As Tanabata comes to an end, a dangerous storm is brewing on the horizon. Within the deepest and darkest of shadows, the dangerous yakuza group are scheming their most dangerous plan and will be taking it to Hachimitsu. We turn the page on the new story arc, "Enter the Sleeping Wolves arc". What danger awaits our characters. Let us begin…
….
Several Years Ago…
Amongst the track field, a group of students were running the track. All of the students, both boys and girls, were dressed in white shirts and black shorts. Watching the students running around the track, the teacher was wearing a jersey jacket and sweatpants. Holding a clipboard next to her.
Amongst the track, Hayakki was running next to her fellow students, with each panting breath. Not paying mind to any of the students who were running alongside, she kept her eyes forward with a pondering thought.
Until she heard someone falling behind. She looks behind her and notices a familiar black-haired girl with a purple streak shading down the back of her hair. Hayakki stopped for a moment and looked back at the girl who was holding her ankle, seething through her teeth.
Hayakki rolled her eyes as she ran over to the young teen. As she reaches the girl, she bends down on her knee and looks at her injured ankle. "Let me see…"
"Huh?" The teen looks at the pink-haired girl. "It's fine. It's just an injury…"
Hayakki rolled her eyes. "Don't be a stubborn mule, come on. Show me…"
The teen soon gave up on trying to hide it and showed her ankle. Hayakki took a look at the wound, a small cut with a little blood leaking from it.
"Jeez, you klutz, what the hell were you spacing out about that caused you to scrape your knee like that…" Hayakki said with an annoyed tone.
The girl gave a small chuckle. "Sorry, sorry. I was just thinking about what I was going to eat when I go home later today."
Hayakki's expression fell as she looked at the girl who couldn't help but to chuckle. "Are you kidding me right now? You were so distracted by your stomach you nearly forgot you were running practice."
"Hehehe…"
Hayakki sighed to herself. "This girl is weird…"
"Kakeguri! Nekumi! You're lagging behind!" The teacher yelled from the otherside of the track.
Hayakki turned her head towards the teacher. Cupping her hand over her mouth, she gave a shout. "KAKEGURI INJURED! I'LL TAKE HER TO THE INFIRMARY!"
"I see…alright! I leave her in your care, Nekumi!"
"Thank you!" Hayakki held her hand out to the girl. "Come on, take my hand. We're gonna take a look at that wound."
"H-Hey, come on. You don't need to go that far. Like I said it's just a wound…." Yoshimiya said with a nervous smile.
Hayakki rolled her eyes as she grabbed her hand. She gently raised her from the ground, she then threw Kakeguri hand around her neck. Her body leaned against Hayakki. "Hang on tight, okay?"
Kakeguri blinked with a slight blush on her cheeks. Her eyes gazed the other way, not wanting to look at Hayakki, showing her embarrassed face.
-Infirmary-
Hayakki poured water over her small wound on her ankle. After she was done, she grabbed a piece of bandaid and puts it over Kakeguri ankle.
"Alright, you should be good…" Hayakki said.
Kakeguri smiled at the pink-haired girl. "Thanks, Nekumi-san."
Hayakki groaned a little. "Hayakki…"
"Huh?"
"Hayakki. My name. And no need to be formal either, just call me Hayakki." The teen said with a bit of a distaste in her mouth.
Kakeguri blinked at the girl's expression at the way she was mentioning it. She decided to leave it alone and not press on the issue. "Okay then…then you can call me Yoshimiya."
Hayakki glanced at the teen. "Yoshimiya? Huh?"
"Yeah. My name." She smiled.
"Why bother telling me…" She said with a rather annoyed tone.
"Because you don't mind me calling you by your first name. Plus, I don't have to be formal with you, so yeah."
Hayakki's expression turned baffled as she looked at the smiling teen. "Hold on, that doesn't make sense."
"Yeah it does. Call it us being even. Plus, don't you think it would be weird that I'm speaking to you formally and you're the only one who's not referring to me formally either." Yoshimiya pointed out.
Hayakki groaned a little. She does a little 'huff' in the air. "Who the hell cares, right?"
"Well I do. So yeah, call me Yoshimiya."
Hayakki blinked as she looked back at the girl with a faint blush. "I don't get you."
"What not to get?"
"Just you." Hayakki stood up and crossed her under her chest. Glaring at the girl. "I mean, your whole character. Like why are you so…well…happy?"
Yoshimiya blinked as she tilted her head at the teen. "Hm?"
"Don't 'hm' me! You know exactly what I mean."
Yoshimiya blinked as she began to ponder on Hayakki's question. "I…don't know how to answer that question. I mean, I'm not sure what you mean by 'how am I always happy' or something like that."
Hayakki blinked as she looked the other way with blush. "Maybe the question was a bit too puzzling…or out of the blues in this case. Let me put this in perspective, I'm always seeing you all smiling and what not. Chatting it up with that red head girl, laughing, hell you even help people as well. I'm always seeing you all bright…like a star I guess. So what's the secret?"
Yoshimiya just blinked at the teen with a puzzled expression. She began to ponder for a moment as she sat quietly on the edge of the bed before looking at her. "I…really don't know how to answer that for you."
Hayakki's eyes downcasted for a moment. Her bangs covered her eyes. "So…you can't answer my question then…well I mean, it IS a weird question, so-"
"I think…that's something you need to find on your own."
Hayakki stopped for a moment as she looked at the teen.
Yoshimiya leaned forward with her hand clasped together as she thought for a moment. "I know it's a bit confusing and cliche, but for me to answer your question…it's something you need to find on your own. Like me for example, I guess why I'm bright is because I'm grateful for the life I have. Sure, it's not perfect, nor is it the smoothest ride. I cry, I argue, mainly everything…but at the end of the day…the friends I have by my side, my mother…I guess the life I have is the reason why I'm happy."
Hayakki bit her lips slightly. "What if…what if the life you have is nothing but a rotten world."
Yoshimiya looks up at the teen. Hayakki held a bitter look as she looked the other way.
"What if the life you have is nothing but misery. Waking up every morning knowing that you're nothing but a failure in your parents eyes. Your parents expect great things from you even though you try so hard to appease them. You're not allowed to show any sign of weakness…everything that your life is built on is nothing but lies, blood, corpse and everything you know and love just sitting right under you with no choice!"
Hayakki's lips quivered a little but not before she shook her head. Realizing what she said. "I'm sorry, but yeah, if your life was miserable…what then…"
Yoshimiya blinked as she looked at Hayakki before pondering. "Let me ask you something…are you happy with the life that you were given or forced upon?"
"Huh?" Hayakki blinked at the girl.
"I mean, if the life that you were born in isn't the one you asked for…who to say that you want that life. Or even follow it. If you want to make your own life, something that makes you happy, then make it happen."
Hayakki didn't say anything as she just looked at the girl who stared at her back.
"I know it's cliche of me saying this or hell, maybe not the best thing to say. But who to say you want the life you were born in. I say take that thread and break it from yourself. And once that thread is broken, chase the shooting star and make a path of your own. Only then, I can say for sure, you'll be able to make a bright smile."
Hayakki just blinked with a little bit of a widened, softened gaze. She looks at the teen who had a determined look, not glaring but giving Hayakki a reassuring smile. Her cheeks faintly flushed as she looked the other way.
"Geez, so cliche…"
"Hehe~. Guess it was a little cliche, huh?" Yoshimiya said with a bit of a chuckle.
Hayakki looks back at the teen who was laughing. Her lips couldn't help but to feel a tug as she formed a small smile. "But…I guess it wasn't a terrible answer either."
Yoshimiya offered a small smile too. "Hey, you wanna hang out after school. I and Megumi are going to the mall after this…"
"Y-You sure…I mean, I don't want to intrude or anything." Hayakki said.
"Come on, it will be fun."
"I mean…I guess I could get away from the house for a while…"
-Nekumi's Mansion- [Hayakki's Room]
Current Present Timeline…
July 8th (Sunday)
9:00am
Hayakki wakes up in her room with tears stained against her cheeks. She rose up from her bed, swinging her feet off to the edge. She sits there with a pondering thought, her hands clasped together upon her knee.
