An alarm on a phone rings and Marinette wakes up and turns it off. She then looks at the clocks and screams. She gets up, gets dressed and grabs her school bag and runs downstairs grabs a piece of toast with grape jam on it. "Bye mom, bye dad!" Marinette said as she exited the her apartment building.
Marinette is running to school with a piece of toast in her mouth and eats it. She runs across the streets, even before traffic starts and dodged a red car that nearly hits Marinette. "Whoa!"
Marinette is running to school but she didn't see a truck coming towards her, Marinette screams, but then something yanks her out of the way and she lands on the other side of the street. "Are you alright?" A woman's voice asked. Marnette looks up and sees a woman with fair skin, long black hair that reaches her shoulders. Wearing a pair of Ladybug earrings, wearing red skintight tank top with black spots on them, with with a red battle skirt with black spot on them, red knee high boots and elbow length gloves with back spots, and finally a red mask over her eyes with five black spots on it.
"Ladybug?" Marinette asked as she gets back up.
"The one and only. Try and be careful before you cross the streets." Ladybug said.
"I'm sorry. I'm running late for school." Marinette said.
"Oh shoot." Ladybug said. "If you want, I can get drop you off at your school?"
"Thanks, but I don't want to bother you." Marinette said. "Big fan of your work, by the way."
"It's always a pleasure to meet a fan of mine." Ladybug said. "That offer still stands on that lift to school."
"Oh thanks but no thanks. I can make it on my own." Marinette said as she ran off. "Thanks for saving me!"
"Don't mention it." Ladybug said as she watches Marinette running off. "Could she be the one?"
Marinette runs towards the high school and entered the front door, she walks towards her classroom. "Ms. Dupain-Cheng." Marinette turned around and sees a stout man with grey sideburns and beard, a light grey mustache, bald on top of his head. Wearing a brown dress jacket with a chest pocket over a yellow dress shirt with a white hue, a light chestnut brown necktie worn on his collar, dark vermilion, almost dark grayish-brown/dark grayish-tangelo dress pants, and grayish tangelo loafers with white strips above the tips of his toes. "You're late."
"I'm sorry Principal Damocles. I was running late and Ladybug saved me from being run over." Marinette explained.
"This is the second time you were late young lady." Mr. Damocles replied. "However, I will give you a free pass, it wouldn't be right to give you detention after nearly got run over. Now I suggest you get to class."
"Yes sir." Marinette said as she walked off towards her classroom.
Later that day in the cafeteria, Marinette is about to eat her lunch until her best friend Alya Césaire sits next to her. "Hey girl." Alya greeted her. "Did you see my post on the Ladyblog?"
"Oh yeah, I saw it. Ladybug stopped some art thieves at the Louvre." Marinette said.
"Yeah and she even made sure the Mona Lisa didn't get damaged." Alya said.
"She's pretty cool." Marinette said. "I wish I had her confidence. Plus maybe help her update her outfit."
"I mean yeah, she had that same outfit since we were little." Alya said.
"I have some designs to show her." Marinette said right before she spots a certain someone sitting down at another table. It was Adrien Agreste and his best friend Nino Lahiffe sitting at another table.
"So is today the day you're going to talk to Adrien?" Alya asked with a sly smile.
"Wha what?" Marinette asked. "I can't do that. What am I suppose to say?"
"How about Hi." Alya chuckled. "Just go talk to him."
"I can't. I'm gonna make a fool out of myself." Marinette said.
"Look. Just go talk to him, I'm sure it will all be fine." Alya said.
"If you say so." Marinette sighed in defeat as she gets up from her seat and walks towards Adrien and Niyo's table. "I can do this. I can do this." She said to herself not noticing a puddle and when she slips on the puddle she fumbles and landed face first in trash can. The trash can rolled across the cafeteria and went down a flight of stairs, once the garbage can reaches the bottom of the stairs, the garbage can lands on the side.
Marinette gets out of the trash can covered in half eaten food as she gets back up. She looks around and everyone has their phones out and laughs at her. Marinette groans and facepalmed without knowing that there was spaghetti and tomato sauce in her right hand.
Sometime after school, Marinette and Alya are at Alya's apartment, while Marinette is using Alya's shower to clean herself from trash smell. Marinette exits the bathroom wearing a red robe and white towel wrapped around her head.
"How's your shower?" Alya asked.
"I got some peas and corns out, even some pasta." Marinate said.
"I hate to say it, but you're trending on social media." Alya said.
"Wait what?!" Marinette exclaimed as she grabbed Alya's phone and sees that she's bee remixed, memed, even trending on Tik Tok. "How?!" Marinette questioned in rage until she sees a familiar face, a blonde fair skinned teenager dressed in yellow and white.
"That has got to be the most unlucky student ho ever lived." Chloe laughed until the video ends.
"I'm going to kill her." Marinette replied with her teeth clenched in anger while squeezing her grip on Alya's phone.
