A/N: HeMo was saying in a recent podcast that the Glee writers had approached her during Season 4 asking if she wanted Brittany's pregnancy to be written into the show. It made me think of this fic and the idea of Britt finding out she was pregnant after the Brittana breakup. When I wrote this originally I had no idea they might have considered that in the show at the time but I think ultimately HeMo was right to tell them no at the time (I don't trust those Glee writers lol) and the only way I'd have wanted that to happen in canon would be if Santana was somehow the other parent of Brittany's baby.
Spring had finally arrived and Brittany was cheerful about that, even if she was constantly tired. At the very least, sunny, bright days and the burst of vibrant colour from new flowers growing were a nice change after the dismal grey they had experienced for months. Brittany loved seeing the dandelions come up.
Whitney and Stacy had secretly suggested to Santana when Brittany wasn't around that it was about time for a baby shower for Brittany.
Santana was totally on board with it. It wasn't exactly traditional for the baby's other parent to be involved in planning the baby shower but then again not much else about Brittany and Santana's relationship was traditional anyway.
Tina and Sugar, who had become closer friends with Brittany that year, had been asking what theme Santana thought Brittany might like or what she herself would like. Santana kept thinking about how Brittany loved animals, especially cats. Santana barely had much time outside of work but she began helping the others in secret. Even Brittany's little sister had joined in with planning.
Brittany noticed they were all hiding something from her. It took everything in Santana not to give in and reveal the secret plan whenever her blonde lover pouted at her.
All of the planning paid off when she saw the way Brittany beamed that afternoon near the end of March. The safari theme was really fun and felt fitting for spring somehow as well.
They kept Brittany distracted one Saturday while they prepared the party in secret. Whitney took her out shopping with Stacy while Santana and Brittany's friends did the work to decorate and get everything together.
Brittany's friends had chosen green and gold balloons. The entire living room and kitchen were full of them now. Jungle-themed cookies and cupcakes were set aside for dessert. They even had little lion plushies in gift bags set aside to give to each of the guests. There were plenty of lions, jaguars, leopards, giraffes, elephants and other animals featured in the décor. It was quirky but so fitting for Brittany and Santana somehow.
By the time Brittany came back home early that afternoon, everything was finally ready. Whitney stood by with her hands on her hips, proudly looking on. Santana admired Brittany's beauty in the cute orange sundress she was wearing.
"You did this for me?!" Brittany squealed, leaning up against Santana's frame and burying her head against her neck. "I had no idea. I love it!"
Santana realized the blonde did that a lot - burying her face against Santana's neck - and she pointed it out to her one day. Brittany explained that Santana's scent was so comforting to her. Hearing that made Santana completely melt.
"I had a little help - okay, a lot of help - from your friends and family too." She admitted.
"Thank you, all of you, I don't know what to say."
"I read that they used to call it a stork shower." Santana pointed out with a grin, knowing Brittany would get a kick out of hearing that. Brittany's eyes lit up and she hugged Santana close.
"That's perfect for our babies, since a magical stork brought them to us. At least that's what we'll tell them when they're older."
"That's right, Babe. Do they really have to be here?" Santana grumbled as soon as she saw their guests again.
Santana was grumpy because having this many of their annoying friends around at the same time for Brittany's baby shower was driving her insane.
There was only so much she could take of Rachel, Tina, Mercedes, Quinn, Sugar, and the others in one room with her for an extended period of time. Even Emma Pillsbury and Roz Washington had dropped by.
Marley and Unique had decided to show up to support Brittany as well even though they didn't know her and Santana that well yet. Some of their cheerleading friends, including Neckbrace Cheerio, had shown up as well.
One thing Santana did enjoy was how they were fawning over Brittany because her fiancée deserved all of the extra attention and praise. It wasn't often that Brittany got to be the center of attention.
