AN: Hmm idk how to start this 0-0 Think of this as a police au or like a Law & Order & Law & Order SVU au. I will obviouslynotbe doing anything similar to SVU because I do not feel comfortable writing such things, I will only sorta be taking components from it, I think. And for this au it's kinda like how the adventure game series is with where humans and mobins all just live together, if that makes sense? Anyways, enjoy?

TW: For Swearing. Mild blood. Mild violence. Strangulation. Mention of murder.

It was a chill morning in New York. Yet it was still as bustling and busy as ever, with more travelers they've ever seen than the last months. And 'cause of that it ment crime was at an all time high.

Detective Sonic and Detective Shadow were working on the case of the murder of a 26 year old man who was going on a trip to Korea to visit family members, unfortunately the man never made it to the airport. The man was found in a dumpster by a garage man. He was beaten brutally and his possessions were either taken, or found scattered in the dumpster.

Both Sonic and Shadow were growing frustrated with this case. All they knew was that the garbage man had seen a man leaving the alley during the time he discovered the body, same reports came from others in the vicinity. They had a description of the man but they had yet to gather a line up.

Sonic leaned backwards in his chair with a groan, he was growing frustrated with all the waiting they were just doing, he knew he had to be patient but this just seemed to be taking an eternity to him. Shadow seemed to take notice of this since he took his eyes off the papers in his hands.

"Well, you seem pissed." Said Shadow looking above the papers.

"I think you should know why Shadow." Sonic grimaced as he gave his partner an annoyed smile.

"Well, lighten up, you're bringing the whole mood in the department down. What happened to that stupid, happy, go lucky hedgehog I know?" Shadow said meaning his every word

"I'm not stupid Shadow." Sonic chuckled

"Whatever you say hedgehog." Shadow grinned

Sonic just smiled back.

Time skip: 30 minutes later.

After stressing more and more about the case over how little evidence they have, the two decided to go get lunch. Well Sonic decided, he just dragged Shadow along. They were walking down to the burger joint 'Meh-Burger', which was about half a block away from the station.

It wasn't too busy when they walked in, just a family and small group of mobin teens were in the building. Sonic and Shadow walked up to one of the open registers, and were helped by a young man. He had tan skin, and brown shaggy hair with green eyes.

As Sonic gave the order Shadow couldn't help but just stare at the man, he seemed to match the description perfectly of who was seen walking out the alley, he glanced at the name tag that saidAlex. Once Sonic finished putting in the order, he payed, thanked the man for his help, and made his way on over to one of the booths with Shadow following.

Once they were sat, Shadow started talking.

"Sonic, didn't that man who had helped us seem to fit the cases description perfectly?" Shadow said as he arched his eyebrow

Sonic blinked for a second, then turned to look at the man quickly.

"You know, you're right. He does fit it perfectly.." Sonic said quietly

They both gave each other a look. They were sharing one thought in that moment.

They might've just found their perp.

Time skip cause I'm lazy chat: 4 days later.

Shadow had been right about the man at the burger joint fitting the description. They were able to set up a line up with him in it and he was picked out as the one seen leaving the alley. And after some more research on the man, they gained his full name, Alex Walker, who was about to get a little visit from Detective Sonic and Shadow. (With permission from Chief Knuckles and Director Amy of course)

They both went up the stairs to Walkers residence. The lawn desperately needed to be mowed but the least of their concerns about now. Shadow knocked on the door, he crossed his arms as they waited. Soon Alex opened the door, shocked to see officers on his doorstep. Which Sonic took the opportunity to speak.

"Alex Walker, you're under arrest for the murder of Jacob Lee. You have th-" Sonic never finished speaking before Walker smashed a picture frame against Shadows head and started running through the house, Sonic followed after him quickly.

He saw the man run up the stairs which he did the same. He managed to grab the man by his arm but he jerked out of his grasped and gave Sonic a hard right hook to his face, which made him collide into the wall.

"Fuck!" He yelled as he placed his hand on his face. He hissed in pain. But panic started to set over him as he felt Walkers hands wrap around his neck and begin to squeeze.

His eyes widened as he tried to pull his hands off his neck to no avail. He started choking as hecouldn't get any air into his lungs. He tried kicking his legs out to see if that could get him off. It didn't work. He tried pushing against the man's chestseeing if that would work. It didn't work.

Sonics vision started to blur, his eyes started to open and close rapidly. The hands around his neck started getting is how he dies?Sonic thought, he still had so much to do, he never showed Tails his favorite place in New York, he still had a cake to bake for Amy, he never got a chance to take those boxing lessons with Knuckles, he never went roller skating with Shadow..

. . .

Sonic didn't want to die! He still had so many things to do! And as if some force above heard him, Walker was ripped off of him and was thrown into some display cabinet he had at the bottom of the staircase. Sonic collapsed onto the stairs, coughing and gasping for air. His throat hurt like a bitch, but he was alive, he was fucking alive. He felt a hand on his shoulder, he quickly turned around to see it was Shadow, he had got Walker off of him.

Shadow seemed relatively fine besides the bloody gash where he was hit with the picture frame. Shadow helped Sonic sit upright since he felt lightheaded, as did Shadow. They both sat there in silence, a hand resting on the injures they gained.

"You okay?" Said Shadow, breaking the silence

Sonic nodded, "Yeah," he sighed "Yeah I think I'm gonna be okay, and you?" He wasn't happy with how course his voice sounded

"Yeah I'm gonna be fine, sucker didn't smash the glass onto me just the frame." He had a hand on his head where he was hit, it was bloody but it wasn't that bad. Just needed to be cleaned and bandaged.

There was silence between them again, but they let it stay this time.

AN: Now let's just say that I had lots of fun writing this one! This is probably gonna be one of the longest chapters I'm ever going to write for these drabbles/oneshots but I am SO proud with how it turned out! I really hope you enjoyed it too! I may do more of this au since it really seems like it would be something fun to work with :) If this gets good feedback I'll definitely make more of this au (or just cause I want to :3) I'll be seeing you all in a few days -3-
