Catalina: "We have a problem" I said seriously
Humphrey: "What's wrong?" I asked seriously
Catalina: "They are the sigmas, several are on the northern border" I explained
Humphrey: "Have the alphas mobilized yet?" I asked
Catalina: "That's right, they notified me while I was visiting Jhosh" I said
Humphrey: "Let's hurry up, they won't last long" I said hurriedly
Catalina: "That's the strange thing, they are at the edge of our border, but they have not wanted to advance, so no fighting has started yet" I explained
Humphrey: "That's weird, they're probably planning something," I said thoughtfully
Catalina: "It's a possibility or they just want to talk" I suggested
Humphrey: "I hope so, but we can't risk it," I said seriously
Catalina: "Are we going to the border to confront them?" I asked
Humphrey: "I would like us both to go to the border, I feel that your support is essential, especially because of your connection with the Sigmas, but I do not want to leave our rear unprotected, we must not rule out that it is a trap" I said thoughtfully
Catalina: "In that case I will go and you stay watching the rearguard" I said
Humphrey: "I also considered it, but from what you said, it's several sigmas, in case of a fight, not even you would come out unscathed" I said worriedly
Catalina: "I don't have to defeat them, just resist until reinforcements arrive" I said confidently
Humphrey: "It's a pretty risky plan," I said unsurely
Catalina: "In case something goes wrong, I will send a signal immediately, I will be able to hold out until you arrive" I said confidently
Humphrey: I thought for a moment, but I couldn't think of a better option, "Fine, but don't take too many risks, if you see the opportunity to escape, take it" I said
Catalina: "Don't worry, I'll take care of it," I said, nodding before running off to the border
Humphrey: I nodded as I watched her walk away, I quickly called the alphas to organize them and be as prepared as possible
Meanwhile with Catalina
Catalina: It didn't take me long to get to the border, where I saw several alphas ready to fight while the sigmas were calm
"They finally deigned to send someone," said one of the sigmas upon seeing Catalina
Catalina: "What do you want?" I asked them seriously as I approached a little, but not too much to keep a safe distance between us
"Calm down, we didn't come to fight, just to talk," said the smallest sigma of the group calmly
Catalina: "I can't let my guard down with you, you just attacked us yesterday" I said seriously
"I guess it was to be expected, but at least listen to what we have to say," said the sigma as she tried to calm the atmosphere
Catalina: "Go ahead, I hear you, but don't even think about taking a step into the territory or I will invade it and attack you," I said seriously
"We want to know if what the group of dreamers told us is true," said the sigma with greater seriousness
Catalina: "The group of dreamers?" I asked them confused
"This is how we politely say to those who believe that the children of our former leaders are still alive," explained the Sigma
Catalina: "Oh them, I've already met them before" I said
"If you have already met them and you are still alive, either you are very good or you are the supposed wolf who is the daughter of our former leaders," said the Sigma seriously
Catalina: "I don't know the whole truth, but from what I found out and what they told me, it seems that it is true," I said
"This is ridiculous, how can an alpha elite be the daughter of our former leaders" said another sigma angrily
"Silence" demanded the little sigma, then he turned to Catalina and asked her "Do you have proof of what you say?"