There weren't too many guys around as it was mainly a celebration for the girls but Mike Chang, Matt Rutherford, Joe, and Mr. Schuester were conversing together on the other side of the living room with Pierce and giving the girls plenty of space.
Santana frowned, realizing that her mother and grandmother weren't with them. It felt wrong for no other member the Lopez family to be with them but there was nothing that could be done about that.
"Oh, come on, Santana," Quinn rolled her eyes, pursed her lips and gave a little ladylike laugh. "You're the one who asked us to be here for Brittany."
"Whatever." Santana shrugged, trying to act tough because she was a little embarrassed about being called out.
"Oh my goodness, Brittany. You're so - wow!" Rachel gushed and her brown eyes opened wide when she saw Brittany's huge pregnant belly. "I haven't seen you for a while but you've seriously grown."
"I know. I feel like a balloon ready to pop," Brittany admitted with a laugh. "Having all these balloons around feels so fitting."
"It's so good to see you two!" Emma came up to Brittany, fawning over her as the blonde showed off her engagement ring.
Brittany was adding appetizers to her green plate. Brittany's friends had green napkins and plates to match the safari theme. Santana knew Brittany wouldn't be able to eat much overall since she struggled with that now. She had to eat tiny meals at a time.
The doctor told them Brittany was supposed to be eating three hundred extra calories each day per baby but they were sure Brittany was going under that. She just couldn't eat a lot without feeling uncomfortable.
"Britt, are you okay?" Santana sharply drew in a breath and rushed over to her lover's side when she noticed the blonde looking a little faint. She helped Brittany get settled on the couch and fussed over her, taking her plate and setting it aside for her. "Tired?"
"It's okay. I just felt a little dizzy and startled. They really are your babies. One of them just kicked really hard as soon as he saw the guests. I guess he's mad."
"Definitely my babies," Santana smirked proudly. They hadn't thought anyone had overheard them but were surprised when Tina was glancing in their direction. "You guys need to tone down on kicking Mommy. Babe, do you wanna go lie down for a while? I'm sure no one would be bothered if you decided to take a nap for a few minutes."
"Oh San, I don't need to do that," Brittany laughed, rolling her eyes fondly as Santana kept her arms around her the whole time, helping her get back on her feet. "It's sweet that you're always looking out for me but remember we talked about this. You don't need to protect me from everything."
Santana had become incredibly overprotective to the point where she was worried about Brittany doing almost anything these days. It was really cute but even Brittany was starting to get a little exasperated by Santana's constant hovering.
"Sorry. You know I just can't help it sometimes." Santana was a little embarrassed and running her fingers through her hair awkwardly.
"Oh," Tina gasped a little. "I get it now. They really are Santana's babies, aren't they? Babies with both of your genes combined. The same way Mike and I could make our babies."
Santana wasn't sure what to say. Should she deny it now when they had come this far? She nodded slightly and braced herself, fully expecting some really judgmental or rude comments.
"I don't know how to explain it to you but yes, that's exactly what they are." Santana told her quietly.
The other girls were now silent, watching them in interest.
"For what it's worth, I don't know how to explain it either but I believe you guys." Tina eventually told her. Santana and Brittany smiled at her gratefully.
Santana wrinkled her nose when Tina began to stare at her crotch area pointedly with narrowed eyes.
"You don't have a… you know, do you? Is there some extra equipment we don't know about down there?"
Santana's jaw dropped and then she screwed up her face in disgust at the very thought, covering her crotch area with her hands to shield it from view. Sugar shrieked, scandalized, while Mercedes and Quinn grimaced. They didn't want to think about anything Santana had going on down there.
"Oh sometimes she does when I ask for it, especially on special occasions, like if it's my birthday," Brittany mused. "It's really big. It's huge. We have a whole collection of them."
"Britt!" Santana gasped. She was a little embarrassed about her friends knowing about their sex life but part of her felt kind of proud. "She doesn't mean like that, obviously, I mean it's not the same thing but you know what she means."
