"Speech"
"Powerful Creatures Speaking, like a dragon or a god"
"Text via book or newspaper... when those are around..."
"Well. That was exhausting." I sigh as I lay back in my conjured hammock. My eyes stray around the room, to Koneko at the fridge eating a lunchable, to Valerie drinking from a wooden bucket of blood that we bought from a nearby butcher shop, and Rias... topless as she had just crawled out of the shower. Her hair is wet, body still glistening slightly.
"Mhm." Rias nods slowly, a yawn leaving her lips as she looks over to me. "Andyyy what are we going to eat?"
"That's what I've been asking for the past hour. We have fast food. We have gas station. Take your pick... oh, and while you're deciding, Rias can I borrow the glasses. I need to read this book Virgo gave me."
"Ah. Here you go." The woman hums, placing a red pair of glasses in my waiting hand.
"Holy shit... how?!" I whisper feeling the sheer magical aura of this item. I didn't really focus on it last time. It's more than the star fury. It's more than the pipe organ... it even surpasses Virgo's celestial spirit key and that was a beacon of energy in its own right.
This surpasses it by... two- no at least three times... what the actual fuck?
"I know... Ajuka is soooo bullshit." The girl sighs.
"Whatever." I shrug. Slipping them on and opening the book.
The celestial spirit book snaps open, rapidly flipping through the pages. It's overwhelming. So much knowledge... so quickly.
I don't know how long it takes but eventually the book snaps shut causing me to let out a few heaving gasps.
My hand shakily rises, slipping the glasses off my face.
"What- how-"
"I know. Kind of overwhelming." Rias admits. "You'll need a minute to sift through all that knowledge."
"How... How long was that?" I question.
"You were reading for about a minute." Rias admits.
"A-A minute?! That ENTIRE book?! It was over five hundred pages!"
"Yep. Ajuka's bullshit." The girl smirks causing me to let out a long sigh.
"So... have you decided what you want?" I ask as I rub my temple
"Do you know any good pizza places?" Valerie asks after a moment.
"Dominos or Pizza hut. Take your pick I've got coupons for each." With a few waves of my hand large screens appear in front of the three girls. "I'm just gonna... close my eyes for a minute."
Anyways... that kind of sucked.
But my TIME!
I saved so much fucking TIME!
Time I could be doing other things! Time where- if I wanted- I could crack open ANOTHER book!
If I wanted to increase this migraine of mine to head explosion levels, at least.
"For what it's worth, that headache is only for when you first read a book. if you re-read something you've already read it's a lot less painful." Rias supplies as I can feel her gently rub my head, taking her glasses back.
Oh. That's kind of useful.
"This pain is worth it." I grin slowly, eyes cracking open. "Due to the sheer time I've saved. Normally that would have taken an afternoon. Yet all it took was just a single idle minute."
I look to the order that is quickly piling up.
'calm down... we as a group made five hundred dollars today with the mission alone... this is nothing... besides, I've still got a lot of cash from giving Papi steel and from robbing the duke. This is fine. You've got money to burn... who cares if Koneko ordered three brownies- that serve nine each- and two cookies the size of pies.
Valerie just gets a simple supreme pizza and Rias seems to have locked onto a pasta dish.
I guess I'll get this.
Twenty five for two pizzas, a supreme and a simple pepperoni, breadsticks, and a two-liter soda. Then nearly nine per brownie, eight per cookie, my little meal box deal is nine. Annnd Rias pasta comes out to nine as well.
Eighty five dollars or so?
Eh. We'll probably have a few leftovers as well. That's fine.
This is fine.
"Is this all you want?" I ask.
"Mn." Koneko nods once, knowing fully well that she's probably going to steal a considerable portion of the pizza.
"Yes. This is fine." Valerie smiles and Rias just nods once.
"Alright. Ordered. It'll be here in thirty minutes. I'm going to start working on a fireproof cloak for Mr. Dragon hunter... and tomorrow I'll summon Virgo."
"AWESOME!"
A thin young man slowly walks forwards, arms folded behind his back, a frown on his lips.
A large bipedal reptile shrieks. It's blue in color with a frill of sharp spikes at the back of its head, a sole horn on its snout.