Catalina: I told them everything I knew about the subject, I even showed them my birthmark
"That's impossible, it must be a trick of the damn alpha elite" said the same sigma stubbornly
"I told you to keep quiet," said the little sigma seriously, then she turned to Catalina and said, "We must think and analyze well what you told us, so for now we will leave, thank you for telling us your story"
Catalina: "Even though it may seem hard to believe, we do not want a war with you, that is why I came in person to talk to you" I said
"The damage done is not forgotten so easily" said one of the sigmas seriously
Catalina: "We can say the same, both sides have suffered too much in this war, we have all lost families, friends, even our homeland and if we continue like this, we will end up losing the little we have left" I said seriously
"You have a point with that," said the little sigma thoughtfully
"Are you really considering what she said?" one of the sigmas said seriously
Little Sigma sighed for a moment before turning around and giving him a hard punch in the face that put him out of action, "This is a warning to everyone, if I tell you to keep quiet, I expect you to obey"
All the sigmas just nodded
Catalina: That blow surprised me quite a bit, not only did I not feel his intention to attack, but his speed and power were admirable, "Could I match that speed and power?" I asked myself a little nervously
"That would be all for now, we will think about what you said" said the sigma before leaving with the others
Catalina: I couldn't help but let out a sigh of relief when they walked away, "It was intense" I said to myself as I tried to calm down, I knew I couldn't have taken them all on at once and that Sigma, despite its size, looked really strong, "I better tell Humphrey what happened" I said to myself
Several minutes later in the alpha leader's cave
Humphrey was pacing back and forth quite worried as he waited for more information from the different borders
Kate: "If you keep going like this, I'm going to get dizzy" I said as I watched him go from one side to the other
Humphrey: "Sorry, I'm just worried about the situation," I said
Kate: "I know that, I am also quite worried, but you will gain nothing by worrying too much, the best thing you can do is prepare yourself and trust in others" I said
Humphrey: "I know and I trust everyone, but there is a lot at stake and I don't want to lose anyone" I said
Kate: "I understand you and I know you are capable of achieving it" I said confidently
Humphrey: "Thank you" I said smiling, at that moment I heard someone approaching, so I peeked through the entrance of the cave and was relieved to see Catalina, "I'm glad you're okay" I said relieved when she was close enough
Catalina: "I told you to leave it to me" I said proudly
Humphrey: "What happened?" I asked
Catalina: "Indeed they just wanted to talk about you know what" I said
Humphrey: "I see, so you had that doubt too," I said
Catalina: "That's right, I told them everything I knew about it," I said
Humphrey: "Did they believe you?" I asked in surprise
Catalina: "Maybe, I'm not sure about that, but I'm sure they were left with doubts," I said
Humphrey: "They will surely try to check it or find some flaw in your story and your facts," I said thoughtfully
Catalina: "Some of them will surely do it, but I could see that in that aspect they were quite divided, there were some who were open to dialogue and others who refused to listen" I explained
Humphrey: "If that is the case, those who are open to dialogue are either more or stronger in forcing others" I said thoughtfully
Catalina: "Indeed, the one who seemed to be their leader was the one who was most willing to listen to me and from what little she showed, she seems to be extremely strong" I said seriously
Humphrey: "How strong did she seem?" I asked
Catalina: "It would give me a lot of problems, I'm not completely sure I could beat it" I said seriously
Humphrey: "Wow, she is strong," I said, surprised
Catalina: "It's just a stipulation for just one act she did, she could easily be more skilled than she showed" I explained
Humphrey: "I see," I said thoughtfully
Kate: "Does that mean there will be no more fights against the sigmas?" I asked
Catalina: "It's not definitive, but at least for now" I said
Humphrey: "Hopefully it will be enough time for us to be in top form" I said
Catalina: "I agree, we need Scott and Josh, we are very limited in attack strength" I said nodding
Kate: "We have the other alphas, but from what I see their skills are far behind" I said with a sigh
Humphrey: "We could train them to be better prepared, but I am worried that the Sigmas will then target them," I said
Kate: "What do you mean?" I asked confused
Humphrey: "The sigmas have not attacked the normal alphas, they don't even see them as targets, they are only attacked when they are between them and their true target or at least that is what I could perceive from their previous attacks" I explained
Catalina: "It's true, I also noticed the same thing," I said, nodding
Kate: "I see" I said thoughtfully, it was certainly a difficult decision to make