"What? Why are you staring at me? She's out of this world amazing in bed with me."
"Seriously? TMI, Britt! We really did not need to know that." Mercedes groaned as Rachel, Tina, Sugar, and Quinn had similar expressions of disgust and mumbled in agreement with her. Marley looked horrified, as if her wholesome innocence had been stripped from her.
"Hey, there's no need to be jealous." Brittany shrugged with a mischievous smile as the others shook their heads.
"We definitely aren't." Tina pretended to gag.
"Deny it all you want but she's all mine and you girls can't have her." Brittany joked.
"You can keep her." Rachel quipped in a deadpan voice as Santana gave her a deadly glare while Brittany kissed her lover on the cheek.
Tina was helping them clear away some of the dishes from the table. Brittany was hovering nearby, even though Santana insisted that she could just relax instead of doing chores.
"What do you want now, Chang Squared?" Santana muttered defensively, noticing that Tina was still watching her and Brittany with wide eyes.
"I'm just saying I get it. I didn't really know what to think before but I don't know why, I just know you're telling the truth now."
Santana didn't know what to say. It was the first time she had felt appreciative of the shorter gothic girl's presence.
"Thank you, Tina." Santana's face softened every so slightly and her voice wasn't as harsh or cold as it usually was.
"Aw, I think this is actually really sweet!" Sugar piped up, "Santana is so protective of her. Good for you, Brittany. I'm happy for you guys!"
"You must be really proud, Santana." Mercedes grinned.
"Brittany also looks like she's ready to pop any second now," Rachel laughed then sighed dreamily. "I wonder what it'll be like when I have my first baby."
"That's what you think, until you're actually in labour and then you'll be regretting the whole thing. Yes, believe me, it hurts. Oh man, Brittany, do I ever have some advice for you." Quinn piped up.
"Don't scare her, Fabray!" Mercedes chuckled as Santana glared warningly in Quinn's direction.
All things considered, everyone was being pretty supportive and not making a huge deal about the idea that the babies were both Brittany and Santana's children biologically.
This was going way better than Santana expected and she didn't feel like she needed to constantly be on the defensive with the girls.
Santana was just happy that she could comfortably show off her relationship in front of this whole group of people without being judged. She felt like she could finally let her guard down a little and act like any other couple would without having to worry.
"We all support you guys, isn't that right, Girls? You make a beautiful couple. We like how you treat each other, even if you're kinda mean to the rest of us." Mercedes noted and the other girls agreed.
"Awww, we really appreciate all your support, Guys." Brittany smiled tearfully. She was starting to get so emotional from the thought of the others supporting them.
"Have you given any thought to names?" Quinn asked politely. Santana froze. She hadn't ever been too creative in that department and now she felt pressured. She adored her babies but she thought it would be mainly up to Brittany to help them decide that.
Santana was embarrassed to admit that she had thought about names a few times but all of her ideas sounded too basic and boring in her head.
"What about them? Yeah names are really weird. Especially since there will be like three or six girls named Amanda and they're all totally different but they're in the same year. It's so confusing. Then have you also noticed everyone with the name Bethany is a bitch and every Kyle smells like cheese?"
"I think she means names for our babies, Britt." Santana smiled fondly as the other girls stared at Brittany in confusion while her lover rambled on.
"Oh! Right. San and I will talk some more about that but I do have a few ideas. Simba is at the top of my list." Brittany explained sweetly.
Mercedes and the others snorted when they heard the last part, holding back laughter.
"Maybe we can talk about that choice a little more, Babe." Santana suggested with a soft smile, trying to reign her lover in a little.
The girls began to change the subject. They chatted excitedly about their plans for college and jobs. This time, Santana was a lot less insecure about everything. She didn't get worked up when the others asked her about her plans.
"What about you, Brittany? Any plans for your dream job after your demanding little half Lopez babies are a little older?" Quinn spoke up, watching Brittany curiously.