"Find my own happiness…forging my own path…" Hayakki repeated to herself as she clenched her hands. "And I took it all and killed my chances of finding my own path…"
She started to quiver a little with tears building in her eyes. Painful memories rushing through her mind. She leaned forward with her hands grabbing her own head.
"What the hell am I even doing…why am I even on born into this life…I never…I never chose to be here…I don't want this-"
"HOMURA! PLEASE EAT YOUR VEGETABLE!"
Hayakki flinched as she heard a familiar racket going on out of her room. A series of crashes, smashing and running going on along with two familiar voices.
"YOU GET THAT DIRT FOOD AWAY FROM ME!" Homura yelled.
"IT'S NOT DIRT! IT'S A VEGETABLE! COMPLETELY EDIBLE AND NUTRITIOUS FOR SOMEONE SUCH AS YOU!" Izumi yelled.
"THAT THE TYPE OF SHIT THAT YOU PICK UP FROM THE GARDEN AND FORCE PEOPLE TO EAT! IT'S DIRT!"
*THUD!*
"NOWHERE TO RUN! NOW EAT IT!"
"GET OFF OF ME, IZUMI! AND GET THAT SHIT AWAY FROM ME!"
Hayakki couldn't help but to draw out a sigh as she stood from her bed and walked towards the door. Wondering what type of trouble the two got into right at this very moment.
Outside of the room, in the hallway, Homura was currently being pinned on the ground with Izumi on her back. In her hand was the broccoli and her other hand was trying to force Homura's mouth to open up.
"STOP BEING A STUBBORN CHILD AND EAT YOUR FOOD!"
"HM-MM!" Homura shook her head, refusing to open her mouth.
"What in the world are you girls doing?"
Izumi looked over her shoulders and spotted Hayakki looking at the scene with her hands crossed under her breasts.
"Ah. Good morning Lady Hayakki! I'm trying to get Homura to eat her vegetables, but she's refusing to eat! HOMURA!"
"MPPPPH! PHHHHMM! MM!"
"Oh for heaven sake."
Hayakki grabs the broccoli out of Izumi's hand and walks in front of Homura. Kneeling down in front of her with a flat expression with the broccoli in her hand.
"Homura," Hayakki said, getting the brawler's attention. "What's the first sounding letter of the word 'apple'?"
"Ah-!" Before Homura could even react, she found the broccoli shoved right into her mouth by Hayakki.
Wanting to spit it out, she found her mouth forcibly closed by Izumi who leaned near her face with a cold glare. "Don't. Even. Try it. Chew the food. And swallow it."
Homura could only growl at the teen on top of her. Judging from the cold glare, she knew she had nothing else to go on with, she needed to eat it. Steeling herself, she chewed the food in her mouth and swallowed it whole.
"BLEGH! I FUCKIN HATE BROCCOLI! Homura yelled as she stuck her tongue out.
Izumi sighed in relief as she stood back up with a glare. "Oh don't be such a child. There's nothing wrong with eating anything healthy."
"HEALTHY MY ASS! THAT TASTED HORRIBLE!"
"Kind of reminds me of the time that both I and Izumi needed to give you a bath. You straight up refused."
"I was fine the way I was!"
"You reeked. You were dirty. And you didn't bathe in…what was it?" Hayakki asked Izumi.
"If I recall, it was approximately 5 years."
"THAT'S RIGHT!" Hayakki said.
Homura could only carelessly look in the other direction. "Yeah well, still was fine."
"No it wasn't." Izumi bluntly said before looking at Hayakki whose eyes were slightly red. "You okay, milady?"
"Hm?"
"Your eyes…"
Hayakki didn't take much time to register what she meant as she caught on to what she was saying. She looked down at her own feet with a frown. "Just had a dream that's all…"
Izumi and Homura shared glances at each other before looking back at the daughter of the immortal wolf. "Do you wish to speak about it…"
"N-No it's nothing too…serious…" Hayakki trailed on her own words before she took the time to think again. "Hey…mind if I ask you guys a question?"
The two paid attention.
"...am I an idiot?"
"Do you mind clarifying?" Izumi asked with a serious tone as she got off of Homura back and sat with both her knees on the floor. Homura got up and sat criss-cross.
"...by trying to allow my father to take control of my life." Hayakki asked. "I mean, him trying to make ME into being the next leader of the sleeping wolves. Trying to be like him in every step of the way…becoming the next immortal wolf…even though I never asked for it…"
Hayakki dug her head into her knees, painful memories surging through her mind once more. Everything that had happened beforehand and onward…it's been nothing but trouble for her. She hugged herself tighter, trying to ease the pain and fear of her father.
She felt Homura hand softly rubbing her back. Giving her friend a reassuring look. "Of course you're not. You're not an idiot, Hayakki."
"But I am!" Hayakki yelled with a painful tone. "I let my father control my life! I allowed him to take away the things and people I love the most! I try to be the perfect little girl in his eyes, but all I get is nothing but pain and misery. And what's worse…I let someone precious to me get the worst of it…"
Hayakki begins to tear up a little. "Is it *hic* is it too late for me to break out of this life?"
She felt another hand softly touch her back. Izumi sitting next to her with a soft look. "Lady Hayakki…I believe it is not too late to back out. Sir Tatsuya maybe…unreasonable at times and even hard-headed. But his blood relation to you, doesn't define who you are."
"She's right!" Homura said with a peppy smile. "Tatsuya can sometimes be a real stick in the mud. But you on the other hand…you're a really cool person. You're nicer, smarter and definitely not as strict as Tatsuya. I mean, you can be scary when you're mad, but definitely not super nasty."
Hayakki couldn't help but to feel a little complicated. "Um…I don't think that's something I can find as a compliment."
Izumi sighed to herself as she pushed her glasses up and looked at the young heiress. "I think what Homura is trying to say is…you're not like your father. You are your own person. You just need to step out of your father's shadow."
Hayakki thought for a moment, letting her friend's words sink in. "I…I think it's a little too late for me to change…after everything I've done…I think it's over for me."
Homura and Izumi shared worried glances at each other. Worried about their friend who is coming to reflect on her actions.
Just before either of them said anything, a familiar ring tone rang in Izumi's pocket. Izumi reached inside the pocket of her skirt and brought out the phone. Looking at the screen with a raised brow before answering.
"Hello."
[Hello Izumi.]
"Good Morning Sir Tatsuya." She said, capturing the attention of the other two. "Are you still on your business trip?"
[Actually, I'm just getting back from my trip.] Tatsuya said.
"I see…you're coming back." She said as she cast a glance at Hayakki who had a little shuttered breathing. Having Homura trying to calm her down. "How was your trip?"
Tatsuya took a moment to ponder his thoughts. [It was…enlightening.]
Izumi raised a brow. "What do you mean?"
[The trip itself was fairly entertaining and interesting. You could say we got ourselves a new business partner that could help the sleeping wolves in the future. No…this could benefit us really well.] Tatsuya said with a satisfied tone.
Izumi couldn't help but to feel a little worried. "What do you mean? Sir, what exactly happened on that trip?"
Tatsuya snickered a little. [How about I show you instead. I want you, Homura and Hayakki to come to the prison camp. I think it best if I show you…no. I'll show everyone that the immortal wolf…is not to be reason with.]
*Click!*
Izumi blinked as she looked at the phone with a confused expression.
"What the hell he meant by that…" Homura said with an equally confused expression.
"Not sure…but he wants us all to be present at the prison camp. But I'm not sure about this…Sir Tatsuya's tone sounded rather…different."
Hayakki blinked as she looked up at the glasses wearing teen. "What do you mean?"
Izumi pondered for a moment before shaking her head. "Again, not sure what's going on with Sir Tatsuya or what he meant by that…but for now let us go to the prison camp. Whatever Sir Tatsuya has in mind to show us…I could imagine something I think we should be worried about or…possibly about the future of the sleeping wolves."
