Guest: Thanks.

gpcara2: I'll work on it when I feel like it. Be patient, please.

Mrmarcusj95: I... I don't even know how to respond to that.

ayatoamagiri3425: Thanks.

BadReader: I try to keep Nathan/Spawn's powers at a normal and realistic balance. To give him all that Al Simmons had in the comics... would make him too fucking OP.

rollynolly: Hmm, possibly.

Azai Jin: Thanks.

Ryu Otsutsuki: Thanks.

Disclaimer: I do not own Spawn or Justice League. I only own the OC Nathan Nolan/Spawn.

"I'm on the highway to hell~"

"Highway to Hell" by AC/DC played out of Nathan's phone as he walked down a street in Metropolis, dressed in normal clothing which consisted of a black short-sleeved top, a black leather jacket, dark blue jeans and dark brown boots. As for why he was playing Highway to Hell... well, it was ironic considering what he was.

However, Nathan was too into the song that he didn't notice he was about to bump into someone until he had already bumped into that someone, who was a woman, causing her to fall to the ground.

"Oh shit!" Nathan cursed. "Sorry about that..."

His breath halted as he stared at the most beautiful woman he's ever seen, even more beautiful than his wife. The woman had long raven black hair, a perfect face, a voluptuous body that was definitely not normal. She was dressed in a pair of black pants, a brown blouse and black heels. She was...

"Beautiful..." Nathan muttered as the woman got to her feet but she heard what he said and smiled at him.

"Why thank you for the flattering comment." She said, making Nathan realize what he said out loud.

"Shit, sorry, I didn't mean to say that out loud... or bump into you." Nathan said apologetically. "I was busy listening to a song and didn't see you."

The woman shakes her head, "No, it's my fault. I got too caught up with something on my mind that I wasn't paying any attention."

"Well, that's something we have in common." Nathan joked, which made the two of them chuckle for a bit before shaking hands. "My name's Nathan Nolan."

"Diana Prince." the woman greeted with a smile.

"Nice to meet you, Diana Prince." Nathan said before he looked around. "So, can I offer you lunch as an apology for bumping into you? I feel bad for it."

Diana chuckled and nodded. "I am kinda hungry and was about to go for lunch. I know a nearby diner we can have lunch at."

Nathan nodded and they started walking. As they did, Nathan couldn't help but think. 'Did I just score a date with an incredibly hot woman?'

The two arrived at the diner a few minutes later, and are now sitting at their table eating their food; Nathan had ordered a breakfast sandwich and a chocolate milkshake, while Diana ordered an omelette with orange juice.

"Tell me, Nathan. What brings you here to Metropolis?" Diana asked.

"Well, I was in Gotham yesterday but decided to come here. Just wanted to take in the sights, saw the news and found out that Spawn guy was here." Nathan said as he took a bite out of his sandwich. "Plus, heard about the five rapists he killed last night in Gotham. Not a good way to go, but it's a punishment that's long overdue for the women they hurt."

Diana raised an eyebrow, curious about Nathan's thoughts on Spawn. "What do you think about him? About Spawn? About his methods in dealing with criminals."

Nathan put his sandwich down and hummed as he cleaned his mouth with a napkin. "Spawn? Well, I think the guy's a hero. Hell, he saved my life once. As for his methods, brutal as they are, they do get his point across."

Diana nodded her head. "What do you think of what he does? Why he kills so brutally?"