"She takes care of me." Brittany shrugged casually and glanced in Santana's direction, not particularly interested in talking about college or jobs for herself, or in general. The thought of being a new mother and wife was overwhelming as it was, even though she loved every second of it.
Quinn arched an eyebrow, not really understanding the appeal. She didn't understand how Brittany could find that kind of life fulfilling. Quinn would always prefer being a career woman if given the option.
"Britt, what happened to feminism? You're just going to be barefoot and pregnant forever?"
"You know, every woman is different, Quinn. Besides, I'm about to be married to modern feminism. She's standing right here with us," Brittany shrugged again with a laugh as she glanced over at Santana. "I do want to always continue dancing and keep getting better at it. I'll always dance even as a hobby but maybe I could be a dance teacher too."
"You'd be a great dance teacher, Britt." Quinn nodded as Tina and the others hummed in agreement. No one could deny that it might have been the perfect job for the taller blonde if she decided to work.
Brittany knew she wasn't the kind of person who would do well in university, or be much of a career woman. Nor was she particularly interested in pursuing all of that.
She was growing increasingly confident about knowing what she was and wasn't. She didn't feel the need to impress other people and she was proud of being the mother of Santana's children.
"Hey, you know whatever you choose to do is just fine with me." Santana wrapped her arm around her waist, pulling her close and kissed her cheek as the blonde beamed.
"I think that's lovely," Emma chimed in from nearby, "There's nothing wrong with Brittany being a stay at home mom. If that works for you two, you should go for it. If you want the perspective from someone who's a little older, Brittany seems to be confident about what she wants in her life and I admire that."
Santana hugged Brittany closer, kissing her forehead.
"Thanks, Miss Pillsbury." Brittany mumbled softly. She was genuinely touched by the support. At least someone understood where she was coming from.
When they were like this, it was easy to imagine them being married. Santana was starting to really want that life. It felt almost like they already were wives, even if it wasn't official. Maybe they had been in that dynamic for a very long time.
It might have surprised a lot of people that Santana was pretty traditional when it came to having a family, despite going against the norm when it came to her sexuality. She knew labels didn't matter and Brittany wouldn't mind one way or the other but she wanted to do things properly, to have a wife, live in their own house, and to be married when they had their children.
Santana's trust fund kicked in when she was eighteen so she more than had the resources to do what she wanted.
Santana and Brittany took plenty of pictures with their guests. Santana already had a million pictures of the various stages of pregnant Brittany since she had been living with her and she couldn't get over how stunning her fiancée was with her renewed glow.
"Hi Rachel," Brittany went up to the small brunette in the kitchen when the others were distracted and talking in the living room. "So when's your baby due?"
Rachel almost dropped the glass she was holding at Brittany randomly blurting that out of nowhere in such a casual way. Brittany just said the first thing that had come to her head.
"W-what are you talking about?!"
Brittany just watched her in silence with a small smile.
"You really are pregnant too, aren't you? C'mon, you can tell me."
Rachel finally nodded quietly, unable to deny it. Her eyes darted around as she wanted to make sure they were completely alone.
"How on earth did you know? I haven't told a soul. I- I thought I hid it well."
"Santana isn't the only one with a psychic third eye, I guess," Brittany shrugged with a playful smile. "Motherly instincts maybe? I just got a feeling when I saw you and I don't know why it was the first thought that came to my head. You and Finn must be so happy."
"We are. This was unexpected and I'm about three months along. I know you'll probably tell Santana but please don't tell anyone else. I'm in the middle of our run of Funny Girl and I don't want this news to get out."
"You got it, I totally understand. Our lips are sealed especially after you kept my secret this whole time as well."
"I didn't feel it was my business to share it. Besides, the two of you guys reminded me of how my dads must have been when they were younger. I know how difficult it must have been for them at the time when they were having me. It wasn't my place to judge."