"Easy Marinette." Alya said as she grabbed her phone right before Marinette crushes her own phone. "We'll report it and it'll be taken down."
"That's beside the point. Chloe is going to get off the hook Scott free because she's the Mayor's daughter." Marinette said as she began to clam down. "I went from being saved by Ladybug this morning o being unlucky trash rider."
"You were saved by Ladybug!? Why did you tell me?!" Alya asked.
"Well I was running late and I had other things on my mind." Marinette said.
"Do you think you have time for an interview?" Alya asked.
"Yeah I have time." Marinette said. "Maybe that can cheer me up. But after this interview I need to head on home."
"That's the spirit." Alya smiled as she took out her phone. "Tell me everything."
Sometime later, Marinette exited Alya's apartment building and sees that it's nighttime. "Oh no, my parents are going to kill me." Marniette said as she began to run home. But after several steps later, she hears something coming down an alleyway, she even heard voices coming down there. "Ladybug?"
Marinette followed the source of the sound and into an abandoned building and see looks through an open window and sees Ladybug laying against the wall with blood coming out her mouth and nose, broken right arm and left leg, with shards of glass in her chest, breasts and left shoulder. Marinette gasped at the sight of her idol badly damaged.
"Hey you." Ladybug said with a weak tone in her voice. "Come here." Marinette climbs through the window, but fell down on the floor. But she quickly recovered and approached Ladybug.
"Do you need medical attention? I can call for help." Marinette asked.
"No. Listen to me, I'm not going to make it." Ladybug groaned in pain.
"No. You'll make it, I can get you to a hospital." Marinette said with tears begin to form in her eyes.
"There's no time. Listen to me, I'm not going to make it. My time is up, but I want you to take the mantle of Ladybug." Ladybug said.
"I can't be you! I'm not as great as you. I'm no hero." Marinette said as her voice was cracking up in sadness.
"Listen to me. The Ladybug mantle has been passed from warrior to warrior." Ladybug explained. "But they were worthy, I believe you are worthy of the mantle."
"I'm not going to let you die damn it!" Marinette cried out.
"Quiet!" Ladybug groaned in pain. They both hear footsteps coming towards them. "Spots off." Ladybug said right when a pink sparkle line covered Ladybug removing her outfit, with her outfit is a brown sweater, black pants,and black shoes. She then quickly removed a pair of earrings and held them out to Marinette. "Take my earrings, to turn into Ladybug say spots on."
Marinette was hesitant to grab the earrings, but she grabbed them from the woman's hands and placed them in her pocket. "Is that what I need to do? Miss?" Marinette asked.
"My name is Kate. Kate Stevens. There are other Miraculous, I hid them in a safe location. Only she in the earrings knows the Mircale box's location, but it's hidden in darkness." Kate groaned in pain.
"Who?" Marinette asked.
"No time to explain Hawk Moth is coming. Fly you fool." Kate replied.
Marinette looks out the doorway and sees a shadow coming this way, so Marinette exits the same window she came in and peaked and sees an adult man wearing a a high dark purple dress shirt without a collar, over which he wore a darker purple jacket with a black butterfly-shaped lap, with a Butterfly brooch on the Center of his chest, wearing dark purple dress pants, black gloves and black shoes and a silver cowl over his head, wielding a dark purple cane with a purple gem in his hands.
"Hawk Moth." Kate growled but she coughed up blood.
"Where is Ladybug? Unless, you're Ladybug. I recognized the wounds and glass shards." Hawk Moth said.
"Yeah, I'm Ladybug." Kate replied.
"Where is the Miracle Box?" Hawk Moth asked with a growl.
"I hid it in darkness. Only my successor knows its location." Kate said. "That secret dies with me."
"I hate to get this suit dirty. But I see no use for you anymore." Hawk Moth said as he began to beat up Kate with his cane. Marinate could only watch in horror as Hawk Moth was beating up Kate with his cane to a bloody pulp. Marinette couldn't gasped so she had to cover her mouth and with a final strike Kate was killed on site.
Marinette began to sneak away from the scene, until she bumped into a trash can. "What was that?" Hawk Moth asked as he looked outside and sees no one is outside.
Marinette was running as fast her legs a carry her until she reaches her family bakery/home. She enters the bakery where she sees her parents with concern looks on their faces.
"Marinette? Where have you been?" Tom asked.
"We were worried sick about you." Sabine said. Marinette didn't say a word but her parents approached and she both hugged her parents.
Tom separated himself and his wife from the hug. "Sweetie. We got some bad news." Tom said. "You know that Ladybug hero you love?"
"Yeah of course." Marinette replied.
"She's- she's dead." Sabine said as she showed a news article on her phone that shows an image of a dead Kate with the words Ladybug is dead written in blood, the headline Ladybug is dead.
Marinette was in shock from the news, she ran upstairs to her bedroom and began sobbing on her bed. But this is a time for mourning, since Ladybug, the heroine of Paris is dead.