"My guess? The system." Nathan said, trying to not make any connections between himself and Spawn. His answer caused Diana to frown. "Diana, let me ask you this: How many scumbags have gotten away with it because of how corrupt the justice system is? Because of money, influence, stuff like that? A lot of people. Child killers, pedophiles, rapists, murderers. They got away with what they did because of corrupt lawmen, political influence and money. Look at Billy Kincaid, son of a senator who covered his son's crimes. Spawn gives the people wronged by the system what they want. How many people, how many families have been told that the police and the law can't do anything because of lack of evidence or leads? It's bullshit, I tell you. Everything can be traced and there can be leads if you look hard enough. So Spawn decides to take matters into his own hands, to relieve those families of their burden of missing family members and friends, he gives them TRUE justice. Sure, some don't approve of what he does, but he understands. He's not in it for the fame, he just wants to help people. The Justice League are so stuck on their high horse and have their heads up their asses, complaining on who gets to decide who lives and who dies, which I find ironic considering that they spare the scum who deserve it, so they're basically deciding who lives and they use the excuse of 'it's not their say in the end'. Bullshit, they're still letting scum live, but as soon as someone decides to do it differently, then they start freaking out and losing their mind. Why? Because someone is doing the job they SHOULD be doing, they just don't have the balls to do it. And look at at New York. Before Spawn came along, that city was filled with crime that rivaled Gotham, yet the Justice League came not to stop the crime, but because of how Spawn handles things. There's like 7 or 9 members of the League and they couldn't even go handle criminals. Wasn't the League formed because Superman couldn't be everywhere in the first place? Answer me this, Diana: Are the lives of innocents more important than that of a monster like the Joker?"

Diana looked down as she considered his words, his tirade against her and her fellow League members. She would've agreed with him right then and there, but she had another question in mind. "But what if Spawn ends up going too far? What if he ends up killing innocents?"

"Spawn draws the line at that. He won't harm innocents or civilians for anything. The only scum Spawn kills are the ones that would be put on Death Row if they were on trial. He won't kill the minor types that do small crimes to feed their families, but if there's a thief who's doing it for money to get by another dead, Spawn will just leave that thief bruised and beaten, and most likely needing to go to a hospital, but not bloodied and left dead in a broken heap like he would a rapist or child murderer. Those that have no choice but to turn to crime, they're let off with a very small punishment but Spawn will make sure his warning is clear. He isn't merciless, he does spare and he will show mercy and let certain criminals go if they've proved to him that they're doing this for very good reasons and not sadistic pleasure or the desire to see people's lives destroyed because their lives were fucked from the start. Look at Billy Kincaid again, he killed children because his daddy was never there or didn't have time for him, and he decided that if he couldn't have a happy childhood, then no one could. Only psychopaths use the excuses of abusive childhoods or bullied backgrounds, or even mental illnesses, to hurt or kill innocents simply because they lived happier lives than they did, or because they just feel like it, and none of them deserve sympathy nor a second chance." Nathan said, finishing his rant and the reason he killed, well it was most of the truth but it wasn't the entire truth.

For the first time, Diana was speechless. Anyone else in the League would simply retort that they would be no better than the criminals if they killed even one, or that even the vilest of criminals deserved another chance, but Nathan's argument was shockingly specific. It was true, some people do think they've suffered something horrible that warped them into cruel and sadistic monsters, or that they're suffering some kind of mental illness that urges them to kill people. By some people, that meant mostly the people working at Arkham, naïvely trying and failing to cure the patients. Still, it was no excuse for them to keep hurting others under such pretenses when they already take pleasure in their cruelty.

"You're right." Diana finally found her voice and spoke her answer. "None of them deserve a second chance if they turned to killing because of those reasons. Still, what about the other part? The one with criminals helping their families or not hurting innocent people?"

"Well, there are some out there who had VERY good reasons to turn to crime." Nathan said and started listing off. "First there's Clayface; look at what's happened to him and how he was treated in response to becoming what he is when he just wanted help to be normal again. Mr. Freeze is just looking for a cure for himself and his wife. Sure, he goes overboard at times to get it, but I don't think he's hurt or even killed anyone who's innocent. He's one of those who don't deserve to be in Arkham just for helping someone close to them. Next is Harvey Dent, a guy who just wanted to get rid of the corruption in Gotham City, and he gets his life ruined and half his face burned off. And let's not forget Harley Quinn, a girl who could've had a great life and future had she not been manipulated and charmed by the Joker into falling in love with him and becoming his punching bag. If there's any way Spawn could help either of them, then he could. And the guys at Arkham Asylum? Those who claim they're trying to 'cure' their patients? Yeah, I'll believe that when the Joker actually is cured and redeemed, but Hell will freeze over when that happens. The guys at Arkham are just in it for the fame and money that come with 'curing' those that actually need help while letting the crazier ones loose. That's what really separates guys like Spawn from the scum they fight."

