It had been a grueling week for both Scully and Mulder. Late nights at work, back-to-back cases, and an endless stream of paperwork had left them drained. Saturday night, they barely made it to bed before collapsing into a deep sleep.

Sunday morning, however, brought an unexpected wake-up call.

The sound of clattering pans and muffled laughter drifted upstairs. Scully stirred first, blinking groggily. "What is that?" she murmured, nudging Mulder.

Mulder groaned, burying his face in his pillow. "Sounds like an alien invasion in the kitchen. Let them take me."

Scully chuckled softly, her curiosity piqued. She sat up and stretched before glancing at the clock. "It's barely 9 a.m. What are they doing down there?"

The answer came moments later when Sabrina, Joanna, and Beatrice appeared in their doorway, beaming with pride. Each was holding a tray laden with breakfast food.

"Surprise!" Joanna announced.

"We made you brunch!" Sabrina added.

Beatrice grinned. "Well, technically, it's breakfast. We didn't want to burn down the house, so it took a while."

Scully and Mulder exchanged amused glances before sitting up. Mulder, rubbing the sleep from his eyes, quipped, "I don't smell smoke, so I'm already impressed."

The girls set the trays down carefully on the bed. There were scrambled eggs, slightly charred toast, bacon, fruit, and even a small stack of pancakes. Joanna poured orange juice into glasses with a dramatic flourish.

"Wow," Scully said, genuinely touched. "This is amazing, girls."

"Yeah," Mulder added, grabbing a fork. "This is much better than the burnt Pop-Tarts I was expecting."

Beatrice rolled her eyes. "We're not 10 anymore, Dad. We're practically chefs now."

Sabrina smirked. "Though there was a minor pancake-flipping incident. Joanna almost wore one."

Joanna shot her a playful glare. "At least I didn't put salt in the orange juice!"

Scully laughed, taking a sip of the thankfully salt-free juice. "This is such a thoughtful surprise. What's the occasion?"

The girls shrugged in unison. Beatrice answered, "You both looked so tired last night, and we figured you deserved a break."

"And maybe a reminder of how much we appreciate you," Sabrina added, a little shyly.

Mulder set his fork down and looked at them with mock seriousness. "You girls are too good to us. Are you sure you're not plotting something?"

Joanna laughed. "Not this time, Dad. Just enjoy it."

They stayed together for the better part of the morning, eating, laughing, and chatting about everything from school drama to plans for the rest of the day.

Later, as the girls cleared the trays and headed back downstairs, Scully leaned into Mulder's shoulder, sighing contentedly.

"Did we really raise those thoughtful, wonderful kids?" she asked.

Mulder wrapped an arm around her, grinning. "Either that, or aliens swapped them out with perfect clones. But I'm not complaining."

Scully chuckled softly, letting her eyes close again. For the first time in days, she felt truly rested—and deeply grateful for the family they'd built together.