Hayakki blinked with a worried expression. Not liking the tone of voice Izumi had regarding her father. She sighed to herself and looked at her friends. "Let's go then."
Izumi nodded. "Yes Milady."
-Tatsuya Prison Camp-
Deep within the woods, far off in the mountain area, surrounding a group of buildings in the middle and a large open area was a 20 feet wall with barbed wire on top, snaking around it. Within the area, was a big building that took up many spaces within the confined area. Leaving more space both front and back of the area. On the concrete was a tall pole with a megaphone attached to the tip of the pole.
Walking amongst the open spacious area, many people dressed in the same uniform. Wearing black and white jumpsuits with mysterious collars being worn around their necks.
Inside the building, there were just as many people as there were inside then there were outside. Tables set up in rows, with inmates sitting facing forwards at each other while eating their foods that they were given. With the other half finished and just chatting amongst each other.
Amongst the table sat two familiar figures. Hinata and Yuto. The two now garbed in similar uniforms as everyone else. Yuto was casually eating his food not paying attention to the atmosphere, but Hinata on the other hand…was not faring well.
Yuto opened his eyes and noticed the irritated way he was chewing his food. "Are you hanging in there?"
Hinata growled a little. "No. I'm not."
"Hinata, you need to calm down. There's not much we can do while we're here."
"How am I supposed to calm down," Hinata said as he looked at his partner with an irritated glare. "Right there…the killer was right under our noses the entire time! Make matters worse, we're right in some prison camp, in the middle of mountains in the middle of nowhere!"
Yuto sighs to himself. "Hinata, calm down."
"Six days…we've been trapped in this miserable place for six days straight!"
*SLAM*
"TATSUYA IS TRYING TO KEEP US AWAY FROM KNOWING THE TRUTH!"
Yuto growled a little as he leaned on the table with his elbow. Glaring at his partner. "Look, I know you're mad, I get it. But can you please keep your voice down. You're causing a scene."
Hinata was about to raise his voice again but soon took another look around. Looking up at the balcony were the guards, one or two of them were staring at him with warning glares. Hinata could only growl under his breath and sat back down.
"This is so infuriating, some reporter I turned out to be…"
"Calm down. Why don't we just look on the bright side, we're finally onto something here. You could see this as a golden opportunity. Not only that, we have a new ally."
Hinata blinked, letting his friend's word sink in. "That's right…but can we really trust him, he is a yakuza, right?"
"He is. But remember, he mentioned being an old traditional yakuza. Much different from the present day yakuza that we know today. Not only that, he's the source we have to know more about Tatsuya."
Hinata looked at his food with a pondering thought. "I know that…but the whole idea of Tatsuya being the infamous immortal wolf…I mean, the immortal wolf has remained hidden for years from us, how has he been avoiding authority for so long?"
Yuto did some pondering before speaking. "I have some ideas."
"Really? Did you find anything?"
"I'll let you know when we meet Junichi. For now, stay low and keep to yourself…"
*CRASH!* *THUD!*
Both of them nearly jumped out of their seats. Their heads snapping to the side and spot two males fighting on the other side of the cafeteria. One man was holding another man's collar. Forcing him to be lifted up slightly in the air with him glaring and growling at the man he was lifting in his fist.
"YOU SHUT YOUR GODDAMN MOUTH YOU BASTARD!"
"H-HEY! LET GO OF ME!" Said the victim who was trying to have the man let him go.
"I'M GETTING OUT OF HERE! ONE WAY OR ANOTHER! TATSUYA AIN'T GOT SHIT ON ME! I'M GONNA BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF THAT BASTARD AND I'M GETTING OUT OF HERE!"
All the inmates heard what he said, soon muttering erupted over the cafeteria, many of them referring to the man who was fighting over the other one.
"Did he say that he was going to beat Tatsuya and escape from here?"
"I did hear that, but is he serious though?"
"No way, that man got a death wish…"
Hinata and Yuto couldn't help but to hear the conversation between the inmates. All of them were not praising or complimenting the angry man.
"There he goes again, picking fights." Hinata said with a tired expression.
"It's like this almost every day. But given the situation, I'm not surprised he's being very on edge…" Yuto said.
"LOOK MAN! FORGET IT! YOU GOT YOURSELF A DEATH WISH IF YOU PLAN ON GOING AGAINST TATSUYA! IT'S HOPELESS!" Said the unfortunate victim.
"SHUT UP! I DON'T WANT TO HEAR THAT FROM A COWARD LIKE YOU!" The man yelled back. "How long…how long do we all plan on staying in this forsaken prison!? Days, months, years! ETERNITY!?"
Everyone stopped what they were doing as they watched the scenes. Even the guards who were watching over the guards chose not to do anything to calm down the situation.
The man could only sigh in exaggeration. Giving the man a glare. "Just give up. There's no winning this fight against Tatsuya. And even if you try to escape this prison, all you're just doing is digging yourself a grave."
"He's right, Suzuka." Another man came behind Suzuka as he set a hand on his shoulders. "Just calm down or you're gonna get punished again."
"SHUT UP!" Suzuka swung his hand around and swatted the man away. He looked at everyone who was crowding around. "All of you…all of you are cowards! How can you all just stand like this without putting up a fight!? You're just wasting your life away in this god forsaken prison! Are you gonna let some greedy bastard control your life! DO YOU ALL WANT TO DIE HERE WITH REGRETS!?"
Everyone didn't say anything as they just stood there. Glancing at each other with nervous expressions. Unsure of what to say or even respond to Suzuka. Amongst the crowd, some were nervously looking back and forth between Suzuka and their plates. While others were utterly defeated and did not want to say or participate.
Hinata looked amongst the crowd as he could only grind his teeth. "You're kidding me…not a single soul is even responding to him or even fighting with him!"
His attention was captured by his partner Yuto who shook his head. "Don't."
"But-"
"I said, don't." He warned. "Read the room Hinata, no one is following him. And they're possibly doing that for a reason."
"SAY SOMETHING! ANYONE!" Suzuka's voice was on the verge of breaking. He was frantically looking at the crowd to see if anyone were to stand with him. But so far, no one was willing to stand with him. This only irritated him further. "COWARDS! EVERYONE OF YOU ARE GODDAMN COWARDS!"
"Suzuka-"
"IF NONE OF YOU ARE NOT GOING TO DO ANYTHING THEN FINE! I'LL DO IT! I'LL KILL TATSUYA MYSELF IN A DUEL!"
Everyone started to murmur. The moment he said the magic word.
"A…duel…" Hinata asked.
"It's a tradition."
Both Hinata and Yuto look to their left to find Junichi sitting on the chair with his arms resting on the back end and his feet spreaded out. Sitting next to him was Penny who gave them a friendly wave.
"Junichi…" Hinata said. "Have you heard of this duel before, this is the first time I've heard about it…"
"From what I gathered, you earn the right to freedom…that is…if you win against Tatsuya in a duel."
Yuto narrowed his eyes. "Has anyone won this fight…"
"No." Penny answered. "According to the information I've been gathering, not one single person has won a fight against Tatsuya. The conditions are…if you win against him in a duel, you're granted freedom. But if you lose…you earn yourself a ticket to execution for disobeying against Tatsuya."
Both Hinata and Yuto blinked at this.
"S-So…there's no good side to this…" Hinata asked.
"That's how things run in the immortal wolf world. Once you're under his rule or his domain, you find yourself stepping out of line and you earn yourself a one way ticket straight to hell."
"T-That's terrible…" Hinata trembled a little.
"To think about how the rules go here within the prison camp…no. Not just that, how he got away with almost everything is not too surprising."
"Tatsuya is a cold heartless bastard. He manipulates everyone with fear. Not one single person is willing to go up against…the immortal wolf." Junichi said with a growl before he looked back up at the scene. "I could go out and say that everyone is playing smart or not trying to go against Tatsuya…but the way none of these guys don't have any fighting spirit within them…it's a pitiful sight."
