Christmas was around the corner and though she wouldn't admit it to anyone else, Santana was having fun helping the Pierces decorate their house. Whitney and Pierce always went overboard with the decorations and everything was chaotic but Santana liked nothing better. Brittany's family loved all holidays and this was no exception.

Though it wouldn't be her own first choice, she didn't even mind the pink Christmas tree the family had chosen, especially after she saw the way Brittany absolutely beamed at the sight of it.

Whitney had already put up stockings for every member of the family, including ones for Santana and Lord Tubbington. Santana helped Pierce hang lights all around the house, although it was a little terrifying as she was sure the man would accidentally shock himself at any moment. Whitney stood by with her hands on her hips, watching in approval.

It was so different to how ordered and strict Christmas was at the Lopez house. She could imagine her mother's look of distress if Santana ever suggested a bright pink tree and a million outdoor lights.

Santana knew her parents were going to expect her to see them for Christmas at some point but she just couldn't bring herself to drive back to that house, knowing Maribel would be waiting for her there, no doubt with a million lectures for her about how she had messed things up.

As the month went on after that sick day they had taken together, Santana kept thinking about what the best Christmas gift she could get for Brittany would be and went out shopping by herself one day. Of course, she could just buy her something online but she had no idea what was appropriate to give as a gift when you got back together with your pregnant girlfriend.

After wandering around for an hour she still couldn't think of what to give her so she settled on just bringing home some snacks and copious amounts of chocolate instead to cheer Brittany up, knowing that she had exams in a few days and studying for them was taking a toll on her.

Brittany called to her from the living room when she got home from work, instantly sending her into a major panic.

"Santana, come quick! Something's happening!"

"What? What is it?" The Latina shouted. "Are you hurt?"

Santana practically dropped her bags she was holding and her eyes opened wide as she sprinted over to her girlfriend. She had all these nightmarish thoughts about what could have happened to her. She tended to always assume the worst.

She looked at Brittany in confusion when she stood up in front of her, scanning her body to find out where was hurt and wondering what the blonde was trying to show her until the taller girl lifted the hem of her tank top and guided Santana's hands to her growing bump as Santana continued to be perplexed.

They both gasped when they felt something like little bubbles popping against her sweet round stomach. Brittany felt the little kicks against her ribs and couldn't stop smiling.

"Oh."

"Aw, Santana."

"What does it feel like?"

"It's like little butterflies or popcorn. It's the best feeling ever." Brittany whispered dreamily.

"I can't believe he's really kicking for the first time. It makes this feel so real." Santana sighed happily in response. She couldn't keep the goofy smile off of her face as she leaned in to brush her lips against the taut skin and felt the little kicks against her mouth.

It was the sweetest sensation either of them had ever experienced. Brittany ran her fingers through her dark hair, both of them basking in the peaceful moment.

"At first I thought I was just hungry but man, he can really kick."

"I'm so glad I get to share this with you. Seriously the best early Christmas gift ever." Santana mused as Brittany hummed in agreement.

She moved closer, wrapping her arms around Brittany's waist and she could even feel the kicks against her own flat stomach when it was pressed up against Brittany's bump.

"Britt, what are you even eating?" Santana chuckled, amused when she saw the blonde with what looked like two delivery pizzas, breadsticks, onion rings, a side of french fries and three different types of pasta. She even had a chocolate lava cake set aside for dessert. "Smells good. Breadstix takeout again? Did you get everything on the menu?"

Of course, she was having her white pizza with ranch, Nutella and M&Ms again. Santana made a face as she saw all of that happening but couldn't help but grin anyway. Besides, she couldn't blame her for wanting Breadstix. It was better than any restaurant in New York, as far as Santana was concerned.

Though it was a little concerning that Brittany was eating Nutella straight from the jar these days...

"Sorry, I'm just so ravenous lately. Mom just brought this back for me. I swear, it's like I can't stop eating all week." Brittany mumbled in between taking small bites out of every dish.

"I can tell. I've never seen you this hungry ever. It's really cute. Damn, our kid must have one hell of an appetite."

"You're telling me. He definitely gets that more from my side of the family."

"It's like you're eating for four," Santana noted with a laugh. Brittany's eyes widened slightly as she thought back to all the dreams she had been having lately that she hadn't mentioned to Santana as yet. Luckily Santana didn't seem to notice her reaction. "I'm happy that you're eating, Babe."

"He's definitely your baby if he's making me want Breadstix this much," She joked and her girlfriend found that comment hilarious. "Come share this with me."

They were cuddling and kissing lazily later that night in bed when Brittany felt that familiar kicking sensation again. Santana could feel it as well.

"Guess who wanted to join in the cuddles." Santana smirked and pulled back slightly from her lips, leaning over to press warm kisses to the soft, smooth skin of Brittany's lower abdomen.