It turns its head, seemingly noticing someone has entered the cage.
The man carefully moves his body as the dragon moves its head side to side, staying perfectly in its blind spot. His eyes slowly trail a large strip of cloth that is attached to a metal band around its neck, anchored to the stone floor with a piton of iron.
Five hours... and yet it has only frayed a little.
Five hours of having a dragon gnaw and claw on it.
It has fared better than the iron.
A wizard... Ridiculous... and yet...
He pulls a crossbow from his belt, raising it and firing a single bolt at the Deadly Nadder. His aim is true, the bolt stabbing into the neck of the beast.
As he predicted, it turns, tail lashing out, a hail of knife-like poisonous spines thudding into the earth in a line.
The dragon sways on its feet, eventually collapsing to its side as the concoction of numbing agent and dragon root fill its system.
Grimmel stalks forwards with purpose, stopping beside the beast and crouching down gazing over the rope.
It has withstood the Nadder remarkably well.
Yet... there are places where it appears to be weakening.
Parts of the ribbon are blackened and charred.
He scrapes a knife along the side, a frown on his lips as a fair portion of charred ash is scraped off.
Not good against fire it appears.
Just incredibly durable. A deadly nadder can turn a rock molten with a few seconds of sustained contact with its magnesium-based fire breath. Something that not even this can withstand.
Though it did do far better than simple cloth.
he refuses to believe in something like wizardry... maybe this... 'Graves' has found a special type of fiber far stronger than normal.
He turns making his way out of the cage, a frown sits on his lips as he pulls out a stick with a hunk of charcoal on the end.
And yet...
He writes in a leatherbound book. One he seems incapable of losing. One that is invulnerable to both fire and water. "Your cloth may resist blades but I would not trust it to withstand fire."
Words seem to scribble themselves on the paper... something he is... unsure of how this is happening.
"But of course I only had enough room to improve the durability. Would you like a cloak perhaps? One with the sheer durability of that ribbon but with its very own resistance to fire?" - Archmage Graves
Grimmel's brow quirks slightly as he quickly writes a reply on the paper.
"I am intrigued. But I am aware that nothing in this world is for free. What do you want? Dragons? How exactly does this work?"
"Well, you should be able to insert things into this much like you retrieved the ribbon. As for what I want? Dragons. I'm practicing a magic that requires draconic test subjects." - Archmage Graves
"And what does this magic do?" He writes, eyes narrowed slightly.
"Provide them a fate worse than death. Think of them as becoming... fuel for a fire. Some magics use life force as a medium and dragons are quite a bit more tenacious than a normal man. Typically the spells that use souls or lives of creatures for power result in the very 'self' of the thing in question being irreversibly damaged. No afterlife. No second changes. Just a tortured existence up until the end." - Archmage Graves
The corners of his mouth turn upwards. Its clear that those damned beasts have pissed off more than just him. "Alright. What would you want for a cloak that resists fire?"
"That is a good question. I'd like to start small. The dragons of legend around here say that they are totally resistant to magic. I'd like to see if the same could be said for the dragons that plague you. Starting small is preferred as I am not as confident in my physical body than my magical might." - Archmage Graves
"Find me small species. Terrible Terrors, Smothering Smokebreath, Fireworms. Dragons of that nature. Small. Easy to defeat if the need arises. I'm also aware that not all dragons are created equal. Some of one sub-type of a species may be stronger. Like the Mastospawn in comparison to a normal Egg Biter. Of course, I'll give more for the stronger subspecies." - Archmage Graves
Is that it? He supposes it's good to be cautious. Many people have died by being arrogant. "I could get you a terror in mere moments. I have never heard of a Mastospawn before, but I have heard of Egg biters."
"A Mastospawn is a red, black, and yellow egg biter that is said to be able to defeat its parents in battle the moment it hatches. They are identifiable by the yellow jagged lines on their bodies like lightning." - Archmage Graves
An infant defeating a fully grown dragon the instant it hatches?! That is... interesting. Egg Biters are larger than terrors or smoke breaths. A little larger than wolves. They're quite dangerous, not something he could see an infant dragon of almost any species defeating. Let alone one of its own species.