"TO HELL WITH ALL OF YOU!" Suzuka screamed. "WELL I'M NOT AFRAID! I'M NOT AFRAID OF SOME OLD BASTARD WHO THINKS HE'S THE RULER OVER OUR LIFE! IMMORTAL WOLF, MORE LIKE A DELUSIONAL MAN WHO ONLY SEES HIMSELF ABOVE EVERYONE ELSE! NOTHING BUT A LOW LIFE, THIRD-RATE SCUMBAG WHO-"
*BANG!*
Everyone stopped. Their eyes grew big, their pupils shrinking. Beads of sweat dripped against their bare skin. Suzuka stopped what he was saying in the midst of it all. Not daring himself to even turn around to find the source of the gunshot sound in the air.
"What are you doing…'' A dangerous venomous tone. "Turn around so I can see your face."
Suzuka felt his heart pounding a thousand miles per hour as he turned around. His heart nearly stopped when he found who was standing there was the devil himself.
In Tatsuya's hand, was a gun that was put down, but could still see the smoke coming out from the tip end. His red eyes shot right into Suzuka's eyes, piercing right into his very soul. Standing on his sides behind him were Hayakki, who was looking down at her feet with a scared expression. Homura standing next to her with her arm swung around her shoulders. And Izumi did not pay attention to Tatsuya but was standing close to Hayakki.
Two other people came in with equally terrified looks. One was a middle-aged bald man. Dressed elegantly with a tuxedo, dress shoes, black tie and a rose in his chest pocket.
Standing next to the terrified bald man was a young beautiful woman. Long brown hair and eyes, dressed in a skimpy cowboy outfit with the hat, white top and hugging shorts that outlined her rear end included. Cowering in fear, not wanting to look at the man.
Junichi looks at Tatsuya with a low growl. "Speak of the devil, here comes the all-mighty immortal wolf himself."
"It's really him…and behind him are-"
"The student council of Atsuhiko." Yuto finished. "As I figured, they're all in this."
Hinata blinked as his eyes stared at Hayakki. "Don't tell me that she was in on this as well…she lied to us and-"
"Oi. Both of you." Both Hinata and Yuto looked back at Junichi who remained calm in his seat. "Before jumping to conclusions. How about we sit back and watch the show…I want to see just what the hell my old friend was doing during my long absence."
Both of them blinked as they glanced at each other. Not wanting to waste time asking, they decided to watch the scene that is unfolding.
Tatsuya sheathed the gun in his pouch and looked at the terrified Suzuka with a glare. "No really, please do go on. What do you mean by all of that, dear sir?"
Suzuka was at a loss for words. All that could be formed out were utter croaks and catching of his own breath. His heart is not stopping from racing or threatening to come out of his chest.
"Well…what is it?" He warned once more.
Suzuka looks amongst the crowd who all looked the other way. Not paying any mind or attention to him. None wanted to help the poor unfortunate soul.
"I-I…T-Tatsuya…I-I was…" He stuttered.
Tatsuya took a step forward. Walking towards the man, his glare did not leave Suzuka. "I believe you were saying something about defeating me in a duel. Or that I was no more than a mere delusional man…or perhaps…"
He reached Suzuka, stopping at his side. His shoulders touch Suzuka, causing him to tremble in fear. "Something about me being a third-rate scumbag."
"N-No…y-you misunderstand…" Suzuka said his tone and manner completely changed. "W-What I was trying to say was…um…t-that you…um…a-a-are…a-are not…um…"
Tatsuya chuckled with an evil cool tone. "Look at you. Just now you were just rallying everyone up. Saying how they should band together and overthrow me."
"N-No…y-your wrong…I-I wouldn't…"
Tatsuya kept his gaze on him as he slowly started to walk in a circle, his gaze locked on Suzuka who stood there helplessly. "You think that you just waltz in here. Making a scene, telling everyone here to rally some pointless team effort on overthrowing me? Was that you just now?"
Suzuka was on the verge of sweating. As if someone poured a bucket of water on him. "N-No! You're wrong! I-It wasn't…I wasn't…"
"But it was." Tatsuya growled. He stopped in front of Suzuka towering over him as he sized him down with a single glare. "How dare you say such things to me. Especially behind my back."
"N-No…no…i-it wasn't like that…" Suzuka could only cower in fear. Shrinking ever so further down as Tatsuya glared at him down.
"Such a pathetic display. Then how about we settle this…in a duel."
"W-What…"
"A duel. You said it yourself. That you wanted to fight me in a duel…for your freedom of course."
Everyone started to murmur in whispers. Each of them is already predicting the outcome.
"He's a goner."
"Yeah, he's a dead man."
"Welp, he tried and failed."
Suzuka was already regretting his rash decision to fight Tatsuya. His eyes looked up at the man who was still sizing him. "A-A duel…"
"It was your idea, was it not? A simple duel to decide your fate." Tatsuya said before he grew a smirk. "Lucky for you, I'm feeling rather…generous today."
Everyone looked at the man with a baffled expression. Feeling generous? Him?
"H-Huh?"
Tatsuya simply stood back, giving Suzuka a good breathing room as he spread his arms wide open. Revealing his dark gray vest and white shirt to the prisoner. "I'll let you take the first hit."
"H-Huh? Wha?"
"Go on. Hit me. Punch me. Throw anything at me…that is…if you think that you can beat me." Tatsuya said with a grin.
The crowd stood back, giving the group some room for their fight. Poor Suzuka just stood there, facing Tatsuya who was waiting for the hit from him with his eyes closed. Accepting his fate probably?
Suzuka looks back down at his fist, feeling his heart racing against his chest. His breathing began to grow heavy, clenching his own hand. He took a deep breath to steady himself. His eyes shot open and took a running start towards the immortal wolf! Everyone watched with anticipation as Suzuka swung his arm wide open and aimed right at Tatsuya's stomach. With one powerful scream, he threw a powerful punch right into Tatsuya's stomach!
He threw one single punch at the horrible monster. Everyone around the scene were left flabbergasted and stunned by the action that Suzuka performed. And in front of the immortal wolf himself!?
…..
But Tatsuya didn't flinch. He didn't react. Nor did he even feel any pain at all.
Suzuka's heart almost stopped. He could feel his fist contacting Tatsuya's stomach. His eyes were looking dead straight at the stomach he aimed at. His thoughts were stopped…
"What in the world…his chest…why is his chest so strong…i-it's like it's made out of some materials!?"
"What? Is that it?" Tatsuya said with a low venomous tone.
Suzuka looked up at Tatsuya who slowly cracked his neck. Looking down at the terrified man who slowly retracted his fist away from his chest. Regretting his actions already.
"So sad, so disappointing. I thought you would've been more than just that."
Suzuka slowly started to hyperventilate. His heart raced non-stop. Tatsuya towered over him, a dangerous aura loomed over Tatsuya's body. Something in the form of a wolf, staring down at Suzuka. Causing the poor man to tremble in fear.
"I guess it's my turn now…" Tatsuya cracked his knuckles as his eyes aimed at his target. A dangerous glow illuminated from his eyes. "To kill you."
Suzuka stumbled backward and tried to run away. But found his neck strangled by a strong hand. Almost crushing his airpipes. He was lifted into the air, desperately trying to ease the choke hold Tatsuya had on him. His eyes scanned his surroundings as he could see the fear in the other inmates' eyes.
"What's wrong?" Tatsuya whispered into his ear. Suzuka could hear a growl from the man. "Life flashing before your eyes."
Suzuka tried to pry free from his grasp. But nothing could be done. He then tries to plead for help from the other inmates, but none of them wouldn't move or budge an inch. All were either too scared or were trying to ignore the scene.
"H-H-Help…h-help me…"
"What was that?" Tatsuya tightens his hold on the man. "I couldn't hear you…"
"P-Please…*ack*...h-help…"
Watching the scene from behind, Hayakki was gripping her sleeves, not wanting to look at the scene nor did she want to hear it. But it was all too hard to ignore. Homura held her embrace around Hayakki tighter, wincing at the painful scene, but was confused by Tatsuya's sudden strength.
Izumi was on a similar boat. Pondering to herself. "To be able to not feel pain and lift him up with ease…just what in the world happened to him during his trip?"