They both laughed when the baby jabbed Santana right in the face, as if jealous of Brittany giving her attention to someone else.

"Hey! He did that on purpose," The brunette chuckled. "Someone doesn't like sharing Mommy with anyone else."

Brittany stroked her stomach, loving those little flutters she felt. The baby kept kicking nonstop, interrupting them from their kissing session.

"Okay, okay I know you're excited but Mommy is a little tired right now and it isn't a good time for football practice," Brittany giggled, rubbing her stomach. "You're seriously so cute though."

An hour or two later, Santana looked up to see Brittany wincing, glancing at her bump curiously. She wasn't prepared for the next comment from the blonde.

"I think I'm having an octopus, San."

Santana looked away from the pregnancy book she was flicking through. She watched Brittany patting her bump gently as she often did.

She tilted her head to the side, trying to decipher what Brittany meant.

"Huh?"

"I mean, I feel all these strong kicks but not just in one place. It's like on both sides of my stomach. Kind of a kickboxing champion maybe. He's like a little ninja or something in there."

"Oh," Santana kind of felt like there was something a little unusual about all of this aggressive kicking. She placed her palms on either side of Brittany's stomach and felt the same thing Brittany spoke of. She leaned in to kiss Brittany's bump. "Maybe we just have a very active baby, Babe. It's probably normal. I mean, plus, he is a Lopez after all. You know we have a lot of energy. He's definitely gonna be a jock. A little soccer player. Or a dancer like you."

Santana still couldn't help but be anxious deep down, thinking that something was a little off about Brittany's pregnancy. She didn't want to worry her lover by saying that out loud.

Brittany wasn't really supposed to be this big already, according to what she had read, or still have all this morning sickness so late in the game, and the baby seemed to be kicking like crazy. She was terrified at the idea of them losing this baby in any way, to the point that she didn't even want to entertain the possibility.

It was strange how she felt extremely protective over this little thing that wasn't even in the world yet.

"The thing is, Santana, there's something I need to tell you. I've been having these dreams lately." Brittany finally spoke up, seeing the worried expression on Santana's face.

"What kind of dreams?"

The Latina looked terrified. Brittany cupped her cheeks gently, staring into her eyes as she stroked her shoulders, trying not to scare her.

"Dreams about you and I having fun days at the beach… with more than one baby."

Now Santana was really alarmed. There couldn't really be more than one, could there? It had to be just Brittany's subconscious running wild. She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself.

"Y-you have? Whoa, how many are we talking about here?"

"At least three. I can't really tell for sure but I did see six little hands. I didn't want to tell you before because I thought it might be too overwhelming for you and you look really terrified right now… "

Santana took another deep breath.

"It's kind of overwhelming to hear that but I'm glad you told me, Britt. You know what, we'll find out soon when you go for the second ultrasound in a few weeks."

Santana noticed the crestfallen look on Brittany's face.

"Would you be sad if we really did have more than one?"

"Of course not," Santana thought it over for a while, pulling Brittany into a hug. "That's not what I meant. It's just a little much for me to process the idea right now at this moment, since I still haven't figured out how to be a mom to our one baby. You know I've never exactly been the maternal type."

"I think you'll be great, San. Besides, we can figure it out together."

Santana felt comforted by Brittany's words though her thoughts kept drifting back to the conversation they had.

Could they really handle more than one fiery half Lopez baby together? She knew Brittany would be an amazing mother but she was so worried about her own ability to parent even one of them.

"Santana. Are you awake?"

Santana woke up hours later to her girlfriend's sweet, dreamy voice, half unconscious as Brittany shifted in her arms. The blonde was wide awake and patting her stomach.

She picked up Lord Tubbington who was moving around on the bed and cuddled him close.

"What's wrong? What time is it?"

"It's two a.m. Could please you get me chocolate peanut butter ice cream with marshmallows, gummy bears and fries?"

"Huh?" Santana was startled for a moment then she realized what her lover was asking. Brittany had been randomly waking her up for these strange requests so many times that Santana had learned not to argue.

"Please, San. I really need it. Our baby needs it. We need sour cream and onion chips too and vanilla ice cream to dip them in. Maybe a chocolate milkshake too."

She was looking at her all adorably and batting her eyelashes. Santana was powerless against this particular look and tone of voice from Brittany. She was already changing into clothes and searching for her car keys.

"Sure, Sweetheart. Anything you want."

"I love you so much." Brittany flung her arms around her tightly, and sobbing as she nuzzled into her neck. "You're so perfect. I really, really love you."

Santana pressed a kiss to her forehead and stroked her hair. These random crying spells were nothing new from Brittany these days.

"Anything for you, Beautiful."