Perhaps he needs to look into this. "Is the cloak finished?"
"No. I haven't even started it yet. I will let you know when it is finished. For now just be on the look out for the best of the best for small dragons. Let's talk enchantments. With enchanting clothing color, design, and symmetry is important. Red, oranges and yellows are good for fire resistance enchantments so I will likely be picking one of those. Do you have any other ideas for what else you want your cloak to have?" - Archmage Graves
"Durability and fire resistance." He replies.
"That's it?" - Archmage Graves
"That will suffice." He writes down.
"Very well. I will begin working on it right away. Prepare two different dragons for me. One for each enchantment." - Archmage Graves
I close the window I was using to communicate with Grimmel, Rias once more peering over my shoulder.
"Alright. Let's summon Virgo." I hum as with a small flash of light her key appears in my hand.
"Open! Gate of the Maiden! Virgo!"
*Ding Dong*
*FLASH*
With a beam of light, the pink haired maid appears in front of me, doing a small bow. "Greetings. Have you finished reading the book I have given you?"
"I have. Here."
I return it to her, causing her to nod once.
Towards the end of the book it told me I was expected to return it to her.
"Now, do you have any days in particular you don't want to be summoned?" I ask.
"No, you may call me at your convenience... though I will expect some time off soon as there's something I need to do... but after that I will serve you to the best of my ability, Master!"
*Ping*
"I see. Oh. And by the way."
A newspaper appears with a flash, being requiped from my hammerspace. I offer it to her. "Here."
On the front is a photo of a certain fat man wrapped in iron bands, head shaved completely and covered in bruises.
Koneko really didn't like when he woke up and called her an 'ugly bitch' and- in her words she- 'Doesn't know any sleepy nonsense magic so she just knocked him out the old fashioned way'.
Heh.
She's fun.
I watch the corners of Virgo's mouth turn upwards. "I see. Thank you. In which case a contract is struck. Any questions? Is there anything you need?"
"Ah. Two things. First off, a question. Is there any downside to keeping celestial spirit keys in a pocket space like requip magic? The book said that the spirits can see the general area around the keys, I'm wondering if that's hampered in any way by requip?"
"It is not. Though the key must still be in your hand to summon me." She supplies.
"Ah." I hum. "Another thing... can you ah... please clean my house?"
She blinks twice then smiles brightly. "Of course! Especially when you use words like 'please!' Some of my wielders were always so rude."
A feather duster appears in her hand.
"Oh and be careful with the pipe organ... it's-" I begin only for the pink haired woman to cut me off.
"A magical weapon? I am aware. It's actually quite old. I'm genuinely curious where you got it."
"Do you want it?" I ask.
The woman seems confused. "Do you... not?"
I gesture to the three girls sat around the room. "It's kind of in the way when I'm living with three other people."
"I will gladly take it, then!" She beams. "Cassiopia will adore this!"
She seems... a little different to the Virgo that Lucy got.
Perhaps serving under the duke for another ten years or so broke her spirit? I can certainly see the underlying notes of that Virgo... that's... sad...
"Thanks, Virgo. You're the best."
Her eyes widen slightly at the praise. Then she seems to put some more fervor into cleaning.
I open archive as the pink haired woman darts around the house. Getting her was definitely a good decision. She isn't even draining me that much.
To summon it took maybe... five percent of my magical energy, but to sustain her like this I'm feeling... at this rate she'd drain like a percent every five minutes or so?

"So. Rias. I'd like your opinion."
She quickly rushes forwards, wrapping me in a hug. "DID YOU GET SOMETHING?!"
*GASP*
"AWESOOOOOME!"
She seems to look over the choices. "The magic items are... best... right?"
"Ah. I was actually leaning towards the first as Papi's world seems far stronger than this one. It's where I got that ice super soldier serum stuff." I counter.
"ooooh! So get that!" She smiles brightly.
"..."
"Alright. Whatever." I shrug as I reach out and push the button.
Oh you've got to be- YOU LUCKY BASTARD!