Kojiro was hugging the young woman who was trembling in fear.
"H-Help…h-help…"
Tatsuya chuckled with an almost rather manically tone style. "What a pathetic display. What happened to all that talk about you overthrowing me. All that energy that you had…where is it!?"
"I-I-I…p-..." Suzuka tried to desperately say something. But was finding it harder due to the lack of air. Feeling his own throat being restricted and not being able to breathe.
"Tell you what. I'll let you live…that is…if you apologize to me."
Suzuka could feel Tatsuya grip tighter on him. He coughed up blood. "ACK!"
The young woman holding Kojiro tightens her hold on Kojiro.
"TATSUYA STOP!"
"Say it."
"I-I-I-I-I…GAH!" Whatever Suzuka was about to say was interrupted when Tatsuya's grip grew tighter. Completely stopping his air flow.
"Speak up. I can't hear you~!"
Suzuka couldn't say anything. Nor do anything as he watched the other inmates not paying mind or doing anything to save him. He was a dead man walking…his vision slowly got blurred. His movement became less active. Feeling this was the end-
Suddenly Tatsuya entirely let go of him. Suzuka was dropped on the ground. Gasping for air, coughing and hacking. Once his senses finally came to him, he looked up to find another figure standing tall. Looking straight at Tatsuya with an equally dangerous glare of his own.
Everyone was surprised to see Junichi, his face right up in front of Tatsuya.
Hayakki, Homura, Izumi and even Kojiro and the young woman were generally surprised to see the old man taking a stand against the dangerous immortal wolf.
Tatsuya growled as he looked at the man's scarred eye. "If you value any puddle of life you still have…stay out of this, Junichi."
"Tatsuya…" Junichi said with a venomous tone. "Been a while since I've seen your ugly mug. Still a cold heartless bastard I see."
Tatsuya looks down at the struggling Suzuka who was still breathing barely. "This is more of me dealing with pests. Not that you would understand…"
"Dealing with pests…or is it just your so-called 'image' being threatened by one mere person."
Everyone began to gather in whispers.
"Did you hear that? This old man seriously got a death wish."
"Who the hell is this guy? He shouldn't be talking to Tatsuya like that if he really values his life."
"He's a goner. That's for damn sure."
Hinata and Yuto caught on to what everyone was saying about Junichi. But they were more interested in how Junichi was showing no fear.
"He has nothing to lose." Penny said, answering the two questions.
"What do you mean…oh." Hinata realized what she meant. "That's right…"
"He lost his family to Tatsuya." Yuto said. "So that explains it."
"Well that…" Penny gestured her eyes to the crowd that was watching the scene. "He's showing everyone how to stand up for themselves. Everyone in this prison lost hope, they have nothing going for them anymore. Nothing to fight for…but Junichi…he wants to reignite their fighting spirit."
Hinata and Yuto blinked. Letting penny words sink in, while they understand the intention…
"B-But will it work?" Hinata asked.
Penny could only shrug. "We can only watch and see for ourselves."
The scene was growing intense around Tatsuya and Junichi. Both of them were staring down at each other. Bringing forth a dangerous aura from them both.
"Still the arrogant old fossil you once were." Tatsuya growled as he eyed his appearance and attire. A smirk graced his lips. "But I can see the days haven't been treating you kindly. I'm surprised that a mere bug such as you is still alive and kicking."
"And I would've loved to enjoy my relaxing days…if it wasn't for your boys to cause so many troubles. And to hear that you're making a living by sucking dry off of Mr. Important," He said as he briefly glanced at the bald man. "I just know you were up to your old tricks again."
"It's called business. I'm a very busy person and I will not tolerate any more bugs interfering with my goals."
"Let me guess, you plan on expanding your reach so you can take full total control over Nemira." Junichi asked not to let his glare falter.
Tatsuya didn't respond as he just sighed to himself. He reeled back, running his hand through his hair and gained his composure. "As much as I would love to indulge in this little touching reunion…I have important business to attend to. And let's be honest Junichi, if you were to fight me now, your death would be admirable…but futile to say the least."
Junichi didn't say anything as he just glared at the yakuza.
Tatsuya turned around, not without some parting words. "He should consider himself lucky he lives to see another day, because if you hadn't interrupted me…I would've killed him where he lay."
Tatsuya then walks away, he stops near Hayakki and her friends. "You three, go ahead and make rounds of the camp. If there's anything out of the ordinary, you report back to me."
"Yes sir." All three of them said in synch.
Tatsuya then looks towards the bald man and the young woman who flinched under his gaze. "Kojiro…Scarlet. Both of you come with me. We have some important business to discuss."
"Y-Yes! Of course!" Kojiro said feeling pressured and terrified.
Scarlet couldn't look into Tatsuya's eyes. She remained looking at her feet while holding onto Kojiro's arm. She could feel Tatsuya's presence walking past them as they both followed after him. Leaving the scene.
Junichi could only let out a breath of exaggeration. His one eye looks down at his feet, looking at the barely breathing Suzuka still on the ground.
"Oh boy," Junichi said. "Oi. Hinata. Yuto. Think you can take this guy over to the infirmary."
"H-Huh! Y-Yeah." Hinata said.
Both Hinata and Yuto got up from their seats and ran over to the injured man. Hinata carefully lifted him up from the floor with Yuto supporting the other side of his body. With them both working together, they made their way through the crowd who were still left mummering in whispers.
"OI!" Everyone flinched at the sound of Hayakki's voice. "Why are you all still standing around! Come on, the show's over! Go back to your own things."
Everyone did as they were told. Trying their best not to remember what they witnessed.
*SLAP!*
Junichi was slapped aside by an angry Penny. "Hey, what was that for?"
"You big dummy! What kind of crazy stunt was that!? You could've gotten yourself killed!"
Junichi rolled his eyes with a smirk. "I'm alive, aren't I?"
"Ugh. You can be so reckless for someone your age."
"I'll say."
Both turn to see Hayakki walking towards them, her particularly glaring at Tatsuya. Following behind her was Homura and Izumi who also stared at the old man.
"Well, if it isn't the princess herself. Enjoyed the show?" Junichi said.
Hayakki rolled her eyes. "Honestly, I thought you would enjoy a good leisurely life here in prison and yet here you are trying to pick a fight with my father."
"Hey, somebody got to show him a thing or two. Not that anyone here isn't going to stand up for themselves…" Junichi opens one eye and scans the room. "Well…it looks like Tatsuya got a good grip on these guys mentally. So it shouldn't be too surprising."
Hayakki forced herself from ever looking at the crowd. "Going against your father's will is like going to your funeral. Once you make your decision…it's over."
"Um. Hello! Are we not gonna talk about how crazy fuckin strong Tatsuya was during the whole fiasco," Homura said bringing the attention on her. "I mean, the guy was literally almost gonna kill him by strangling his neck or something!"
Izumi brought her hand to her chin. "I must admit, I know Sir Tatsuya does possess strength and is skilled in combat…but to see him single-handedly lifting Suzuka up with no problem and to the point of squeezing his neck restricting airflow…it is rather concerning."
Hayakki bit her lip as she gripped her bare arm. "Just looking at him trying to kill him…I always knew my father was crazy…but from what I just witnessed…he is not even a human anymore."
Junichi blinks as he looks at the girl in front of him, pondering his thoughts. "I knew right when we first met, there was a disconnect between Tatsuya and Hayakki…but to see what I just witnessed and looking at her…it's clear that this little miss here is nowhere near his father's level."
Hayakki sighs to herself. "But there's nothing to help with that. I'm not sure what happened during his trip to Kyoto…but something changed him. He's more…delusional sort of say."
Penny raised a brow. "You mentioned that he went on a trip to Kyoto, what did he go there for?"
Izumi raised her hand to answer. "We're not entirely sure what he went there for…but the moment he came back. It's clear something occurred that caused this change of behavior."
Junichi could only narrow his eyes. "I see…well damn. There's nothing much to go on from there…"
Hayakki took a step forward as she glared at the old man. Her arms crossed under her chest. "So, you still think you can beat my father after witnessing what you just saw?"