Diana was left in stunned silence from his words. During her time with the League, and hearing their thoughts on violent vigilantes like Spawn, Huntress, and the Red Hood, she never even thought of people like them showing sympathy towards criminals with relatively tragic backgrounds while acting merciless towards the more violent ones. Now she was starting to see the picture more differently.

"I… I think I get where you're going with this." she admitted. "Maybe people like Spawn are needed, no matter how brutal their methods are, but I've been around people who keep saying otherwise."

Nathan scoffed. "Let me guess, someone said 'How long until he targets the innocent when he's killed all the bad guys'? Whoever says that are just complete dumbasses who can't see the picture very well."

"Well, my… friends told me that he'll eventually turn his attention to innocents when there's no criminals left for him to kill." Diana said, hiding the truth yet telling a bit of what Batman said at the same time.

Nathan almost clenched his fists at hearing that, anger coursing through him at how someone would think he'd go after innocent people. He was not that guy anymore. He gunned down people, innocent and guilty alike, back during his days as a Black Ops assassin. Never again would he repeat that mistake in this new life. He knows the difference between innocents and criminals, he's been around bad people long enough to know. After all, he was one himself once, because how else would he end up in Hell?

He kept his expression blank and hid his true feelings and cleared his throat before saying. "Really? Well whoever your friend is sounds like a suck up to the Justice League, that whatever they say goes because they are 'heroes'. The only one of them that looks like the one who has the guts to do what's necessary is Wonder Woman. Why else is she allowed to carry a sword and shield? Do they want to just add more of those disgusting comments made about her already?"

Diana almost winced but she almost let disgust show on her face as she remembered the comments people, mostly men, made about her when she joined the League. They called her hot, sexy, a "hot as fuck piece of ass". While that would be flattering, she heard of how men would love to "show her a good time" or "motorboat her tits". Even some women call her a slut or whore for the way she dressed as Wonder Woman, probably out of jealousy for the figure she possessed.

Shaking her head, she asks him. "Do you hate the Justice League?"

Nathan paused in drinking his coffee. "Hate's such a strong word, but no. I don't hate them, not all of them at least. I just hate how they see things, this black and white view of the world and its problems. How they think everyone can be redeemed and yet the more they think that, the more innocent people are killed. It's like they just expect the families and friends of the victims to move on with their lives while the killer is locked up but ends up breaking out days or weeks later to kill more. This is the real world; if someone is too far gone to be helped, you don't put them in jail or a mental asylum so they can grow more crazy and fucked up… you put them down for good. That's the way the world goes and always has."

The two sat there in silence, Diana thinking over Nathan's words, his view on the world, Spawn, and the League. She sighed before shaking her head and stood up. "I better go. I got… work to do and my boss may fire me if I'm late."

"A beautiful woman like you? He'd be dumb to fire you." Nathan snorted, making her chuckle as she went to leave but paused and considered something before looking at him with a smirk, making him raise an eyebrow. "What?"

She walked over, took a pen out of her pocket and started writing down numbers on the back of his hand. once she was finished, she smiled at him. "That's my number. Call me." She winked at him and walked away, putting a purposeful sway in her hips, knowing his eyes were drawn to her ass along with the gaze of every man, and some women, in this diner.

Once she was gone. Nathan looked at her number and shook his head. "What a woman…"

And that's it for this chapter. Let me know what you think in the reviews. This is also the last of the original chapters that was improved by XenoSlayer, so anything beyond this is simply my work put into it... or the typical superhero stuff that you see in comics and movies.

Ah, you all know what I mean.

Anyway, if you all are enjoying this story, with Nathan/Spawn fucking shit up, then I know you'll love Marvel's Spawn. So be sure to check that out if you haven't. Just as this is a single pairing, so is that story, and Nathan is paired with Black Cat.