"You know, even though you do kind of get on all of our nerves sometimes, you actually are a good friend, Rachel," Brittany laughed. "I'm sure our babies will all be frenemies. Your baby's gonna be really loud and intense but maybe she'll inherit your singing abilities."
Rachel scoffed, folding her arms over her chest and pretended to be offended but eventually giggled along with the blonde in a good natured way, though she couldn't help being a little shady in her response.
"I'm sure your three will be as wild and fiery as Santana."
"I hope they will be." Brittany replied genuinely, not seeing that as an insult.
"No one loves her the way you do, I swear." Rachel chuckled in slight disbelief. Santana seemed like such a difficult personality to deal with in a romantic partner but Brittany just adored her even with all of her flaws.
Brittany's face crumpled and she slouched over, her lower lip wobbling.
"What's wrong? You look so sad all of a sudden. Hormones?"
Brittany normally wouldn't have admitted the truth but she just needed to confide in someone.
"I just feel guilty because I do love her so much but I must have ruined this for her. Santana's mom and aunts could have been here, or even her grandma but it's because of me that they're not. They all hate me," Brittany sniffled. "I just get the feeling her mother thinks I'm… too stupid for her daughter. She thinks I'm dragging Santana down. She just doesn't like me. Should I do something?"
Rachel wasn't sure what to say. She had never known Brittany that well and didn't know how to comfort her. Rachel and Brittany had never liked each other very much but she felt pity for the eccentric blonde. She tried to tell her what she herself would have wanted to hear.
"Family relationships can be complicated and difficult. I know parents want the best for their babies. My dads' parents didn't approve of their relationship so they had to move away and make up their own last name. We still don't really hear from them at all now," The brunette explained sorrowfully. "On the bright side, My dads didn't like Finn too much, especially my Papa LeRoy but now they warmed up to him. Maybe you just need to give them more time to get to know you."
"I hope you're right," Brittany sighed, "Her mom has known me since forever but she just never warmed to me. I just don't want to cause a rift between Santana and her family forever."
"I'm sure things will get better, Brittany." Rachel smiled politely and the girls hugged each other quickly before returning to the party.
The shower ended fairly early because they knew Brittany would be too tired to take on much more activity. Brittany and Santana agreed to keep in touch with all of the girls, especially Rachel, Quinn, Tina, and Mercedes, and update them on Brittany's situation.
Brittany had also secretly offered to give Rachel any advice she needed. Quinn had made it clear to Brittany that even though the shorter blonde's own pregnancy had been quite disastrous, she'd be willing to help her with any questions she had.
Mike Chang, who was one of Brittany's oldest friends had congratulated her again with a big bear hug. He was genuinely happy for Santana and Brittany. Though Brittany and Santana thought it was hilarious that he kept dodging Tina's attempts to bring up the subject of marriage and babies for himself and the short gothic girl.
Brittany knew those two would eventually sort themselves out. Mercedes also had a new tall, light brown-haired boyfriend who was older and more mature. He had very similar interests to Mercedes. The girl had happily confessed that she had started out being best friends with him and ended up being much more. Santana joked that the guy sounded like a straight version of Kurt but way less annoying. Brittany had to admit that her lover was spot on with that description.
When the girls finally left, Santana was left to do the rest of the cleaning up with Brittany and her mother. She had tried to urge Brittany to get some rest instead of helping them with the chores but the blonde insisted.
Whitney finally went upstairs after hugging them both and congratulating them again, leaving them in privacy. Both girls were so grateful to have Brittany's parents around. They were so incredibly loving and supportive.
Once they were finally alone Santana took a deep breath, finally speaking up about something that had been on her mind.
"I've been thinking about it for a long time and I think I want to go back to college. Not now, I mean but maybe sometime after the babies are born. I know, I've tried so many things and dropped out of every single thing but this time it's different. I think I know what I want now and with you by my side for support, this will be much easier. We can stay together in the same house or apartment close to the school even, wherever I choose to go. I want to be a lawyer. Not because of my parents' expectations, or society's, or to impress anyone. It's just a way of challenging myself. Having a new goal to work toward, you know?"