Junichi didn't really return the glare, but gave her just a chill expression. "What, you expect me to back down and beg for mercy."
Hayakki's face was completely baffled at that moment. Was she hearing this right? Homura and Izumi were also baffled by this.
"If you think for a moment that I'm throwing in the towel, I ain't going anywhere Princess. Your father caused a lot of trouble for these good folks. Ruined my home, killed my friends and my family. You think I'm gonna walk out with my tail between my legs? Forget about it."
Hayakki bit her lip as she took another step closer to the man. Her face pushed up towards his face. "The hell is your problem, you old fart! What's with you trying to be a hero! This is the immortal wolf we're talking about here! He's not some common third-rate scumbag! He's dangerous and will kill you if you get out of line!"
Izumi and Homura were taken aback by her outburst. Izumi however, was interested in Junichi's reaction or his reply. From his expression, it shows that he shows no fear nor anger.
"Like I said, your father, the immortal wolf. Have gone way too far with his actions. And it's only going to get worse from here," Junichi said with a calm tone. "He took things away from these good folks, including me. Just because he's some sort of superman, that ain't gonna scare me."
Hayakki growled a little. Her face pushed up against his. "YOU HAVE A FRICKEN SCREW LOOSE OR SOMETHING!?"
Everyone couldn't help but stop and look at the scene. From afar, Yuto and Hinata just came back from the infirmary and came to meet with Junichi but came in time to find Hayakki yelling at Junichi.
"DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND! YOU CAN'T WIN AGAINST TATSUYA! ARE YOU LITERALLY TRYING TO DIE THIS EARLY!? JUST STOP GIVE UP! IT'S OVER!" Hayakki said with small tears forming in eyes.
Junichi didn't say anything as he just looked at the girl with a pondering thought. Penny held a worried look between the two. Meanwhile Homura and Izumi held a sympathetic expression towards the girl.
It wasn't long before Junichi answered. "You're scared of your old man?"
Hayakki was taken back by the comment. Biting her lips with a faint blush. "I-I don't know what you're talking about?"
"Right. I bet you do. I'm not sure what the history between you and Tatsuya is and I'm not gonna pretend I know what it is. But I get one thing though, you're scared of me being killed by your father."
"Ugh! Why the hell am I worrying about you!? I'm just clearly telling you that going against my father is nothing but a death wish. So if you care for everyone here and value your own life, just stop it already."
Junichi sighs to himself with a smile. "Sure, you go and say that. But me, I'm sticking to my guts. Sure, your father may not be human anymore, but I'm not gonna stop. Not now. Not ever. Someone here gotta stand up to your father and I will gladly be that one."
Hayakki exhaled through her nose as she just glared at the man. Calming down a little. "H-How…how are you not afraid?"
Junichi smiled softly. "You may be right, I may just die…but at least I'll die by not just doing something about it…but for the sake of all the good folks who just want to live a peaceful life. You could say that's why I'm not afraid."
Hayakki just blinked at the old man. Unsure of what or how to even formulate an answer. Unknowest to them, all the prisoners held similar expressions. Watching the two interactions, everyone's eyes widened with curiosity and were awe struck.
Hayakki sighed to herself with a faint blush. "Honestly…I just don't get you."
Junichi could only ruffle her hair, much to her baffled expression. "You'll get it in time. I would like to continue our conversation, but I have other things to do. See you around, Princess."
Junichi said as he gestured to Penny to follow after him. Leaving a stunned Hayakki and her two baffled friends behind with complicated thoughts.
"Geez, still a weird geezer." Homura said. "But he does have guts, I'll give him that."
"A strange individual," Izumi pushed her glasses. "But rather interesting."
Hayakki didn't say anything as she just looked at the back of the old man. She blinked several times as she watched him going further away from them. Hayakki bit her lips, and before she knew it, she ran towards the old man. Running past Penny, she grabs the back of the man's uniform. Stopping him in his tracks. Turning his head over his shoulder and looking at her.
Hayakki didn't say anything for a good second. Trying to find something to say before she found it. "Am I…do you think I can escape?"
"Huh?" Junichi asked.
Hayakki lifted her head, staring at him with a conflicted expression. "Do you think I can escape and find my own happiness…"
From a good distance, Homura and Izumi shared sympathetic glances before looking back at Hayakki who was waiting for an answer.
Junichi blinked, just staring at the girl who held her stare at the man. "As I thought…she really is just a pup who is misguided in life. Desperately trying to escape from her father's grasp…"
Junichi sighs to himself as he rubs the back of his head. "Sorry, don't think I should be the one answering you that question…I think only you and you alone should find that answer."
Hayakki bit her lips, feeling a little frustrated. "T-Then…what if you did something horrible and you can't turn back time and change that. You're forever locked on a path that was forced on you…then what…what do you do then?"
Junichi could only stare at her once more. He answered. "Hate to say it Princess, but if you did something terrible. There's no changing that. We can't undo what you have done and it forever becomes a mark on your history."
Hayakki's eyes widened. Her lips quivered. She hesitantly let go of his sleeves feeling dejected from his answer. However, she felt her own hand being grasped once more. She flinched as she looked up at the old man who returned a smile.
"But just because you committed a crime. Shouldn't define who you are. There's always room for redemption. It may be hard, but it's definitely not impossible. All it takes is just that leap of faith and you guide yourself from there onward."
Junichi said as he let go of her and walked away with a smiling Penny following behind. Hayakki watched the back of him with her expression lighten up.
"Are you okay, Milady?" Izumi asked as she leaned forward, looking at Hayakki.
Homura quickly rushed to her side and settled her hand on her back.
Hayakki shook her head as she used her finger to wipe her eyes. "I-I'm fine…just a little tired that's all."
Izumi blinked as she stood back up, staring at Hayakki. "I take it you got your answer…"
Hayakki blinked as she looked down. Letting Junichi's words sink in. A small smile graced her lips. "Y-You could say that…"
-Within the Office-
"S-So…what is it that you want…T-Tatsuya?" Kojiro asked.
Inside the office, both Kojiro and Scarlet were seated on the chair, trembling in their shoes. Poor Scarlet was trying her best to remain calm in front of Tatsuya's presence.
Meanwhile Tatsuya was pacing back and forth behind the square desk and a white board behind them. The man hummed to himself before he answered.
"Kojiro…by this month, students will be taking their finals, correct?"
Kojiro nodded. "Y-Yes, I believe so."
"Then listen very carefully. By this month before summer vacation…we will put the plan into motion of expanding our grasp on Nemira."
"H-Huh?" Kojiro said, sweating bullets. "W-What do you mean?"
"Circumstances have changed. I was planning on laying low and expanding my grasp on Nemira little-by-little. But…with the way things have been going, it seems we need to move forward." He said with a little annoyance in his tone.
Kojiro swallowed his fear. "D-Did something happen?"
Tatsuya could only growl as he narrowed his red eyes. Only scaring Scarlet and Kojiro. "It seems my incompetent daughter hasn't only caused problems for me, but now that said 'problem' could be a threat to the sleeping wolves existence if this gets out…"
"W-Whatever do you mean? I-In case you've forgotten you have complete control over the law enforcement and even the government. They're all loyal to you." Kojiro said, trying to calm Tatsuya down.
He eyed the bald man with a glare. "Even so, I only manage to escape with the help of your resources. But even that has its limits. If the secret is to get out about Yoshimiya's death, the local policeman and even the military will not move in to help. Do you understand?"
Kojiro begins to hyperventilate. "O-Of course! But if I may ask! U-Um…would this happen to relate to the incident with the student c-council president back at Atsuhiko?"
"Exactly. Instead of killing the boy, my daughter decided to let him go free and start a new life. But little did she know that letting that boy go…was a terrible decision. Now I believe that the two investigative reporters I sent you were the two who were snooping around about Yoshimiya's death. The information you reported to me was correct, right?"
"Y-Yes! They said that they've also been in contact with Yoshimiya's mother, known as Miyuki…"
"So it's true then…" Tatsuya growled in frustration. "If only she had killed the boy, then none of this wouldn't happened. Was there anyone else involved?"