Catalina: "This is a problem of the alpha elite; it is not right that we involve the others" I said seriously
Humphrey: "I know that and I would have agreed with you completely before, but there is a problem," I said
Catalina: "What is it?" I asked confused
Humphrey: "They're not just coming for the four of us now, but for my pups and probably Scoot's too, we can't let anything happen to them" I said
Catalina: "Are you sure they will involve them? They are just puppies and Scoot does not want to raise his own as elite alphas, he wants them to have normal and quiet lives" I said somewhat skeptical
Kate: "They sent some assassins after me while you were gone, among them was a Sigma apprentice, we were lucky to be able to stop them" I explained to them
Humphrey: "I should have seen it coming, they will involve anyone who is directly related to the alpha elite, I should not have left you without sufficient protection" I said annoyed when I heard that they tried to kill her
Kate: "Don't blame yourself for that, in the end nothing bad happened" I said
Catalina: "Besides, you thought you were doing the right thing by going to train and improve while the rest of us were in charge of getting allies and preparing everything for the upcoming fight," I said
Humphrey: "You are right about that, but I should have foreseen the situation better," I said with a sigh
Kate: "Don't worry about that anymore, that's in the past, now the important thing is to look to the future" I said smiling
Humphrey: "You are right about that," I said, nodding
Catalina: "So what happens next?" I asked
Humphrey: "I need to know how you got on with what I asked you to do," I said seriously
Catalina: "I took care of what you asked me and Scoot to do, while he went to get his puppies" I explained
Humphrey: "Did he go for his puppies? Does that mean they are here?" I asked surprised
Catalina: "Yes, I saw them yesterday when I spoke to him," I said, nodding
Humphrey: "I see, he probably had a bad feeling about what was coming and that's why he went for them" I said thoughtfully
Catalina: "It's possible, hearing that the sigmas returned worried him a lot and he probably didn't want to take any risks" I said, nodding
Humphrey: "I understand, I wish he would have told me that, I would have allowed him to go get his puppies while we distributed the preparations better" I said with a sigh
Catalina: "He probably didn't want to cause you any problems, he still sees us as puppies that he needs to protect" I said, being understanding about the situation
Humphrey: "I guess you're right," I said, nodding. "How did it go with the order?" I asked
Catalina: "We have a little less than half of our former allies, many were scared when they found out that the Sigmas returned and prefer not to mess with them" I explained sadly
Humphrey: "I was afraid that would happen," I said with a sigh, "What happened to the relics that each pack protected?" I asked
Catalina: "Several apparently were lost, but we have access to three and there is a fourth that was lost, but I think I found its location, although I could not confirm it one hundred percent, but it is almost certain that it is there" I said
Humphrey: "I see, that does worry me, I was hoping to have access to everyone, but we will have to use what we have" I said
Catalina: "I thought you wanted to resolve the conflict against the sigmas in the most peaceful way possible" I said somewhat surprised to hear what he said
Humphrey: "After what you told me that is what I want, but we need to be prepared, because we may face something worse than the sigmas" I said seriously
Catalina: "You mean the society of shadows?" I asked
Humphrey: I nodded and explained, "It is very likely that they already know that we are trying to have conversations with the Sigmas and that we are seeking peace with them, so they will intervene to prevent it and make us destroy each other"
Catalina: "That's true, that's likely to happen, how should we deal with that?" I asked
Humphrey: "I'm not entirely sure yet, but I do know that when that happens it's our best chance to strike back," I said
Catalina: "Do you want to use these possible negotiations with the Sigmas as a decoy to attract the shadow society?" I asked incredulously
Humphrey: "Exactly, locating them is practically impossible, but if we let them come to us, we can catch them, get answers and if necessary finish them off" I said seriously
Catalina: "I don't like leaving something as important as a negotiation with the Sigmas as a decoy, but I understand your point, it will be very difficult for us to locate them, they are literally experts in appearing not to exist" I said thoughtfully
Humphrey: "Let's wait for the others to recover to implement the second stage of the blue code, in the meantime I want to put you in charge of all interaction with the sigmas, you will be the bridge that ends this war" I said
Catalina: "Me? Are you sure you want me to take care of that?" I asked, surprised
Humphrey: "You are the one, I know you will do well" I said confidently
Catalina: "Thank you, I won't let you down" I said smiling
Humphrey: "I know," I said, nodding