Now that Santana had a soon to be wife and family to provide for, it gave her much more motivation to work. She had never actually wanted to work so hard in her life but she had a reason to now.
Brittany beamed at her, throwing her arms around Santana.
"Really? That's wonderful, San! You would be amazing. You know I've always wanted to see you follow your dreams."
"I feel the same about you. What do you see yourself doing when the kids are older? Not that you need to do anything at all, Baby," Santana reassured her. "I'm just curious about how you feel. You can just be your gorgeous self. If that's what you want, of course. I'm more than happy to bring home the bacon, so to speak, and take care of you completely if that's what you want."
Santana meant every word of it. It made her feel very fulfilled to think of herself as the provider for Brittany and their family. In fact, her role made her feel more content than she had ever been.
"I know everyone probably thinks I should go to college and try to get some amazing career like Rachel and the other girls but like I said back there to the other girls, that's not what I want. I do love dancing but being your wife and the mother of your children is what I've always wanted the most in my life."
Santana had no doubt that Brittany would be loving and patient as a mother. It felt like a natural transition to her. Besides, Brittany being a more traditional housewife didn't mean their fun had to stop at all. The blonde could still have all of her hobbies and interests. She might even have enough time to pursue them.
Brittany and Santana certainly had enough money for that. They were still going to travel the world together and go on all the luxury vacations they wanted.
The two of them made an excellent team, each supplying what the other lacked.
"I think that alone will be a full time job in itself," Santana chuckled. She felt flattered that Brittany wanted to be her wife and support her completely. No one had ever supported her better than Brittany. "I don't think there's any shame in being a traditional wife and mom. In fact, it's a pretty beautiful thing, especially for you. You're the most nurturing and loving woman. You'll be wonderful."
It shocked Santana how much she wanted to be well, a provider for Brittany. She had never thought of herself as the type who wanted to do so much for another person but Brittany just brought out these instincts in Santana to protect and provide for her.
"What is it, Britt?" Santana asked with concern, noticing the way Brittany's expression suddenly changed, a sad frown on her face. "You seemed so happy just now? Did I say something wrong?"
"It's not that. You said nothing wrong, Honey. I'm just really sorry that your family doesn't like me," Brittany finally spoke up about what she had been insecure about for a while. "I know you wanted your mom and abuela to be with us today. I can't help but feel like I ruined the baby shower because of that."
Santana shook her head.
"You didn't ruin a thing. You were perfect. Hey, don't let that get to you. Baby, I love you more than anything in the world. You know I told you I don't care about what they think of you. I'll always love my mom but I love you more. You and our babies are the best thing to ever happen to me. C'mon let's go watch movies and relax."
"I'd love that. Great idea. So guess who's pregnant?" Brittany's eyes twinkled mischievously. Santana hesitated, wondering if her lover was joking or if this was a trick question. "You won't believe it."
"Other than you? I don't know, Baby. Did Charity or one of your other cats get knocked up again because I don't think we can handle ten kittens right now," Santana noticed the pout on Brittany's face and rushed to add. "Actually maybe we can."
"No, even more scandalous. I'll give you a hint - she's your sworn arch nemesis and she plays a funny girl."
"Rachel Berry?!" Santana's jaw dropped. "No way!"
"Yes way but we can't tell anyone else."
"Imagine that. I can't believe this. Little miss prudish prissy girl got knocked up. Our babies will be way cuter than hers." Santana announced smugly as Brittany hummed in agreement, kissing her lips softly.
Brittany brightened up a little as she lay on her back in bed that night while Santana massaged her legs, both of them in comfortable pajamas. Brittany was mostly wearing loose pants, shorts, or skirts these days when she wasn't in dresses because it helped with the swelling in her ankles. She was also feeling nearly constant aches and pains throughout the month.