*Sigh* whatever. This is fine. Oi. Red Haired Girl. If you had any dreams about reincarnating this guy... this is your last chance before he extends far beyond your reach.
Rias' eyes widen as she is being directly addressed.
She slowly turns gazing at the side of my head.
"What did I just get?" I whisper, slowly blinking in confusion.
Rias slowly raises two red bishops into view.
"Andyyyyy~" She hums.
"Rias." I reply evenly.
"You heard what he said. Last chance~ do you want to die in one hundred years or would you like to research magic for the next ten thousand years and gain not only a CONSIDERABLE boost in magic, but also an entirely new imagination-based magic system AND far greater physical attributes?"
I narrow my eyes slightly.
"Ffffine. You might not even be able to use them." I deadpan.
"I doubt that." Rias states, a proud and victorious smile on her face.
She pokes me with one of the bishops... nothing happens.
"Ah. I see. Two it is."
As she brings the second to my chest it glows brightly, filling the room with light.
Virgo pokes her head in from the hallway, offering up a confused blink.
She seems to shrug and goes back to work.
"How does this work exactly?" I question, gazing inwards.
"Oh. It'll take effect over the next hour or so... put these on." She offers me a pair of headphones.
"Noise canceling." She informs.
"Ah. Right. That's probably going to suck. Whatever, I'll worry about it later."
Even if I hate it, with the multiverse at my fingertips it's not like I won't find a way to race-change to something else.
I slowly walk across the room, opening the cabinet and retrieving a few of the books Rias got me. Clothing books. "Rias, may I borrow the- thanks."
There's a knowing smile on her lips as she hands me the glasses.
I lay in my hammock, putting the glasses on and opening the first of the books. Time slows to a crawl as the pages quickly flip past.
Hopefully this will give me some more ideas. My packages will be arriving in about an hour.
A large portion of the cloak is finished. The base area at least. By that, I mean the cloak is mostly done. Not the hood nor enchantments.
*Ding Dong*
"I'll get it!" Rias grins, quickly skipping towards the door.
She comes back a moment later, a box in hand. "Heeere you go!"
"Thanks."
I rip the tape, opening the-
I am struck in the face by a blast of magic, head snapping back.
I blink twice, a deep burning sensation deep in my soul- wait...
That's similar to when I got the apprentice essence...
"Andy are you alright?!" Rias asks.
A grin slowly crosses my face as I rub my forehead. "I'm fine... I am just not sure if Mr. Rob was happy to give me that... but. He gave me a gacha. I won something incredible so he honored it."
"Oh look!" I smile brightly as I reach down into the box, I grasp onto a handle and pull... and pull... and pull.
Eventually an entire greatsword rests in my hand.
"Oh wow." I whisper, an appreciative breathlessness in my voice.
The sword I have retrieved is frankly beautiful.
Handle like a gnarled tree branch, a twisted crystal-like purple blade extending beyond that.
It is certainly an impressive weapon.
It seems to want to draw on my power much like the starfury, but I quickly clamp down on that feeling.
"Woah." Rias gasps. "What is it?"
A screen opens up in front of me.
"Congratulations on your two new items you little bastard! The first item you have retrieved is the Occultist Essence. Empowering your summoning magics. Figure out how that works with fairy tail magics on your own, fucker.
Your next item is the Darklight Greatsword. A blade that can create beams of energy when swung to hit people far away. A special aspect of this sword is that every time it hits something, two additional strikes are generated. Each dealing 80% of the original damage of the attack unless it is caused by a sword beam, in which case each only deal roughly 30%. Inflicts Frostfire and Hellfire debuffs (Freezes and burns things)"
The girl in front of me is practically shaking. "Can- Can I use it?"
"Not in the house, that's for damn sure." I deadpan with a half lidded stare. "You can use it for now if you keep it in your pocket space."
A wide grin crosses her face as she takes the sword in both hands.
She has no idea how to wield a sword... but whatever. Let her have her fun.
"Koneko! Valerie! Let's go on a quest!"
"Mission." I correct.
"A QUEST!" She booms.
"Have fun." I wave as she begins marching towards the door. "Be safe. Don't do anything that I wouldn't do."