Kojiro thought for a moment, bringing a finger to his chin. "No…not that I know of."
"It better be true. Because if it isn't…well, you know what will happen."
Kojiro was holding onto Scarlet's hand. Feeling her trembling, not wanting to be here anymore. But he tried his best to stay close and make sure she was safe from his wrath.
However, Tatsuya ran his hand through his hair and formed a small smile. "Luckily I managed to make some measurements. I took care of their boss, Obushi and now he's working with us. Having Planet Orbit in our hands could aid us in the long run. And while I was gone…I came up with a simple solution to deal with our little problem right off the bat."
"Y-You have…"
"That's right." He reached in his jacket and brought out a file. Setting it on the desk, he opens it up and reveals to the two what he had in mind. "It's a simple two phase plan."
Kojiro and Scarlet look at the paper and the photos he had lying around. There were a total of two photos. One was a picture of Hachimitsu academy as a whole. The other was a picture of Miyuki out walking around in the city.
Kojiro grew uneasy. "W-What is this?"
"It's there in form is it? Let me run you through the phases first. Phase one is to eliminate the students of Hachimitsu."
Both Kojiro and Scarlet held terrified looks on their faces. "WHAT!?"
"Why so surprised? I did say this was the plan."
"B-But to eliminate the students! As in kill them!? H-Have you gone mad!?"
Tatsuya only growled in frustration. "Let me run this by you Kojiro. If Matsuri had told someone like Miyuki, there's no telling that he may have also told the others as well. Think about it, if we just went there and killed the boy, it would only lead them straight to us. It would only make sense to kill off ANYONE who knows."
"B-But…this is complete genocide! You can't-"
*BANG!*
"EEEEEEK!"
Kojiro's blood ran cold as he felt his cheeks grazed. Blood leaked out of the cut as he stared at the man who held his gun out. Angrily looking at the bald man with a disapproving look. "Don't you dare step out of line. Kojiro."
"I-I-I'm sorry…" He said as he slowly sat back down next to the terrified Scarlet.
Tatsuya then looks down at the man with a glare. Sheathing his gun. "Now then…our plan is simple. We take over Hachimitsu and keep them silent for the moment. But before that, we need to take out the one who is in charge of the school. That being Usano Kurihara."
"I-I see…b-but how about Miyuki? What are you going to do to her?"
"She will be simple to deal with. I'll just send one of my men to kill her. And with Obushi on my side and both the journalist out of the way. I know, I'll have Jack kill her." Tatsuya said as he laughed a little to himself.
Scarlet tried her best not to get sick from hearing his plan. It was all just too sickening to hear. Instead her focus was on the photos of the targets that needed to be out of the picture. Biting her lips, she felt sorry for these folks.
It wasn't long before her eyes wandered over to one hidden photo under Hachimitsu photo. Cursious, she reached out for it and looked at it with her own eyes. It was then…her heart immediately stopped. Not paying attention to the conversation between Kojiro and Tatsuya.
"I just…this doesn't feel right…" Kojiro said.
"It is all necessary to keep them from finding out. And the sleeping wolves' identity under wraps."
"B-But…if you're going around killing them. Won't that just put a big target over your head."
"I'm sorry. Who's the one making the plans? Is it you?" He growled at the bald man. "By all means, please speak, I'm dying to hear your answer."
Kojiro flinched under his stare. "N-No sir. I'm sorry. U-Um…s-so…what about phase two of the plan?"
Tatsuya smiled. "Besides, trying to sneak around in the shadows is completely out the window by this point. Once phase one is completed. We move forward from there. We take over the Nemira and take over the city and onward."
Kojiro was worried. "W-What do you mean?"
Scarlet stopped looking at the photo and looked up at the insane man, going by what Kojiro said, there was something off about Tatsuya.
"Well, if you really want to know, the business that I've spoken with during my trip will give us full support. To aid the sleeping wolves in our conquest for complete control."
Kojiro was not liking how this was going. "Wh-What do you mean? Helping us? As if he's aware of your business?"
"Of course. To be honest, I thought he was a little…skeptical at first…but after showing me his…amazing project. I couldn't let this opportunity slide."
Kojiro blinked as he scanned Tatsuya's body, remembering how he almost killed one of his inmates. "Hold on…you saying that…he did something to your body?"
Tatsuya smiled maliciously. "Well spotted. He calls it, 'project celestia'. He makes artificial bodies for people to use. Altering their very being. People would have their whole 'souls' as he calls it and be transferred over to an artificial body. Once it is completed, their body goes through changes, they can live longer, their strengths are completely altered. Making them almost…superhumans. Or in this case, demi-gods."
"D-Demi-gods…i-it's unbelievable. Gods or superpower…whatever. T-There's no such thing!" Kojiro said with a conflicted expression.
"I didn't believe it either. But now look at me. I'm stronger, faster, anyone who comes near the immortal wolf…will see nothing but their grave." He said with a smile widening. He shook his head. "But of course, this body does have a limit, so I can't go around using it all that I want. But in the end, I am completely unstoppable."
"I see…" Kojiro let the words sink in before shaking his head, looking at Tatsuya. "I-I assume you wish to take the plan into motion now?"
"Not yet. If I recall, the school will be entering its final exam and after that, it will be summer break, right?"
"Y-Yes…"
"Before the summer, we will put the plan into motion. Once we kidnap Usano and hide him away where no one can hear him.
Scarlet nervously raised her hand to gain their attention. "U-Um…I-I was wondering about the p-phase one. Y-You said our targets are Hachimitsu and Miyuki?"
"That is right."
Scarlet bit her lip as she picked up the photo and showed it to Tatsuya with an angry glare. "E-Even your own daughter."
…..
The room was silent. Kojiro's eyes nearly bugged out. Looking at the photo and back at Tatsuya who only looked at the photo with his usual expression.
"Y-You…you plan on…k-killing your own daughter. Your flesh and blood? W-Why?" She asked almost on the verge of tears.
"The sleeping wolves will not tolerate any more failures. I have had my patience with her and it only proves that she is incompetent at doing the most simple job. It was her own fault that is the reason why we have to go this far through great lengths to maintain our grasp."
*SLAM!*
"BUT SHE'S YOUR DAUGHTER!"
"SHE'S A FAILURE!" Tatsuya yelled back with a demonic voice. Causing Scarlet to back down and Kojiro to run to her aid. "I should've gotten rid of her a long time ago. I tried to teach that girl to be a yakuza and to be the next leader of the sleeping wolves! Carry out our legacy…but no…she's just like her mother. Nothing but a waste. She is to be eliminated along with the others. The sleeping wolves…will not accept a failure like her. I will continue the legacy myself."
Kojiro could only look onward with a horrid expression. "Y-You're a monster…"
"No. I am…the immortal wolf. And you two…"
He practically teleported in front of the two. Causing them to jump and fall on their chairs. Forcing themselves to look up at the man who glared at them with his red glowing eyes. Scarlet began to hyperventilate as she tried to hold onto while Kojiro could only look onward with a terrified expression.
"Will follow my every command. If you value your life."
"Y-Yes…"
"I can't hear you."
"Y-Yes…i-immortal wolf."
Tatsuya's lips slowly grew into a smile. His eyes grew wide, his red glowing eyes shrunk as he began to laugh menacingly. It soon then slowly morphed into manically as he used the desk to support himself from falling. His laugh carried throughout the room, poor Scarlet and Kojiro were holding each other for emotional support.
Unknowest to the man, standing beside the entrance against the wall, outside of the room. Hayakki, Izumi and Homura stood where they could hear the conversation. Izumi and Homura held disgusted looks on their faces. Homura was cracking her knuckles as if she was ready to punch someone. Izumi stood there with her hands crossed under her chest with a glare.