"Hey, if you want I can go make you something," Santana suggested, noticing with an amused smile that her lover was munching on Cheetos and a chocolate bar again, "Something with protein. You know those things you like are full of chemicals. Britt, you're getting orange dust on the bed."
Santana wrinkled her nose at the snacks and the fact that Brittany had accidentally dropped a few on the sheets. She had never been quite able to convince Brittany to give up snacks even for a while. Brittany even had a snack drawer in the fridge and frequently kept cake in her purse. Convincing Brittany to cut out snacks would be a losing battle. The blonde just loved anything with sugar.
It was cute but Brittany needed to have a lot more protein now because of the babies. Santana had been gradually encouraging her in a gentle way to eat proper balanced meals with actual protein, although the blonde still had her share of chocolate and ice cream.
"Mm but Cheetos are all I need. Everything is full of chemicals anyway. They're so nourishing and I really don't feel like a protein meal right now."
"Not even shrimp and crab?" Santana smirked as Brittany's interest was piqued and she put down the Cheetos. "I had a feeling that might be something you can't refuse. C'mon, I know you're hungry."
Getting Brittany shrimp had proven to be one of the best ways to get her to up her protein intake without so much as an argument from the blonde. Santana had sneakily been buying lots of takeout shrimp and other seafood all the time to encourage Brittany to eat.
"That does sound really good," Brittany admitted. "I feel like a bodybuilder these days with the constant protein you're giving me."
"You kind of are, I guess, in a way," Santana chuckled. "I'll go make you something nice, Babe. Just a little meal. I promise it'll be even better than gummy worms and chocolate."
"I think that's impossible but I'll hold you to that." Brittany joked, sticking out her tongue playfully.
She was so appreciative of Santana cooking for her now. It was one of the seemingly minor things her lover did for her that really made her feel cherished and one less thing to worry about. Even though Santana had never been good at cooking, she was at the very least trying her best and ordering in when she could.
"What's the matter?" Santana murmured later on after dinner and a movie.
"It's just I feel really uncomfortable today all over my body. It's probably from all the walking today."
"I understand, Sweetie. You just lay down and relax. You don't need to get up again for a while."
Santana began to massage her again. She snickered when Santana's massages eventually progressed to her thighs and ass, even though she hadn't requested those specifically. She hummed in satisfaction, closing her eyes, and practically moaned when Santana rubbed her lower back.
Santana loved massaging her. It was one of the few things she could do that really made Brittany feel better - well, other than that other one obvious thing - when she felt so uncomfortable all the time in her pregnancy.
Brittany lay on her back when she was done and Santana placed some pillows under her legs to keep them elevated.
"So do you wanna talk about names a little more?" Brittany asked.
Santana thought it was adorable how invested Brittany was in coming up with ideas. The blonde grabbed her notebook from her bedside table. She already had the longest list imaginable of potential ideas. Brittany kept saying she knew they would be boys so she mostly had boy names.
"Sure, Baby. I'm sure I'll love all your suggestions."
"I really like Disney prince names if we do have any boys. Or maybe we could name them after one of the guys in One Tree Hill."
Santana thought that over for a second, tilting her head to the side. She was the voice of reason to help her choose more "normal" names even if she thought Brittany had some genius ideas.
"That's really cute, Babe. I just don't want them to get teased at school."
"You're right. I really like Spanish names too. I'd love to give our children Spanish names to honour you."
Santana felt flattered and touched when she heard this. Brittany was practically fluent in Spanish and truth be told better at speaking it than Santana was.
"You would?"
"I love your name. I love those adorable dimples too and the way you laugh," Brittany's smile turned seductive as she inched closer to her lover. "I love how I can make you putty in my hands just like this."
Brittany cupped her cheeks and kissed her deeply. Santana helped her take off her shirt, followed by her heart-patterned pajama pants.
