, are you telling us that the plan worked?
BROOKE : Yes, it worked perfectly.
Peyton and Julian suddenly bursting out in joy.
PEYTON : But that's great!
JULIAN : That's for sure! I'm very happy for you! And relieved, because I was really afraid of getting shot!
BROOKE : I really don't know how to thank you, Julian.
JULIAN : Maybe by introducing me to a guy?
BROOKE : I'll see what I can do.
PEYTON : You must be so happy!
BROOKE : Yes, I've never been happier.
JULIAN : Has Lucas told you he loves you?
BROOKE : No, not yet. But I hope soon.
PEYTON : We hope so, Brooke. You know I can't wait to start planning your wedding!
BROOKE : We're not there yet, Peyton.
PEYTON : I know, but you and Lucas are meant to be together. This can't end in anything other than marriage between you.
BROOKE : I hope so with all my heart, Peyton.
Moved, Peyton hugs Brooke for a moment, before all three of them happily resume preparing their bags.
An hour later, everyone has started their walk in the forest. The weather is really very nice and they take the time to walk on the small path... Listening to the birds singing and looking for possible animal tracks. After two hours, feeling a little peckish, they decide to stop for a snack. Lucas and Brooke sit side by side to share their snack with complicity. Unfortunately, their behavior seems to exasperate Rachel to the highest degree, and she does not hesitate to let it be known.
RACHEL : Brooke, could I speak to you in private for a moment, please?
BROOKE : Um... why?
RACHEL : Because I have something very important to ask you.
Not knowing if she can trust him, Brooke looks at Lucas and sees that he is shaking his head negatively. But Rachel insists again, and she ends up reluctantly accepting. They both get up to move away from the group, under Lucas' worried gaze. Walking for a few moments, they finally stop at the edge of a small ravine overlooking the valley. Rachel plants herself in front of Brooke with a bad look to finally speak.
RACHEL : I want you to leave Lucas alone, Brooke!
BROOKE : What? Why?
RACHEL : Because because of you, he can't see beyond the end of his nose!
BROOKE : What do you mean?
RACHEL : That means he doesn't see me, Brooke! Already in high school, we broke up because of you! So I want you out of his life for good!
BROOKE : No way, Rachel! Lucas isn't interested in you anyway!
RACHEL : Because you're right here!
BROOKE : No! Even if I wasn't here, Lucas wouldn't be interested in you! You're too different! So I'll say it again, it's out of the question!
RACHEL : If you don't want to, then I'll make you!
BROOKE : Really? And how?
RACHEL : I heard you, Peyton, and Julian talking in the bedroom earlier. I listened at the door. I know about the plan, and I know Julian is gay! This was all a stunt to get Lucas to fall for you! You set him up, and I'm going to tell him everything!
BROOKE : Please, Rachel. Don't tell him anything. I love him.
RACHEL : You don't love him, Brooke! You just like using him like a puppy, because you're a spoiled brat! I'm going to show him what a real woman is!
Turning to go and denounce her, Brooke gently grabs Rachel's arm to try to reason with her. Unfortunately, the latter tries to free herself by pushing her backwards. Unbalanced, Brooke feels herself falling backwards and as if in slow motion into the ravine. Having nothing to hold on to, she topples and rolls to the foot of it, about ten meters below. As she arrives, her head hits a rock and she immediately falls unconscious.
When Brooke finally comes to, she can't tell how long she remained unconscious. All she knows is that Lucas and Nathan are kneeling next to her, looking frantic with worry. She then notices that the others are there too, including Rachel, who is standing back. Brooke then tries to get up, but Lucas immediately stops her as a pain twists her skull.
LUCAS : Don't move, Brooke. Help is on the way. How are you feeling?
BROOKE : I'm sore all over.
LUCAS : It's normal, you hit your head and you have bruises. What happened, Brooke? How did you fall?
Seeing that she hesitates for a long time to answer, Lucas immediately looks at Rachel suspiciously.
LUCAS : What happened, Rachel? You told us that Brooke fell, but you didn't tell us how.
Rachel then immediately goes on the defensive to answer.
RACHEL : It's not my fault, Lucas! It's her fault!
LUCAS : What do you mean, it's her fault?
RACHEL : If she hadn't held me back, none of this would have happened!
LUCAS : Held back from doing what?
RACHEL : From telling you everything!
LUCAS : About what?
RACHEL : About their plan, Lucas!
Closing her eyes for a moment to clear her eyes, Brooke can then see that her friends are all wearing a dismayed look. Lucas looks at them in turn, without understanding, before turning his attention back to Rachel, her face closed.
LUCAS : What plan?
RACHEL : The plan Brooke came up with to make you jealous!
PEYTON : It wasn't Brooke's plan, Rachel! I'm the one who dragged her into this!
RACHEL : So what? She agreed, right?
PEYTON : Yes, but not at first!
Peyton and Rachel start to argue, Lucas cuts them off with a firm voice.
LUCAS : Shut up!
He now aims a stern look at Peyton to question her.
LUCAS : Who knows about this plan?
PEYTON : Almost everyone... Except Haley. Nathan found out a while ago and tried to talk us out of it. You shouldn't blame him.
LUCAS : Okay. So Julian agreed to go out with Brooke to make me jealous?
JULIAN : Yeah, but I'm gay. So nothing happened between us, Lucas.
Closing his mouth, Lucas doesn't say anything else, but now looks at Brooke with an unreadable look. Tears streaming down her cheeks and a lump in her throat, she is unable to tell him anything.
When help finally arrives, no one says a word as they give Brooke first aid. Then, she is placed on a stretcher and carried by the men up the ravine. They transport her to a clearing, where a helicopter has landed. There, she is put on board to be taken to the nearest hospital, in order to undergo tests. Thinking that Lucas and Nathan will both come with her, she nevertheless realizes that only her brother gets on board. She then looks at Lucas in confusion as he stares at her silently from outside. Nathan immediately questions his best friend.
NATHAN : You're not coming, Lucas?
Instead of answering, Lucas closes the doors of the helicopter and backs up as it starts up. Lucas and Brooke's eyes remain locked until the craft rises too high into the air.