And Hayakki…clenched her fist down. Drawing her own blood out from fist. Her sharp teeth clenched against each other. Her blood was boiling rage as she could only listen to the man's laughter, who is her father…
Or in this case…was her father…
-Omake- [Meiko's Fear]
Etsuko was walking down the hall humming to herself a merryling tune with a smile on her face. As she was continuing her walk, she stopped to spot two familiar figures. One with blonde bob cut hair and the other with a familiar bun on top of her gray hair.
"HI MEIKO~! HI HANA~!"
Meiko jumped a little at the noise while Hana looked over her shoulders spotting the girl. "Hey Etsuko."
The small first year runs up to them both with a smile. But before she was about to say anything, she leaned forward and noticed Meiko had a serious expression on her face. But the way her body shook, shows that it wasn't just a brave face she was putting on.
"Um…Meiko? You alright?"
"O-Of course…" Meiko said with a bit of a stutter.
Hana leaned forward near Etsuko. "She signed up to donate some blood."
"Ooh…so she's afraid of needles."
"NO I'M NOT!" Meiko screamed, surprising them both. She quickly cleared her throat. "A-Anyways, I have volunteered to donate blood. I-I'm just…well…trying to gather the courage before I enter."
"So you're scared." Etsuko said with a snicker.
"N-NO I'M NOT!"
"Come on, Meiko. There's nothing to be afraid of. It's just a simple blood donation. Plus, the shot is not even that bad. You'll just feel a little pinch." Hana trying to calm Meiko down.
"Yeah, there's nothing to be afraid of. Just pretend you're donating your blood to save Matsuri."
Meiko fiercely blushed. "D-Don't use Matsuri as motivation for me! Because it will actually work!"
Meiko sighs to herself as she runs her hand through her hair. Taking a deep breath before looking at the two. "Okay…I'll do it."
"I'll be there right with you Meiko." Hana said with an encouraging voice.
"So will I!" Etsuko said as she raised her hands.
Meiko nodded as she reached for the door.
Opening the door. She stood at the entrance of the doorway with an attempted stone expression. With Etsuko and Hana standing behind her.
The doctor simply just sat on the chair, causally reacting to Meiko's sudden dramatic entrance. "Are you next?"
"Y-Yes! Yes I am!" Meiko stuttered.
"Alright then, please sit down." The doctor gestured her to sit.
To which Meiko tried to do. However, as she was about to sit down on the stool, she found herself unable to go any further to lower herself. Meiko grunted as she lay down both of her hands on her knees, trying her best to push herself down.
"Damn it! Move!" Meiko said to herself.
Hana could sighs to herself with Etsuko laughing in the background. Hana walked over to help her friend out. With a bit of struggling, she managed to get Meiko to sit down. Meiko rolled up her sleeves and set her arm down on top of the small pillow on the table.
"Please tie this on her arm." The doctor handed the band to Hana.
Hana nodded as she proceeded to tie the ribbon around her arm. "Come on Meiko…please calm down."
"I'm as calm as I'll ever be." Meiko said.
Hana could only look at her with a blank look. "You look more like you're being prepared for battle."
Meanwhile Etsuko was near them, snickering to herself how serious and frightened Meiko was towards this whole ordeal.
As the nurse brought in the equipment, a needle and a small bottle. Meiko begins to sweat. "Okay, I'll take a sample of your blood."
Meiko whimpered a little. Her sweat intensified.
"Meiko come on, calm down will ya?"
"I…I can't…" Was all she could say as the needle contacted the skin. "I can't calm down! I can't calm down!"
Before she could react, she flinched again when she felt another soft touch on her side. She looks to see Etsuko with a sympathetic smile. "Meiko. Close your eyes."
"H-How is closing my eyes gonna-"
"Shh. Close your eyes."
Meiko groaned but closed her eyes.
"Now…imagine yourself in a landscape." Etsuko said as she watched Meiko take a deep breath. "You're surrounded by beautiful flowers in the middle of a meadow. The sun is warming against your skin. The cool breeze splashing against your face. No threats, no worries."
Hana could only blink as she looked between the small first year and Meiko. Seeing her friend at ease as the doctor is taking his time. Injecting the needle into Meiko's skin without her making a fuss.
"And look. In the distance, Matsuri is bringing you a banquet of flowers," Etsuko said with a soft tone. Meiko blushing in a trance. "He comes over with his bright smile, carrying a bunch of pretty flowers for you. He coming closer…closer…and-"
Etsuko suddenly stops. "Wait. What is that? What is that in the sky coming towards you!"
"W-What is it!?" Meiko asked, panicking.
Hana raised a brow. "What are you-"
"Okay. I'm doing it." Said the doctor as he began to extract the blood from Meiko's arm.
"Is it a bird!? A plane!? A rocket!? It's uh-OH NO! IT CAN'T BE! IT'S A GIANT ASS NEEDLE COMING SUCK YOU DRY!"
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" Meiko screamed as her sweat exploded everywhere.
"AIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEE!" Hana screamed.
Walking down the hall. Both Hana and Etsuko were carrying a struggling Meiko who was limping along the way. All three of them drenched in sweat, with Meiko's jacket half way down and her bangs messed up.
Hana nervously smiled at her friend. "Cheer up Meiko, it wasn't THAT bad."
"It was brutal…"
"Hana's right. At least you made it halfway through…until the end at least."
"NO THANKS TO YOU!" Both Hana and Meiko yelled in sync.
"My bad~. Teehee."
"DON'T GO ACTING CUTE!"
…..
And that's a wrap! Tatsuya is back with a new toy and weapon to obtain his goal of conquest across Japan. But his first order of business is to capture control of Hachimitsu and eliminate the targets who know of Yoshimiya's death and the existence of the sleeping wolves. Insane with power, he will stop at nothing to obtain complete control. A storm is brewing and coming full force in the brand new story arc, "Enter the Sleeping Wolves"...
We are back and in full force. We enter the final saga of the story. Move over USC and Kate. A bigger threat has come to play and will shake the grounds of Hachimitsu. This arc I have been waiting for the most honesty in my opinion. I wanted to spice things up with not only the sleeping wolves being dangerous but with an extra element to keep the stakes high and just off the wall insane.
To address the glaring pink elephant in the room, I have added a bit of a crossover with my original story project Wonderful World of Gods, into this story. Tatsuya is using an artificial mechanical body (Karakuri) being imbued with 'mythical powers' that greatly enhances his strengths, speed and immunity. I was on the fence on whether or not I should go with this, but I came to realize that Prison School is really just an insane series to begin with regardless. So I went ahead and added some 'supernatural elements' to the story. Making Tatsuya a bigger threat than he already was and it's just gonna get more challenging from there.
Don't worry though, none of my characters from my own story will not appear in this one. This is just an idea of bringing in elements into Hitoyoshi and the Prison School. But I would like to apologize for introducing this all of a sudden. I could've slowly shown some bits and pieces of supernatural elements existing in this story.
And in case you've guys forgotten, Hinata and Yuto were the two investigative reporters from chapter 44. They were out of commission at the point of chapter 47 and didn't appear throughout. They are back and alive, but don't worry, they will play their part in the coming future. So will Junichi and plenty of other characters who will partake in future chapters to come. So yeah, look forward to seeing what I have in store.
Also, Hayakki's character will be making progress of her own. I wanted to show bit-by-bit why her character is the way we see her now. Her relationship with her father shows she is terrified of him but also shows she used to be friends with Yoshimiya. But something happened between them. It's not much of a mystery, but I'll leave the puzzle pieces for you to pick up and put together for yourself to see what the real story is behind the Yoshimiya case.
By the way, I hope you guys enjoyed the omake for this chapter. That was based off of chapter 4 of the spin off 'Fukukaichou Ganbaru' (Hardworking Vice President).
On another note, the next update will be for Maiden Heart Crusader. Since that story will be ending real soon, I want to make that my main priority next.
Thank you again for supporting this story. We are basically in the home stretch by this point. But we still have some chapters to go before we are officially done with the story. And with me on summer break, this could be my perfect opportunity to make more chapters. But don't take my words for it.
This story and Maiden Heart Crusader are available on both Fanfic and A03 (archive of our own). As usual, leave feedback for the story, stay safe and I will see you all in the next chapter.
See you later!