When they were both nude, Santana couldn't wait and slipped her hand between Brittany's thighs. She felt the wetness against her fingertips but continued teasing Brittany, rubbing circles on her clit. She kept going, making Brittany come several times just with that and sliding her fingers through the wet seam of her, circling her entrance teasingly as Brittany whimpered.
Brittany squeaked, unable to handle anymore.
"Mm I need you inside me." She panted, pushing her face against Santana's neck and squeezing her eyes shut. Santana chuckled, hearing the desperation in Brittany's voice and pushed into her all at once, marveling at the tight, velvety warmth around her. Brittany was dripping down over her wrist, onto her abs and thigh as Santana pumping into her, setting a fierce pace. Santana leaned up to kiss her nipples and suck them.
Santana flipped them around, gently encouraging Brittany to lay on her back and allow Santana to do most of the work again. She noticed Brittany was breathing hard and flushed, but moaning softly. Her face was screwed up in pleasure.
"Oh, oh, Santana." Her moans rose in pitch as she reached her climax again and trembled through it.
Santana smiled proudly, curling around her body and encouraging Brittany to rest her head against her chest as they cuddled up together for warmth.
Santana noticed that Brittany was fretting over all of the wedding ideas she was researching. Santana had never realized just how much planning weddings involved. At first, Santana hadn't said a word about how Brittany was going slightly bridezilla but now she felt it was time to put her foot down when she saw how distressed it was making her lover.
"Santana, am I too fat?"
Santana blinked several times when she heard this, freezing in her tracks. She knew that when Brittany or any other woman started asking those types of questions, it was going into dangerous territory so she swallowed hard and did a double take. Sometimes there was no "right" answer for these kinds of questions.
Brittany had been pretty hormonally charged lately and Santana really didn't want to say the wrong thing that might end up triggering her emotionally fragile lover into a fresh wave of tears.
"Of course not but you're carrying three babies, Babe. You can't help being bigger," Santana rushed to reassure her. "You're doing an incredible job with them."
Santana started to kiss her neck but Brittany was too distracted to give in.
"I'm too big for all these dresses." Brittany sobbed in despair. Santana's face fell. She had a feeling this was coming because Brittany had been so jittery lately.
"Oh, Sweetheart. What's wrong? Are you okay? What's really bothering you?"
"It's just that I need our wedding to be perfect but there's so much, I don't know where to start. I wish my brain worked differently so I didn't get so confused about everything."
Santana frowned. This had been her fear from the beginning. She also knew that she was the only one who could calm Brittany down when she was totally worked up like this.
"Whoa, hey, hey, there's no rush. There's no time limit on this. There's nothing wrong with you for being overwhelmed. I am too. Baby, let's just take one thing at a time. We really don't have to get married right this minute. We have plenty of time. You know our babies can still take my last name if that's what you want but everything else about the wedding ceremony can wait."
Brittany knew Santana was right. Carrying all of their babies to full term would be incredibly difficult and their doctor had warned her that they could expect them to be quite premature.
Brittany just wasn't in the right headspace to make their wedding as perfect as she wanted it to be. Knowing that she didn't have to plan everything until later cheered the blonde up a lot.
"Hey, look at me," Santana cupped her cheek gently, speaking in an even voice. "We will get through this. You're strong, you know. Stronger than I am. Next spring or summer, when everything calms down a little, we'll have that dream wedding you want. We'll find the perfect dresses. You'll be the most beautiful bride in existence. In the meantime, you'll be my wife in every other sense of the word, just without the official legal crap, and we'll be moms to our babies together like we were always meant to be because they need us the most."
Brittany nodded. Her babies meant more to her than some fancy ceremony and she knew Santana was her soulmate. They didn't need anyone else to confirm that for them. They needed to focus on what was most important to them.
"Remember what your doctor said about being calm and living in the moment. You just need to keep calm and relax for now."
"You're right. I swear, you just know exactly the right thing to say to make me feel better." Brittany put her arms around Santana's shoulders and sighed deeply in relief.