"Andrew we're going to be forced to go outside so I don't think we can do that last thing." Rias smirks over her shoulder as Valerie and Koneko come to a stop beside her.
My eyebrow twitches slightly. "Now listen here you little-"
The door clicks shut causing me to let out a single huff of laughter.
Alright. Let's get back to work, then.
I glance over to four glowing orbs hanging in the air. Only those with magical senses comparable to mine can sense them.
I gaze out towards a tree, cloth wrapped around its base.
I pull my thumb back, causing the lighter to produce a small flame.
"Ignis Maxima Velox!"
*Foo-foosh-foomph-fwish*
Four balls of fire are shot forwards, crashing into the base of the tree and creating large blasts of fire.
I slowly walk forwards as the smoke clears. The cloth utterly unharmed... but the tree is beginning to burn.
I hold out a hand... and the fire abruptly fizzles. I use my thaumaturge magic to pull the heat from it, creating a miniature ball of fire that rockets towards me before being harmlessly dissipated into the sky.
I slowly take the cloak from the tree, a low hum leaving my lips.
The wood underneath where it was wrapped is completely unharmed.
A success.
From what I can tell this cloak could resist magic spells dozens of times stronger than the ones I just threw at it.
To put that into perspective... it could probably withstand Natsu going at it without even a single burn or frayed edge.
Of course, you'd still get punched by a muscle wizard, but no fire.
The past few days has been... interesting... to adapt, of course.
Firstly, the oldest change would be to my thaumaturgy. I can draw heat from objects... freezing them. It appears becoming an 'ice-whatever-human' granted me the ability to generate cold... and in an interesting twist, the ability to manipulate heat as well. That's been here since I drank that one potion.
After that my... bishop... status.
DXD devils are fucking overpowered.
My spells are easily twice as strong as they were before and I've got this whole new type of energy sitting in my stomach that I haven't even TOUCHED yet... demonic power.
Then there's my Occultist Essence.
Yeaaaah. Virgo's overall summoning cost is like... a third of what it originally was. Plus she's stronger. Roughly a fifth stronger on average.
Then there's the fact that she could take more of my magical power to grow even stronger. An ability celestial spirits have as they're overall strength is relative to their summoner. But there's no real need for that outside of combat so she's keeping it at the minimum.
My maker magic really improved as well. Getting similar increases. Third of the cost, probably a fifth stronger.
I wasn't able to really get a good estimation on it due to my new bishop nature improving the power of maker magic spells as they are technically attacking magic that I've personally created. Not object magic like Virgo.
Oh.
I have wings now.
That was... Interesting... I think there's still a dent in the ceiling. I'm unsure if Virgo managed to patch it out yet.
I fold the cloak in my arm nodding once as I turn back to the house. There's still work that needs to be done. I need to compare demonic power and ethernano, plus I'll probably be getting a dragon for my takeover.
The door creaks open. "Andyyyy what are we having for dinner?"
"Once more... what do you want? Want to go out to some place in Magnolia or do you want to order fast food again?"
"Chinese food!"
"You know... I've actually not had chinese food beyond an eggroll here and there and general tso's chicken. But I don't count that last one as it was from the Walmart Deli... Sure. Sounds nice. You guys order. I'm going to quickly send this to Grimmel."
With a flash, the cloak disappears.
"It is finished." I type.
There is no reply for a moment so I begin to pick out what I want to eat.
"Good. I have prepared your dragon. How does this function?" - Grimmel the Grisley
"You simply touch whatever it is you are communicating with to the object you want to trade." - Archmage Graves
A single object is placed inside... then a second.
"Oh? You spoil me Grimmel." I smirk.
Trade offer:
[ ] Archmage Graves: Fireproof Cloak
[ ] Grimmel the Grisley: Terrible Terror, Speed Stinger.
Accept Trade?
{Yes} {No}
I press yes and with a flash of light I can see two chained and shackled creatures resting on the screen just waiting to be brought out.
Well...
This could go really well... or really poorly.
But first?
Chinese food.
Andy continues to be a lucky bastard. I swear, why do I roll this shit? Let me just give him Galaxia next.