The overjoyed reaction and kiss she got from Brittany when she returned made driving out in the freezing weather to search for all of those items all worth it, even if she had to yell at a few terrified store clerks and fast food drive through workers along the way.

Things had been peaceful lately, apart from Brittany's tiredness, chaotic food cravings, and occasional mood swings.

Brittany was in the middle of eating her fourth slice of chocolate cake with a side of Cheetos and a side of Nutella when she noticed Santana's dejected expression as she came back down from Brittany's bedroom days later after a phone call.

"What's wrong? I heard you shouting and you sounded really mad."

Santana groaned, flopping down on the couch. Brittany could tell from her tense body language that something was really making her upset.

"It's my mom. She just called me. Remember I told you she wasn't exactly thrilled about me leaving New York and coming back to Lima?"

Brittany nodded, watching her girlfriend sadly.

"Oh. right. I feel guilty. I feel like it's my fault you guys have this rift between you."

"It's really not your fault. This started even when I dropped out of Louisville. She thinks I'm a failure and I'm letting everyone down. My parents are just being so annoying and my grandmother is a lost cause," Santana grumbled. "Mom wants me to come back to her house and discuss what I'm doing with my life with her."

"Maybe it's better for us to talk to your mom together as a couple. I'm sure she can be reasonable about this. She is your mom after all and that way I'll be there to support you too."

Santana shook her head, sighing heavily as her expression turned serious.

"Oh Britt, I know you're trying to help and it's sweet but you don't know her as well as I do. I wouldn't even know what to say to her anyway. I wouldn't know where to begin with explaining our magical pregnancy situation to her."

"Even if she's mad at first, she can't not want to know anything about her grandbaby, right?"

Brittany made a good point. Santana had never been too close to her mom as their strong personalities clashed but if there was one thing you could say about Maribel it was that she was very committed to her family and Santana knew she wouldn't completely turn away a grandchild of hers. Especially one who was biologically related to her.

Santana was silent for a long time and Brittany frowned, realizing what she was probably thinking.

"You're worried she'll be embarrassed about all of it?" Brittany cast her gaze downward. "About me and the baby? I didn't want to bring shame to you. I'm sorry."

"Yeah, to be honest that does worry me that she'll get like that."

"Oh."

"That's not your fault though, one bit and you have nothing to be sorry for. I mean, it's hard to talk about but my mom doesn't exactly handle stuff like this well. You know how she can be. She accepts me being gay to a point as long as I don't go into detail about my romantic life with her but the last thing she'd want is some scandal that brings shame to the family. She doesn't believe in anything non-scientific either."

"Oh. Your mom definitely is the old-fashioned type. I just thought maybe we could get her to warm up to the idea... "

"I wish I could say she will but you know your family is so different from mine. Sure, they support me financially but they're not going to be all accepting like yours."

"Don't worry, Santana. We'll find a way to figure this all out." Brittany finally said.

She knew there was nothing she could say that would change Santana's family situation and unfortunately she couldn't undo the hurt her lover felt but she was going to support her through it all, regardless of how Maribel reacted when that day of her confronting Santana eventually came.

"Hey, Brittany," Tina was leaning against the locker next to hers, watching the taller girl curiously. "Do you want to come to my place this weekend? We're having a Christmas party for the Glee Club. I know you haven't been really invested in the club lately with your pregnancy and everything but I hope you can make it."

Brittany bit her lip, uncertain about what to say. She'd had a good time hanging out with Tina, Sugar, and their new friend Marley when Santana hadn't been back in the picture. She wanted to ask Santana to join them too but she wasn't sure how her girlfriend would feel about being around the others again.

"I know what you're probably thinking. Santana can come too. I can't tell you not to bring your lover."

"How did you know?"

"Please, Brittany, everyone knows. It's so obvious. Since she came back to Lima, she's always the one to drop you to school and you're always making excuses for why you need to be with her. Plus, Taylor from Cheerios saw you and Santana kissing at that purple ice cream shop over across town, then she told Becky, who told Sarah, who told Sugar, who told me. Taylor even got pictures."

"Damn. Whoa, Twitter's got nothing on you guys."

"Besides, you're like a whole different person. You have this… glow, like you're way happier than you were before she came back. Even more than the pregnancy glow I mean."

Brittany beamed at her.

"That's sweet. Thanks, Tina. Okay, you got me. You guys are right, Santana and I are totally dating again and yeah I know you will anyway but you can tell anyone you want that we're back together."

"I knew it!"

"I'll see if I can convince her to come to the party but it won't be easy." Brittany smiled and eventually gave in.

It might be fun for the two of them to go to the party as a couple and it made her feel a lot better knowing she would have Santana beside her.

Tina snorted, rolling her eyes.

"Good luck with that. It'll be this Saturday night at my house. I'll text you the address."
